Desktop Manager gets stuck during backup.

Desktop Manager keeps getting stuck during device backup. At the "Messages" backup stage it gets about 80% of the way through then just hangs there. It makes no further progress and thus does not complete a backup.
How do I resolve this issue?
Desktop Manager 4.6, Blackberry Bold, Windows XP.

  • Why is my iPad getting stuck during backup

I am trying to update my iPad (1) in itunes and it's trying to back up first. I can't get through the backing up process because it appears to be getting stuck. I have no idea why this is happening. HELP!

    Friends,
You should set Send&Receive using your mobile number and/or email account in your iPhone.
In your iPad, make it different to Send&Receive. If you set as the same as your iPhone, the messages also appears in both devices.
    Eg.: iPhone: Send&Receive from 123 456 78
           IPad: Send&Receive from [email protected]
    Hope it will be helpful

  • Open in wrong drive and/or getting stuck during startup

    Please help!
My Mac OS X (10.4.11) has two drives: one for normal use and one for backup. For some reason my Mac keeps opening up in the backup drive. I go to System Preferences and click on Startup disk, and tell it to restart in the main drive, and it still opens up in my backup. It will eventually let me over after a dozen tries (give or take a few).
Once in a while it will freeze up during startup, get stuck during loading, or the fan will go into overdrive and I get nothing but a gray screen.

Whew! Sounds like a potential combination of needing to repair the drive(s) and zapping PRAM. What exact model of computer (OSX is the operating system, not the computer model)?
Boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
Once all is clear, you might need to reset PRAM.

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that your all Windows 8.1 computers connect to network via normal wireless network.
Did you have wireless router for them?
Please delete this adhoc, then check if these computer could connect to network.

My iphone 4 is getting stuck during gaming when sim card is inserted. Call anyone help me out to solve this problem?

That doesn't make any sense to me at all, unless the games you're trying to play have some sort of online connection/capability and you're in a weak signal area, thus the games can't make the required online connection. What happens when you turn cellular data off in settings: Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data>Off.

  • Is Apple not aware of all the users getting stuck in BACKUP loading OS 5?

I know I'm not the only person running PC XP that is getting stuck in Backing up your iPhone purgatory!!!  This is the third morning I've checked my iPhone 4 after letting it attempt to update ALL NIGHT LONG.  It has been sitting on my desk, connected with the backup window running blue left to right with no apparent progress in updating.  I click on STOP and it says it's cancelling the update but then it gets stuck.  Can't stop it, can't close the window and have to end up using Task manager to stop the application.  3 attempts - 3 completely identical set of results.  I've been updating and syncing since iPhone 2 without any issue.  Now the supposedly wonderful update doesn't work.  I am saddened by the loss of Steve Jobs, the man the visionary.  I've never had an issue with any of my 5 iPhones (2G 4GB, 2G 8GB, 3G 16GB, 3GS 32GB and this 4G 16GB).  I'm lost because I've never had to think about discussing a problem.  I've googled my issue and other than older posts related to previous OS issues, my issue seems to be relatively new.  HELP!!!!

The phone you bought is NOT unlocked. The seller lied.

I am trying to backup my data using the Blackberry desktop manager, but it keeps trying to connecting with the phone with no vail (Although it is connected with the blackberry device manager and I can get some media files as a usb. I urgently need to backup my contacts and calendar, in order to update them on my new bold 9780.
    Can anyone help??

It sounds like more might be damaged than just the display. It is odd, though, that the media card shows but not the device databases. Hardware failures have been known to corrupt software, though.

