Desktop Manager v4.3 - Unable to Hide When Minimized...

On the older versions I've had, I  used to be able to just have it sit on the Task Tray when minimized.  Now it is always open on my Task Bar.  Any ideas if this option is still available?
Unable to find it hiding anywhere...

not having the blackberry desktop hide when minimized feature means lots of support calls for us as users are unable to sync their internet edition blackberries with outlook calendar and address book.  why, becuse the applicaiton is usually closed instead of minimized and left running.  when we configure desktops we have the blackberry desktop software start minimized with the hide when minimized option turned on... the user would have to go out of their way to open the desktop manager and close it - now it start with windows taking up a big chunk of the screen and the users immidately click on the x to make it go away and then find they can't sync their blackberry when they try later.  i get that this is not an issue to enterprise/exchange server users so perhaps blackberry just dosen't care, but as someone that supports lots of small business i have to say that this is a serious annoyance and creates a negitive experiance around the product that ultimately results in people looking for alternatives (like the iphone that everyone wants these days anyway).  this is strike two for blackberry recent 'improvements'.  the other is the autoreply of read receipts requests that can not be turned off and reveals my users actualy blackberry email address in the header when we have the address masked to appear to have been sent from the company email address.  there seems to be either deliberate sabatoge against small business customers of blackberry internet devices or a growing carelessness of their design team.  either way this will certainly hurt them.  becuase of the read receipt problem i already have one client that is going to switch away from bb when their vendor contracts are up... not they have another reason to jump ship.

  • Desktop Manager not working with Windows 7 - Error message received Not Responding

    Hello
The issue of not connecting with desktop manager started in May 2012. When I plug phone into computer I can see files. USB works fine as I am also able to use all ports with other usb items. I downloaded the latest download manager again today January 14, 2013 and again the desktop manager says non responsive and program will not start. I have windows 7 and the desktop manager did work in April 2012 with this computer (windows 7). Help with a solution would be great.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

  • BlackBerry desktop manager issue

I just got a BB Storm today.  Installed the BB desktop manager on my computer.  However, when I click on the desktop mamanger icon to get started, I get the message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BlackBerry 8130.msi' in the box below."  I am not sure what to do next.  Help!

Did you try ALL the clean uninstall steps? If not try ALL of them and then rebooting to see if you can install the newer version of the Desktop Manager.
If so and it's still not working try to install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the Desktop Manager then try again - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

  • Desktop Manager generates 0x00000043 fatal error

I was directed to upgrade the latest version of Desktop manager (5.1.0.28).
When loading the Desktop manager and updating my programs the process of updating works smoothly if I only select the application I want to update (example GOTag).
When I select to update to the latest System software (4.6.1.313) and Core Applications then during the process of updating when Desktop Manager displays that it is "load jvm and system software".
Device Manager then generates and "Error" message:
"A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again.
this system software is not designed for the connected device[A:0x00000043]"
    The device is a Sprint/nextel 8350i.
Can I get around this error or should I just not update the BB System Software?
    Any help is appreciated.

I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Desktop Manager resets my homescreen image

I have an image that is stored on the device memory, not a memory card, and every time I sync with my computer, it resets it back to the standard AT&T background.
Is there a way to stop this?  It's annoying to have to change my background back every time I sync.
Also, how do I enable bluetooth sync with Desktop Manager?  It's greyed out when I try to click the box.
    Thanks...

    Hi adg44
The picture in the background is changed because you have the picture stored in the device, move it to the memory card and you solve the problem.
Read this link to sync using bluetooth.

  • Desktop Manager - Media Manager - Crash

Desktop Manager seems to work fine. When I access Media Manager the app crashes.
    Desktop Mgr 5.0.0.11
    Windows7 x86
    whats the fix/workaround?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Windows7? I don't think that DTM and MM are yet certified for that platform... So, there are no official RIM KB's on the matter just yet. I seem to recall other posts here somewhere that talked about some sort of compatibility mode in Win7? Not having it myself, I've no idea...but you might try some searches in these forums to see if it's been discussed (I think it has).

