Desktop Image Arbitrarily Changes Upon Reboot From Aurora to Water
I leave my MacMini on 24/7 and tend to restart only after installing updates or new apps. This past week I must have restarted about 3 times and each time the desktop background image has changed to 'Water' even though it was previously set to 'Aurora'. I change it back and then it's fine, until the next restart.
I'm at a loss as to what may be causing this. However, I tend to use Back to my Mac a lot (to control my mini desktop through screen sharing on my MBP) and it seems a strange coincidence that my Mini's desktop defaults to the Water background, which just so happens to be the desktop image on my MBP. Weird huh?
Has anyone else experienced this?
Alas, this didn't work. I made a copy of the com.apple.desktop.plist and saved a copy onto my desktop. I logged off then back on and Aurora was still there. Great. However, when I restarted my mini it changed to water upon.
Anyother ideas - thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Try deleting the Desktop settings file. First, open Finder, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and tyep ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart. Finally, see if your desktop changes -
Image Deployment Changes Windows Update from Windows and MS Update to Just Windows Only
Before capturing an image I make sure that Windows update is set to update "Windows and other products from Microsoft Update". After and capturing and deploying the image I notice on the client machine it has been set to Windows only. There
is nothing in the TS that I know of that would switch this....I am not running any updates or anything in the TS. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks in advanceSysprep changes this setting before the image is captured. This is normal behaviour.

Image Locations Change After Saving from Template
I am using DW CS5. I have made a Template using a dozen or so images. There are four in a side nav bar. When I create a new page (Page from Template), all my images and text show up fine with code like: <img src="images/wedding.jpg"/>. However the two of the four images in the nav bar show the code linking it to its place on my local drive. The other two work fine. I tried publishing the page and the code didn't change. No matter what I try the code will not update for those images.
Any help appreciated. That worked for that page!
I am ready to make multiple pages from the template. Should I use a different method than "New Page from Template" since that doesn't seem to work properly? I don't want to have to manually apply the template to every page if I don't have to.
Thanks. -
Boot Display Device suddenly changing upon reboot
This issue was first reported to Lenovo support back in February, when the latest BIOS was 2.10, and I first noticed it even earlier, with the previous BIOS version (I just don't remember whether it was 2.07 or 2.09), and back then my T61 was running Windows XP Professional SP2, and Intel GMA Driver version was 6.14.10.4860. It is stilll there with BIOS v2.21, and Windows XP Professional SP3, and Intel GMA Driver v. 6.14.10.4926, so it seems to be a more general problem, and I would like to know whether anybody else has run into problems of this kind,
The problem description follows. I use my T61 both undocked and docked (in my Advanced Mini Dock, P\N 42W4631) at different times. I also have an HP LP1965 LCD monitor connected to my Advanced Mini Dock via a DVI-I cable. It is usually set into the portrait position; in addition, I have my desktop PC connected to the other input of that HP LP1965, and the monitor is often in use with that desktop PC when I switch my T61 on. For those reasons, I want to have Boot Display Device always set to "ThinkPad LCD" in the BIOS, in order to always be able to see POST and Windows boot progress on my T61 screen. However, whenever I set Windows to use the second display (i.e., LP1965 connected via DVI), and then reboot my T61, the Boot Display Device in BIOS settings is automatically reset to "DVI+LCD". It happens irrespectively of the way I set it to use the second display: I can switch it through either Windows display settings or Intel GMA driver tray control panel, and it can be in either extended desktop or Intel Dual Display Clone mode; in either case, as soon as I reboot my T61 (or switch it off and then on), the BIOS setting is "DVI+LCD". On the other hand, if I set Windows to use the second monitor, then reboot, set Boot Display Device to "DVI+LCD", then set Windows to use the ThinkPad display only, and reboot again, the Boot Display Device in the BIOS settings is automatically reset to "ThinkPad LCD", which may also be inconvenient for some users. I.e., to make it short, when T61 is docked, 'single monitor' configuration under Windows always forces 'ThinkPad LCD" as Boot Display Device in BIOS settings after reboot, and any 'dual monitor' configuration under Windows always forces "DVI+LCD" as Boot Display Device after reboot.

T61 8898-6DG (UZ26DRT), Advanced Mini Dock; Windows XP Professional SP3 RussianAfter many updates, including the latest BIOS (2.26), the problem is still there. I must say it is quite an annoyance for me.
When purchsing my T61, one of the key reasons I chose it over other brands was the idea of reliability, good support, etc. rather than performance as such. It is a pity Lenovo cannot fix nor even comment on that problem. (It was reported to Lenovo's official support long ago.)

Image size changing upon saving.
I'm working on digital negatives for school and right before saving the image, it is 8.07M. But after saving the image and looking at the image info, it says 4.9M. Why is it saving my image to a smaller image?
The image size does not change, you're talking about the file size.
And the file size depends on the file type, the contents, the compression options used, etc. -
Image assets "changing" upon Save
Whenever I save my site, Muse tells me that assets have changed and need to be updated or relinked. If I do this and save again, I get the same message. When I hover over the warning sign in the Assets panel and look at the popup box, all the reported image sizes (original, resampled, and page item) are identical. This is getting annoying. Why is Muse doing this, and how do I make it stop?

