Desktop manager and Home and Work email

Hi folks,
I have Desktop Manager installed on both my home and work computers. At home, email is grayed out and I can do nothing as it says I do not have a connection to the server.
At work, it is active, but only addresses my work email from the Exchange Server and not my personal email which is set up through Blackberry and works on my phone. But sometimes I like to change the signature, etc.
Is there no way to get both on one or both instances of Desktop Manager to avaiod having to go to att.blackberry.com for personal email configuration?
Thanks!
~Bob

But your personal email is NOT on BES... those are two totally different animals.
ON BIS the Desktop Manager has nothing to do with mail and messages.

Work with and store the documents on DropBox or something similar. It's free for DropBox. All you need after that is access to the internet and regardless of where you are and what you're using you have access to your documents.

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 and Roxio Media Manager hangup

Ok, I spent an hour researching posts on the forum, and not gettting anywhere.
    Here is the specifics:
    New Laptop with Windows XP-SP3
New Install of BB Desktop Manager 500_B28_Multilanguage
I use Sync to update my address book via Ascii one way.
    Did that once.  No Problem
Restarted my Laptop.  Now I get Windows Installer looking for Roxio Media Manager.msi and now I can't get rid of it.
I hit cancel, and it comes back.
Only thing in Add/Remove programs is Desktop Manager 5.0 and Blackberry Media Sync
Try to remove either one and I get that "Installation in progress" message.
If there is a problem with 5.0 why is a newer version correcting it not out?
Several posts refer to doing a "Clean Uninstall" (KB02206) of Blackberry Desktop Software, Several posts refer to (KB19218) Windows Installer Cleanup.
Before I get started, Is there a real solution?  If I do the Clean Uninstall and then again install 500_B28 am I going to hang everytime I start the computer while Installer looks for Roxio?
    Would someone please help me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Twas obivous that I was going to get NO HELP from RIM, so I called my IT Dept.
Here is what I did so far.
    Open Task Manager.
In Applications, right click on RMM install process.
Left click on Go to Process.
This step puts you on ISUSPM.exe
    Left Click on End Process.
    Click OK.
Go back to Task Manager, select Processes
    find misexec.exe
    Left Click on End Process.
    Click OK.
Go to Add / Remove programs
    Uninstall Blackberry Desktop Manager
Uninstall using REMOVE all User settings
after 15 minutes, it finally removed RMM also
I ran Windows Install Cleanup Utility (290301)
verified no Roxio programs or BB programs were on the computer
    and restarted.
    So Far, So Good.
Now I have to decide if I want to put BBDM on with or WITHOUT the MM.

  • Why are only my sleep and home buttons working but the screen doesnt recognise my touch

So last night everything on my ipod touch 2nd gen was working fine. then when i woke up, only the sleep and home button worked. My screen isnt picking up any sort of touch at all. when i press the on button, it wont let me slide to unlock. when i press the on and home button at the same time to turn it off, it will not let me slide to power off. HELP!!! It is passed the original 90 day warranty (very old no damage though) and i need an answer ASAP

have you tried charging the device ?
if so and it still does not work you can try a Forced Recovery..

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 and Bluetooth

I am unable to get the Desktop Manager Software to recognize the bluetooth connection to my BB.  I cannot execute task 6 step 11 from:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04132&sliceId=1&docTy...
because the Options menu is "locked" with the screen saying "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer."  All previous steps have been successfully accomplished.
I am running Windows Vista 64bit.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem but the little trick is not working for me. Even though the device manager recognizes my Blackberry Bold and is connected to it, when I fire up The Desktop Manager I get the same message... It is like if the DM does not communicate with the Blackberry Device Manager at all since it is not detecting that the BB is connected there.
    Any Help will be appreciated.

  • Desktop Manager 6 fix and broken

    Good day
    A while back I had the System.OutOfMemoryException
    Laptop Sony x127 Windows 7 32 bit
    BB Torch 9800
Tuesday I downloaded BB Desktop software. Uninstalled and reinstalled it from the fresh download
It worked. Thrilled I synced everything without any problems.
Yesterday I loaded Media Sync to sync my music.
It complained my iTunes are out of date and that I need a bigger Micor SD card.
I ordered a Micro SD card and downloaded a newer version of iTunes.
This morning when I opened BB Desktop Software it gave me the
    System.OutOfMemoryException problem again.
I did a system restore to before I installed Media Sync to no avail.
I then did a system restore to before I reinstalled BB Desktop Software.
I installed it again and still have the same problem.
I would post the log file but when I went to c:\%user%\appdata\Roamin\Research in Motion\Blackberry Desktop \   there is no Log folder anymore...?
Any help on this matter would be greatly apreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Synchronization Problems with BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5v and Windows Mail Client

BlackBerry (RIM) Desktop Manager 4.5v synchronization setup does not work properly. I cannot synchronize my desktop calendar because the only desktop application formats available are (<None>, Ascii Import/Export and Yahoo), Windows Mail is not an option!
I contacted BlackBerry and the only response I received was that I need the Outlook Express program to synchronize my desktop calendar.
Microsoft upgraded from the Outlook program to Windows mail to provide a better program, which I happen to like! The idea of purchasing the Outlook Express software when there is nothing wrong with my current mail program does not make any sense to me! And will BlackBerry support any Vista system issues if there are any compatibility problems with the old Microsoft mail client?
Has anyone contacted BlackBerry about this issue? Any ideas how to fix this problem?
Why can’t Blackberry (RIM) resolve the synchronization issue? In addition to this problem, you may find that the Desktop Manager Device Switch Wizard does not function with the Treo 650 and BlackBerry 8830 and the Advanced feature in Backup and Restore does not seem to save the any files that you want to restore.
    BlackBerry Please Help!
    Note:
Microsoft Office Standard 2007 is $399, really expensive! Not sure if you can purchase the mail client separately.
    - Microsoft website: [“Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail, an improved e‑mail program with enhancements such as junk e‑mail filtering and protection against phishing messages.”]

