Desktop Icons Stacked in lower right of Desktop

Since installing Tiger, when I try to "Clean Up" the desktop the icons get stacked on top of one another in the lower right of the desktop. I rearrange them and do another "Clean Up" and they go back on top of each other ina different order.
I have selected "Arrange by Name", but that doesn't seem to change the symptoms.
Any ideas??
Thanks,
Jeff

I had the same problem myself – all I can offer you is to remove the com.apple.finder.plist from your users/you/library/preferences folder and see how you go. It worked for me, but then came back (but having re-done the same again though all seems to be back to normal). If all else fails its useful to know that you can remove (no need to trash - just stick it on you desktop) the whole preference folder (users/you/library/preferences ONLY don't go poking around in the system folder – or any item therein [like com.apple.finder.plist]) to see if the problem goes away. If it does you can always try to isolate . . . good luck

    Where is the "Settings icon in the lower right corner of the Home Sharing window."? Anybody else doesn't find it? Is it because of I have the most updated version of iTunes? Have things changed?

    What I had to do is send to my iPhone from my Mac, respond to the resulting alert, choose the action button while the destination was highlighted, and then save the address to favorites.

  • Under firefox 4 i no longer see the padlock icon in the lower right of the screen when i log onto a secure site

    The padlock icon is no longer visible for any site that requires a login

    One of the main principles of Human Computer Interaction [HCI] is that there should be immediate visibility to the system's status. Forcing the user to "click" the identity site key and try to locate the lock-pad encryption icon is poor design. The icon has become a default standard expectation of the INTERNET user community across browsers. Internet Explorer, of which, I'm not a fan - has done away with a bottom bar, yet retained the padlock in the top right of the menu bar [it is conditionally displayed only when the site is secure]. Firefox has made a fundamental UI mistake, and amazingly trumped by the generally inferior Microsoft team. Don't follow the FF team and parrot the propaganda - 'yea we screwed up but you can determine the same thing by taking several extra steps- because we are FF team and you are just the peon users". Death of the open source community?

  • What are the scrolling arrows above the camera icon in the lower right side of the screen?

    When locked, there is a series of scrolling arrows above the camera icon.  What is this?

    Well.  That makes sense.

  • Echofon extention, since updating FF the icon in the lower right corner of my window is gone. I enjoy the convience of not having to keep another tab open for twitter. Any way to either get this convience back or barring that, reverting to the old FF?

    I have updated everything including FF and add-on/extension updates. Windows 7 OS

    Ahhh change is hard *sigh* I fix'd my problem by clicking Firefox>Options>Add-On Bar.

  • Question about icon on lower right corner of picture

    I'm new to Aperture, so I might be missing something simple here. There's an icon on the lower right corner of each of the pictures I've imported:
    http://thatchland.com/Picture1.jpg
    I'm using 1.5.6. This hadn't happened at all before I imported older pics from my hard drive, from an older point and shoot. I tried to tag those accordingly upon import, so I'm thinking I may have set something, and not undone it yet.
    Started a new project, imported the latest round from my 40D, and they still have this icon on the corner. It almost looks like the standard "I'm an alias" icon to me.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Erik

  • Hide levels icon in lower right?

    Hello,
    Does anyone know how to hide the icon in the lower right corner of master images that appears to indicate that levels have been edited? I'm trying to retouch the image in that spot, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to make the icon disappear. Every time I move the retouch tool to that location, the icon remains and I cannot see what I'm working on. I've taken a screenshot that can be viewed here:

    Thanks.

    Go to Preferences, Metadata, and uncheck the box next to Viewer. That should turn off overlays so that you can edit the image without the badge in the way.

  • How to make JFrame positioned to lower right corner of user's desktop

    I'm a new java user, and I'm working on building a small
    application. When the application is launched, I would
    like the application (JFrame) window to be positioned
    in the lower right corner of the user's desktop. Does
    anyone know how to get the user's desktop size so
    I can position the application.
    Here is a code snippet where I lauch the app.
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    ArchiveRestore mainFrame = new ArchiveRestore();
    mainFrame.setSize(500, 500);
    mainFrame.setTitle("Master Model Automation");
    mainFrame.setVisible(true);

  • What is the little Firefox instance peeking in on the lower right-hand corner of the desktop?

    When I try to minimize the Firefox Window it goes into a cycle of minimizing and reopening. This will not stop until I close that little instance mostly off-screen in the lower right-hand corner.
    The toolbar at the bottom of the desktop shows two instances of Firefox. When the main instance is in this cycling mode (about one cycle per second) I can use the toolbar to select the off-screen instance and close it. Then the cycling stops.

    No need to post twice - see my answer at your first (or second?) question...

  • Camera already on from lockscreen on iPhone 5c. How do I turn it off? The camera icon is running in the lower right corner and when I swipe up from the bottom of the lockscreen it brings up the camera running.

    My camera is already running from the lockscreen, the camera icon is displayed in the lower right corner and when I swipe up the control center it brings up the camera first. If I swipe up again I get the control center.  How do I stop the camera from staying on and coming up first?

    I thought the feature was for it to be available for me to use, not to swipe up and have the camera already going. The control panel is not coming up first, it is the camera. In order to get to the control panel I have to swipe up again and the camera is still going. Annoyingly, I have had to disable the camera from the control panel so it isn't coming up first, and now it is unavailable to use quickly.

  • Im missing the multi-speaker icon tab in my lower right corner.

    Using Windows 7 home prem.  Firewall off and no home sharing compatibility with iphone and apple airport express. I once had the ability to switch or share computer speakers and airport express with icon "multi speakers" in lower right hand corner of itunes but not there anymore. Any tips?

    Try the solution from this thread for the pencil icon:
    * [[/questions/883573]]
    * Delete the Firefox icon from the dock.
    * Create a new icon by dragging the Firefox application to the dock.
