Desktop content viewer doesn't rotate on Mac

Using the latest tools on both platforms on Win (Vista) the viewer can be rotated using Cntrl R but on the Mac (Leopard) it doesn't rotate (using R and any of the usual modifyer keys), is this a bug?

Hi Graham,
on a Mac Command+R will rotate the Desktop Viewer. Perhaps you might have issues with your folio (missing orientation)?

Ingo

  • Desktop Content Viewer

Suddenly my Desktop Content Viewer won't rotate the orientation when I click Control/Command/R.
It had been working fine, then stopped working when I added a new page with hyperlinked content (tried deleting the new pages in case they had some bad gris-gris, but didn't help.
Anyone had this problem or have an idea?
    Thanks in advance.

One possibility is the method you used to preview. If you click the Preview button in the Folio Builder panel, either the article or the folio is previewed, depending on what's selected. But if you choose File > Folio Preview or click the Preview button in the Overlay Creator panel, only the current document is previewed, in which case Command+R does nothing.

  • Desktop content viewer still doesn't scale 2048 folios?

    or does it?
if I'm creating a 2048x1536 folio in inDesign and preview it on the desktop the viewer doesn't scale to fit so i can only see half the page
anyone know a way around this, other than to create a 1024 doc?

Our v20 release will include the ability to zoom the desktop viewer smaller so you can preview folios for the new iPad.

  • Desktop Content Viewer won't appear in InDesign CS6

I am having an issue in CS6 Indesign with teh ADOBE DESKTOP CONTENT VIEWER.
I try to preview a folio using the desktop viewer and nothing happens, it silently fails.
I have uninstalled Indesign CS6 (including preferences), Uninstalled adobe Air 3.3. Uninstalled the content viewer.
rebooted, reinstalled air rebooted, reinstalled Indesign CS6 rebooted...
After installing InDesign CS6, i choose Help > Updates and updated the DPS Desktop Tools
    And it still doesn't work!
I think it may be to do with AIR rather than InDesign because it goes through the progressbars in InDesign and I have previously a BETA version of AIR that caused an issue else where, even though this is now uninstalled and the latest release of AIR is installed it still is failing to comunicate with AIR.
I also, based on another posts recomendation, installed earlier version of the tools, but this made no difference. I suspected it wouldnt as it installed to different version folders.
Its really frustrating as it works fine on a co-workers PC running 64bit WIndows 7
I now get this error if the folio is a new folio...
I deleted my current folio and started again and when i try to preview i get this...

    Hi Everyone,
I can see, for such a long time many people are facing this issue (Desktop Content Viewer won't appear in InDesign CS6)
Friends here is the solution of this distinguished problem.
    Steps: [For Window XP]
[Make sure your log-in has “Administration” rights]
Open My Computer [Window Key + E].
Open the Main Local Disk [C:].
    Click on “Search” tab above.
Click on “All files and folders”.
Write “AdobeContentViewer.air” in “All or part of the file name:” Box.
Click on “Search” [Now you can see “AdobeContentViewer.air” file]
Double click on “AdobeContentViewer.air” to install it.
    Select checkbox for “Desktop Shorcut”
Once it installed, open “Adobe Content Viewer” from the desktop.
    Now close “Adobe Content Viewer”.
Open Indesign Application and try to “Preview” your article/work from the “Folio Overlay Panel”
I hope this will work for you.
Guys please share your experience after performing the above.

  • Desktop content viewer disappeared

    Hello,
I'm using cs6 design standard for mac. After an update of the "desktop content viewer" yesterday, I get an error message, whenever I try to preview the folder builder from indesign and the error says that indesign can't find the adobe content viewer.
So I called the adobe support hotline and tried every tipp the friendly man gave me, but still no content viewer.
I also tried to show the hidden files on my computer – nothing. But one thing is strange: there's no "installer folder" at the adobe folder in the library.
So how can I get the adobe content viewer back? Has anybody a solution for this problem?
    That would be great!

