Desktop is blank

After force quiting an application, I lost my usual desktop. The desktop background was there, and my dock was still there, but all of the files on my desktop are not there anymore. Can anyone help?

Hi again, first lets try a PRAM reset, if that does not solve the issue then please post back after checking a few things listed below.
Make sure you are logged under your name, from the Dock go to System Preferences and select Accounts. Select your users icon in the left hand column, now select Security an make sure “Allow user to administer this computer” is checked. Quit System Preferences.
Now go to the Finder and under Finder, scroll down to Preferences and make sure the first three boxes are checked under Show these idem on the Desktop.
Now from the main menu under Go scroll down to your Users (Home) folder, then Control click on you Desktop icon and scroll down to Get Info. This should open a Desktop Info window. In the lower part of that Desktop Info window make sure under Details you are listed as the Owner, if not unlock the box and scroll to you name. Relock the box and close the Desktop Info window.

  • My CC apps don't work. Uninstall apps missing. CC Desktop is blank.

All my CC apps were working fine until after the latest PS CC upgrade. PS wouldn't open and I got an error.
I followed instructions found in a forum (but can't remember what I did), and that must have really messed things up because then nothing would work. I got that dialog on everything.
I followed more instructions (found in a search) and downloaded Adobe Creative Cloud Cleane. I think I followed the wrong instructions and cleaned things that should not have been cleaned. Now my CC Desktop is blank and all my Uninstall apps are missing. Clicking on the stortcuts brings up a dialog: "The alias “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CC” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found."
Is there a way to start all over again? I'm in a real bind because I have two projects!
    I'm an idiot.
    PLEASE HELLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi KathyStrom,
    Please refer the article: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

  • After installatiom CC-desktop is blank! Cannot download any program.

    Windows7 32 bit computer. CC-desktop is blank.
    Deleted CC in control panel-programs.
    Did run the cleaner tool.
New installation, but again no apps on the desktop.
    What is my problem?

Printex_Texel are you seeing the same behavior as pictured in App doesn’t open | Progress wheel spins continually?  If so then please complete the steps within the document.

  • Creative cloud desktop is blank

Hi, please creative cloud desktop is blank when I try to download an app.

Funny I had the same problem just today. I solved it, but not quite sure how-
    FYI, WIN 7 4 bit,
First I downloaded the newest cc desktop,  didn't do anything;)
Then I uninstalled the cc desktop, reinstalled, nothing
I read around and found something about using the Creative Cloud cleaner to remove prior installs. I won't post the link cause in my case it SCREWED things up royally.  It does not uninstall your programs, but removes any record that they were installed, so in essence they might as well be installed.
Then I renamed that OOBE file at first, didn't do much.
I uninstalled and reinstalled about 3 more times.  By this time i had really broken things, none of my 2014 apps worked.  So i did a system restore to earlier in the day before I broke things.  This restarted the computer.
That didn't do much- apps still didn't work.  So i uninstalled cc desktop one more time.  Reinstalled, and it worked.  Just to think I did this all just because my font's wouldn't sync

  • Creative cloud desktop app blank - Mac

    Hi,
I have been experiencing the issue with a "blank" screen when logged into the Creative Cloud Desktop. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the desktop app multiple times and still no screen or visible apps. Also, I followed the instructions in locating the OOBE folder... I was unable to locate the file suggested to change even after making all hidden files visible. In my recent attempt to locate this file the entire OOBE folder has been deleted (I am unable to locate this folder anywhere on my computer or trash) and I am still experiencing the "blank" screen when logged in. How would I go about fixing this all across the board? Would I need to reinstall all of adobe and its apps? Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Kandee_Leigh,
    Please try below steps:
1> Uninstall Creative Cloud Desktop app. (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html#Uninstall apps)
2> Navigate to the OOBE folder:
    Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
Note: The <user account>/Library/ folder is hidden after OS 10.7, follow the instructions here to access it: Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
    Mac OS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
    rename OOBE to OOBE.old
Then install Creative Cloud from below given link:
Free Creative Cloud | Download Adobe Creative Cloud free trial
Please, let us know how it goes.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Help!  Desktop completely blank and finder not opening

    Hello
I was using iTunes last night and went away to make a cup of coffee. When I went back to it, the screen was flickering all over the place and only stopped when I closed the lid down and re-opened it. The screen returned to normal, but when I closed down iTunes and then tried to do the same with Finder, the 'spinning wheel of death' cropped up. So I went into Forced Quit to try to shut them down altogether.
The shut down didn't work and since then the desktop has been completely blank. Also, although Finder is indicated as being open on the dock, the taskbar at the top is competely blank when I close all other applications down. I can open other applications (hence being able to get online here!) but when I try to close the computer down, nothing happens.
    So to summarise...
Finder is not responding and will not let me close it down
The Computer will not close down at all
I can't get into a Finder window in order to delete things to free up memory.
HELP!!! To add to misery, it's a work laptop!!!
    Thanks!
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    thanks for that.
Unfortunately i have next to no memory left to be able to download this. Have been trying to delete some files and music to make some room, but cannot do this without Finder (vicious circle!!)
    any more options?!!

