Deskjet D1560 Windows Network Won't Print on Mac

I have a Deskjet D1560 connected to my HP desktop computer.  I am able to print just fine from there.  I have shared it and am able to send jobs to the printer from the mac, but they say spooling, then printing, yet nothing prints.  The printer makes noises like it is getting ready to print, then never does.  I have already tried resetting the print spooler, turning the printer on an off again, and deleting and readding the printer on the mac, to no avail.  In the hp printer utility on the mac, the printer is there, but red, and I can't access it.
I have:
Deskjet D1560
Macbook Pro running OSX Version 10.6.8
WRT54G Linksys router

  • Windows XP won't print to Mac Tiger w/Epson R200

I have Windows XP successfully networked through a router to a Mac OS X 10.4.6 with an Epson R200. I've successfully assigned the Printer to the Windows XP.
    I followed these instructions
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html
The XP DOES send the job to the Mac. It shows up in the Printer Jobs on the Mac but the job is Stopped.
I've tried using an installed Epson R200. I also tried using the Apple Color LaserWriter as per the above instructions.

  • My canon 5320 has ink but won't print on mac os 10.7.5

my canon 5320 has ink but won't print on mac os 10.7.5

    Hi olschoolmike_1,
To try and resolve the issue, you will want to confirm that the inkjet nozzles are dispensing the ink correctly by printing a nozzle check pattern from the printer.  If the pattern does not print correctly, we recommend performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings on the printer to try and get the ink to print..  To print the nozzle check pattern and perform the cleanings, please follow the steps located here.  If you still experience difficulty after performing the cleanings, please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.

  • HP Deskjet 600C with USB adapter & Windows 7 won't print

Windows 7 recognizes the printer, and says it is OK. It installed the driver. Test Page failed. Printing a simple text document failed. Any suggestions?

What happens when you try to print - do jobs stay in the queue?  If not does the printer go through the motions of printing but fail to put ink on the page?  If so then try printing a test page from the printer as shown here.  If that fails then the issue is the printer or the print cartridge.  In that case I would suggest running the cleaning cycle as shown at the link above.

  • Laserjet P1006, Windows 7, won't print readable maps (poor greyscale - halftones)

    Laserjet P1006, Windows 7 64 bit,
won't print readable maps (poor greyscale - halftones)
The HP website shows a "density" slider control in the print driver, but the driver that they have for download doesn't have this control.  I did set the driver to RET1600 but that made little improvement.
Tips to correct this flaw greatly appreciated!

    2nd Request
I set this printer up with a Windows XP computer, and the printer works fine with the XP driver.  The problem is with the WIndows 7 driver - the print density is too low to print maps in a readable fashion.
Can anyone please help with printing greyscale (maps in this case) in the HP Laserjet P1006 with Windows 7 ???

    Hi Velcro,
Seeing as this is a forum community, we try to get to posts as soon as we can and I will try to help you out.
You've mentioned a few issues with the printer, so let's see if we can figure out what's wrong with it. Right now it could be either hardware or software, so let's troubleshoot the actual printer first
Please print a test page, and let me know if any black or color blocks come out?
Load unused, plain white, U.S. letter or A4 sized paper in the tray.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
Press the Setup button ( ).
Press the right arrow button ( ) to select Print Report , and then press OK .
Press the right arrow button ( ) to select Self-Test Report , and then press OK . The self-test report prints.

  • Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
    It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
R & R the Epson Drivers,  Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
    Still errors.
I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro.  Download drivers, etc..  Works like a champ!
We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
We have even gone into Terminal and...
    sudo bash
    cd /etc/cups/ppd
    ls
    found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
    cp * /var/tmp/
    ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
    rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
    Still doesn't work.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, it's not clear... did you Rest the Printing system on the Mac?
    10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8 instructions...
In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
        1.    To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:
        2.    Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
        3.    Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
        4.    Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."

As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

    Reboot.

  • New Windows laptop fails to print to Mac-shared printer

I prevoiusly had a shared HP DeskJet 5900 shared from my PowerBook G4 to a Toshiba Windows laptop via Bonjour. The printer was set up as a generic Postscript printer and printing worked fine.
I replaced the PowerBook with a MBP C2D and the Windows laptop with a Sony Vaio, and this same printing arrangement no longer works. Setting up the printer in Windows goes fine. The Bonjour printer setup assistant finds the shared printer just fine, and set-up appears to succeed, but printing from any Windows app fails with the error message, “Printing failed because an error occurred.”
    What am I doing wrong?

…On the VAIO, are you still creating the
printer as a Generic PS? I've seen problems when you
add the Windows driver for the printer instead of
setting it to PS (the Mac does the conversion so it
is recommended to leave it set this way).
Yes, it’s Standard/Generic Postscript, although I also tried setting it up with the appropriate printer-specific Windows driver with the same result.
It might be worth checking Console in the MBP to see
if there is a better explanation as to what is going
wrong. The cups error log may be helpful (providing
the spool file is getting to the MBP).
Good idea. Unfortunately nothing shows up on Console. I suspect the connection is failing entirely on the Windows end.
However, the connection does work on the file-sharing level. In a Windows Explorer window, I can successfully browse \\[Mac name]\ and see the printers as well as shared files

  • Laptop with window 7 won't print to network HP printer

purchased a Toshiba Laptop and cannot get it to print to my HP PSC 750 network printer.    I have downloaded the drivers and made sure it was compatiable with that printer.   It installed the printer with no problem.   It shows "ready" but when I send a test print or any other type of document to it it will go to the que and shows "printing error"  When I troubleshoot it shows that there are jobs in the que and needs to be cleared....but when I do that and try another test page I get the same scenario.   I have also turned off the firewall to my desktop and tried to print.   I have a desktop with XP home and 2 other laptops with XP and all three of them will print to that printer.    I contacted the Geek Squad and they don't have a fix either.   Is it something with the new Window 7?     HELP!   I have spent about 10 hours trying to get this printer to work and about have given up!

