  • Deskjet pro 8000 goes offline

Product name & number:  HP DeskJet Pro 8000 CB092A (A809a)
Operating System:  Mac OS X 10.6.8
Printer started taking ages to complete power on self test (anything from 5 to 20 minutes). Then, despite having installed a new black ink cartridge, black was very streaky. Bought and installed a new print head (yellow/black) then after the lengthy POST printer attempted to print the alignment page. Approx half way through printer utility reported that the printer had gone off line and ALL the front panel lights on the printer were flashing at about 5Hz i.e. very rapidly. Only way out of this situation is to cycle power. Then, once power is restored, the cycle repeats ad nauseam ...
Printer utility does not report any status for the K/Y printhead only the M/C one. This was true before I replaced the K/Y head. Also, having replaced the Cyan & Magenta cartidges VERY recently they are being reported as almost empty. Where has all the ink gone? Certainly not onto any paper!
Having followed the HP trouble-shooting page for this printer the next thing to try is 'service the printer' which, I'm informed, is out of warranty.
So, do I heave the heap of junk in a skip and buy a Canon or Epson or is there a way forward which isn't going to cause me to become insolvent? I have all new ink cartridges on the shelf which I'm reluctant to install as I may, just, be able to get a refund on.
    Dissatisfied ...

    Hmmm...
This whole issue has come to a head. I removed the paper tray and duplex unit to have a really good look for paper fragments in the path. I tipped the printer backwards to have a look at the under side to see how easy it would be to take the whole shebang apart. Ink started pouring out of the well on the right of the printer under the extra cover. I'd noticed that there seemed to be an inordinate amount of ink in there but was surprised at the volume which poured out over the chair I'd placed the printer on and the floor! So I now know where all the ink had gone from two 940XL cartridges!!!
I have so much invested in supplies for this printer that it is actually cheaper for me to buy a new DeskJet 8000 printer than switch printers. After all this example lasted me 3 years so at sub £150 it is almost a 'disposable' item. In the case of the old one it actually is disposable as the inside of the printer is now saturated with ink.
    Ah well...

  • Wired Ethernet Deskjet Pro 8500 failed after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Following an upgrade to Windows 8.1 my ethernet wired Deskjet Pro 8500 A909g disappeared from my installed printers. This printer/scanner had worked successfully on this computer under Windows 8.
I have tried several suggestions including uninstalling all HP software and starting over with a fresh install. I can see the printer on my network by using a browser and going to the printers web address. I have downloaded HP's Print and Scan Doctor and can see the printer on the scan conducted.
When I download the latest HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Drivers, Version14.8.0, and run it, the setup cannot see my printer on the network. When I select the choice of a wired network setup, the software searches for a device then returns to selection screen. If I select a wired ethernet setup again the same cycle repeats.
I have gone through HP Solutions for Install Errors (Windows 8) Troubleshooting wizard without finding a solution. Once, during my efforts I successfully installed this printer using an USB cable, but this is not the solution I desire.
This printer is successfully installed on a second Windows 7 computer on the same wired ethernet Workgroup.
    Are there any solutions available?

I have patiently waited a week for any suggestions but have heard nothing. I have searched the forums and support sites without finding a working solution. I have purchased and successfully used many HP products both at home and in business for many years. This incident is discouraging and does not speak well for HP product service. Is anyone listening?

You guessed it!.  I was going to get back with you but you responded before I could.
The goober that I am :smileyindifferent: found that I had disconnected a cordless telephone that I had used with my Dell AIO 962 for faxing and I had it sitting along side of my new printer.  During the night the battery on the phone run down and it began to beep.  Needless to say therein lied the problem!!.
Boy do I feel like an idiot...............phone battery removed...............no beep.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 a909g software won't install in widows 8

I have a HP Deskjet Pro 8500 a909g printer.  It's worked great on XP and windows 7.  On Windows 8 I can get the printer drivers to install, but not any of the HP software.  I have done a L4 uninstall, stopped all the TSR non-windows applications, cleaned all temp files/folders, disable the firewall and anti-virus and downloaded the version 14.8.0 Product installation software.  When I execute the Product installation software, it completes the "extraction", then simply disappears.  The app is still running, because I can't delete the file, but no screen or window comes up.
I have also tried the Install wizard and the HP Print and Scan Doctor, both failed saying they don't support this device after processing through the first 3-4 steps.
Has anyone successfully installed this software on Windows 8?  Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi pepps
I understand you are unable to install the printer on the Win 8.
The downloaded driver goes to the downloads folder, try and run it from there.
In our lab this where it extracted to but yours might be different.
Go to desktop, touch windows key and x key, select file
explorer, downloads folder. Double click it to run the
    extracted file. (ojaio6500e709fullwinww140)
    Run extracted file separately.
Go to desktop, touch windows key and x key, select file
explorer, c:, users, your computer name, app data, local,
temp 7zs4d1a, (Officejet 6500) open the setup.exe to run
    the installation.
Let me know if that works.