  • After data migration CC Desktop is blank

I've just bought a new iMac and migrated my data from my old macbook.  When I run Creative Cloud Desktop it shows a blank box.  The gear icon only gives me the options Help, Open as Window or Quit.  I've contacted support three times and they've had me run a cleanup tool, delete various files and directories in both /library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/library/Application Support/Adobe.  Each time I was disconnected before the issue was resolved, twice while using Online Chat and once by phone.  I'm starting to get a complex.  Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

  • My Desktop went blank and an error message appeared saying C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location...

This the whole error message: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that
is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information
might h ave been moved to a different location
I restarted the pc and  through the safe mode i copied the Desktop file that was missing at C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\
from C:\Users\User. I restarted but i still get the blank desktop.
Can you guys help me out?

Thnx a lot LomM! My younger brother run the check disk and now it's working. But now im facing a different problem. With the sound drivers. I have not sound at all. And at Device manager I see  yellow marked devices, giving me the code error 52 ("Windows
cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)").
So, I unistalled and re-installed but nothing. Still yellow marked. I did the Recovery thing (a couple of times using different dates ) but it did not complete successfully.
So I disable driver verification, while i was restarting my computer and now im getting the code 39("Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware.
The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)").
it's that C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ktshunk.sys which is not getting verified. Any ideas?

  • CC Desktop Screen Blank

When I try to open, or even install for the 4th time the creative cloud desktop, the screen is ALWAYS blank. It acts as though I'm signed in, but I can't see a thing. Help please!

I just got done talking to online support.  Here is what they told me to do (and it worked):
Prasanna: 1. Click on Start(Windows)+R in your Windows 8 computer to open the Run Dialog box
Prasanna: 2. Type %localappdata% in the Run Dialog box and hit enter.
Prasanna: 3.  Open the folder named Adobe.
    Patrick: yes
Prasanna: 4. Open the folder named OOBE
    Patrick: ok
Prasanna: And rename the file opm as opm.dbold
    Patrick: done
    Patrick: next?
Prasanna: Please reopen the Creative Cloud Desktop and check if your issue has resolved.
I am on Windows 8.1.  This solved the problem.  Good luck!!!

  • [Solved] On open lid screen flashes desktop then blanks

Hello fellow archers, I've been dealing with the following nagging issue:
On open lid my desktop flashes for a few brief seconds then the screen goes blank. I have to type or use the touchpad to get my desktop again.
I believe something in Gnome settings is the origin of this problem because:
    - I have 2 users running Gnome and on the second user I do not have this issue.
    - On the user with this issues by stopping gnome-settings-daemon momentarily the issues is resolved.
gnome-settings-daemon depends on gsettings-desktop-schemas which leads me to believe maybe some setting got mucked up somehow.
I recently updated Gnome so there may be some connection to that.
    Anywho, any help is appreciate
    Cheers

I think I've solved the issue for now, by putting
the pm-suspend command in the lid event in the /etc/acpi/handler.sh
and added the laptop monitor off "script" in /etc/acpi/actions/lm_lid.sh as described in
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ac … _Power_Off
    Seems to work.

  • Mac desktop screen blanks out

I am having problem with my Mac desktop machine. It's blanking out intermittantly. I watch tv on my mac. I hear the music in the background but no picture.
    any suggestions...

I doubt it's "screwing up" your video card.
Does the blanking occur only when charging the iphone?
A thought on your setup (nothing to do with your problem)...
If you are splitting the output from your comcast settop box, since that EyeTV250 only has S-Video and composite inputs, I presume you are using S-Video or composite out of the comcast box.  Both these are analog, not digital.  So your TV picture quality, when switched to the comcast box, will suffer compared to using the settop box's HDMI or component outputs.
If your comcast box is anything like my AT&T Uverse box then why not directly connect the HDMI or component outputs to your TV and connect the S-Video or composite to your EyeTV?  In my case all outputs are available in parallel.  So the settop box feeds all signals to all its outputs.  You wouldn't need the switch that way and you would get better quality video when directly viewing comcast with your TV.

  • IPhoto 9.2.1 Update causes screen flash between desktop and blank

A customer brought his MacBook Pro to us after updating his iPhoto to 9.2.1.
When he boots up, it loads and flashes between his desktop and a blank bluish/black screen in 1sec intervels.
If you pull up iPhoto it will stop and everything runs "normal"
I have run a Software Update on iPhoto and the System as a starting point.
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    iPhoto 9.2.1
    Any suggestions?

At this time, I'm leaving iPhoto on.
The Finder works just fine. Don't see any problems.
    I restarted.
At first it did not blink. Saw the desktop.
Then it began to alternative between a color and the desktop.

  • CreativeCloud desktop is blank

I just set up a new iMac (OSX 10.9.4) and transferred settings from my Macbook Pro.
The CC window is completely blank, and the only options i got is "help", "Open as Window" and "Quit".
I´ve tried the solution here: Cloud Desktop App is blank?, but I can´t find the path or the opm.db file.
I´ve tried to reinstall and ran the CC cleanuptool several times.
If i try to uninstall CC, it uninstalls with an error, no further information
    No option to login.
It seems to reinstall fine, but after it starts, it´s still blank...

    Solved:
Deleted Adobe Application Manager folder and uninstalled CC app with error. Then reinstalled CC app and it worked normal.
