DeskTop Manager issues

I downloaded Desktop Manager to my laptop and when I try to use it.. such as launch Media Manager it says current display settings do not meet minimum requirements.. change resolution to minimum 1024x768 or higher and 16 bit. The OS on the laptop is Windows 7 and its set at 1600x900. Anyone know what the problem is? besides me being a bit computer illiterate?  I'd appreciate any help.

Calgarymax,
There are no minimum graphic requirements for the the Desktop Software its self, but the Roxio Media Manager when selected during the installion does require the following settings:
Minimum of 1024*768 in 16-bit mode .. 24-bit or 32-bit is whats recommended.
If setting your display higher does not resolve the issue, i would uninstall and then try to reinstall with the Roxio Media Manager selected. If you have Roxio software already installed on the PC it may cause a confic requiring you to reinstall that other Roxio component.
Hope this helps,

  • Desktop Manager issue

    Hello,
I noticed something, that everytime i connect my blackberry torch to my pc, and open desktop manager, the internet connection at my pc turns off automatically, and i cant reconnect to my wifi signal, and when i exit desktop manager then i can cpnnect to the wifi and use the internet normally.
    what could be the issue?
    Regards,

I had a similar issue as well. What worked for me was to delete applications from the Applications list in Desktop Manager. I had several entries for similar .cod files that my .alx was referencing.
Here is what I did to remove the apps from the Application List
    1.  Win7/Vista users   Click Start and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
WinXP, previous    Click Start, run and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
This will cause the "Registry Editor" to open.
    2.   Using the Folder Tree on the left window pane, navigate to the following:
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Research in Motion > Blackberry > Loader > Packages
    3.    Once you've selected the "Packages" Folder, on the right pane will be displayed the base (install) names of any files/programs you have installed onto your Blackberry device.
    4.   Select the ones that you no longer want to be displayed and hit the "Delete" Key. (You can also right-click the key and select "Delete"
    5.   Repeat Step 4 until all the unwanted programs are gone.
I know this post is old but maybe someone who runs into this 2 years from now (like I did) will be able to reference it and prevent searching for hours to fix it.
    Cheers,.

  • BlackBerry desktop manager issue

I just got a BB Storm today.  Installed the BB desktop manager on my computer.  However, when I click on the desktop mamanger icon to get started, I get the message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BlackBerry 8130.msi' in the box below."  I am not sure what to do next.  Help!

Did you try ALL the clean uninstall steps? If not try ALL of them and then rebooting to see if you can install the newer version of the Desktop Manager.
If so and it's still not working try to install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the Desktop Manager then try again - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

  • Won't sync to desktop manager.

    Hi!
I was wondering if anyone could help me.  I am trying to connect to my desktop manager on my mac and my phone will not connect.  It has done so previously but now whenever I try it tells me that its not connected.  I am not sure what all to do to solve the problem.
Also I know this isn't a desktop manager issue but thought since I was posting maybe I could kill 2 birds with one stone.  My phone profile is set to loud and previously it used to give me a tone and vibrate for a phone call, text message, etc.  Now it does not ring, give tones or vibrate so I don't know when I'm receiving a call or a text or anything else.  Why would this be?  In addition to that, whenever I try to read the texts that I have received, it is doing something strange.  Previously when I would click on the message it would open it up.  Now it marks it as read without opening it.  I have to click it again to get it to open.  Before when I would reply it would include the other persons text but now it only shows anything I have said to them.  What can I do to fix this as well?
The only thing I have done differently on my phone lately is to download some free themes out of the Blackberry App World.  I installed them and then decided I didn't like 2 of them so deleted them.  However they are still showing in the theme section.  How can I get them to go away permanently and would this have caused the problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Are you still experiencing this issue? Have you tried using another USB port or USB cable to connect? If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac. http://bbry.lv/cjrGPM
Once your BlackBerry connects with the Desktop Manager, you may want to do a clean application load to resolve the issues your device is having. http://bbry.lv/aKuQoN

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

  • Desktop Manager sync issues: windows closes the program

I have Windows Vista and my BB Desktop manager is v4.5.  In the past 2 weeks I have been unable to sync my BB 8330 as windows closes the program after it compares the calendar in outlook and tells me I have an app crash.  I have read all the threads and instructions to remedy this problem, and have tried each solution, but to no avail.  I'm at a loss as to what to do now.

