Desktop Manager 4.5 / 4.6 - Intellisync Error 0X3B21

I continue to get this error when trying to sync my 8330 with Desktop Manager 4.5 or 4.6.
Setup:
Phone: Verizon 8330 OS v.4.3
Computer OS: XP Pro w/ SP3
Syncing with: Outlook 2007 via USB
I have tried:
Resetting the sync configuration
Battery pull and system reboot
Uninstall / reinstall of DM 4.5 and 4.6
Making sure I have admin rights to the machine and/or Registry keys noted in other docs.
Deleting the Intellisync folder
I'm pretty much at a loss here and don't know what can be causing the issue.
2 things that have been noted:
1) When exiting either DM or Redirector, I get a system error asking to report the problem to Microsoft
2) In DM it does not seem to be getting my email address from my MS Outlook Profile because I need to enter the address maually and check the "Override" box before Redirector will forward emails other wise it says "No Desktop Address"
Please help if you can.....

  • Remote Desktop Management service not starting. service-specific error: %%2284126209 - Event ID: 7024

    Hi Forum members,
We have a client that has intermittent issues with RDS on a 2012 R2 server.
As an overview of the environment, the client has a single VMWare host support 2 x Windows 2012 R2 VMs one is the File/Print/Email server and the 2nd is the RDS server used to allow the client to run MYOB Enterprise. Both servers have the AD DS role and
    DNS roles amongst others.
The 1st issue is that the RD Connection Broker shows the error: "The server pool does not match the RD Connection Brokers that are in it. and then "1. Cannot connect to any of the specified RD Connection Broker servers".
The above issue seems to be caused by the RDMS service not starting. When you attempt to start it, the service stops and the error in the title is logged in the "System" event log. Full transcript below:

I have been attempting to resolve these errors for some time, without success. I have read the many KBs and forum entries related to the above and applied a number of the suggested fixes, including the one which suggests to add the NT SERVICE\ALL SERVICES
to the "Logon as a Service" in the "User Rights Assignment" of the "Default Domain Policy" which is linked to the domain level, that both servers are objects of.
My question to the forum is, can anyone come up with a solution to resolve the above issues and all the RDMS service to start which will then hopefully resolve the broker error?
    Regards,
    David West.

    Hi David,
If virtual machines on the server are Windows Server 2012, then it is not supported to install Remote Desktop Connection Broker on a Domain Controller.
    More information for you:
Remote Desktop Services role cannot co-exist with AD DS role on Windows Server 2012

Guidelines for installing the Remote Desktop Session Host role service on a computer running Windows Server 2012 without the Remote Desktop Connection Broker role service
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839
If the VMs are Windows Server 2012 R2, I suggest you install RDS on a separate machine to see if the issue persists.
    Best Regards,
    Amy

If you're running Windows try going to Start | Run and type in (w/o quotes) "%temp%".
That should open the temp directory where the software may be trying to install to. If the folder isn't empty delete it's contents and try again.

  • Desktop Manager not working with Windows 7 - Error message received Not Responding

    Hello
The issue of not connecting with desktop manager started in May 2012. When I plug phone into computer I can see files. USB works fine as I am also able to use all ports with other usb items. I downloaded the latest download manager again today January 14, 2013 and again the desktop manager says non responsive and program will not start. I have windows 7 and the desktop manager did work in April 2012 with this computer (windows 7). Help with a solution would be great.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

  • 8330 Error Message: Desktop manager has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have installed Desktop Manager and had success synching my new 8330 with Outlook 2007 (on XP). Next time, though, it crashed. I uninstalled/reinstalled, it seemed to work once, now always crashes. I do have recurring appointments with reminders and have heard this might be the problem; is there a workaround? I also disabled the option to synch up past appointments w/no luck. Thx.

Hi. I did get my problem resolved after an hour or so on the phone w/the Blackberry folks, but I'm not positive what the problem is/was. I once again uninstalled the desktop manager, but also deleted the Intellisync folder completely. Then I reinstalled it and it worked...and has continued to work just fine for the past four days. I don't really know what "fixed" it, but just thought I'd say the issue has been resolved. Thanks.

  • Runtime Error with Desktop Manager Sync

When configuring the syncing options for my Blackberry 8800 World Edition in Desktop Manager 5.0 on Vista Business, I encounter the error "A session of that type has not been started." This occurs when attempting to configure any of the sync applications with MS Outlook 2007. I really need to be able to sync my Blackberry with my computer, as my contact list changes from both directions. Thank you very much, I hope someone has an answer!

