Desktop direct sync resets calendar alarms

Hi,
I am not setup on BES and I am sync'ing my 8320 direclty to my PC wiht BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
My problem is that after each sync, all of my calendar alarms for the last 24-48hours get reset and I get a burst of alarms from Outlook when the sync is complete.  The hand held does not show the burst of alarms.
Setting the switch in the BBDM for Synchronization>Calendar>Setup... "Remove alarm from past items" does not change the behavior.
HW: 8320 - T-mobile
BBDM 4.7.0.32
phone: v4.5.0.81
Outlook: 2003 SP3 11.8206.8221
Please let me know if anyone knows how to clean this up.  Thanks!
Thanks,
Frank

Have you seen any resolution?
I see a "Remove alarm for past items" in the Calendar setup for sync.  Doesn't appear to make any difference.  Going to try resetting to default and see what happens.  Maybe some combination of my tweaking is causing this.

  • Syncing Outlook Calendars and Contacts with iPhone - There is NO SOLUTION

I have searched the Apple support forums, Mac Forums, MS forums, spoken to Microsoft Support and iCloud support. Everybody says that there is no way to directly sync Outlook Calendars and Contacts with iPhone and other remote devices and nobody has a work around. I see 100s of forum threads started with this issue, most have no answer and the few that do are not offering solutions. I post this as a final effort to seek a solution! Who will be my savior? Or should I just admit defeat and allow myself to be cast aside in the battle between two giant corporate babies who don't like to play in the same sandbox?
Is my knight in shining armor out there?!

The information is correct, MS do not support the Dav standard in Outlook for Mac (but they do in Outlook for Windows), until they add support for it Calendars and Contacts will not work with Outlook for Mac.

  • Any App that will bi-directionally sync iPod Touch with Windows Desktop Outlook 2010 Tasks?

    Hi All
    iPod Touch 3rd gen iOS v 5.1.1
    iTunes (for Windows) v 10.7.0.21
Windows 7 32 bit Desktop PC
Outlook 2010 32 bit with POP3 mail server
Appigo ToDo app on iPod Touch
    I reside in Canada
I have been using Appigo's ToDo Task Manager app on my Touch for almost 3 years now. With their Appgio Sync conduit, I have been able to seemlessly bi-directionally sync between the Touch and Outlook Tasks on my Desktop. Now Appigo is no longer going to support Appigo Sync. I can keep using this sync conduit BUT I will no longer be able to update my Touch's ToDo app (eventually that will be a problem).
I DO NOT use iCloud and do NOT wish to use iCloud. I also do not wish to keep my tasks (which do contain confidential information) on anyone else's cloud server. Hence, I need the ability to direct sync between my Touch and my desktop.
I've been searching the web and the App Store looking for either a way to keep using ToDo with another sync method, OR another app that will allow syncing between the it on the Touch and my Desktop.
I don't care about syncing emails since they get downloaded on my Touch regardless. I don't care about syncing Calendars and Contacts since that happens whenever I sync my Touch to iTunes.  Just Outlook Tasks that need to be synced. I also don't care for Reminders - seems like a waste of space IMHO.
I can't be the only person on the planet that doesn't want to use a cloud server, doesn't have an email exchange server and wants to keep tasks in both handheld device and desktop in sync. Please, please, please, any and all suggestions and help will be most appreciated!! IF I need to go to iOS v 6+, then I will need to purchase a new iPod Touch; a huge expense when the Touch I have is still working fine (but if one has to, one has to).
    Thanks a bunch

I'm in a similar position. Just recently migrated to iPhone from Blackberry (and liking it) but would only do so after confirming that I could sync Outlook tasks to the iPhone. Using ToDo and Appigo sync was the solution and it has worked fine. And I deal with Calendar and Contacts in a similar fashion as you.
I'm not sure I understand the options. I don't have a basic "cloud as a process objection" and cost isn't an issue. But I do want my tasks to end up synced on both my laptop (on the hard drive) and on my iPhone (and soon to come iPad). A variation on your question. Is there no way to do this?