    Hello My8830
You can only synchronize contacts with Windows Mail - you can not synchronize calendar, memos, or tasks.  Outlook express does not have these items, and the version of Windows Mail that I am running also does not have them.  Windows Calendar is seperate from windows mail on my version of Vista.
So to clarify it all, downgrading to Outlook Express will still not get you calendar synchronization as it does not have a calendar.
    Cheers

  • Desktop Manager for Mac and Calendars

    Hi there,
I installed this software on 10.6.1 and updated my software version on my Curve 8330 as well.  No problems there.  I like to use GMail on my BB and see that I now have three calendars showing up.  One is my phone provider, then my Mac account and also, after installing the Enhanced GMail application on the BB, I now have a GMail calendar.  There are no entries in this calendar and I'd like to know if it's possible to sync this calendar with the Desktop Manager software as well as syncing my Mac calendar to my desktop.  I know that you cannot install the Google Sync software on the BB when you already have another sync package installed, so I'm wondering how and if it is possible to also sync the Google data to the BB.
Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Desktop manager v4.7 and Lotus Organizer

This may well be an FAQ, but I've upgraded my desktop manager from 4.2 to 4.7 and seem to have lost the ability to sync with Lotus Organiser.  Has it bee nremoved - can you tell which is the last version that _does_ sync with LO6?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Brian Read

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Lotus Organizer 6.0/6.1 was only supported until the 4.2 version you were on.
    Please see the attached link.

  • Desktop Manager 6.0 stopped working

For no apparent reason my DM version 6 stopped working yesterday.  I have de- and re-installed it and rebooted with no improvement.  When the application opens I see a partially loaded screen.  Very limited text and drop down arrows that do nothing, no menu options.  I do not get an error message.  I'm using Windows 7 and nothing about my laptop has changed since the last time I used the DM, except for I installed SKYPE.
What can I do if a re-install did not take care of it?
    Thanks,
    Carolyn

  • Can desktop manager be configured to view email attachment?

    Hi,
I have posted this question few times before and still have not gotten a definite answer. Can someone confirm if I can configure the desktop manager to view email attachment? If so, how do I achieve it? I am not one BES or BIS.
I have looked at the below KB and tried using the application launcher to install the attachmen service, however, it was not available in the application loader wizard.

    Desktop Manager 4.3
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First of all if you are nither BES nor BIS then there is no question of integrating email IDs in your device. Meaning no possibility of viewing email attachment in your device. For using any BlackBerry features you have to have a BlackBerry data plan. Please clarify this point.
Now regarding attachment viewing through Desktop Manager configuration is not possible. There is no such option in BlackBerry.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.1 stops works when I connect by bold 9780

    Hi
I've downloaded Desktop Manager 6.1 but when I attach my Bold 9780 and it starts to initialise the connection I get a dialogue box up saying "The destop manager has stopped working". Windows looks for a solution but can't find one. Following some suggestions on this forum, I saved the software and unzipped it manually but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions.

Same problem here but I can't find a solution anywhere.
I've been looking for a version of 6.0 because that worked but there don't seem to be any out there.

  • Blackberry desktop manager for mac not working

    Hi guys,
New to Blackberry yesterday and hitting a few problems, wondered if anyone had any advice, any mac users a bonus.
I installed the Desktop Manager from the CD that came with my Curve 3G onto my mac yesterday, that installed fine.
I then connected my phone and loaded the application up, it backed up fine, but when I went to Applications it told me I needed to install the latest version.
I went to the Blackberry site and downloaded it from there to make sure I had the latest version, although I'm sure they were the same builds as on the CD
I uninstalled the one I installed from the CD and tried again with the one I downloaded from the Blackberry site, but  It still flags up the same error that this is not the latest version.
I've had a quick browse on the net and it seems other mac users have had the same problems, does anybody have any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks
    Shaun

I'm having what seems to be the same problem and it's driving me crazy.
I just installed BlackBerry Desktop Software 2.0.0 (it's the only one I've ever had installed) and every time I open it and click "Applications' I get a window that says "A newer version of BlackBerry® Desktop Software is required to update the software on your device. Please download an updated version and retry."
At the same time a "Install/Remove Applications" window opens behind this window but nothing is listed, then the window disappears and "Device update cancelled" appears in the bottom left corner.
If I clicked to download the updated version before both windows disappeared, I get a "Download Progress" bar that says "Downloading updates. Please Wait."
It eventually times out and I get a window that says "The update download failed with the following error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -3003.)"
Anyone with this problem found a resolution? I've been searching around for nearly 2 hours and nada.

  • Desktop Manager Sync doesn't work on new computer

I've been using an 8310 for a number of months now and syncing it with Outlook 2007 using Desktop Manager 4.6 without trouble on a laptop running Windows XP.  I just got a new computer running Windows Vista 64-bit and installed Desktop Manager 5.0.  After setting it up and clicking the syncronize button, the sync status window opens up for a about 1-2 seconds and then disappears, without syncing any information.
I uninstalled 5.0 and re-installed 4.6 but get the same results.  In both cases, there are no error windows that come up.
Anyone else have this type of issue and know what may be causing this?
    Thanks.

I've got the exact same issue. I am trying a clean install of the software to see if that changes anything.
I was wondering if the issue stems from where the information is being pulled from.  When I installed Outlook 2007 on this new computer, I made a backup of my .pst file & moved that over to the new computer.  Since the exact file name is no longer the same, I wonder if that is impacting the ability of the synch process?
