Desktop folder not updating

This is very odd. Most files that get saved onto my Desktop folder by applications simply doesn't appear there - not on the desktop, not in the desktop folder in the finder, nowhere. But the file's there, 'cos in the terminal 'ls' can see it fine.
Some weird symtoms:
- If I 'mv' it to another folder, the file shows up in that folder in the finder.
- If I then 'mv' it back to ~/Desktop, it vanishes from the finder
- If I instead 'mv' it out, but then move it back in using the finder, it shows up fine.
- Safari's .download files do show up. But the final download does not, and further the .download files don't disappear from the desktop. If I click on one of these files, the finder remembers that the file doesn't exist, and disappears it.
It's not permissions - Desktop has the same permissions as Documents, which doesn't exhibit this problem. Plus, that wouldn't explain the phantom .download files left on my desktop.

Opening the trash shows all the files, however, by clicking on them they disappear and after clickiing on all of them, they all disappeared and the trash can icon finally was empty.
This sounds very much as if some events are not being handled by the finder and the finder refreshed.

JavaFX packager DMG shows Desktop Folder not Applications Folder

I'm using JDK 8 EA, when I generate the DMG using Netbeans 7.4 the resulting DMG shows the Desktop icon folder instead of the Applications folder. What setting can I set to generate the DMG to use the Applications folder instead of the Desktop folder?

Files creating through remote desktop is not updating in office computer

Hi,
we are currently using windows 2008 standard server for terminal service. colleagues are allowed to work through rdp. Recently one of my colleague said, when he is accessing the terminal server through remote, the files, folders and whatever he creates in
his home computer is not updating in office computer. what ever he creates, he is attaching them through email and come back to office and working.
can anyone please help to resolve this problem.? if you need more details I will update it.

Icons for images on desktop do not update when edited in Preview

I didn't know what topic to put this in but I guess I consider this a Finder issue.
Here's the problem: In both Leopard and Tiger, when I edit something in Preview and save it the little icon preview image on my desktop (you know, above the file name) does not change, even after I restart. I know the world isn't going to end because of it but it has gotten to the point where I'll edit things in Photoshop instead of Preview just to get the stupid icon to be accurate, otherwise I don't know if I've worked on a picture already or not. It would save me from a lot of time wasted booting up Photoshop just to crop an image.
I also noticed that the Spotlight comments (when I use "get info" on the file) still describe the picture in its larger format before cropping. It just doesn't seem to update itself. The image I am looking at as an example is a PNG right now but I'm sure it has happened with jpegs as well. (generally I'll just go into Photoshop in the end and save from there to update the icon out of frustration)
Can this be fixed? It would certainly make me enjoy using Preview a little more.
I thought this would go away with a Leopard upgrade but it doesn't seem to.

Palm Desktop will not update with Data after HotSync

Palm Centro
Windows Vista
Desktop v6.2.2.
HotSynch Manager 7.0.2.2.
I have a Palm Centro with Windows Vista. Everytime I HotSync, some of the Desktop items (Calendar, Contacts, Etc.) are updated. I uploaded Palm Desktop so it is the latest version. When I look at the log files, I see the following:
To Do synchronized successfully
Memo Pad synchronized successfully
Backed up some files successfully
Back up 4 files sucessfully
MultiMail BData
Messages Database
HxSyncRegistry
Saved Preferences
Failed to Backup 1 file
Pm TraceDatabase
Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened (4004)
SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN
Any Suggestions on what the bug or setting might be causing this error?

Have you messed with versamail on the device any? Sounds like you have configured an eas account on the device either accidently or intentially, you will have to delete that account before you can sync contacts and calendar to your pc.
Once you have configured versamail to sync any email account you have to have atleast one set up so you will need to set up a new email account either fake or real before you can delete the eas account.

Desktop does not update when I change networks

I'm having this odd behavior that I hope someone can shed some light on.
My desktop is set to keep my icons arranged by name. All of my volumes appear on the desktop, as well. I've noticed in recent weeks that whenever I switch networks, my desktop stops updating. It happens when I unplug my ethernet at work and move to the wireless network, or when I pack up, come home, and connect to my wireless network at home. When I connect to a network volume or plug in my iPod, the icons do not appear on my desktop. Or, if I delete a file from my desktop, it leaves an empty space instead of rearranging the icons like I have it set to do.
I've found two ways to fix it.
(1) Relaunch Finder.
(2) Open the Desktop View Options (Command-J) and adjust the grid spacing.
Once I do either of these things, all of the icons rearrange appropriately and network volumes I've connected to since switching networks appear. However, on Monday, when I go in to work, I'll have to do one of those two things again.
Maybe it's just a nuisance, but I worry that behavior like this is a symptom of a larger problem. I can't think of any new software I've installed that might be causing this trouble. I've repaired permissions and deleted caches and all that stuff. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Since changing the grid spacing fixes things, I don't think this is a switching network issue. It sounds to me like its a switching screen resolutions issue. I'm guessing that you have your machine plugged into a monitor at one location and not the other, or you have monitors of different sizes/resolutions at both locations. You can test this theory by simply changing your screens resolution once you get your machine into this state. If it fixes the problem, then I was right.
As far as a permanent fix, I don't think there is one. Only workarounds like you have already discovered.

Documents folder not updated

Documents, Movies, Pictures folder icons haven't been updated to the new Yosemite. All the other icons have (OneDrive, Google Drive haven't but I figured that has more to do with them). Does anyone have an idea of how to make those look like the new Yosemite folder icons? I don't want to copy and paste (because I like to be a pain) but I'd like to have the new versions across. I've already copied and pasted regular folder icons for the third-party folders that didn't change. I can do the same but again, I'd like the new versions.

