Desktop background is moving with my mouse

When I turned on my Mac this morning, I noticed that some of the fonts on my desktop were a little blurry and some appeared to be bold in bold. Also, when I move the mouse arrow to the right, the entire screen shifts left. When I move it left, it shifts right. Same when I move up (it goes down) or down (it moves up). By entire screen, I mean everything from the dock at bottom, to the tool bar with my clock up top. I don't know why this is happening. Last night, when I turned off my computer, everything was normal. If anyone is familiar with this problem, please help me. Thanks.

Hi SaintPatrick, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I think you accidentally hit CMDOption8, do it again, or open System Preferencess>Universal Access>Seeing & turn Zoom OFF.

  • Desktop Moving With My Mouse Movements!

This is a weird one for me, as I've never seen it before.
I booted up my Mac Mini this afternoon, and when I moved my mouse, my desktop moved with it! Kind of hard to describe, but whichever way I move the mouse then the whole desktop image moves with it, regardless of what I am doing.
I have tried the Command Option P & R startup and looked in the system preferences, but I'm so far admitting defeat on this one!
    Any ideas?

    Hi Samsong-
You have zoom enabled on the mouse.
If you hold the control key while scrolling up or down is one way zoom becomes enabled and the mouse will do that. Try holding the control key down and scroll all the way out.
Zoom can be configured in the mouse preferences.

Hi M, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
These are user-to-user forums, so people here may not know what Apple is aware of, and the opposite is also true; Apple may not be aware of things just because they are posted here. If they are aware of the issue, you can hope that they will fix it in the next point update, and/or you can offer feedback to them here. Good luck.

  • Windows 8 + Live Account - Unsync Desktop Backgrounds

I have a setup with several Windows 8 machines - including virtual machines utilizing Hyper-V.  I really enjoy the benefits of using my Live account to keep [most] things in sync, but it would be really nice to be able to exclude certain items from
that synchronization (selectively?). One element that would be most helpful is to not sync my desktop background images. With all of the RDPing from one machine to the other (and adding in the Hyper-V machines to that equation as well), I really like to keep
the background images distinct to help me quickly identify where I am working. I can't figure out how to unsync that element. Is this possible? If so, anyone care to enlighten me?
    My setup (if you care)...
Machine1: Core i7, 12GB RAM, 120GB SSD [Host OS (Win8), Media Center, Plex Server, Hyper-V Server], (3) 1.5TB drives in RAID-5 (core data storage), (1) 1.5TB drive (Virtual Machines), (1) 1.5TB drive (Unprocessed Recorded TV files)
    Machine2: Hyper-V 6 CPU, 6GB RAM, 350GB Virtual Disk [Win8, Office 2013, Visual Studio 2012, SQL 2012, etc.] {this is intended to be my primary workspace and I RDP to it from the host OS when I am in the office}
    Machine3: Core i7 laptop, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD [Win8, Office 2013, Visual Studio 2012, SQL 2012, PLEX App etc.] {this is a fully capable machine, but the intended use is RDP to Machine2 whenever possible}
I also have a Server 2012 Virtual Machine hosted by the same Machine1 - this is setup for Remote Access to my LAN (via VPN) by my laptop (which I hope to replace/supplement with either a Surface Pro or a Lenovo Helix).
(The reason I have both the physical Win8 VM Win8 is to allow me to RDP into the VM without breaking Windows Media Center on the physical machine.)

    Hi,
Please do not sync Desktop Personalization. You can make this change by the sync options of changing PC settings or Group Policy.

    Hi Maryan,
Open System Preferences > Displays > select the window for you external monitor > click on the Arrangement tab and check the box next to Mirror Displays. It may be slightly different in Lion, but the idea is the same.

  • Issue with desktop Opt/Click (right click) & 'Change Desktop Background'

I have an issue with the opt/click in the desktop in ML 10.8.2. The 'Change Desktop Background' using opt/click (right click) works after reboot, but fails to open (work correctly) thereafter. The 'System Preferences' icon bounces in the dock but nothing else happens, I have either click on the SP icon or re-opt/click (R click) again to get it working. All else seems to be in order but not this. I have tried this with 2 complete full installs & still doesn't work correctly (same issue. I have reported it to Apple, but I was wondering if anyone else experiencing this problem?