  • Using DeskTop Software to Sync my calendar

I recently purchased a new laptop. Previously I used the desktop software to sync my Microsoft Outlook calendar. I decided not to purchase Outlook this time and am using Windows Live Mail. However, when I sync, my calendar isn't updating on my phone (BB curve 8530) My carrier is Verizon and version is v5.0.0.973. Can anyone answer the question -am I able to sync my Live calendar and if so how?

BlackBerry Desktop Software utilizes Apple's SyncServices technology in order to synchronize Contact, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks information to and from the Mac computer.
BlackBerry Desktop Software synchronizes information with the SyncServices database, which is synchronized with the desktop applications on the Mac computer (for example: Apple Address Book, iCal, Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook for Mac). BlackBerry Desktop Software does not synchronize directly to or from the desktop applications on the Mac computer.
Mac OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later does not use SyncServices, therefore, it is not possible to synchronize Contact or Calendar information using the BlackBerry Desktop Software on these versions of OS X.
For more information on SyncServices and OS X Mavericks, see the following Apple Support article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5847
Note: BlackBerry Desktop software 2.4 is still supported for use with Mac OS X v10.6, 10.7, and 10.8.

  • Calendar Alarms not syncing

So I have a gmail that is my primary calendar that I use, and I use iCal to primarily add or edit the events on my calendar.
For several years, it would push through the cloud to both my iPhone and to my gmail calendar that I have opened in any browser, along with any alarms I added to any of my events.  For about the past week, these alarms have stopped pushing from my calendar to gmail and to my phone.
The odd thing is that the event itself would push to gmail and my phone wirelessly, but not the alarms themselves.
Anyone else encounter this?  Or has nayone found a work around?
    Thanks!

It is one way or both? Are you just syncing to the local computer, or to Exchange? Have you tested to see if contacts and notes are syncing? I had a little trouble the other day, and it was actually some time after I updated to iOS8, but before I updated to iOS8.0.2. That did not correct it, but it was just the calendar that wasn't syncing. If I changed something on the phone, I would get the warning on the computer iTunes that it was going to change data (I have it set to warn me of any change) but it didn't change anything. So, I tried a number of things and no go. I added a contact and a note to the phone, and the same to Outlook, did a sync and they both worked, just calendar. So I went back to iTunes, selected the Info tab and changed the sync setting for Outlook. I had an old calendar that I deleted from Outlook calendars, but it still showed on the list of individual calendars in iTunes. I changed the setting from syncing all calendars to selected calendars and chose the deleted calendar. Then I clicked on Apply. Well, for some reason, when it attempted to sync and found that calendar no longer existed, it reset the list of calendars and the sync corrected itself and has been working ever since. Don't ask my why or how, it is just working!

I have always synced my calendars on my ipad 2 ios 7 to those on my desktop mini running   OS 10.6.8. Now my calendars do not sync from the ipad to the mini. I need to have them coordinated

Because I have been a Mac user since 1989, I have many, many docs that are created in programs not campatible with 10. 7, so I still use a manual sync with snow leopard and my ipad, not the cloud as it is not available on snow leopard. I am signed on in both places with my one ID and password

  • Desktop manager for mac not syncing with calendar

Desktop manager just started to give me a sync error yesterday when syncing the calendar. I receive no error message for the contacts. I use desktop manager for mac. I have never had this issue before. I updated desktop manager yesterday after the sync error but, that did not correct the problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the reply yancy.
What error message are you receiving?  Are you only synchronizing to Ical or Entourage?
Also have you attempted to forget the device and the re-setup the synchronization?
To forget the device, go into Device>Forget Device.  Unplug the BlackBerry, plug it back into the Mac.
I look forward to your reply.

  • Curve 8310 Problems Syncing Outlook Calendar & Desktop Manager Freezing

Hi: I recently bought a Curve 8310. It has Desktop Manager version 4.2.2.14; my laptop has Vista Home Premium and I use Outlook 2007.
Just a day or two ago Desktop Manager started crashing while syncing Outlook Calendar. It stops at Calendar entry 76 and then freezes. From checking the Technical Solution Center I understand the problem may be a corrupt Calendar entry. Dealing with this apparently involves going into Configure Synchronization but Desktop Manager won't let me do this. If I start it when the phone is connected to my laptop it doesn't register the connection and often freezes. If I start it, then connect the phone, and stop the synchronization process before it crashes Manager, clicking on any of the Desktop Manager ikons, including Synchronize, doesn't have any effect. I've tried reinstalling Desktop Manager from the CD supplied by my phone provider but it's made no difference.
I'd be grateful for any advice; Before this problem developed I was really enjoying my BlackBurry.