    Hi,
I have reread the entire post and I've got to tell you I missed the most important part.
Windows closes the program and Windows tells you there is a APPCRASH which is why there
is no reference to it in the knowledgebase.
Here is the correct forum: Microsoft Windows Vista Support
We will be glad to work with you on the Blackberry program side, this is a Vista error.
There are also many references to it on Google.
Let us know how it goes!

  • E-mail issue after using Desktop Manager

I am a new BB user (Curve 8530). So I am confused with this issue. Couple of days back I connected phone to my laptop and used desktop manager (ver 5.0.0.11). I just wanted to explore the features of DM. After I disconnected from laptop, the company account emails stopped coming to the handheld nor I could send any from the company mail-id from the phone. I have configured gmail and hotmail on the BB. These were operational perfectly. Only the official mail-id was not getting synched. And I started getting mails with etp.data files in my outlook. The company BB admin guys resolved the issue. So everything was fine. But no one could tell what was wrong. So today I again connected to the phone to DM cause I wanted to move contact from outlook to phone. Now again, i have the same issue. No official emails on my phone. I am sure the admin guys will again solve the issue. But I need to know why is this happening, else i won't be able to use DM at all. can some one explain as to why this could happening. should i check/change any setting on phone or DM.

I am not sure this could help, but when you first intalled DM, did you onfigure it for Enterprise Use? Are you running 5.0.1 or 6.0? In the 5.0.1 version, you had to set it up for BES use when first installing the software.
Also, validate with IT the email and other security policies they have in place for BES users...
I know I am providing more questions than solutions, but hopefully they will steer you in the right way...

  • Desktop Manager 4.3 issue

I am trying to help an employee whom just got their Blackberry Curve 8330 a few days ago and hasn't had the chance to synch with Microsoft Outlook 2003 SP3.
We plug the Blackberry in the computer, it recognizes the device and automatically starts synchronizing but a Microsoft error will appear stating that " an error occurred with BB Desktop Manager and the application needs to shut down." And while viewing this message we noticed that in Desktop Manager---it was in the process of synchronizing the calendar, assuming the calendar might be the culprit? I’ve checked the Device Manager settings on the USB and it’s seemed to have recognized the device. In addition, I’ve noticed that every time I would open Desktop manager the error message will pop up again (with or without the device plugged in). So would this be a software issue?
Should I un-install 4.3 and reinstall it? Or should I download an more recent version?

  • Desktop Manager bugs issue report!!

using Desktop Manager software latest version or beta stage version handset can't update OS even using loader.exe and desktop manager.
    1. using loader.exe
OS installation already on local storage but when do update manually the package is empty.
    2. using desktop manager.exe
OS installation already on local storage but when do update its must be update online and only OS older version at online update

Any beta related discussions should be posted to the BlackBerry Beta Zone. However, that said, one thing to check is to ensure the device software has indeed is indeed installed before attempting the update. If you happen to uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software, it will also delete any preinstalled BlackBerry Device Software.
So install the Desktop Software, then the device software. Now does it work?

  • Issues using Desktop Manager

Thanks to all of you who try to help all of us with problems. I've just spent some 2-3 hours reading through various posts, working on my list of questions, etc. I'm not a fast reader, unfortunately. And, even while looking for the area of my specific issues I've learned things. Unfortunately, I have so many questions it's hard to imagine how I can find the time to track them all down. I have one of those jobs that generally takes much of my time, so I sometimes don't get to even check my personal email for several days.
But this message is because it mentions configuring the desktop manager, which I've had trouble with. But I can't figure out how to get the answers I need. One major issue that I find irritating is that when I start up the DM it always tries to set up email... I have set up 3 emails which are forwarded to my BBy, and I'm happy with that. One of them is MS Outlook from one of my jobs. But I can't seem to set up anything that works to keep this from reappearing each time I start up. I also don't know what I'm doing when I'm trying to configure... all the choices that I don't understand, I worry that I'll mess up something that's working well.
I've been interrupted now, so can't continue my inquiry.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Issue syncing Bold 9650 and Entourage Calendar using Desktop Manager

