Desktop for Lifedrive and Z22

What is the best way to support both a Z22 and a Lifedrive on Windows XP?  It seems like there are two options. One would be to install only desktop 4.1.4E which supports both, but is not the recommended version for the Z22.  The other would be to install both desktop 4.1.4E and desktop 6.2 and configure Windows so different users use the appropriate version.  That seems more complicated.  What is the downside to using 4.1.4E for the Z22 vs. 6.2?
Thanks.

Be happy to.  I did contact AOL and this was the response I recieved:

As you can see, it would appear at that AOL has no intentions of updating AOLDTFM.  Since the program will open, but immediately crashes and the icon is not covered with an X, my guess, there may be a small tweak that can be done to get it working again.  Perhaps there is a viable solution.

I have an iMac desktop for home and recently bought an iPhone 4s. I was receiving my email on both, but now it only goes to my phone. How do I remedy this?

My problem is the opposite. My desktop apparently removes the mail from the mail servers before my iPad can read it.
One of my email accounts is a POP account. mail has a setting to leave the mail on the server, but I can't see that it makes any difference. The mail going to that account still doesn't make it to my iPad. I also have an IMAP account, but I don't see a similar setting.
I would like to be able to use my desktop as my main email platform, but I also want to see the latest using my iPad when I am traveling.

    Hello guys,
Could you please confirm that the latest version 8.0.15 is compatible with WIN 2000 Server connections? If not, could you please advise which version of Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac is the match in order to connect to a WIN 2000 server.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hello Bogdan
WIN 2000 is supported. See a complete list of supported Windows SKUs here:

  • AOL Desktop for Mac and Mavericks

After installing Mavericks on my iMac, I was pleased to discover that all of my existing programs were working with the exeception of AOL Desktop for Mac.  That program crashes on launch.  It worked fine with Mountain Lion.  While I'm sure not very many people still use this program, I was wondering if those that do were having the same problem and have you found any fixes?  Thanks

  • Updated from MF 7 to 8.0 and now double click or right click shortcut on desktop for MF and nothing at all happens. Whats wrong?

I get no response at all when I try to open Firefox.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • How to improve my desktop for WoW and Diablo 3?

I have to run WoW and Diablo 3 with the minimum settings and even in a full environment (25 man raid (WoW) or 4 person group (D3)) I will still lag and it causes problems. So I am trying to determine where I need to get upgrades. And if it will be cheaper to buy the upgrades itself or if I just need to invest into an entire new desktop all together.

I am simply trying to find out if I can go out and buy updates for my computer to make it run these games better.
I am quite worried for when WoW: Mists of Pandaria is released if my computer will even be able to handle it.

    Hi bleroy524,
You may want to do a complete replacement of your desktop.  Reason being, your processor is kind of low and it may be hard to upgrade other components with it to make that much improvement.
If you do decide to do some new PC shopping, I would definitely recommend perusing our selection on BestBuy.com.
    Discrete Graphics Desktops on BestBuy.com
I find the "Narrow Your Results" filters on the left side of the site to be very useful to only show products with the features I'm interested in.
    Hope that helps!

  • Blackberry desktop for Mac and Bold 9900 - extremely slow syncing?

Is it just me or does it take forever just to sync a few changes to photos or music to my Bold 9900 using the Blackberry desktop on mac?   Ok granted the first time I added over 1000 songs, several playlists and about 40 photos from iPhoto via the sync software, it took over 3 hrs to sync.  Personally I find that extremely slow, especially when comparing to my ipad or iphone and itunes syncing.   Today I wanted just to remove one photo album from my phone, so unticked it and resynced again.   Over half an hour before it finished!  The registering media with device step takes a very long time, as does the initial preparation stage......  surely there must be something wrong?
Without the wifi sync feature i can't imagine it being practical just to add one song to my phone through this software before popping out with the phone in the car.... I would need to give myself over 30 minutes in advance.
Any advice or help most appreciated.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hey midinotes,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
It can take quite awhile to synchronize media to your BlackBerry.  Especially with the songs, 1000 songs it is normal to take a few hours.
The easiest way I add music to my BlackBerry is dragging the media files to the media card.  It's a lot quicker.

  • Error 500 from Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac and for iOS but not for Windows

I am running Windows Server Standard 2012 as a basic File server and Remote Access Server.  I am able to log into to Server remotely using Windows Remote Desktop Client on Windows 7 and 8 machines without problems
When I try to log in using outside the local network using MRD version 8.0.24308 using OS X 10.9.1 or using iOS 7.0.4, I get the following error:
" The gateway failed to connect with the message: 500 Internal Server Error"
I can also log in remotely WITHIN the local network on a Mac or iOS device, it works without getting an error
    Any Ideas?

My IT person has tried all these and I still get a 500 error when I log in from Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.5.
Here is part of the MRD log dump (not clear where to send the log since MRD doesn't provide an address when you dump the log into email):

  • How to partition my drive for  Mac and XP use?  from a novice

I would like to use my MacBook Pro for both Mac ad PC programs (Office and others) and hear that I can partition the drive.  How is the best way to do that?  Also I have an external Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex external drive to set up that supposedly can back up both Mac and PC without formatting each time.  Do I have to partition the drive first?  Do I use Time Machine?