    Hi,
First we need to do a clean reinstall of the software to makes sure all registry and files have been completely removed:
     Link 1.
Then we need too reinstall the 4.2 software, taking into account the Vista considerations for install:
    Link 2
After install reboot the PC, start DM, Pull the battery while the device is ON, replace after a minute,
Let the device reboot 1-3 min,  Plug the BB into the USB cable, Go to synchronization options and rest the options to only
Synch the calendar, sync for two way, select no other programs. Start the sync process.
Please let us know the results,

  • Desktop sync for calendar

    Hi everyone.
This is my first post.  I have a user who is connected through wireless sync through the BES but he wants to be setup to sync his calendar from his pc since he is connected to the domain through a vpn tunnel.  Everytime I set his handheld to disable wireless sync for the calendar it works, but when I hook it up to the machine and configure the sync options for the calendar it doesnt work.  It says it is disabling it because wireless sync is configured.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

So you go into the Calendar Options and set the wireless sync to No, and it still gives you that error?
Can you try first starting by leaving the BlackBerry disconnected from the computer, then changing the setting to No, then do into the Desktop Manager and make the change?

  • Desktop Software Sync Calendar not installed???

I have always been able to Sync my BB 9700 with my PC using Desktop Software, but now after updating the software to 6.1.0.35 my calendar is not syncing. It actually says beside Calendar on the software that it is (not installed). This happened before but was able to get support from Rogers to fix it. Now they will not offer support and I don't recall how it was fixed. When I go to the Organizer on the desktop software and Select Calendar under Select Organizer Data to Synchronize this is where it says Calendar (not Installed). Can't find where to get it installed. Any suggestions?

Found some solution here that works for me:
You need to update your Blackberry settings. On the device (not on the Desktop Manager) go to Options -> Advanced Settings -> Default Services and select the email account for Outlook as your default calendar.
For some reason it selects other services, like Google or Facebook for the calendar by default.
After updating these settings on the device, you can go to Organizer -> Configure Settings on the Desktop manager and it should allow you to configure Calendar Sync this time.
    Hope this helps,
    Sincerely,
    Oleg.

  • Unable to sync TX calendar with Outlook 2003 (Windows XP)

Last week I noticed that random past diary entries were gradually disappearing from my TX with each Hotsync without me changing any settings or receiving any error message. They went 1st from Outlook on my PC but remained on my TX and then all non-recurring anniversaries pre-2008 disappeared from my handheld too.  Future events were fine though.
We contacted Palm Live Chat twice but got nowhere.  They couldn’t retrieve the lost data; tell me why it had happened or what to do to stop it happening again.  I was quite upset because I’d lost 5 years’ diary entries and then annoyed when I scrolled through the help forums and saw how many people were experiencing similar problems.
Luckily, I managed to find an old version of my calendar up to last summer in Palm Desktop on our laptop.  So we copied it over to the PC via a memory stick, changed the PIM conduit temporarily and synced the TX with Palm Desktop (version 4.2), making sure the HS icon was customised to synchronise the calendar files.  But what it did instead was overwrite the calendar on the TX with that from Palm Desktop, effectively wiping all calendar entries from last summer off the handheld – including all my future plans.
In an attempt to get these back, we changed the PIM conduit back to sync with Outlook and tried again.  Now everything has come to a total standstill.  Luckily, my calendar events from this year and the future are still in Outlook but it won’t now sync with my TX at all.  When I try to HS, the TX seems to do a soft set and reboot itself back to the factory date & time setting page.
     We have also tried:
    ·                      Disabling Windows Automatic Updates before performing a Hotsync
    ·                      Running the repair feature in Office 2003
    ·                      Running DBFixIt
None of that has thrown up any errors and I have got myself in an increasingly desperate tangle.  The latest HS log is below and it looks as if I’ve probably duplicated lots of files I shouldn’t have by desperately swapping between Outlook and Palm desktop (take a deep breath – it’s huge ….)  Can anyone please help me?  I’m so fed up about this.

