Desktop manager update led to complete deletion of outlook calendar entries

Mal-function in out-dated desktop manager software, so downloaded Version 4.7.0.37
Un-eventful installation and synch, but apparently something went wrong and now all entries in my Outlook (2003) Calendar (PC) have been erased; nothing happened to the device entries...
what am I doing wrong here?
Any feedback + suggestions much appreciated!

This same thing happened to me; several folks have tried offering solutions, nothing has worked thus far.  Good luck!

  • Desktop Manager Update- Stuck on "Loading Applications" step

I started to download a desktop manager update and the download has been on step 10 of 12 for almost an hour.  That step of the process is the "loading applications" task.  Is it normal for the update to take this long?  There is a message at the top of te update box warning me not to diconnect my device or I risk damage to the apps and the device.
I am wondering if this is the normal time and how I can prevent damaging the device if it's not normal?  Thanks for the help!

Updates don't usually take this long, so it's possible something may have gone wrong.  Do you know what the update was for?  If you're with Sprint, it may have been upgrading the operating system on your phone, but other than that, I'm not sure why it would be doing that.
If you still need additional help, please post back and include your carrier name and if you know it, the operating system version that was installed on the phone.  And let us know what, if any, messages are displayed on the phone and/or computer.

  • Desktop 6.0 trying to delete all my Outlook calendar entries

Since upgrading to 6.0, I've had nothing but trouble.  First it was a strange error and this forum recommended that I look for East Asian characters or skipped e-mail addresses or images that were not the acceptable BB size in all of my contacts.  I spent hours reviewing all my contacts one by one and that fixed nothing.  I've deleted the software a ridiculous number of times, wiped the Torch several times.  Finally, I figured out on my own that I had to look for a calendar entry that was causing the unknown problem.  Now, after all this wasted time, all I want to do is sync my device to my Outlook calendar, but the software wants to delete all my Outlook entries.  Thank goodness I was paying attention and rejected the changes.  So now I can't sync again and have no where to turn to but this forum.  Why can I not get any qualified technical support???  I spent enough money on this device, why can't someone help me fix the problems that BB has created.  I want to throw this device out the window!

First, I deleted all my calendar entries from the BB, then I changed the calendar sync settings to one-way, Outlook to device.  I ran the sync and everything moved over to the device.  At that point, I completed a backup and went back in and changed the settings back to two-way.
Then, the following day, I connected the device and tried to sync again but the the software wanted to delete all or most all of my Outlook calendar entries again.  So I rejected the sync and stopped.
    Any thoughts?

  • I tried to sync Outlook 2011 with iCloud and it deleted all my calendar entries and now are only on iCloud and I cant figure out how to export them back to Outlook. Can anyone help me?

I signed up for iCloud today and tred to sync my Outlook 2011 calendar with it. At first, all the entries were completely deleted from Outlook but were still in iCal. Then I attempted to export my iCal events, turn off iCloud for calendars and import the iCal info to Outlook. But since it was only synced through iCloud nothing imported... now all my Outlook info is only on iCloud.. can anyone help me get it back on Outlook?

Hi Khuram1981 - thank you thank you thank you!  All sorted!  dont suppose you know how to fix another problem I have??? for weeks now, since updating to ios5 I think, for some reason every time I have tried to log onto app store it says CANNOT CONNECT TO ITUNES STORE.  It's nothing to do with my computer, and I've been to the Geniius bar but they couldnt help and nothing I seem to do lets me update my Apps and even worse, I cant even buy any more.  Any suggestions?
Again thank you SO much for helping with other problem = a real relief.

  • Desktop Manager Updated to ver. 5.0 - why is Device Manager tray icon "exit" greyed out?

Just updated to Desktop Manager 5.0
    Blackberry Device Manager 4.7.1.11
    BBDevMgr 4.1.0.11
    Rim USB Driver 4.1.0.4
    Rim USB Serial Driver 2.2.0.3
Before with previous version Device Manager tray icon would go away after disconnecting BB.
Now Device Manager tray icon does not go away after disconnecting BB and when right-clicking on it "exit" is greyed out - what's up with that? Is this by design? Why can't I get rid of the tray icon when disconnected?

Here's something bizarre. I have also been syncing contacts, calendars and tasks for a long time with my Storm. After downloading the Desktop 7.0 I also saw the Calendar as not available. I don't particularly remember seeing Memo as an option but I also selected it this time around as I was going through the old reload the os, restore, etc. Anyway I did a test adding an appointment to my Outlook calendar then ran the sync for contacts, tasks and memos and amazingly it shows on my Storm's calendar. Not sure how comfortable I am in depending on this but you might try and place an appointment on Outlook's calendar, run the sync and see if it shows up on your cell's calendar. Strange but it is working for me.