Is it your intent to run Windows programs on your computer?  If so then this is more than simply a partitioning exercise.
In order to use an external drive on both Macs and PCs there are two options.  Option One is to partition and format the drive MBP and FAT32, respectively.  OS X can read/write a FAT32 formatted drive.  However, due to filesystem differences some features of the OS X filesystem are not supported by FAT32, so FAT32 is not the best choice for transferring OS X documents, but would be fine for transferring Windows documents.
Option Two is to partition the drive using GUID then creating two partitions.  One partition is formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled and the other partition is formatted FAT32.  Each partition can be used for the data from the appropriate platform.
TM is not a file transfer program, cannot be used for Windows documents, and does not work on Windows.
If you wish to run Windows on your Mac then see the following:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.
See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows. You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • AOL Desktop (PC) to AOL Desktop for Mac - Transferring Saved Emails

I just installed AOL Desktop for Mac and I'm trying to transfer my emails. There's no issue setting up the accounts and accessing my emails Saved on AOL, but I cannot access my emails Saved on my PC. The software doesn't have any feature to transfer these locally saved emails from PC to MAC.
The suggested solution is to forward all my saved emails to myself and save them on AOL. Then they'd be accessible on the mac. But I have thousands of emails so this isn't feasible.
Does anyone know how I might go about transfering my saved emails from AOL Desktop to AOL Desktop for Mac?
    Thank you

    Greetings Papahemi;
I too had the same problem.  Here is the solution.
Go to System Preferences and select General.
Near the bottom of the window, deselect (uncheck) "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."
Launch AOL Desktop, you'll still see the untitled windows.  No problem.  Now quit AOL and relaunch.  No more untitled windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can LifeDrive and T/X use the same desktop?

I am currently using a Lifedrive with a Windows XP desktop (version 4.1.4 and HotSync Manager 6.01). I was given a T/X with a dead digitizer. I replaced the digitizer and now the basic T/X works great.
My problem is I can not get the T/X to HotSync with my current desktop. Should I be able to HotSync my T/X with my current 4.1.4 desktop? If so, would I have to run the 4.1.4 installer a second time to get it to add the T/X to the desktop?
If I understand what I have read, I can not upgrade to the latest desktop, 6.2, because it does not support the Lifedrive.
    Thanks
    Post relates to: LifeDrive

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Yes, you should be able to sync both the LifeDrive and TX to the same desktop.  But you must give them separate and distinct Hotsync IDs...they cannot sync to the same Hotsync name because they require different system files which won't play nicely with each other.
Exactly what happens when you connect the TX and try to sync?  If you Hard Reset the TX, then connect and Hotsync, the software should recognize that the TX is a blank slate and let you create a new Hotsync ID for it.

  • I want to use my Time Capsule as a central 'hub/hard-drive' in order to keep all my working files in one place. I then plan to use my laptops/desktops as peripheral devices for editing and creation of these files. Is it possible? Create a personal cloud?

I want to use my Time Capsule as a central 'hub/hard-drive' in order to keep all my working files in one place. I then plan to use my laptops/desktops as peripheral devices for editing and creation of these files. Is it possible? To create a personal cloud?
Can someone advise as to whether i can do the following:
Future Internet connection -------------------TIME CAPSULE (containing all files) -------------- Backed up on the WD 2T Hard-drive I have
(not connected yet)                                         I                                                          (*connected to timecapsule physically)
                                                                                                            I
                    I                                         I                                                I                                                              I                                                I
Macbook Pro                             iMac                                       HP (PC)                                             OLD Macbook Pro                         iPhone
(used for remote working)       (Used for home working)     (used for heavy CAD and rendering)    (not being used for anything at the moment)        (& iPods)
I am looking to have all my files in one place as i am hopelessly disorganised. I know the online clouds are a good solution (used Dropbox at work and uni for 3 years) however i am wanting to create my own 'dropbox/icloud' at home. So whenever i get back home with my laptop, any work i have been working on whilst out that day is updated to the timecapsule, and then ultimately as i turn on the other devices, they update to those newer versions of the files. Please tell me that the 3TB time capsule i have can do this, otherwise it feels rather overpriced as a wireless storage device?
Another note (to those in the know) If i am to be working on large files (REVIT/SOLIDWORKS/KEYSHOT/CREO/AUTOCAD) - is the timecapsule connection good enough to support editing and updating these files?
I know i may be asking a question that many have before, but as a bit of a technical novice I wanted a clear-cut answer to my specific circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated.
(*can i use this WD hard-drive that is connected to the Time Capsule as a back up? so that the time machine back-ups/any back ups are also backed up onto this one? can the WD be a backup for the TC?)
    Kind Regards
    Joe

The diagram was supposed to look more like this......
Internet ---------TIME CAPSULE(containing all files) --------WD 2T Harddrive
                                                I
         I                           I                          I                            I                                   I

    Sorry!

    1. verify on another Mac first. and another port.
    2. very likely dead SATA card
    read about it here:
Your dead external hard drive is likely fine! Great hope for your 'faulty' external HD
