Desktop manager isn't recognizing outlook

When trying to configure latest DTM 6 for the first time (new laptop, just installed Outlook 2007) it isn't showing Outlook as one of the available desktop programs to sync with.
How do I get DTM to see Outlook?

  • 8830 & Desktop Manager does not recognize Outlook Express 2000, cannot sync

I just installed Desktop Manager 5.0 and connected to my BB 8830.  I use Outlook Express 2000 for calendar and I want to sync it with my BB 8330.  However, in Desktop Manager under Sync / Config / Select Device for calendar, the only choices are Yahoo and Import/Export Text.  Obviously it is not recognizing Outlook Express 2000 as a calendar program.  Does anyone have a solution?
I bought this 8830 mainly to sync its calendar with my Outlook Express calendar.  If it does not work, then I am going to return it to my cell phone carrier.
    Solved!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Outlook 2000 has not been supported since Desktop Manager 4.2.
KB14763 Unable to select Microsoft Outlook 2000 from the list of applications for synchronization
I would check on Outlook 2003, still supported by MS and the cheapest version still available.

  • Desktop Manager Not recognizing Outlook 4.6

Hi.  I recently purchased a Verizon Curve 8330 and installed the Desktop manager 4.6.  My laptop uses Windows XP and Office 2000.  I can't get the manager to recognize outlook.  Fixes I've tried so far:
    Uninstalling 4.6 and installing 4.5--then 4.3--then 4.2 sp2--then 4.2 sp1 (threatened to destabilize windows, so I aborted the install).
(each new install was preceded by an uninstall of prior version)
With 4.3 and above, my 8330 was recognized, but no Outlook.
    With 4.2 sp2 it wouldn't recognize my 8330.
I managed a work-around to get my outlook calendar/contacts from my palm by changing conduits to my Palm Desktop and then syncing with 4.3.
I've reviewed the thread on Desktop Mgr 4.5 not recognizing Outlook 2000, and if I'm missing something please tell me.
Any thoughts on how to get Outlook 2000 to sync with my 8330?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
DM 4.6 will service Outlook 2000,
Use this procedure to   erase the prior install and clean the registry:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB11320&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Reload 4.6 and  go through al the setup options.
Let me know if it doesn't recognize Outlook 2000.
    Thanks

  • Desktop manager does not recognize Outlook 2003.

    Hello everyone,
We have an Exchange server but use POP3 accounts individually on the users also.
I have installed this software (desktop manager) many times with other clients and never had an issue.
On this particular user using Blackberry 9550 v5.0.0.713 I have installed and then uninstalled desktop manager 6.0 because it saw that we had Exchange and automatically assumed Enterprise Server was present, when I chose not to use Enterprise account, it did not see Outlook as a choice to synchronize with.
I then removed 6.0 removed user settings, restarted and installed Desktop Mangager 5.01 sp1.  I chose the option for personal mail.  The synchronize configuration still does not list Outlook as a choice to configure.
Has anyone else run into this?
I found a post that said to make sure that Wireless Sync is off and it is.
    Help please,
    Jeanne

    Hey giaierj,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Have you tried performing a detect in repair in Microsoft Outlook?
For more information about Detect and Repair: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02403
After you perform this step, then try to setup the synchronization.

  • Sync problem BB Curve 8310 and Desktop Manager v4.6 with Outlook 2003

I have a BB Curve 8310 with Desktop Manager v4.6 that I syn with Outlook 2003. Calendar, tasks, and memo will sync.  The sync fails on the address book with this message:  Unable to read application data record. Translation Canceled!  From other message boards, I understand that the problem could be with a particular contact record but I can't find that record.  I've followed all suggestions about organizing Outlook to look for blank entries for name or company and have deleted all those found.  The names on the BB log are not alpa so finding the one that is incorrect is a problem.  The sync failed at record 1211 out of 1428.  I deleted the last record shown on the log and but then it failed at record 1210!  I deleted several addresses and now it fails at record 1192.  There must be more to this!  I am getting ready to purchase a new computer and all new software and would like to resolve this issue before moving to new equipment.  HELP!

First perform a clean uninstall oof DM 4.6.

  • Desktop Manager won't sync Outlook

Just got a new Bold and now Desktop manager won't configiure to sync with Outlook.  It gives me a "Not able to connect to internet" error.  Removing firewalls and Norton didn't help.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it?

    Hi MarcBrittain,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
This article should provide more information on this issue. http://bbry.lv/mfgghx
There are some additional steps in it to try to diagnose the issue. If none of the steps in the article resolve the issue, you may want to try disabling your startup items in the System Configuration Utility and rebooting before trying again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 and Desktop Manager v5.0

I have a BB curve 8330 running the current device software, BB Desktop manager v5.0 and Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista and have just recently experienced problems syncing.  I continue to get an error message such as below...
Faulting application DesktopMgr.exe, version 5.0.0.11, time stamp 0x4a4bd539, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e03821, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000afaf8, process id 0x1dc, application start time 0x01ca41d751046e2b.
I've tried everything I can think of from reinstalling DTM, previous versions of DTM...getting rid of the "intellisync" folder that others have discussed...scanning my PST and OST files for errors, reconfiguring the sync settings...all with the same result.  Everything is fine until it goes to read the calendar off of outlook and sync it...then it crashes saying the program has to close and windows will notify me if there is a solution....I've even tried running DTM with Vista's "Administrator" option and no dice...
I'm thinking this is an issue either with DTM or with the latest Vista Update (Windows 7 can't come soon enough!)....anyone else have any other ideas as to what this could be???