  • Preview working on Desktop Content Viewer - not on iPad

    Hello all,
As the title suggests, I have a page layout with MSO's and buttons within it that works perfectly well on the content viewer, but then doesn't work on iPad.
    To give a brief overview...
I have one MSO with 5 states... It is a block of text on the left with two buttons in a column on the right hand side of the page.
Each of these buttons when clicked reveals an image over the top of the text so you can gain an idea of what the text is talking about. So...
    State 1: Text
    State 2: Text w/ Image 1
    State 3: Text w/ Image 2
    State 4: Text w/ Image 3
    State 5: Text w/ Image 4
Now as the images are two sets (I don't want you to be able to view them all in one go, one after the other) I've had to change the destination each button links you to within each Multi state. This is quite hard to explain, but I will try...
    State 1
Button 1 clicks to: State 2
Button 2 clicks to: State 4
    State 2
Button 1 clicks to: State 3
Button 2 clicks to: State 4
    State 3
Button 1 clicks to: State 1
Button 2 clicks to: State 4
    State 4
Button 1 clicks to: State 2
Button 2 clicks to: State 5
    State 5
Button 1 clicks to: State 2
Button 2 clicks to: State 1
    Essentially the flow is...
Read the text, click Button 1 to view Image 1, then Image 2... then another click takes you back onto the text.
Then clicking Button 2 to view Image 3, then Image 4... and then back onto the text again.
Obviously I am open to suggestions if I have approached the logic of this wrong, but I was just curious because as I said, it works on the desktop viewer and then not on the iPad.
To note: I have read up on potential bugs, and so have removed < >'s from the layering names, as well as making sure there are no transparencies as I've heard these can cause problems.
    Many thanks,
    Liam

I have a similar problem. My folio has hyperlinks that bring the user to another page in the same article. They work on the content viewer on my mac but not on my ipad help anyone?

  • Content viewer doesn't show folio preview on connected iPad

    Hi all,
since I updated the content viewer on the latest version (3.0.0), I don't get a preview of my ID article on my connected iPad (from the panel "folio overlays")! What kind of bug is this? I really often use this function and I MISS it now!! What can I do?
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

Hi, thank you, but I don't find my kind of problem there.
    I try to describe better...
BEFORE, I could always see a preview of my actual Indesign Document in the conten viewer. I would just connect my iPad, then choose "Vorschau auf dem iPad" (preview on the iPad) in the folio overlay panel.
NOW, I don't get this choice any more; Indesign only shows "Preview on the desktop" - ALTHOUGH I have my iPad connected and my content viewer running.
I have the same problem with two Macs and two iPads, so it really seems to be some kind of bug on this latest content viewer version?!

  • Desktop Content Viewer crashes every time

I can't get the Adobe Content Viewer for the desktop to stop from crashing on my MacBook Air. Even if I launch it separately, outside of InDesign. Anyone know what to do about this? I've reinstalled Folio Producer tools, but to no avail and am desperate to get it to work. Thanks.

I would try deleting all versions of it (including CS6) from the Applications > Adobe folder, and then either reinstall the Folio Producer tools or just open the package and drill down (AdobeDigitalPublishing-mul > payloads > AdobeContentViewer-mul > AdobeContentViewer.air) to install the desktop viewer.

  • Adobe Content Viewer doesn't seem to update

    Hi,
I have just produced a folio with 2 articles, it says my folio is now in the cloud but when I go to Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad nothing shows up. It says 'Updating Library' for about 5 seconds then stops.
    I think I am using the latest folio builder (11.4.3.20111129_m_672305 / 7.5.5.17 in CS5.5.
    Any suggestions? Many thanks.

    Hi Bob,
Have just tried your suggestion, signing out of acrobat.com and killing the app completely and restarting but no improvement.
After opening the folio in my browser on acrobat.com's folio producer, it says  "Missing or unable to load layout". I'm guessing this has something to do with it?

  • Desktop Content Viewer R27 hides interactivity

    Is it new or… ?
    I make an inDesign page.
There's a button controling an MSO
    Everything works fine.
    I switch back to inD.
When i come back to Content Viewer, the button has disappeared.
Workaround : to make that button reappear, i can ask to see the Table of Contents, when leaving the ToC, button will be there.