    Hi Michael,
The eFax service is not available for any printer model.
The only models currently support the eFax App are HP Photosmart C510, HP ENVY 110 and HP Photosmart 7510.
Additionally, the eFax App was never provided for any All-in-One containing a physical analog fax card.

I have an iphone 5 , and ipad and a Macpro . I love the fact that I can use imessage and icloud to sync these devices . I have everything all set up but am running into one problem with my iphone5 .... I cannot receive text messages from other iphone users on my iphone ... they show up on my Macpro and ipad but not my iphone . I get them only on my ipad and Macpro ... any answers for this ?

You don't need a phone port on the iMac. The HP 7300 DeskJet Pro has an internal modem, you connect the printer's modem connection directly to your phone line. Please re-read the install directions that came with the printer.

  • Borderless Printing Problem

Windows XP Pro, Indesign CS3, HP K8600 Deskjet Pro Printer. I am trying to print a borderless document. Printer does have borderless feature. I cannot get the document centered. A quarter inch white border appears on the right side of the document and a half inch border appears on the bottom. . Settings I am using in the print setup are as follows: Paper size "Borderless 8.5X11"; Page position "Centered"; also tried Page position "Upper Left"; Printing Shortcuts "Borderless Printing"; Under Features tab "Borderless 8.5X1", "Print Actual Size" and check "Bordrless". Document will print borderless and centered in HP Photosmart application but not in Indesign so I don't think it's a printer problem.

It's the top item on the Paper Size menu-drop...
I think that's your only way out because "borderless" printing is essentially unsupported by InDesign and sort of defies its logic.

  • Printer wakes me up!

I have a new HP Deskjet Pro 8620, and the touch pad/display periodically lights up all by itself, seemingly for no reason.  Unfortunately, the printer is in our bedroom, and the display creates a glowing light in the corner of the room, which can be distracting when we're trying to fall asleep.  Does anyone know why the display activates/lights up by itself and how I can prevent it?  I've tried disabling auto updates, but that doesn't help.
    Thanks

    Hi Runner01,
I can't say for certain what is causing the display on your 8620 to activate and light up. There are a few possible causes. It could be that a call comes in and if the printer is connected to the fax line (the same line as the phone) it would activate. It could be general maintenance engaging the printer display.
Despite my not knowing what is causing the issue, I do have a solution to possibly resolve the issue. On the front panel of the printer, you can touch ECO, then navigate to Schedule On and Off, the set a time for the printer to turn off and a time for it to turn back on.
    I hope this helps.

  • (Trouble printing) Trouble with connection between Macbook Pro and Hp Deskjet 1510.

Trouble with connection between Macbook Pro and Hp Deskjet 1510. (Nothing Prints).
I have a Macbook Pro and am having difficulty printing documents from ‘Pages' from my Hp Deskjet 1510. I have installed the necessary software for the printer and it is connected via USB. Every time I try to print the printer icon comes up as it should, 'printing' and then 'job completed' and then the icon disappears. (Nothing is printed.) I thought it might be something to do with Pages compatibility with the printer but exporting the document to Word or making it a PDF doesn’t change anything. I don’t have Microsoft Word on my computer. The scanner does work and when I printed a ‘Test Page’ that worked too.
Let me know if you know why this is happening.

With these settings the network now works flawlessly, however, when i have my ethernet cable plugged in, my internet access via my airport card(on the macbook pro) is no longer available. Hoping you can tell me why this would be with this info i've provided.
Educated guess. The networking devices have priorities as to which are used. The standard order is that Ethernet has a higher priority than Airport.
While your Ethernet is unplugged it is inactive and the Mac ignores it. Once you plug it in, the Mac sees that it is active and switches traffic to that interface.
I actually take advantage of this feature at home, but configuring my Airport and Ethernet with identical fixed IP addresses. Normally I'll use Airport, but if I'm copying a huge file and I want faster performance, I'll just walk my MacBook (previously iBook, previously Powerbook) over to my Ethernet switch and plug in my MacBook. Magically, the Mac detects that the Ethernet is active and continues the file transfer uninterrupted over the faster 100baseT Ethernet connection. When the transfer is finished, or if I really need to move back to the Comfy Chair, I unplug the Ethernet cable, and all activity reverts back to the Airport, all without disrupting any existing networking connections.
You on the other hand have totally different settings for your Ethernet and your Airport, so when you switch to Ethernet, you basically loose your Airport connections.
    Something you can try:
    System Preferences -> Network
Gear icon on the bottom left, next to the [+] [-] icons.
    Select *Set Service Order...*
Now Drag the network interfaces into the perfer priority order you want. In this case put Airport above Ethernet.
NOTE: You may want to create a new Network Location for this, instead of messing with your normal home Location (which is most likely the default Automatic. That way you have your original you can always fall back to.
