Desktop Manager compatability with BES 5.0

Hi
We are running BES 5.0.2 and use DM 5.0.1
Does anyone know if this is fully supported, or we are supposed to use Web DM?

Hey Sheen,
This is compatible.  What BlackBerry smartphones will be enterprise activated?  If they are running BlackBerry OS 6, then you will need to run BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0.

  • Will Desktop Manager Sync with Sage ACT?

I have a customer who has a Windows Mobile device and is thinking of moving to a BB device as WinMo no longer works for him.
Will DTM sync with Sage ACT at all?
In the sync options you normally get the options of different programs to sync with, will ACT appear in this list?
    Thanks
    Tom

If I recall correctly, in the past Desktop Manager version 4.2.2 did sync with ACT!.
DM 4.2 is no longer supported by RIM.
The current support DM 5.0 does not. Sorry.

  • Desktop Manager compatible with Blackberry Bold 5.0 OS?

To make a long story short, the workstation I use for Microsoft Exchange e-mail is running on the Windows 2000 server OS that was provided by the corporate office.
Since I currently have Desktop Manager 4.7 running without problems for my Blackberry Bold, I am wondering if it will be compatible with the upcoming Bold 9700 5.0 OS.  I only need my e-mail forwarded to the Blackberry mobile.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Well, in most cases, I usually advise folks to use a version of DTM that is at least as new as their device OS. But in your case, that won't work since Win2k was last supported in DTM 4.7 and is not listed as supported since DTM 5.0. But, it can't hurt too much to try (just make sure you have well saved backups first!!)...what you really want to do is to install DTM and then also install your device OS update package atop DTM so that DTM can be properly modified for your specific device OS level. If it does not work, you can always fall back to 4.7.
    Good luck!

  • Desktop Manager crashes with "unknown error" message before sync starts

I have the latest phone software, the very latest version of the desktop software and I can't get the sync to get past the initialization stage before it crashes.  I've read some of the other posts about changing the synch settings but I can't even get to the settings options before it crashes.  I've uninstalled the desktop software and reinstalled it (both with and without the media manager add on).  I've done a battery pull on the phone itself.  I've even done a restore of the last good backup of the phone.
Is it just me or does this house of cards seem to collapse every time there's an update to either the desktop software or the phone software?

If you have reinstalled the software without using the clean removal procedure I recommend you
use the procedure and the install the desktop manager again. The procedure cleans the registry and
completely strips all directories etc. This will save you headaches in the long run.
Use the first procedure to check the possible causes of the "unknown error".

Most posts I see regarding any new desktop manager are installation and setup errors by far.
The other posts mainly are Windows OS programs that aren't updated or unique to a specific PC setup.
House of cards? I don't think there are enough cards for a double deck pinochle game.

Also, if you use certain features in Essbase that are easy to add in EAS, you end up with outline verification problems in AppMgr, including problems in member calcs.<BR><BR>We are on 7.1.3, but some of our financial users do still have AppMgr 6.5.4. • HELP-HELP-HELP Desktop Manager Crashes while loaded or connected with BB

Hi All... Please Help me out....!!!! I have recently purchased a BB 8310 Curve from Vodafone. From very 1st day, it could not be connected in my laptop with Desktop Manager supplied with the package CD. I have downloaded the latest version of BB Desktop Manager from the site, but it seems to be worst than before, it crashes before connecting the BB in USB port. Desktop Manager crashes every time, when the BB is connected : This shows an error message Box "BlackBerry Desktop manager has encountered a problem and needs to close" The error signature is shown from mshtml.dll file.

  • Desktop Manager Wont Backup Word Substitution

I'm using Desktop Manager 6 with OS6, and my Desktop Manager won't backup my Word Substitution list (formerly called autotext in OS5).  I have about 200 of the word substitution entires in my phone, but when i try to back them up, the desktop manager only shows that I have 3 entries.  There's no error message or anything, it just shows 3 entries, when I know i have at least 200.  Anyone know how to fix this? I really dont want to have to re-enter 200 entries manually if I ever need to restore my phone.  Thanks