Problems with a calendar sync in Outlook can generally be traced to a corrupt appointment at some time. It can happen from a shutdown in Outlook or any number of other reasons. If you can remember when the trouble began, see if you can locate an appointment on that day. You can also try and reset the sync history in iTunes, and can also run scanpst.exe and troubleshoot your Outlook file.
I've used every version of Outlook since 2000 and have been able to trace this issue a couple of times to an appointment that has a recurring setting. You can change the view of your appointments and list them. When you do that, you may be able to locate an appointment that doesn't look right. I had to print out all of my appointments once and then reenter them. Luckily I didn't have that many, so it didn't matter. Again, this is usually something corrupt in the Outlook file that will make the problem appear, and since everything else in Outlook is syncing except the calendar, that is the place to look.

  • OS 10.8 Calendar Alarms Are a Mess

What happened to alarms in Calendar? They used to work. They worked as one would expect alarms to work.
Now I get notified (only after 9 am) of events that happened yesterday even though the alarm was set for the day of the event. Snooze options? May as well drop them from the app rather than taunt the user with choices that are no choices.
9 am? This has got to be an arbitrary decision by a nameless developer at Apple. This person lives in a world different from the rest of us. I'd love to have been in on the team meeting for that decision. How does Calendar serve those people who work and function through the night?
Now we have Reminders. Hobble Calendar to drive users to Reminders. Is this the notion? If it is that's guile. That is definitely a step in the wrong direction.
I've been a loyal and devoted Apple user since 1989. Mountain Lion is the first "upgrade" that is pushing me away from Apple.
I earn my living as a documentation specialist. I use Macs and Windows machines all day, every day. My preference has always been Mac but I tell you that is beginning to change. In both worlds, so-called advancements are actually hindrances to productivity.
Seems developers work in a vacuum without having to rely on their applications to make a living.
Newsstand crashes on my iPad - it has for some time now without resolution-still does as of this am with the latest iOS update installed
Calendar alarms are essentially useless so I'm shopping for a third party app
Reminders get Calendar categories but don't harvest the data. You have to enter that again. It's in Calendar already!
Notes don't sync with Notes in Outlook so that's useless
Maps is a huge failure. It's replaced what was once an excellent app with Street View being a wonder. They've fixed that to where it's useless. It locates people in my address book in places not even close to where they are. Who at Apple figured that what was available needed fixing to point of Maps being unusable?
The developer of Paperless can't support scanners in Mountain Lion so now I'm required to use the software (old, clunky, and still working) the scanner came with to get the same job done
My 160GB iPod is no longer recognized by my Mac's OS and hasn't been for some time. They still sell those iPods?
I don't understand the approach to "improving" functioning apps to point of making them useless.
Apple—I'm swiftly becoming disenchanted. Not that anyone there will ever see this message. It's a shout into the void. I vote with my monetary investments. I'm fortunate enough to make a good living and can purchase whatever products I choose. It's always been Apple but I have to say my support is dropping like the functionality in applications.

Mac OS 10.8.4 is still in beta. You need to be reporting this to Apple.
What happens if you move these profiles to the Adobe/Profiles folder, or the users/Library/Colorsync/Profiles folder?
There has been a lot of discussion of this on many forums with no solution.
What forums? A google search turns up nothing but this thread.
I have not seen this problem with the released versions of 10.8.

  • Calendar Alarm Options

It seems that it is possible for the calander alarm to ring a maximum of 3 times before shutting off. Repeat notifications only give the option of  LED flashing or none.
I need my calendar alarm to keep ringing until I turn it off, or at least ring 8 or 9 times and reset itself to ring again in a few minutes.
    Is this possible?
If not, is there another calendar program that will do this and still be able to sync with my Yahoo or Google calendar, or back up in some other way?
    Thanks,
    Nicolo
