Desktop Manager - Reconcile Messages Grayed out....

Hi...I'm not able to configure my messages in the Synchronize tab because it is grayed out...any ideas what to do?  We've uninstalled and reinstalled the software, upgraded to 4.3 and its still grayed out...why? how can i fix this?  My previous blackberry had this function enabled. thanks

Hi XENA0966,
We apologize that you're having continued difficulty finding a resolution to your problem. If you're willing to provide us with some additional information, we are collectively committed to do our very best to determine the root cause of this issue for you.
I'd like to step backward and confirm the options that you chose when you installed the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Is it correct to state that you chose to install as a user of 'BlackBerry Internet Service'? Are you familiar with how you installed the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for your previous BlackBerry? Perhaps we can harvest some relevant information by investigating the installation of the software itself, as well as the options that were configured.
Can you also confirm that with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager opened to the default screen, you see 'Server Status: Online' in the bottom left-hand corner? Additionally, are you able to access other resources on your network when you are experiencing this problem? Do you know if you're working offline when this occurs? This question may be important because the option for reconciling messages (discounting certain configuration options chosen during the installation of BlackBerry Desktop Manager) requires connectivity to your mail system. If no such connectivity is available, the software disables the ability to configure that option.
It seems as though there is one problem here but that it may be exposing itself through multiple symptoms. If you're a BlackBerry Internet Service user, there are certain things that you should be able to do from the BlackBerry (such as enabling message reconciliation) and things that you will not be able to do. There are also things that you will be able to do in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and things that you will not be able to do, depending on this. The software on the desktop and on the device are designed to behave in a manner that suits the user type and back-end mail system. If we can clear some of the symptoms, through confirming your installation behavior and the settings on your BlackBerry, I expect that we can isolate the true problem.
We look forward helping you.

  • Mac Desktop Manager - Device has run out of memory

So, long story short, this is the latest (of a very long string) of error messages. I have been able, with the help of these forums, to troubleshoot all the others.
I am syncing my BB 8120 (v4.5.0.174) to iCal with the Desktop Manager, only set to sync calendar. It simply drops with an error that the 'Device has run out of memory'. Checking the Applications tab shows 17mb of free space.
    History:
I got this Blackberry a few months ago, deciding I wanted a robust phone with good battery life that had email.
I use gmail. Apparently this is not compatible with BIS, and had continual problems. This is still unsatisfactory - I have to use the gmail app which causes problems (hanging) and does not support push.
I was dismayed to discover that a Blackberry sync client for Mac had only recently been announced, however I persevered.
When it was released, I started using it, but it has continually given errors on all manner of different combinations.
I recently solved the contacts problem by syncing using the Google sync, which syncs also with my mac over the air.
This is not a solution for the calendars because iCal does not support google calendars well enough for my liking.
The phone sporadically has a spinning hourglass, for what reason(s) I cannot determine, even after battery pulls etc.
Suffice to say I have spent hundreds of hours troubleshooting this phone over the last months. For a phone whose main selling functions are email and organisation, it does neither of these reliably or well.
If I do not solve this problem soon I will return to my old phone which supported everything above more reliably, and had 4 times the battery life to boot. The only thing I would miss is the qwerty keyboard.

Ah yes, good old Project Manager. There are plenty of times when it causes more problems than it solves.
You might try deleting the following folder:
    User/Library/Preferences/Logic/PM Data
If you use Project Manager, it's easy enough to rebuild the table. If you don't then don't worry - just delete it. By the way, if you're into Project Manager or would like to know more, go to the website of the perhaps the most generous man in the Logic world, Edgar Rothermich and grab some of his user manuals.

  • Color Management : Rendering Intent Grayed Out

Currently running Lightroom vers 1.3.1. on a MAC mini 1.25 GHz Power PC G4 with Tiger 10.4.11. Not much RAM and not much of a printer. But totally enjoying Lightroom. My point is that prior to upgrading to the latest version of Lightroom I had no issues with Lightroom. None that a new Mac with more RAM and processing power plus a higher end printer couldn't handle much better. But to my point I use to be able to select between Perceptual and Relative in rendering intent. Now I don't have the ability as it has been grayed out after having chosen "Managed by Printer" in Color Management prior to printing. Have I missed checking something in preferences or haven't done correctly?
    Thanks

WOW! If the spirit of Christmas lives. I was just going over the Lightroom Tutorial with yourself and Michael Reichmann and listening to the both of you discuss Color Management settings, profiles and render intent. And low and behold who should reply just seconds after I closed the quicktime file and checked to see if I there was a reply to this message! Yikes!
    Thanks for the info!
By the way have thoroughly enjoyed the Tutorial!