Hi and Welcome to the forums!
From you post, I cannot tell if you've done all of this or not, so I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard - Remote Desktop Management service won't start

Dear colleges, I'm seeking your help in resolving a weird issue with Remote Desktop.
The Remote Desktop Management service gives the following error message any  time it is attempted to start:
"The Remote Management Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
The Event Viewer error message is as follows:
"The Remote Desktop Management service failed to start. Error code: 0x88250001"
Whenever I connect to the server with RD I get error message that the Remote Desktop Licensing Server isn't configured and that the RD trill will expire in N-days. The server is up to date updates wise and has been licensed for 5 RD CALs. The server hosts DNS
server and has AD DS role installed, is virtualized to have one Hyper-V server.
I read some blogs about having both DNS and AD DS on one box is a bad sea and a root cause of the issue. Well, that very well may be, but for me that's an option as I'm not going to get a box to just host DNS. There should a solution to this as I shouldn't
only one suffering from this issue.
I also read about KB2871777 - Servicing stack update supposedly addressign this issue. Well, it's on my system and the issue is there too. :)
Will I loose ability to RD when the trial expires or it's just another misleading MS message that can be ignored?
How do I mend Remote Desktop Management service to start?
    Appreciate your help!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server forum.
Can administrators perfectly connect to RDS environment?
In meantime please check that you have properly configured and activated RD License role service and install RDS CAL on it. It might also possible that you have configured RD License server but it server can’t find it and giving you error due to certificate
also. Please check that you have properly configured certificate on your RDS Server. Try to install and update below hotfix for License related issue.
No RDS license when you connect to an RDS farm in Windows Server 2012
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2916846
If you have configured both RDS and AD DS on single server then also you may find some error reading this. If so please try to setup both roles on different server and check the result. In addition to this, please check below articles.

  • Desktop manager does not allow to install 5.0 Firmware

    Hi all,
i got following problem. I try to upgrade several 9000 and 8900 to FW-Versions 5.0.0.190 or higher.
The Desktop-Manager recognizes the installed Firmwares and shows them BUT marks them with an asterisk.
    Then it states
"only users with an activ subscription the the Blackberry-Service are allowed to install this BB Device Software."
Can anybody help me with that problem ?
By the way: it worked once or twice , but now, on any PC i install the Desktop Manager and the Firmware Files this error occurs.
    Greetings from Munich, germany,
    Markus

The device you are upgrading must have an active connection to a BlackBerry Data Plan.
You will see this message if you do not have a data plan on their BlackBerry and they try to use Desktop Manager 5.0 to upgrade to BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or greater.  Sometimes you will see this error if the user has never turned on the mobile network on their device so that might be all that is needed to work around this.
This is a new requirement of RIM for devices upgrading to OS 5

  • BB Desktop Manager crashes trying to sync BB 8900 T-Mobile

I work with the tech support for my company's IT department.  We are tasked with providing support for any technical issue our users encounter.  I am working with one user who is having issues with his BB Desktop Manager crashing out with a generic error whenever he tries to do a sync.  Here are some of his details...
He was using BB Desktop Manager 4.3 I think and had a previous model blackberry device.  Our organization uses Lotus Notes.  He was previously syncing the email with Lotus and the Contacts and Calendar with Outlook.  He upgraded phones to the BB 8900 (he is on T-Mobile) and upgraded his BB Desktop Manager to v4.6.  When he first ran the setup, he did not tell it to sync the Lotus organizer data.  He performed one sync, but nothing came over at all.  He then went in and checked the LOTUS ORGANIZER data, but every time he tries to Sync, the BB Desktop Manager sits there for about 45 seconds, then it just closes with a generic error referencing the BlackberryDesktopManager.exe.
When that happens, we can open the Desktop Manager, but the PIN connection shows NONE until he actually unplugs and re-plugs in the phone.
If we try to go into the SYNCHRONIZE section and then hit the button that would normally show the sync settings, we get the same exact type of crash (but it happens almost immediately instead of waiting 45 seconds).
Here is what we have tried to do to fix it.  We have completely removed and re-installed the BB Desktop Manager (but we have tried v4.5 and v4.7.)  Each time we are uninstalling the software, I made sure to REMOVE USER FILES and then I am also going into the PROGRAM FILES folder and deleting the RESEARCH IN MOTION folder so it shouldn't be keeping any of the files from that folder.  We also tried wiping the phone (three times) - twice by putting the PIN in wrong 10 times, and then once by calling T-Mobile and having them walk him through doing it on the phone itself.
We still have the same exact crash at the same exact places on all versions of this software for this model phone.  If he had another computer to try it on (that also has Lotus) I would have him try to setup the phone on another PC.  Since the phone has been wiped many times, I am thinking its something on the PC thats causing the crash, but I am not sure where to go or what to check next.
We have worked with this guy for a total of over 12 or 13 hours, and we have no idea what to try next.  This is baffling many of our technicians trying to figure this out for him.
Does anyone have any clue why it may be doing this, or have any ideas what I can check next?  Are there any logs I can collect or upload that may help identify whats going on?
Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Thanks!

The EXE you download for Desktop Manager is not the actual installation program.  It self extracts to your "Temp" directory and installs from there.  As a result, the MSI used for the installation is extracted to a subdirectory under your Temp directory, and is easily deleted making subsequent modifications (using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel) unworkable.
Follow the directions here to perform a complete uninstall of Desktop Manager.
Now, use an archive utility like WinZip to extract the EXE you download for Desktop Manager to a permanent location.  I use WinZip, and right click on the EXE and extract it to a subdirectory with the same name as the EXE.  Now run BlackBerrySetup.exe in the subdirectory you extracted the EXE into to install Desktop Manager.
The OS downloads don't have this problem as they are only able to be installed or uninstalled.
All that said, it is very likely NOT the fault of Desktop Manager, but a fairly common Windows error which I've seen often, and ultimately fixes itself, but have never seen a good solution for!