    Hi Franck,
Could you send me the InDeisgn file (a simple one that can demo the problem)?
You can mail it to me at [email protected]
I would like to take a look at this.
    Thanks,
    Ted

  • Content viewer won't appear on desktop in CS6

In CS6, do you now have to create a Folio in order to preview content in the Desktop Content Viewer? In CS5.5 I clicked Preview at the bottom of the Overlay Creator Panel and it would come up on my desktop. In CS6, when I click Preview at the bottom of the Folio Overlay panel the Desktop Content Viewer does not appear on my desktop. I went to update my DPS tools again but it says they are all updated. And now when I save the file down to a CS5.5 version, I open it in 5.5 and the Desktop Content Viewer doesn't work there now either.

I am having the same issue in CS6 Indesign. I try to preview using the desktop viewer and nothing happens, it silently fails.
I have uninstalled Indesign CS6 (including preferences), Uninstalled adobe Air 3.3. Uninstalled the content viewer.
rebooted, reinstalled air rebooted, reinstalled Indesign CS6 rebooted...

  • Acrobat Content Viewer 2.1 Mac

    Hi everybody!
I have a doubt regarding the utilization of the desktop viewer for Mac "Acrobat Content Viewer" (updated to the version 2.1.0 with the last couple of patches  DigitalPublishing-Tools and FolioPanel).
What happens is that I launch it and it is ok until I drag&drop one single .folio file but I am not able to load the entire publication which is composed of several .folio files because if I select multiple .folio files the "Acrobat Content Viewer" does not accept them!
What I was expecting was that by drag&drop the .zip file that I had downloaded after publishing and exporting from my DPS dashboard I could be able to preview it on my Mac desktop with the "Acrobat Content Viewer" instead it seems it does not work, so the question is: do I have a wrong version of "Acrobat Content Viewer" or it simply is not a feature to preview an entire publication on my desktop?
    Thanks!

I've never known this to be a feature in the Desktop Content Viewer. It will view a single .folio file. Some publishing systems will combine all of your folio files into a single folio file so it could be viewed that way.
Someone feel free to correct me if they know otherwise.

  • Content Viewer on Mac not previewing

I have been able to preview my test folios on the iPad, but for some reason I have never got Content Viewer on my Mac to work. I use InDesign CS5.5 and Content Viewer 1.4. When it tries to load a .folio file the blue bar gets to the end and it hangs. Does the same thing with anything I try and preview... have reinstalled everything about 5 times... any ideas? Thanks very much.

The current desktop content viewer version number is 1.8 -- so your content viewer is out of date- might not be the entire solution to your issue but could have something to do with it.

  • Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi all,
I get an error when I'm trying to test my PDF formatted folio on my desktop Adobe Content Viewer.
I get the error in Dutch (my language) but roughly it translates: "This folio contains one or more stacks that are not yet supported for the Content Viewer for Desktop. PDF stacks are only supported in iOS-viewers."
This happens when I click "preview" in the folio builder. I work on a Macbook with Mac OS X Lion.
Help would be appreciated since I can't find anything about this issue with PDF formatted folio's on the internet!
    Thanks.

@Haeme – does not work for me. Sometimes yes, sometimes the Desktop Content Viewer is showing is a gray field.
Will test further, if there are any constraints concerning the rendering process of different objects.
Tested again. I had some MSOs on the second page that prevented rendering. They contain nothing but empty rectangles.
After removing ONE of the MSOs the rendering was fine. Did not matter if I removed the one or the other MSO.

  • Content Viewer Issue on desktop

Hi all. I went to open a folio on my desktop ( MacBook Pro) we did this Spring, but now get this error -
I am completely up to date with the Cloud.I have also tried opening it with InDesign CS6 ( as we used that when creating it), but same message. How do you update a folio made  8 months ago to work with the latest desktop content viewer?  I am afriad to update my Content Viewer on my iPad as the folio is viewable there.
    Am I missing something obvious?
    Thnx for any help.
    Penny

Did you update DPS Desktop Tools? It sounds like you didn't. Perhaps try uninstalling/reinstalling InDesign CS6.
Don't be afraid to update the Content Viewer on the iPad. The newest version displays all previous formats.
