Desktop - Link to folder

Hey all I have been trying to create a link you can say either as an hyperlink or a kind of automation that is like I have a template which I paste it on my gmail message and send it out to my team so when they receive I want them to just click the path
mentioned in the template, the moment they click it I want the exact folder to be popped out for them instead of going through all the locations and then to the destination……so is there a way for me to give away the path, a link so that any shared user can
click open the exact folder??
Example:  C:\Users\ketan\Pictures\a\de\”destination”  - I want an hyperlink to this URL so that when any shared user clicks it, it has to taken them to the “Destination” directly……..!!

  • Desktop links, folders etc appearing in DW CS4 Local Files - please help

    Hi
I have a lot of web 'sites' in folders on my desktop which I use to test things out like forms, lightboxes etc. None of them are live. I wanted to tidy up the desktop so created a new folder with the idea of moving all the dummy sites folders into it.
I moved one folder but when I moved the second, I got the message:
"The root folder you have chosen is the same as the folder for site 'ContactTest'. This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly. Proceed anyway?".
As the folder I was transferring wasn't terribly important, I thought I would see what happened so ok'd it. I had a message about cache which I ok'd.  I don't remember the message.  When I tried the site, it wouldn't work so I decided to move it back out to the desktop.
When I did this I was asked again about the cache which I ok'd.  The result is that all my desktop links, web 'site' folders etc are now showing in the dummy website folder as files and sub folders?!  If I delete the links, they are deleted from the desktop.
I have no idea how to put everything back to the way it was.  Can anyone help me please?

I've just replicated my steps, and the cache message I received was:
"The cache will now be recreated because the name, root folder, HTTP address of cloaking settings of the site have been changed."
Can anyone help me with this please?

  • How do I move a file directly from the desktop to a folder in OX 10?

I am new to Mac and the Mountain Lion software.  Having worked exclusively with PC operating systems, I am familiar with how to work with files in Windows, but am having trouble doing similar actions in OX 10.  How do I move a file directly from the desktop to a folder in OX?  Although this answer is likely in a video tutorioal (somewhere), I do not have the time to sit an arbitrarily watch generic OS videos that give a broad brush overview, without answering specific queries.  Any help out there?

You might fun http://www.apple.com/support/macbasics/ to be of help to get used to doing things the Mac way.

I've installed three times with no luck. I downloaded the Creative Cloud Packager off the licensing site: https://licensing.adobe.com. I unpacked and choose my applications. The install seemed to be successful, but I don't so any of the applications anywhere.

    Hi,
Creating package doesn't mean it will install the product,
You will need to install the package now. Please follow the instructions mentioned in the below articles

Please let me know if it doesn't help.

Don't know if that would be a failing hard drive, but it may be that you are out of available space. How much hard drive space do you have available? Please highlight the Macintosh HD icon and then press Command and I for a get info window. Once open, please copy and post the following:

Mac OS requires a minimum of 10 - 15% of total hard drive space available and empty at all times in order to operate properly.

    Question
How do I put a Shortcut Icon on my Desktop linking to a certain Webpage, like I could do with I.E./Google? Where do I find "Create Shortcut' ???

    Hey, Dynamite !
Thanks so much for that ... what a 'dynamite' solution. It's so easy. I don't know how you people know all of these things ! But one last thing if you can help me - I've just switched over to Mozilla/Firefox from I.E., and now I cannot open my Hotmail from Mozilla/Firefox. I log in, it goes to my 'Inbox' page, but when I click on an Email letter to open it, nothing happens. I can't even go into 'Drafts' or 'Delete' or anything.

I lost my data in my laptop. I have a back-up into an external hd. Now I would like to import the catalog and change the link of folder to external disk

You can open the backup of your catalog file by copying it to wherever you want it to be and then double-click on it.
You would have to re-link all the photos inside of Lightroom using these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

  • How to link c-Folder with DMS?

    Hello,
I'm a new in this tool and i would like to know somethings.
    1) What the Object Type i use to link c-Folder with DMS?
    2) Can I do this if I install C-Folder in a separate server other than SAP R/3?
    Regards
    Pedro Sasso

    Hi,
DO you mean via the 'Object Linking' feature in DMS?
If yes, please ensure that the 'c-projects Elements' object has been selected for the particular document type in DC10.
Also, to view the attached DIR in c-projects, ensure that the RFC is established b/w c-projects and DMS.
Yes..you can, since c-Folders has functionality of maintaining public and private collaboration scenarios so c-Folders is being used to communicate between Suppliers and Vendors.
c-Folders is not like webDMS, it is a separate application for which the link can be created from portal itself.
In c-Folders user ID and password can be created which need not have any licenses.
    Hope it helps you.
    Thanks