Many Vista driver are compatible with Windows 7, have you tried installing these? Then, have you tried to make windows search for new drivers? It has even compatible ones, they could work. You can force your windows to search for new drivers even pluggin your printer directly to your pc, once the're installed, you can make the connection procedure to the printer in LAN.
Excuse me if my English is not perfect..

  • Windows 7 won't print pdf to network printer connected to Mac

    Hi,
I have a printer connected to my Mac and have shared the printer on my home network.  I can print documents from a Windows 7 computer on my network but when I try to print a pdf from adobe reader it will not print, or ever go to the print queue.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks Michael, have tried that, no luck. I will wait a couple of days to see if any other solutions come up (or if anyone else is suddenly having the same issue) before reinstalling Acrobat.
[OK just tried sending a PDF attachment directly from another program (MYOB) through to Mac Mail and had the same problem so it is not an Acrobat issue afterall, it is a Mac Mail or Mac OS X issue. Will post this on the Apple site.]
I have resolved the MYOB issue, it was working just painfully slow. So I still have the original Acrobat Pro PDF to Mac Mail issue if anyone knows of any solutions please?

  • HP Deskjet 1010 on Windows XP - won't print

I had an HP Inkjet 1000 that worked fine for years, and then decided not to grab the paper.  Since I had just purchased 6 new cartridges, I wanted to replace that printer with one that would also use the type 61 cartridges, and purchased a DeskJet 1010 printer.  The printer does not print.  There are no error messages.  If I am watching the printer spool when I OK the print, I see the document spooling, getting sent to the printer, and then deleted from the spool.  I cannot get the test page to print.  All of the diagonstics seem OK (green checks everywhere).
I have installed the new drivers (several times).  The only way I have been able to get any output from the printer is to ask for an alignment page, which I suspect is being driven directly to the USB without going through the print spooler.
The printer works fine on another of my computers, so suspect the drivers, the spooler, or the port connection, but not the printer itself.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Windows XP Version 2002, Service Pack 3

    Hi PeterGuthrie,
I am sorry to hear that you cannot get the Deskjet 1010 to print on your Windows XP computer. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.
I recommend using this document for USB Printer Installation Troubleshooting. After doing the disk clean up, I recommend doing a re-register of the windows installer.
    To Re-register Windows Installer
Click Start, click Run , type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER , and then click OK .
NOTE:Even if you do this correctly, it might look like nothing happens, but it does.
Click Start, and then click Run .
In the Run window, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER , and then click OK .
Then follow the rest of the steps in order. Be sure to restart after installing before trying to print.
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
    Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Hp cp1160 deskjet printer won't print from Mac OS 9

    Hello,
I am running OS 9.2.2 on my Mac and I can't seem to print to my HP CP1160 inkjet printer.
It is connected using USB. My other USB devices work fine. In fact in the Apple System profiler, I can see the CP1160 printer listed as being connected and it also appears in the chooser. So it appears to be OK. Unfortunately however, it does not print.
I am using the correct driver for OS9. It is called: "hp deskjet v5.4" installed by the "OS 8-9.x-Classic installer".
Now when I go to print it does not print and the file sent to the printer appears in the print spool window for just a few seconds and then disappears.
    Then this error message appears:
document "nameofdocument" failed to print on the printer "cp1160" because of an error. -28
followed by the choices: cancel job, hold job or try again
And when using the test feature of the hp inkjet utility this error message appears:
"There was a communication error, make sure the printer is connected and turned on."
    Why will it not print?
What should be my next troubleshooting step?
    Thank you for any suggestions,
PS It is interesting to note that this printer works fine in OS10.1 on the same computer and it also works with OS 10.4 on another computer. The computer that has this print problem has both OS 10.1 and OS 9 on it. It prints fine from OS 10.1 but not from 9. I installed the appropriate driver for OS 10.1 and it works fine and I installed the appropriate driver for OS9 and it is this OS9 driver that does not seem to want to enable the printer to print. Thank you for any suggestions.
    Specs:
Computer model: 233 MHz G3 beige with ratoc USB/firewire card.
    OS: 9.2.2.

I tried all of these suggestions but none were successful. I suppose my third party card (Ratoc USB/Firewire card) is just not compatible with my printer. Thats too bad. I guess the only way I can print with this printer is to boot up in OSX. That works. I wish I could print from OS9 too however. Thanks again Kenichi for your good suggestions It was a good try.
For the record, here were the extensions I disabled (and re-booted after disabling each one at a time):
    Desktop Printer Spooler
    Desktop Print Monitor
    Print Monitor
    Printing Lib
    Printer Share
    USB Printer Sharing
    Desktop Printer Menu
    color SW 1500
    color SW 2500
    color SW Pro
    CSW 6000 series
    Imagewriter
    Laserwriter 300/LS
    Laserwriter 8
therefore these extensions do not conflict with my cp1160 - it must be something else - perhaps my third party USB card (Ratoc USB/Firewire card).

  • Fail to install driver HP1050 deskjet for windows 8 when connecting printer with computer

I have this great HP desket 1050 printer for less than a year. My computer broke down so I bought a new one, but now with windows 8.1. I can install the driver for HP1050 deskjet, but then there is a moment that you have to connect the PC and printer with an USB cable. This is the moment that the installation fails, nothing happens when I plug my printer into my PC. So I never finish the installation process complelty. The same thing happens when I choose add printer later and then add my printer. My printer is on and the cable is well plugged in. Anybody any suggestions as I would like to use this printer again.