  • Blackberry desktop manager error message

When I install my bdm I receive an error message "Blackberry desktop manager has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It carries on installing however till the end.  When you try to open it, you get the same error message but then it opens up the application.  The problem is that it does not detect my phone at all.  I have tried every solution that I could find on the message boards - checked the USB ports (it picks up the blackberry and installs the software and charges), it is registered on the wireless network etc., etc.  I am no technician so a lot of the answers went way above my head.  I tried different versions of desktop manager but with the same result.  What am I to do?
The error message that I get when I open up desktop manager is the following:
    C\DOCUME~1\ANNELI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\4ef7_appcompat.txt

    Try the following:
Make sure your BB is not connected to the computer.
    Close the desktop manager.
    Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application data
    Delete the entire Intellisync folder.
Connect your BB and open the desktop manager.
    Sync your device.

In both cases after running .exe file downloaded and saved on pc the flashplayer installation manger comes up for permissions.  but after clicking run, it is grayed out and nothing further happens. I will appreciate any help in getting this installed.
I have other laptop with Windows 7 professional  and ie 11.  there is no problem on playing videos in ie11 in this laptop.  so why do I have problem in this pc? Only difference is here I have Windows 7 Home premium.  Java version 32 and 64 bit are installed and enabled. • Desktop Image "Change" option grayed out

I just installed the firmware update that SoftwareUpdate recommended. The same day I installed iLife'08 so I'm not sure what to blame for this but the new event image folders provided by iPhoto will not "change every _ minutes." The option (in System Prefs) in the dialogue box turns gray when I select one of the iPhoto folders. It works fine for any of the apple image folders. I'm sure it's intended to still work but something's up. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    carpet1,
You said:The file does contain an instruction in the default folder "Change..Never." When I tried to change this to 0 and save, finder could no longer find the file. I'm lost!I too am lost. My previous instructions did not specify any file alterations. I do not know, nor did I specify that you should make any changes to the com.apple.desktop.plist file. The fact that the file was altered without a plist editor probably disrupted normal behavior.
If I open my com.apple.desktop.plist file with TextWrangler, I do see the following string...(YPlacementVChangeVRandomPlacementKeyTag_ChooseFolderPathCollectionStringZ ChangePathZChangeTime^ImageFileAlias]TimerPopUpTag]ImageFilePathZFillScreenUNev er), but I do not know how to change specific phrases in this plist to alter desktop behavior.
Whenever a plist file is removed from preferences folder a new one will be regenerated to replace the old one after a log out/in or restart. That means you will have an old com.apple.desktop.plist file on your Desktop and a new com.apple.desktop.plist in your ~Library/Preferences Folder. You should be able to discard the old plist and allow the new one to resume normal default functions. Plist files should not normally be edited unless you know specifically with certainty what effect your changes will produce.
Repeat the plist removal procedure if necessary, but do not make any changes to the replacement file. Permission repair may be considered without penalty.

  • Desktop Manager Greyed Out & Inaccessible

This is a new problem with Desktop manager as I previously had access to it. When I plug my Blacbkberry in and start up Desktop Manager, the full BB Desktop Manager window greys out (inaccessible). The title bar is showing as connected, the server staus (at bottom of BB Desktop Manager window) is online, the actuve device is detected and my Blackberry PIN is shown is the connected device. However, since the entire Desktop Manager box is greyed out, I do not have access to any of the buttons, such as synchronize. When the Blackberry is disconnected from my computer, then I can access the buttons (i.e., the greyed out area is normal again). I followed the Blackberry Trouble Shooting guide online for when the synchronize now button is not available, including uninstalling and reinstalling the software and turning off the antivirus software. I also did all updates for Windows. I'm running Windows 98. Any suggestions? What causes this?

I am also experiencing a very similar situation.  I have a Rogers 8310 Curve that syncs to my Win XP Pro laptop using CompanionLink to sync to my Goldmine CRM.    I have the original Blackberry Desktop Manager Ver 4.2.0.15 installed.  Up until this afternoon, the synchronization has worked perfectly ... never a problem.
During a Sync today, I inadvertandantly unplugged my Curve from the USB cable (forgetting that it was in the middle of a sync).  When I plugged the Blacbkberry back in and start the Desktop Manager, the full BB Desktop Manager window greys out (inaccessible). This is the exact same thing as described below:
The title bar is showing as connected, the server staus (at bottom of BB Desktop Manager window) is online, the actuve device is detected and my Blackberry PIN is shown is the connected device. However, since the entire Desktop Manager box is greyed out, I do not have access to any of the buttons, such as synchronize. When the Blackberry is disconnected from my computer, then I can access the buttons (i.e., the greyed out area is normal again).
So, before I go on a fishing expeditition, I'd like to confirm the best course of action.   I have a couple of questions:
    1) Should I uninstall the Desktop Manager as per the recommendation below?
    2) Should any other BB components be removed?
    3) When reinstalling, should I use Blackberry DM 4.3 again or would this be the time to update the Desktop Manager Software?
    4) If I should update the softward, which upgrade version of Desktop Manager can I safely use with this device?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Mail: Certain emails grayed out, can't delete them