So, here's what I've learned so far.
Fresh reboot.  Works fine.  Close and try again, doesn't work.  This you already know.
Here's what I tried to see if it makes a difference:
    I removed:
    ~/Library/Caches
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.*, com.apple.systempreferences.* and com.apple.desktop.*
    That didn't help.
I tried it in safe mode.  Same issue.
Here's something interesting I noticed.  If you open terminal and killall Finder, that refreshes it and makes it work again... for 1 try.
This does, in fact, seem like a bug.
For reference, I'm currently on a mid 2012 macbook pro.  Running fully updated on mt lion.

  • Why does a new desktop creation unexpectedly initiate with a background differing from the originating desktop? How can I control or eliminate this behavior?

Why does a new desktop creation unexpectedly initiate with a background differing from the originating desktop? How can I control or eliminate this behavior?

CT, I suspect that I either mistated the question or don't understand how to set the default back ground.  In any case, with the background that I have set in system settings, and this is the background to which my sessions consistantly boot, new desktops come up for the second or up to the third background with this initially set background. Then in the third or fourth desktop creation (I seldom go beyond four), the background for the new desktop, is one that I was using one or two months ago...

My desktop icons mysteriously moved from the left to the right of the screen, and scrambled the order. When I try to drag them back to the left, they pop right back to the right when I release the mouse. What can I do to place them where I want them on the screen?

A LOT of them dont appear.
What do you see in the window when you click on those?  A blank, black window?  An exclamation mark?  What?

  • Remote desktop - background login with unique resolution

Is it possible to use a Mac remote desktop Client with a separate desktop and resolution?
With windows rdp the client you have a background login with a unique resolution.
The resolution on my iMac server is a lot greater than that of the client.
I would prefer tologin without scaling and/or scrolling

    Fixed

  • Drawning text/images in a JPanel and then resizing/moving it with the mouse

    Hello ebverybody!
I need to be able to draw some text objects in a JPanel and then resize/move it with the mouse... How could I do that!? Same for some images loaded from jpg files...
Should I just paint the text and then repaint when the mouse selects it? How to do this selection?! Or should use something like a jLabel and then change it`s font metrics?!
I need to keep track of the upper left corner of the text/image, as well as the width/height of it. This will be recorded in a file.
The text/images need to smoothly move around the panel as the mouse drags when selectin an entity.. not just "click the entity, then click another point and the entity appears there as if by magic...":)
Please, tell the best way to do that!
    Thanks everybody!

I know what you mean! This happened to me as well!
And one thing that I found useful is, if you want to directly select a layer without selecting from the layers pallete and without having autoselect enabled, just hold Ctrl and click on in directly in the image. This saved me a lot of time!

  • Moving sliders in CS6 with the mouse wheel?

In CS3 after clicking onto the slider "triangle" I can then adjust it with the mouse wheel.  I don't appear to be able to do this in CS6.  Can this be remedied?

    LOL!!!
JJ got my points in another thread today, too.

  • Problem with Desktop Background

So I've tried researching and figuring this out on my own but I nothing's working.
I few weeks ago I changed my desktop background to an image I have on iPhoto, changing the picture through the application itself, if I remember correctly.
About a week ago I decided I wanted to change my desktop background. I go to System Preferences and click on an image in a folder and, within minutes, the image I had before is on again. I've tried different pictures, different settings in "Desktop & Screen Savers," I've tried deleting com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.plist as suggested in http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10696928 yet to no avail.
    Any other suggetions? Thanks.

It sounds like you might have already done this, but make sure the Change Picture option is off in System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Saver.

  • Moving Images with the mouse

Sorry I am still fairly new to Java. I have a project due that will require me to move images with the mouse. And I was wondering if someone could give me the basics of doing this. Right now I only need to know how to move the image any where on the screen.

    1) dredge up a thread that's more than 2 years old, and
    2) provide us with hardly any information about your problem, what you've done, what's worked, what's failed.