  • Desktop Manager crashes when opening backup file with critical information

I was on a trip and a family member triggered my Bold's secure wipe (wrong password 10 times).  I had made a back-up just before the trip and it contains very critical information.  When I try to do a restore with Desktop Manager (4.7.0.32, same version as used to make the backup), it crashes as soon as I select the backup file.  I tried opening the .ipd backup file from Advanced instead, with the handset disconnected, with the same crash result: "An unhandled win32 exception has occured in DesktopMgr.exe [4340]." where the number in the brackets is different every time.
Please help me, I will likely lose my job if I cannot restore the information from this backup!
Edit: I tried reinstalling the Desktop Manager, and same thing.  I even tried 4.6 instead of 4.7 and again, same thing.
Message Edited by Prune on 12-31-2008 05:03 AM

Connected to the USB, can you do a Restore > Advanced and select the critical databases?
Are you connected to the PC via USB to a rear PC USB port--not a USB hub, or front monitor port?

  • Threads get stuck during load test

    Hi,
We are running some stress tests and receive some warnings about threads getting
    stuck.
My question is regarding the warning itseld, how can I know from the warning string
    what was the thread doing.
We got two kinds of warnings:
    1) Warnings regarding "null" requests, which look more or a less like this:
    <Jan 19, 2004 8:23:59 PM GMT> <Warning> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000337> <ExecuteThread:
'117' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "1,411" seconds working
on the request "null", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime)
    of "600" seconds.>
    2) Warnings regarding "ConnectionXXX.SessionYYY", which look like this:
    <Jan 15, 2004 6:12:15 AM CST> <Warning> <WebLogicServer><BEA-000337> <ExecuteThread:
'9' for queue:'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "707" seconds working
on the request "connection72.session501", which is more than the configured time
    (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.>
Does anyone know what is the meaning of this part of the warning?
    TIA,
    Lior

    Hi,
Thanks for the explanation. My question was regarding the fomrat of the warning
    message.
Can I find out what was the thread doing according to the <request "null"> or
<request "ConnectionXXX.SessionYYY"> which appear in the warning?

Does anyone know what is the meaning of this part of the warning?Basically it means that given threads spent time processing requests
that exceeded configured threshold (600 second is a default value).
When it happens, weblogic signals this situation with the warnings
above. It's done to notify about potential exhausting of execute threads.
If the request processing times above are normal, you need to increase
the threshold to eliminate these messages. If not, you may want to find
out why it's taking so long.
Let me know if you have more questions.

  • Desktop Manager Update- Stuck on "Loading Applications" step

I started to download a desktop manager update and the download has been on step 10 of 12 for almost an hour.  That step of the process is the "loading applications" task.  Is it normal for the update to take this long?  There is a message at the top of te update box warning me not to diconnect my device or I risk damage to the apps and the device.
I am wondering if this is the normal time and how I can prevent damaging the device if it's not normal?  Thanks for the help!

Updates don't usually take this long, so it's possible something may have gone wrong.  Do you know what the update was for?  If you're with Sprint, it may have been upgrading the operating system on your phone, but other than that, I'm not sure why it would be doing that.
If you still need additional help, please post back and include your carrier name and if you know it, the operating system version that was installed on the phone.  And let us know what, if any, messages are displayed on the phone and/or computer.

  • Time Machine stuck during backup

From December 28 to January 13 my Time Machine functioned without issue, using an external Seagate Free Agent Drive (300 GB) with a 150 GB partition devoted to TM. For whatever reason I didn't happen to connect the drive from the 13th to the 16th, and now it appears to be freezing during the preparation process or very early in the backup.
I've looked at some of the non-complete packages to try and ascertain the problem - so far it appears to always hang while backing up the Applications folder. Why it is re-backing up this whole folder at once is beyond me, as I'm only aware of one program I've recently updated - Flip4Mac. Incidentally, this was the program is was halting on initially - so I added that to the exclude list. Next go at it, and its stuck on a different program. Then another. Then another.
Do I really need to exclude my whole Applications folder? That seems a bit counterintuitive to me.

I've discovered the culprit after some additional searching here. Apparently Time Machine does not function correctly while the iSight is enabled. In the past I've had no trouble with Time Machine running in the background with a variety of other processes ongoing, but apparently this one is problematic. After quitting Skype I've found that backups completed quickly and painlessly. Hopefully this post is helpful to others as well, and hopefully Apple addresses this - at least through improving Time Machine's dreadfully horrible Help files.