    Strange one...
Mail version 3.6 running on a PPC Quad, OSX 10.5.8
A while ago I had a convoluted situation where I was receiving emails from two different mail servers, both of which had my email address registered with them (don't ask! ) so for a while I was receiving two copies of each email. After resolving the situation with the ISP's I deleted the account in Mail that was receiving mail from one of them. What I was left with was a strange situation where all of the duplicate messages remained on my system but don't seem to be associated with an email account. When I attempt to open a duplicate email, the message window is completely blank. And when I try to delete a duplicate, the message grays out. Can't be deleted.
I want to migrate the mailboxes on this older system to my new MacPro, but I'd like to clean up this mess before I do. Any advice on how to permanently delete these phantom emails would be most appreciated!
    Thanks.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

Move this file to the Desktop...

  • Zenworks Desktop Management for Windows 7

    Hello,
We are trying to figure out what is the solution for Windows 7. We are currently in a Novell environment (I believe Zenworks 7). Being unfamiliar with the Zenworks Desktop Management - can someone please explain the following to me:
We are trying to find the application launcher answer to deploying on Windows 7. Whenever I run the ZfDAgent.msi (7 agent/Zenworks Desktop Management) on a Windows 7 (Enterprise) machine, it says the following:
"The Remote Management Mirror Driver can only be installed on Windows 2000and Windows XP machines". Is there a new version of the Zenworks Desktop management software available/coming out for Windows 7?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Windows 7 is not supported on Zenworks for Desktops 7. You will need
to upgrade to Zeworks Configuration Management 10. I'm in the middle
of doing this myself right now.
    Regards,
    Ken
Thanks for the quick reply -- by chance have you ran across any white papers, webcasts, or documentation as to the desktop application features included with Zenworks Configuration Management 10? Such as how the application explorer/window are handled with this new version? I tried doing a search to no avail.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

What happened when you tried putting different battery in it? Did you ask to borrow one to test from the carrier?
Or did you purchase a new battery and try it?
Do you have the right battery for this series phone  and is it an OEM Blackberry battery?
See the picture below to make sure you have the right battery (note label color)

  • Reconcile email messages option not available in Desktop Manager

I recently installed the Desktop Manager in an attempt to sync my new Tour with Outlook 07. After going through the install process, I went to the Synchronize option in the desktop manager and the reconcile email messages option is greyed out. I have a home office and do not have a BB Enterprise Server.  In fact, there is not even an Email Settings icon available to me in the Main Menu of the desktop manager.  Any thoughts on how to enable this option? Thanks

That function is not available on a personal BIS account.
You'll need a BES account for email and messages reconcile, to Outlook.

  • Media Manager GRAYED OUT in Desktop Manager 4.6

I bought my first Blackberry, an 8320 Curve, a few weeks ago.  It came with Desktop Mgr 4.3 which didn't include Media Manager.  So when I bought and installed a 4 Gb expansion card in my Curve, I downloaded the 4.6 Desk Mgr update WITH Media Manager.
But when I click on Media Manager on the main screen,  I get a page divided in half, with Blackberry Media Sync on the righ, usable, and Media Manager on the left, all grayed out including its start button.
I installed the Blackberry Media sync, thinking this would give me access to Media Manager, but it didn't.  I've found a number of posts reporting this problem on the net, but no proper solution to it posted yet.
What am I doing wrong?  Thanks!!

I understand your frustration as I spent hours on this already.  I installed and uninstalled at least 5 times.  The solution is quite simple.  Once I got this working I didn't try the sequence in a different order which likely doesn't make a difference however this is what I did.
    1.  Uninstall the device software
    2.  Uninstall the desktop software
    3.  Log into the administrator account (not an account with admininstrator rights)
    4.  Install the device software (ensuring you have the media manager version which can be found on the blackberry.com website)
    5.  Install the desktop software and suddenly the media manager starts loading
I certainly hope this helps.  I'm certain the order of the installation is irrelevant and that the account being used to install the product is the issue.
    Good luck!

  • Media Manager Grayed out in Desktop manager 4.7

    Hi,
I have downloaded Desktop manager 4.7 with media manager and tried using it still i am getting inactiveed media manager.
    please help

Just to make sure, did you all download the Desktop Manager that came with media manager?
Try going through the installation again but this time instead of choose the "Typical"  option choose the "Custom" one. When you get to the screen with the dropdown arrows in the middle make sure the Media Manager doesn't have an X next to it. Choose the option to run it from the computer.
Also if you're downloading the desktop software instead of double clicking on the EXE file, right click it and choose to "Extract To" to extract all the files to a folder. After this go into the folder the you extracted the files to and look for a folder called "SR_MM" and run the "Setup.exe" file - It will take approximately 15 minutes to install the media manager software.