Mac's clock being changed after rebooting from XP in FAT32
Hi everyone, I understand that some people have issues with boot camp not being able to find Windows during startup while holding the 'Option' button - I'm stucked with that too unfortunately. But here's another thing, has anyone notice that the clock under Mac would constantly change after it is loaded back in Leopard, after using XP? I seem to have this problem. After finishing using Windows and booting back into Mac using the BT's control panel, my Mac's clock is like a few hours behind and I constantly have to click on it to change it back. Funny no? Anybody having this issue - using the FAT32 or NTSF format?
Lol.
I'm sorry but that genius is waaaay off. it has nothing to do with windows, it has to do with the way EACH OS stores the time in the hardware EFI/BIOS
Its a known issue with using two different platforms
OSX reads time for the time zone its selected windows doesnt think it needs to change all the time, so it creates its based off the previous changes in BIOS/EFI
The time should auto-adjust in Windows/OSX or just click Update Time in either
icrosoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems handle your computer's date and time information differently, so the date and time may be different when you switch operating systems. For best results, use a network time server and resync the date and time whenever you switch operating systems. In Mac OS X, use the “Set date & time automatically” option in the Date & Time preferences. In Microsoft Windows, click the Update Now button in the “Date and Time Properties” control panel.

I am unable to change my desktop image
In System Prefs, selected Desktop & Screensaver. Selected image from pane at right. Used to be the desktop image would change as soon as I clicked on it. Now, nothing happens. Same results when I select an Apple image vs my own jpeg. Checked Help, and I am following the instructions. Thanks for any help offered!
Your System Preferences preference file has become corrupted and unable to save your changes.
Use the Finder Go To Folder and type
/Library/Preferences
and click GO.
A window will pop up and scroll down until you find the file
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
drag it to the trash (note there may be two of them, one is locked original, delete the other one you can move)
Now reboot the computer and launch System Preferences, you will now be able to save your changes.

Missing desktop images on imac
If someone can please shed any light on this problem?
After first switch on of the new year.... my desktop image had changed and when I went into the desktop image folder it was empty.... all of my iPhoto images
are still ok... just the desktop images that appear to be missing???
Not the end of the world but curious to know why this has pahhened and if anything else will have changed that I don't know about???
Any help greatly appreciated.
DTo see your user folder in the Finder sidebar open a Finder window. From the menu choose Finder > Preferences to open the Finder Preferences window. Under Favorites check your name (the user name you choose for yourself). Your username will show up in the Finder sidebar. You can also check Pictures to see to hopefully show the link to your iPhoto Library.
By default your iPhoto Library will be in your Pictures Folder unless you moved it.
This short video on YouTube explains it well: Display Missing Finder Sidebar / Icons - Mac OS X Mavericks - YouTube
If you still need help I would do to the Apple Support Communities at Welcome | Apple Support Communities since the Finder and iPhoto are both both Apple products. -
Where do Apple's desktop image files live?
Hi,
I use my own collection of pictures to rotate my desktop image, but there are some from Apple that I like and would like to get in the mix. Does anyone know where these files live so that I can copy the ones I want into my desktop pics folder??
Thanks,
SSG'day Scuba Steve,
Go to your "Macintosh HD"
Then go into "Library"
Then go into "Desktop Pictures"
Hope that helps!

I have a 13" macbook from 2009 and for some reason can no longer change my desktop image by just clicking on an image in system prererences>I-Photo. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Your Desktop Picture settings and Dock items are stored in the files
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
in the "Preferences" folder in your user library. This looks like the system has trouble to write to these files. Check the permissions on your user library and remove the above files from your user library, then log off and on again.
Your user library is hidden in Lion and Mt. Lion. To reveal it, use the Finder's "Go" menu. Select "Go" in the Finder's main menu bar and hold down the alt/option key, until you see the "Library" in the drop-down menu. Double click it to open a Finder window, so you can browse the files inside.

OSX Mountain Lion - Cannot change desktop image
I used an image I'd downloaded as desktop wallpaper. I have tried to change it to the default image, other images, sold colours, but the same image always returns after I reboot (warm and cold boots). Note that I can change the desktop image, but it always reverts back to the old image. The changes do not stick. I cannot locate the image in Finder. Any ideas?
I have the same situation as Marc; however, I do not have access to images. The multicolor circle keeps turning.
This application (Desktop & Screen Saver) is not working anymore.
Thank you.

My desktop photo disappears when I reboot iMac...replaced with default apple image. does anyone know a fix?
First, try to delete the Desktop settings file. First, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart your computer. Finally, change the wallpaper and see if it stays after restarting your computer
If that does not work try
open the Applications Support folder and then look for the Dock folder and open that. There are two files, one of which is "desktoppicture.db". Move this file to the trash and securely delete it. Restart the computer. A new "desltoppicture.db" will be created on startup.
Finally, reset your desktop picture again using System Preferences.
