Deskjet F4440 will not print

I was using my Deskjet 4440 for printing scanning and copying. Then all of a sudden it will not print but still scans and copies. When I try to print it doesn't even go into the print queue. I tried to redown load the software on line but that did not work.

My HP Deskjet all-in-one- F4440 will not print.  I have put in a new color and a new black cartridge.  It clanks loudly when it moves back and forth.  Finally it stops and then pulls plain paper through as though printing on it - does this two or three times.  then it pulls plain paper halfway through and stops.  I have to tug and carefully pull halfway paper back out towards front to remove.

    Hi there,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? Are there any error messages or flashing lights? What operating system are you using?

  • My hp deskjet 842c will not print in color only in black

Until the other day, my printer was working quite well -- printing in colour or black.  It seems that I ran out of ink in my colour cartridge and upon replacement, the printer would no longer print in colour.  I replaced the colour cartridge again thinking that maybe the replacement cartridge was defective but the problem still persists -- the printer simply will not print any colour.  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium version 64 bit.

You can check the ink levels here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02693389&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang...
The driver for this printer, when used within Windows 7, is built-in or 'in-OS' so you do not have access to the HP solution center or HP Toolbox.
Printing the self-test report will show how the ink is dispensed and what levels of ink are available. If on this report there is nothing shown, the issue is likely related directly to the cartridges rather than a software issue.
If this is the case, visit this article and browser towards the bottom:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bud02948&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=...
There are steps on how to clean the cartridges as well as the underside of the carriage in case there is and debris or interferrance causing this issue.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 will not print

    Hi Everyone,
I am not really tech savy so please be patient.
BEFORE I CONTINUE PLEASE NOTE I HAVE READ OTHER MESSAGES REGARDING THIS TOPIC HOWEVER I AM STILL AT A LOSS.
I have purchased a hp deskjet 1510 printer. I am having trouble printing from a word document or pdf file or a photo etc. I can photocopy however not print.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled. I have made sure that the printer is selected as the default printer etc.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.

I am having real problems as well. It will not let me set the 1510 as default printer, telling me its not part of hte network.
I have spend 3 hours looking through this site to find answers and not one person on this site has managed to get a satisfactory answer and an explanation what is wrong. All you keep getting told is uninstall it and it will be fine.
I've uninstalled, re-installed, installed, everything and nothing is working.
Can someone PLEASE sort out what is wrong and provide a proper solution which doesn't involved uninstalling and reinstalling software which should work when we buy the bloody machine.
If I don't get a fix its going back to the shop and I'll buy a canon or an epsom, because the 1510 as it sits is a complete waste of money if you cannot even get the sodding thing to work when you buy it.

  • My HP Deskjet 3520 will not print in black after replacing cartridge

I have just replaced all my ink cartridges in my HP DESKJET 3520 printer (it's wireless).  It prints in color fine, but not in black.  I've tried cleaning the print head, aligning the cartridges, checking the breather on the cartridges.  I've also just opened up another black cartridge, thinking maybe my new one was defective.  So now I've just wasted a cartridge.
so frustrated! My printer is more than a year old now to.  So no warranty.  when I click on the printer ink levels, it's recognizing I have full cartridges - but it's not printing in black at all.

If the troubleshooting steps in the post here do not resolve the issue the I suggest you contact HP as described in that post, even if the printer is out of warranty.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 will not print some documents, will print others

    Hello everybody,
yesterday I installed my new printer Deskjet 2540 wirelessly and tested it. All (scan and copy) worked well up to the point where I wanted to print a Pdf file. It did not so I started picking other documents.
Some pdf files print without a problem, other won't. Some docx files print, other won't. In Excel or Oulook I haven't been able to print anything. In Outlook I was able to print to pdf and then actually print that pdf.
After some close looking, it seems the printing jobs are sent to the spooling area, but deleted within 1 second without actually printing.
I have already tried to reinstall the latest drivers (version 12/12/2O13) and using the HP print and scan troubleshouting. This last one gave me the green light and printed the test page without a problem.
Hopefully anyone recognises this problem? Any solutions would be very welcome.
    Kind regards
    Tom

Hi there Tom, Thanks for your reply with your information, that helps out quite a bit!
First, download (can save right on your Desktop and use whenever you run into a printing or scanning problem) and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which will search and fix common printing problems. This alone may resolve your issue. If the issue persists, continue on to these steps. Now, I would suggest installing Windows Updates, there will be "optional" ones there as well to install. If there are many updates to be done, this could take up some time.Install Windows Updates  If that doesn't seem to do the trick, I recommend a Level 3 uninstall (uninstall_l3) and reinstall of the printer software and driver. Here are the tools and steps to use.1. Uninstall - HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility2. Restart your PC3. Reinstall - HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows Hopefully the issue will dissipate after the level 3 uninstall and reinstall. If not, here is a link to Adobe to troubleshoot PDF printing problems.Troubleshoot PDF printing | Acrobat, Reader  If you run into any other issues, please let me know. I will be out of the office for the weekend but will check up on this thread when I return! Good luck!