  • Desktop Manager update? Naah!

Hi - I hope that somebody may be able to help me.
I am using what I believe to be the updated version of Desktop Manager ie. Version 1.0.3 (build 19).
It allows me to back up and restore however when I click the applications button in order to
load some new software get a message saying a newer version is required in order to update my device software.
If I hit download it just times out. When I check my Desktop Manager for updates, it tells me that I have the most up to date version.
My unit is an 8520 with v.5.0.0.592 and my Mac is OS X 10.6.3
Are there any Mac-heads out there who can tell me what the problem is? Please try - I see so many posts without replies - hope mine isnt one of them!
    Thanks
    Platski

I was having the same issue (in addition to my browser not working for the last few days, which is why I plugged in in the first place).  I tried the Applications -> Download -> Restart method several times, stuck on Build 19 every time. After coming here and seeing that it worked for someone I gave it one more go, and VOILA! Build 23. No idea why it didnt work the first three times, but I'm now good.
I guess my advice is the same as Jimmy V's: "Don't give up, don't ever give up."

  • Desktop manager update and two phones

The wife and I both have8320 Curves. I synced my phone to the desktop manager last year she did not. Today I downloaded an upgrade for the phone software and the desktop manager. Now my phone has the new software and the manager has a new look but how do I get the new version of desktop manger to look and my wife’s phone? To install the upgrade to the phone it has to go through desktop manager but it will only see my phone. How can I change the pin# to the one for her phone?
    Anyone?
    Thanks for any help
     Gary

If all you're looking to do is to upgrade your wife's OS, you can run the Loader application by itself.
Click Start --> Run, and enter this (WITH QUOTES):
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe"
If you've installed Desktop Manager 4.7 you shouldn't even need to install the OS for the device.  The latest version (and possibly 4.6) will retrieve a list of carriers, the devices they support, and the latest OS available from them automatically, and if Loader determines that a newer version is available it will automatically download it and install it.
If you're not using Desktop Manager 4.7 or 4.6, you'll need to either upgrade DM or download and install the OS from the carrier.

  • Desktop manager 7.1 fails to restore Contacts and Calendar from backups

Today I discovered that I lost my contact and calendar lists on my playbook after upgrading to OS version 2.1.0.1032.
As a precaution I backed up my device data and apps using desktop manager 7.1 and used windows explorer to duplicate my media folder using the Z:drive option before I started the OS upgrade.
Since I learned how to deal with lost device data and apps on my BB smart phone I was confident that I could apply this knowledge to my Playbook too, just in case something happened.
Well, something happened. My PlayBook backup file became a trap even so the desktop manager manual said: “To restore all your smartphone data or tablet data, click All device data and settings.”
If one ‘thinks’ the phone learning curve can be applied to the Playbook one is doomed as I found out today. The PlayBook backup function for the contact and calendar listing behaves differently than for the BB phone. There is no warning in Desktop Manager 7.1 which says: “This backup file excludes contact and calendar data files which were manually built by the user and are not part of a synced email server”.
So this posting is about letting other users know to be aware of some OS 2.1.0.1032 short comings. If your contact and/or calendar list was manually built, i.e. it was not linked to an email account you might encounter the above issue.
When I noticed that my contact and calendar file did not sync with my email account I started to use my contact list for everything useful to remember not just contacts. There were many extra fields available in the PlayBook contact list which could not be matched with the limited fields found in other synced contact lists. So I built a big ‘Good to Know’ file with all kinds of info hoping that one day I could use it also with BB10.
Unfortunately this OS version wiped my contact and calendar lists which none of the other OS updates were able to do and the ‘Restore’ option via desktop manger 7.1 did not work!!!.  So it looks like some engineering wizard at RIM is trying to upset the non-linked contact list users with this release version.
I hope RIM finds this ‘group of moles(?)' and deals with these engineers before they can do anymore damage. Remember RIM, the object is to enjoy new updates not to fear them. It would be nice if desktop manager 7.2 would alert us users with a warning or lets us export these files via another tip like: “How can I back up contact and calendar files for the PlayBook“. I realize as of today that this problem was with me all along but came only to light after this OS release wiped my 2 lists completely. There is also no hint in the PB or Desktop user manuals!
For the time being I will use only my phone’s contact and calendar lists via the bridge as a work around  but I hope the responsible RIM manager reads this postings and tells his engineers to go forward not backwards. Tell them to include a backup feature for non-linked contact and calendar data in 7.2. Not everybody has linked data files or if this is RIM’s intention then let us users know upfront that one could loose his/her data.
If you ‘liked’ this posting click the ‘Thumb up’ box near by even so this issue has no solution at this point in time. Let’s hope RIM deals with this issue eventually.