Pretty much everything in the document still applies to SharePoint 2013, but not to SharePoint Online. The problem with exporting to Excel and trying to use that is that it exports a spreadsheet that is linked to the list, not a regular spreadsheet.
So when you download it to create a pivot table it would break the links. I really don't think there is a way to do this at the moment with SharePoint online. There are ways to do it with SharePoint 2013 On-premise. But the support
for PowerPivot hasn't hit SharePoint online yet.

CC desktop will not update apps to 2014

Hello,
i am having an issue updating my current apps to 2014. CC desktop will open and show that the updates are available but when i click update it goes to a blank screen. i have a laptop that i also use and know that after the first app you want to update is clicked it will give you new privacy laws or whatever and you have to agree to that before continuing. it seems like it is getting caught somewhere before loading that page.

thanks for the attempt; however it did not work. the application window only goes blank AFTER i click 'update' on an application. sometimes is just stays on the screen like i have not clicked anything except it won't let me click the 'update' button.
it is weird because i am running the same everything on my laptop except laptop has less ram and slower processor and it updated fine with no troubles. only on my desktop.

quad i7 3.4
16gb ram
64-bit win 7 home premium
519Gb available HDD space
running CC desktop version 1.6.0.393 (installer says 2.6.0.393)

I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.

Flash Players in CS6 Flash Pro Folder not updating

I have two instances of Flash player 11.2.202.228 in Applications/Adobe Flash CS6/Players and Applications/Adobe Flash CS6/Players/Release. When I run the installer for the latest 11.3.300.271 version, it installs the pug-in correctly for Safari, Chrome and Firefox (and I've verified that), but it leaves these older players in the applications folder. Further, Adobe Application Manager (which governs the CS6 updates) says everything is up-to-date. Does anyone know how to update those?
I've tried Adobe Chat support but after 45 minutes of that, the person refused to help because Player is a free product and didn't car that I was a paid subscriber to CS6.

They don't update. It works as it should. If you need updated versions for deployment or whatever, download them from the respective page. Otherwise there's no point in obsessing over this, if your browsers use the correct version already.

Mail - imap drafts folder not updating on server

I have my mail setup to LEAVE any mail draft in the drafts folder on the server. I used 3 different mac book pros and my draft messages are only appearing on the system where I 'drafted' them. In the past this was working.
All other foldrers are behaving as I would expect. How can I rectify this? Thanks.

That is in fact what is going on - a version of the draft is stored locally on my laptop for example in DRAFTS and when I try to access the 'drafts' on another system, the draft is in some IMAP draft folder.
Not exactly intutive but as long as they are stored that's what is important to me.

TS Workspace/RemoteApp and Desktop Connections not updating after update(KB2830477 and KB2857650)

we are using the "RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" to Access our RDP-Infrastructure with Windows 7 Clients. We have a Windows Server 2012 with RD Web Access Role installed and i changed the authentication Settings on the RDWeb page to use Windows
Authentication so that we don't get any extra Password prompt.
Prior Update KB2830477 and KB2857650 the feed was downloaded/updated via
https://rdweb.domain.com/rdweb/feed/webfeed.aspx without any Problem. If i check the Wireshark logs i see two http get requests without credentials (401 Unauthorized) and the third with a valid Kerberos Ticket which passes through. The tsworkspace.dll
Version is 6.1.7601.17514 and the update Command is "%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\RUNDLL32 tsworkspace,TaskUpdateWorkspaces"
After i installed the updates mentioned above tsworkspace.dll has Version 6.1.7601.18270 and the automatic update doesn't work anymore. If i try a Manual update via the gui i get two 401 Unauthorized in Wireshark and after that a Password prompt.
If i type in my credentials it is working fine, but the automatic one doesn't ask for credentials.
Is there any way i can fix this?

CC Desktop will not update.

Win 7 x64. PS & LR CC apps working. Loggon to desktop and it tried to update and failed.
Only blank issues show. The DeskTop C app shortcut was removed from Start menu.
Only way to try again was clicking "Creative Cloud.exe" in c:\Program Files(x86) which
gives same result.
What do I do now?

Sounds similar to my problem. CC Desktop loads and correctly shows all the 2014 updates. But when I click on Update or Update All, the CC Desktop goes blank and nothing happens. In addition, when I click on the settings icon, only Help, Pin to Notification Area, and Quit are available (although perhaps that's normal when updating). I've replaced the opm.db file and installed the latest version of CC Desktop, all to no avail.

Last twelve Months Folder not updating

When I import photos into iPhoto, not all the photos will go into the Last Twelve Months folder. Some do some don't. They're all from the same camera. Seems like if I import a photo it should go directly into the folder, after all it's a Smart Folder.
I did a search on the Forum because I thought I read at some point there's an issue with Last twelve Months if Photo Stream is enabled. Nothing came up in the search though.

If the problem comes back you may have to try deleting the iPhoto preference file and see if that fixes it permanently.

My Music iTunes folder not updating

My iTunes music folder in My Music folder does not have all my music that is my iTunes. It also does not organize the files of music anymore when I put them in that folder. I have the 'keep organized iTunes' box checked under preferences and advanced, and the one underneath it. What's going on?

first of all not being mean but your in the mac forum. i would have to say that your importing using the wrong methods. You metioned about adding to the iTunes Music folder. With mac anyway it shure fire to import or download using iTunes itself, and not the internal folders.