  • My hp deskjet 9362c will not print in black and white/error message says the printer mode is set at

can not get my hp deskjet 932c to print in black and white.  error message states print mode in auto, but I can't find the print mode to correct.  printer was printing in black and white or color automatically til last night, then in middle of document quit altogether.  new cartridges get the same results.

Check the paper type settings.  If this is set to "automatic" and the paper type is detected as photo paper then black only print is not available.  (The black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.)  What is your operating system?

  • Deskjet D4160 will not print

Hi, my dad gave me his old printer. I installed it and it worked fine for the first few weeks (Windows Vista OS) but it just stopped working out of nowhere. The ink levels are fine, there is no paper jam, but everytime I print something, it sends it to the queue and it just won't work. The power light is on.. it just doesn't seem to be making the connection?
Help please. I need this printer for my school papers.
    Thanks,
    TK

    Hi TK,
It may be helpful to try out some of the suggestions at this link.  I believe that there is also a print diagnostic tool that can be downloaded to help solve printing problems.
Just expand on the Windows Vista area.

  • Deskjet 6980 will not print with Windows 7

This printer worked fine until a recently. Now I cannot print from Windows 7 desktop computer. The printer shows that it is offline. The report page from the printer tells me everything is connected and OK. I can print from my lap with XP Home Edition with no problems. I followed several ideas on this forum  and other web sites but none of them worked. If I restart the spooler, I get Error - Printing and nothing else. I ran the Windows 7 troubleshooter but it said it can't fix the problem. I can open the printer web page and everything looks OK. I installed Windows 7 in November and it has been printing OK until now.  Windows update says everything is up to date. I did install the patch mentioned here. Any ideas?

Did you delete the printer in Devices and Printers and re-add it?

  • My wireless HP Deskjet 3050 printer will not print from web sites.

My HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer will not print from web sites - it prints ok from WORD, etc. I keep getting the error message: "An unknown error occurred while printing." This problem only arises with Firefox browser.
The printer is connected wirelessly to a network and this occurs when I use a laptop on the network. It is also connected via cable to a desktop computer but there is no problem in printing from the desktop.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

That sounds as if you need to investigate to see if you were able to clear all of the paper that was causing the jam.
    Best regards,

  • New HP Pavilion 11t-n000x360 will not print on Deskjet f4180 printer

The  new Laptop recognizes the printer but will not print.  No problem printing from PC s5120f . I am strictly a user, not very tech savy.

    Hi @78Senior,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot print from Windows 8.1 to your HP Deskjet f4180. I am happy to help!
I would recommend to go through this printer is offline guide, 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print: Windows 8. When you get to solution four make sure to select USB and follow the steps there as well.
    Hope this works!

  • Photoshop 10 Will Not Print to HP Deskjet 9650

My computer is running Win 7-64.  There is 96 GB free space on drive C. This is a new computer with the HP 9650 being connected for the first time.
Printing to HP Deskjet 9650 will not work for Photoshop.  Printing to a HP Deskjet 970 does work.
The HP 9650 is connected with a USB cable.  A test page printed from Tool Box prints as expected.  Printing works from Windows Photo Viewer.
Printing of the same document that successfully printed using Windows Photo Viewer does not work from Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  Attempts to print documents from MS Word (MS Office 2010), Adobe pdf viewer, Fire Fox, or Windows Internet Explorer do not work.
The Power light on the HP 9650 blinks seeming to indicate that the print job is being processed. But printing never occurs. Sometimes "Photoshop Elements Printing: not responding" is displayed.  Other times no error messages are  displayed on the computer monitor.  Other programs mentioned above do not display an error message.
After several minutes the Power Light is on steady and the Resume Light begins to blink a steady on and off. Pressing the Resume light switch changes nothing.
HP 9650 printer manual speaks of the meaning of the combination of Power-Light-on steady and Resume-Light-blinking.  I think it is easy to eliminate the printer waiting for special media to dry as plain paper is being used and this same media was used successfully printed from Windows Photo Viewer. Printer is not out of paper. Printing job was not a banner, I/O stall is considered not a problem since the test page printed and a document can be printed from Windows Photo Viewer. Even though printer set up page was configured for "Automatic" tray selection, a manual load from rear was tried with no change.  That seems to eliminate the printer waiting for a manual feed load.
The above leaves only a "media mismatch" being the problem according to the printers manual. I have gone over the printer page setup dozens of times and find no media mismatch.  If there was a media mismatch it likely would be present when printing the same document from Windows Photo Viewer.

Part of the problem has been solved.  Seems that the HP Deskject 9650 needs to have "spool printing" turned on.  Making this change allows the printer to work.
Remaining is a problem that occurs when the print job is completed, regardless of how many pages the job included.  At the end of the job the Power light blinks a steady on and off.  The manual says that this means the printer is processing a job.  It will do this for several minutes until a point when the power light is on solid and the Advance light blinks steadily. Turning the printer off and then back on resets it.
It appears to be waiting for someting that it never gets.  Any ideas?