I'm trying to sync calendar items in Entourage residing on my MacBook Pro with calendar items on my BB Bold 9650 and noticed that "Entourage" is no longer offered as a calendar choice with which to sync (I've been a BB and Entourage user for 2 years and this is a new issue - Entourage used to be offered as a choice).  I tried to fix by uninstalling Desktop Manager and reinstalling with newest version - no change - problem persists.  Calendar items are not syncing between BB and Entourage - any idea how to fix?

    My apologies hiforman.
If you click on Calendar in BlackBerry Desktop Software does it list more than 1 calendar?
Also you're saying in Contacts does it just list entourage?
Also open up iCal on the Mac, do you see an entourage calendar listed?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Contacts synching issues after installation of new Desktop Manager

After I installed the latest version of Desktop Manager a couple of weeks ago, my Outlook Contacts no longer synch correctly. It goes through the first 50 or so and then it's "off". It asks me to resolve conflicts between a profile in outlook and one on the Pearl that are for completely different people. It's as if the IDs on outlook and the IDs on the phone are completely out of synch?
I installed the new version today, same problem...
I've been using DM for years to synchronize with Outlook, never an issue.
    Any thoughts or recommendations?
    Thanks! Gabriele

  • Synching Issues After Desktop Manager 6 Upgrade

Since I upgraded to Desktop Manager 6.0.0, I have two problems:
    1) it no longer is synching my notes and tasks. When I click  "Organizer" to look at the configuration options, it now says that Tasks and Memo Pad are not installed. They used to synch just fine.
    2) When I do a 2-way synch for the calendar data, it want to makes changes to data that hasn't changed, and it wants to delete data that I haven't delected so I end up cancelling the synching altogether.
I suppose I could do a one time one-way synch from my computer to the device (my computer is generally more up-to-date than the device, but it makes me very nervous that the synching is so screwed up.
    Help please!

Same thing.   Sync was working perfectly.  I upgraded and now the Desktop software very (un)helpfully comes up with an "unknown error".
I've reinstalled the desktop software and same (un)helpful error message

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.0.11 Issues

I am running BDM 5.0.0.11, Device manager 4.7.1.11, and a BB Pearl 8130 OS 4.5.0.169. Everytime I sync my phone, it wants me to upgrade my core components. I have performed this task already the first time. Now everytime I sync my phone, it wants to do the OS upgrade everytime, and upgrade a whole list of items. I am new so I am not sure what to do.
Another question is, should my BDM, DM, and BB OS all have the same version numbers, or does that matter?
    Thanks in advance.

    1. There is nothing wrong with clicking CANCEL on the OS upgrade notification. You are not required to do so--and if you have already performed the upgrade and still get the notice, ignore it.
    2. No, the Desktop Manager and device OS do NOT need to be the same... not at all.

  • Can not install Desktop Manager because of DEP.

    Good day BlackBerry users,
I've just got myself a BlackBerry Storm 1, and I'd like to install the desktop manager.
I've downloaded the install from the site and I tried to install it.
In the beginning it's going well, I start it, select my country... but then...
...When I've selected my country and I click next the install freezes and I get the DEP error.
I've looked around these forums, but I do not get any help.
    Could someone please help me?
I'm pretty annoyed by this error.
I hope to get a useful answer.
    Kind Regards,
    Jurriën van Rooij.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately no, like with most software installations, information has to be written to certain parts of the computer, such as the registry, and you can't just use a USB flash drive to run your applications.
This error is a Microsoft Windows error and occurs when Windows detects code running from a protected location.  At this point, Microsoft is your best bet for support as this is not a BlackBerry Desktop Manager error.
    Thanks