  • Outlook and BB - items deleted from outlook calendar not shown as deleted in blackberry?? WHY?

Once meetings are deleted in Outlook they are for some reason still shown as active in my blackberry.  Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can resolve it?
Do i need to resynch them?
    HELP!

From what I remember, for them to be removed from the blackberry, they have to be in the deleted items folder while the phone reconciles, but I might be mistaken.
If you try creating a test calendar item, let the BB pick it up, delete it from outlook leaving the item in the deleted items folder and wait for the phone to reconcile again (or force reconcile now).

  • My iphone 5 deleted my outlook calendars on my laptop.

When I synced my iphone 5 and laptop my iphone deleted a couple of outlook calendars off my laptop. Is there a way to find and restore the deleted calendars?

I don't think i'm using the iCloud.  It tells me I have 5.0 GB Total Storage with 5.0 GB Available.
I'm also looking under the Settings->iCloud but I don't see where it would allow me to turn on iMessages for the iCloud.  Is there somewhere else to look?

  • Bypass Creative Cloud Desktop Manager update

    Hello,
There are current issues with updating the above program due to proxy reasons on our corporate newtwok. Until this is resolved is there a way that the update can be bypassed to enable me to use the manager?
I have followed another post that says to change that name of the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file but it didn't work for me.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards

Looks like I had done all you advised except delete the Adobe Creative Cloud and Application Manager folders under Utilities. I did that and now CC installation is proceeding. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I spent an hour waiting for someone to get to me on Chat and gave up and was not looking forward to calling Adobe tomorrow.

  • Outlook Calendar entries not complete on E72

I am syncing all of my work Outlook with my E72 OK.  Contacts, Mail, and Calendar are used a lot.  But I cannot read all of the text that is pasted in to the detail box in an Outlook Calendar entry on my PC once it has come across to the E72.  The first few lines are fine but the text ends with a series of .... indicating that there is more to read but it is not available to see.  Is there something that I can do?

Doesn't anyone know the answer to this issue? It seems a quite strange and stupid bug in the software so i cannot believe this cannot be solved in an Apple.
    Thanks.

  • Iphone4 has deleted all past calendar entries?

I keep a lot of info on my phone's calendar and when I went to go back to reference something, the entire calendar, excepting some of September and all of October, was blank.
Where did my data go, and why?
    Can I recover this info?
    Help - and, thanks.

If your calendar entries are stored somewhere on a server (i.e. iCloud, Google etc.) Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars >  scroll down to Calendars section and change settings for "Sync" (you may chose All events" or "6 months back".

  • Can I get hold of the setup file for an earlier version of Desktop Manager

    Hello,
I've been using my Blackberry Bold 9700 trouble free for well over 18 months now.  The other day I was prompted to upgrade the OS to level 6, which I did with no problem.  I then noticed that there was also an upgrade for the Desktop Manager software.  I also upgraded this (to version 6).  I'm now really wishing I hadn't....
Ever since the upgrade I get the BSOD upon initially connecting my BB.  I uninstalled the desktop manager and did a complete reinstall.  This, if anything made matters worse as I then found that any USB device would cause the BSOD once I plugged it in.
The only way I've been  able to solve this is by totally uninstalling the Desktop Manager and then also going and uninstalling and then reinstalling all the USB controllers from the Windows device manager.
All I really need the desktop manager for is to tether my BB to get internet acces when I'm off site, and I'd really like to go back to the earlier version but cannot find anywhere to download the setup file.
I'm running XP Pro by the way.  It's obviously an incompatibility with something on specifically on my laptop which is causing the problem.  I tried installing Desktop Manager 6 onto another laptop running XP Pro and it seems to be fine on there.  I've not really got the time to mess around with this much more though so would prefer just to downgrade back to the previous version on this laptop if someone could point me in the right direction to get hold of the setup file.
    Many thanks.

  • Desktop Manager for Mac and Calendars

    Hi there,
I installed this software on 10.6.1 and updated my software version on my Curve 8330 as well.  No problems there.  I like to use GMail on my BB and see that I now have three calendars showing up.  One is my phone provider, then my Mac account and also, after installing the Enhanced GMail application on the BB, I now have a GMail calendar.  There are no entries in this calendar and I'd like to know if it's possible to sync this calendar with the Desktop Manager software as well as syncing my Mac calendar to my desktop.  I know that you cannot install the Google Sync software on the BB when you already have another sync package installed, so I'm wondering how and if it is possible to also sync the Google data to the BB.
Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated.