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While you have tried many things, I cannot tell if you have tried this...so apologies if it is redundant in any way.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • Desktop software not recognizing Outlook 2000 at all

    I'm running Windows 2000 platform, and Outlook 2000 (SP3).
    I have a BB Storm.
I've installed Desktop version 4.7. (Can't install a higher version on Windows 2000.)
Installation went fine. Software recognized the Storm. When I go to the Syncronization and click on the box in front of Calendar (or any of the choices), the only 3 choices I see are:
    None
    ASCII Impoter/Exporter
    Yahoo
I've read every word of every manual, and can't find anything that will help me get Outlook onto that list. According to the Help section, Outlook is supported, yet it doesn't display.

  • BB recognized by computer & Desktop Manager, but does not connect?

All right, I've scoured these forums and can't figure this out. Tell me if I've missed something.
Blackberry is recognized by my computer AND by Desktop Manager, but does not fully connect so I can sync. I can see it in My Computer, and the Desktop Manager does recognize the model of smartphone when it's plugged in. Both Windows, and Desktop Manager ask me for my password when I connect the USB cord. However, it just says 'connecting' in the bottom right, and never gets past that. When the phone is initially plugged in, the screen goes to the clock (normal), and flashes the 'connection' screen (BB and computer icons connecting with a cord). It flashes that screen twice then goes back to the clock. The Desktop Manager then just keeps trying to connect, until I unplug it. Both the computer and desktop manager recognize when I've unplugged it.
    Running:
    Windows 7, 64bit
    Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35
    Blackberry Tour 9630
This is a new computer. I was running Windows XP with Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35 previously, and it worked no problem, but that is no longer an option.
The goal is to be able to sync with Outlook 2007. Need very badly to be able to do this.
    Did all the simple stuff:
    Oh so many Windows restarts,
Blackberry battery pull, both unplugged and plugged into computer with Desktop Manager running,
    Desktop manager reinstall,
plugged into every different USB port,
    tried a different cord.
    Went deeper:
BB USB drivers fully up to date
Turned OFF USB power management on all my ports in device manager,
    Disabled USB selective suspend setting
Deleted my intellisync folder in appdata/roaming,
    Turned off Windows UAC notifications,
Tried every combination of BB memory compression on and off, or mass storage mode on and off,
There might be more I've tried but don't remember. I've been searching the net for days now.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can try. This is a serious issue for me right now, I need to be able to sync with Outlook 2007.
    Thanks in advance

I have had my bb 8330 since last August.  I have had to delete and reinstall desktop manager multiple times due to various problems.  Recently I sync'd and lost appointments in both the bb and in outlook.  DM will not allow me to override the flagging to delete.  I deleted DM and reinstalled the newest version with media, attempted to resync and it still wants to delete.  Currently I have 40+ appointments in the bb that are not in outlook (they had been at some point).  I also have appointments in Outlook that the sync wants to delete from the bb.  On top of this, I have lost contacts I didn't realize until I tried to use them (appear to have been deleted by the bb from my outlook).
The "Details to confirm calendar edits" window box in desktop manager allows clicking to view the entry but does not allow me to override the status of either delete or add so I cannot change the deletions to additions, etc.
I looked in the options in DM to see if there was a place where I could change a setting which would allow me to override the status but couldn't find anything.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Otherwise I think the only way to fix it is to write down all of my appointments in both the bb and outlook, attempt a sync and re-enter all the appointments again.  Time consuming!!  And if I need to do that I may as well go back to a hardcopy calendar.
A friend suggested that if there is too much data in the bb that it will only keep the newest entries and maybe that is why I have lost some data.
So, along those lines can someone tell me how to do a mass delete of e-mails on the bb directly?  I know how to delete one e-mail but cannot figure out how to flag more than one.
    Thanks!  motomom3

on the device if you open messages, highlight the newest one you want to delete, click menu button, and click delete prior, this will delete eveything older than it.
if you plug into DTM, goto backup/restore - advanced... you can completely clear the messages database

    DTM- help-about
device- options- about, 3rd line down, v4.x.x.x
you can go to c:\documents and settings\(your username)\research in motion\blackberry\   and delete the intellisync folder
then go in and setup sync settings again

  • Help Needed w/Desktop Manager 4.6 & Outlook Calendar Synch

Everything was working just fine prior to my holiday break. Came back this morning and attempted to synch my BBCurve (running 4.5.0.81) with my Desktop Manager (v4.6) and it is just skipping over the calendar sync portion. No error message. Everything else is synching just fine. Deleted and reinstalled Desktop software -- that didn't work. Disabled calendar sync and re-enabled -- that didn't work. cleared the BB Calendar of all entries and now have no calendar entries on the device. HELP!

I deleted the Intellisync folder, and reset the Desktop Manager configuration settings and I received the following Intellisync error message:
The operation terminated unexpectedly while reading from Microsoft Outlook Calendar
Then I tried to sync just from Outlook Calendar to Device -- that failed
Then I tried to sync just from Device to Outlook Calendar -- that failed as well
Then I deleted Intellisync folder again and rebooted my computer
Successfully synced from Device to Outlook
Tried to sync from Outlook to Device and it appears to be running, says one moment please and nothing happens and it returns to the Desktop Manager with no error message. Grrrrr.....