It seems a little silly that it cant be backed up since it's clearly in the list of applications you can choose when you click on customized backup.  If it can't be done, why even put it there in the first place?? I dont have any blackberries with OS5 still on it, but the method you described is exactly how i got my old autotext list onto OS6, I restored my last OS5 backup and then added all the updates manually.  I'm trying to figure out a way to save the word substitution list as a memo (which can be backed up) but I dont want to copy and paste each entry individually, so it loks like i'm out of luck on this one...
Thanks for your input tho )

  • Blackberry desktop manager error message

When I install my bdm I receive an error message "Blackberry desktop manager has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It carries on installing however till the end.  When you try to open it, you get the same error message but then it opens up the application.  The problem is that it does not detect my phone at all.  I have tried every solution that I could find on the message boards - checked the USB ports (it picks up the blackberry and installs the software and charges), it is registered on the wireless network etc., etc.  I am no technician so a lot of the answers went way above my head.  I tried different versions of desktop manager but with the same result.  What am I to do?
The error message that I get when I open up desktop manager is the following:
    C\DOCUME~1\ANNELI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\4ef7_appcompat.txt

    Try the following:
Make sure your BB is not connected to the computer.
    Close the desktop manager.
    Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application data
    Delete the entire Intellisync folder.
Connect your BB and open the desktop manager.
    Sync your device.

  • Desktop Manager +Controlled Access Mode

Is there a way to make Desktop Manager work with CAM? I have two different user modes set up in SDM and I want both of them to log in automatically without requiring username and password. Is there a way to do it with CAM? Or if there is any other way to make the thin clients autologin I would be grateful if you let me know. Maybe some way with using dtlogin or gdm?

I'm not sure I fully understand what you're trying to accomplish, but it's likely the Desktop Manager will not be of much help during the login process. It works once the session is started for the user identity which has been established. The CAM mode is probably not going to help you either, unless I misunderstand you, because it doesn't really involve a reliable user identity (just a throwaway user account which gets assigned from a pool when the session is started).
I'd imagine there are ways to trigger autologins, most likely involving an extra PAM module, but I'm afraid I don't enough about this to be helpful on that matter. Sorry about that.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager with BES

We are currently testing out BES and one of the requests from the users was the ability to charge the device from a computer. Obvioulsy to stop the installing new hardware etc we have installed the Desktop Manager and selected to use with BES. My question is what does the software synchronise to the device when you plug it in because surely the bes should do everything?!? Then again I am pretty new to this so not 100% sure.
    Dave

That depends on what you have selected in the Synchronize options. If you have if set to synchronize the PIM data then it will sync the Calendar, Address Book, Tasks, Notes bidirectionally between Outlook.
If you don't want anything to sync you can go under Synchronize and uncheck the 2nd box from the top (I think that's it, don't have it in front of me to double check)

  • Can I use Bluetooth to sync Blackberrry Bold diary and contacts with Desktop Manager (versions 6 or 7)?

I have successfully set up a Bluetooth connection with my PC.  Can anyone tell me it is possible with either (or both) versions of the Desktop Manager software?  (i.e. update all info without need for a cable connection using a Blackberry Bold 9900)

    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

  • Desktop Manager Crashes During Sync Phase with Notes Calendar

    Hello All,
My Destop Software continually crashes at the point of Syncing with Lotus Notes Calendar. Every other part of Syncing with Notes works fine and sometimes I get a partial Sync with the Calendar, but consistently every time it crashes during this part of the process and then I get the Windows error window saying the software has encountered a problem and needs to close. Here are some other facts to help.
I am running V4.7 of the Destop Manager, latest downloaded from this web site.
PC is Win XP Proffesional, 2002 SP2. 3Gb RAM Duo Core 2GH
I have uninstalled/re-installed the Desktop Manager twice
I get other C Runtime errors with Device Manager on a random basis.
    I have a BB Storm.
    Anything else?
I have emailed the BlackBerry Support but seems to be a Black Hole with no response despite prompting them several times since putting in the email. I am a relatively educated PC user, My laptop is near new, I have many simple and sohpisticated applications installed with a (other than the BB Desptop application) very clean, well maintained and error free operating environment. This is a very disappointing BB first time experience.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
What version of Lotus notes would that be?
Is this is this server based, an island, or standalone Lotus notes?
Are you setup as BES or BIS?
    Thanks,