  • Creating links to folder resources in XDB repository

    Hi,
I have a problem with creating links to folder resources in Oracle XDB repository, especially when I delete child resources from the linked folder or the linked folder itself.
For instance, if I have the following two resources:
    /public/folder1/mydocument.xml
    /public/folder2
and then create a link to folder1 within folder2 like this:
    begin
    dbms_xdb.link('/public/folder1', '/public/folder2', 'mylinkedfolder');
    end;
and then delete the resource from the linked folder, like this:
    delete from path_view where equals_path('/public/folder2/mylinkedfolder/mydocument.xml') = 1;
the resource 'mydocument.xml' is completely removed from the database, from both locations. The manual states that: "Deletion of a link deletes the resource pointed to by the link if and only if that was the
last link to the resource and the resource is not versioned." Before executing the delete statement the following query gives two results (links):
select path from path_view where resid = <<resid of mydocument.xml>>
    The statements:
    begin
    dbms_xdb.deleteresource('/public/folder2/mylinkedfolder/mydocument.xml', dbms_xdb.DELETE_RECURSIVE_FORCE);
    end;
    and:
    delete from path_view where path = '/public/folder2/mylinkedfolder/mydocument1.xml'
result in the same behavior. Also, when I remove the folder '/public/folder2/mylinkedfolder', the document mydocument.xml is also removed from both locations.
Is this behavior expected behavior? Is there another way to get the behavior that is described in the manual?
    Thanks,
    Maarten

Removing the second link to the folder should not delete the contents unless you specify delete recursive when doing so.. See below

  • Desktop link keeps disappearing from Favorites pane

On my 10.9.4 MacBook Air, all of a sudden I have the following weird problem. The "Desktop" link is missing from the left panel of Favorites on any Finder window. I drag it there, and next window I open - it's gone again! What is going on?!?

I've heard of icons disappearing in OS 6.  While I don't have a solution, I do have a work-around if nothing else is suggested by others.
I've moved my favorite icons to the top of the All tab on my homescreen.  This way, I still have my favorites within easy reach and if I need to access something else other than those, it's right below them on the same screen.
Not terribly technical, I know, but it works for me.
(By the way, to move an icon on your homescreen, highlight it with the trackpad, press the menu key to the left of the trackpad and select Move.  Then move it to your desired position on the homescreen and click the trackpad.)
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • JWS 6.0 update 22 uses stale cached JNLP from desktop link

With the latest Java 6.0 update 22 it appears that JWS is using the stale cached JNLP when launching from the desktop link after a JNLP update at the server.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with update 22?
For demonstration, I used the sample notepad application that I deployed for demonstration of a similar desktop link bug in update 17 (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6921609) and I've traced the http requests from JWS. It appears that JWS simply doesn't request the JNLP to check for updates when launched from the desktop link.
I'll follow up with the bug id and a request for votes if accepted by the dev team.
    Thanks,
    Troy
Here are the steps to reproduce the issue using the sample app if anyone is interested.....
    1) Download the sample JWS application and allow the desktop link to be created - http://test.planwithvoyant.co.uk/voyant/launch/notepadAllPerm
    2) Inspect the desktop shortcut and notice the path to the JNLP cache entry
    3) Open the cached JNLP and take note of the timestamp included as an application argument as shown below:
         <argument>lastModified=Thu Oct 21 18:44:27 UTC 2010</argument>
    3) Modify the JNLP at the server. The following url updates the Last-Modified header for the sample Notepad app JNLP - http://test.planwithvoyant.co.uk/voyant/launch/setLastModified (disregard the forwarded request to a login screen)
    4) Run the application via the desktop link again now that the JNLP has been modified.
    5) Inspect the desktop shortcut again - notice that the path to the JNLP cache entry will remain unchanged.
    6) Inspect the cached JNLP again and notice that the timestamp in the application arguments is also unchanged.

I am experiencing the same issue with a recent deployment (Windows XP/Java 1.6.0_22-b04).
I notice the following sequence in the trace log:
    server running at port: 1340
    temp: connect to: https://www.sample.net/desktop-jnlp/launch.jnlp 1340
    network: Connecting socket://127.0.0.1:1340 with proxy=DIRECT
temp: no server is running - continue launch!
    network: prepareToLaunch: offlineOnly=false
network: Cache entry found [url: https://www.sample.net/desktop-jnlp/launch.jnlp, version: null] prevalidated=true/0
So, whatever internal "server" javaws uses doesn't appear to be available to handle the request for the JNLP file and it proceeds with the old version.
The behavior is confirmed after disabling all antivirus and firewall software.

  • Is there any way to see full icon label on desktop or in folder?

Is there any way to see full icon label on desktop or in folder...like in windows...for example for "Macintosh HD" I see "Mac...HD", but I want to see "Macinto..."? Is there any way to change this? I have in many folder files with similar names, and I need to click twice on each file to see its full name and it can be really annoying...

In Finder, just drag the divider bar further to the right while holding down the option key to see the full label (using the 'option' key will make the width preference stick).
On the desktop icon, hold down 'contro'l and click on the icon. Choose 'Show view options' then make the grid spacing larger.