Desktop Manager - contacts sync from Entourage but when I add a new contact, it won't sync the other way.  I have all teh Sync options set in Entourage as per the instructions.
    what am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem with getting new calendar appointments from my 8530 Curve into Entourage (on Mac OS x v. 10.6.3). They go into iCal. I have Entourage sync preferences set to sync with iCal, and I have Desktop Manager advanced sync options set for events created on the device to go to Entourage - but they don't. I have "merge data" and two-way syncing set.   It works fine syncing from Entourage to my BB.
How can I get data added on my BB to go directly into Entourage?
    Thanks.

I have a related question:  I am able to synchronize my BB with Outlook Contacts and Calendar using Desktop Manager 4.5.0.138.  When configuring the settingings the choices are Two-Way, Device-to-Outlook, or Outlook-to-Device.  I chose Two-Way.  But then it adds all contacts, even those I deleted on Outlook or the BB Device.
Here's my question:  Is there a way to configure DM to keep the latest change (whether addition or deletion), rather than simply add them all together (even the 300 I took time to delete)?
During the sync process when it detects changes it asks me to select whether to keep the data either on Outlook or the BB Device, but I can't always remember which was the latest change, and it does not seem to offer Latest Change as a default option.  Surely it should!

  • Desktop manager for Boost Mobile 8530 smartphone...help?

I have the BB 8530 from Boost Mobile but the desktop manager will not detect the device when connected to USB port. I am running Vista Home Prem (64-bit). I have installed Desktop Manager v5.0.0 to no success. Vista does not seem to recognize the device at all or at least not getting anykind of notification that I plugged it in. Do I need to install device drivers for the BB?? I thought DM would have them included?? I am trying to change the language on the device to spanish from english and was told it had to be done through Desktop manager.
    Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Is there any change when you try connecting with a different USB port or cable? How is the BlackBerry listed in Windows Device Manager? This article should help getting your device recognized by the computer. http://bbry.lv/iexxQb

  • Desktop Manager Doesn't Recognize My Phone

I've recently upgraded my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7, and on my original XP machine, I had DTM installed and it worked just fine with my Bold 9000. On my new Windows 7 machine, I've downloaded Desktop Manager 6.0, installed it, but when I plug in my phone into the computer, the Summary page in DTM still says "Connect your BlackBerry device". I know my computer recognizes my BB, because I can see it listed as 2 drives under My Computer (BB and my removable memory card). How can I get DTM to recognize my phone?

Hi There, I have a similar problem with my 9105. DM does not see my device. I have tried so many things that I am reaching the point where I go back to Windows Mobile. To make matters worse I paid for the Documents To Go upgrade so that I could sync my docs but that to can not see the device either. On the PC (XP) under device manager it shows as connected. And also as further below. Desperate

  • BB recognized by computer & Desktop Manager, but does not connect?

All right, I've scoured these forums and can't figure this out. Tell me if I've missed something.
Blackberry is recognized by my computer AND by Desktop Manager, but does not fully connect so I can sync. I can see it in My Computer, and the Desktop Manager does recognize the model of smartphone when it's plugged in. Both Windows, and Desktop Manager ask me for my password when I connect the USB cord. However, it just says 'connecting' in the bottom right, and never gets past that. When the phone is initially plugged in, the screen goes to the clock (normal), and flashes the 'connection' screen (BB and computer icons connecting with a cord). It flashes that screen twice then goes back to the clock. The Desktop Manager then just keeps trying to connect, until I unplug it. Both the computer and desktop manager recognize when I've unplugged it.
    Running:
    Windows 7, 64bit
    Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35
    Blackberry Tour 9630
This is a new computer. I was running Windows XP with Desktop Manager 6.1.0.35 previously, and it worked no problem, but that is no longer an option.
The goal is to be able to sync with Outlook 2007. Need very badly to be able to do this.
    Did all the simple stuff:
    Oh so many Windows restarts,
Blackberry battery pull, both unplugged and plugged into computer with Desktop Manager running,
    Desktop manager reinstall,
plugged into every different USB port,
    tried a different cord.
    Went deeper:
BB USB drivers fully up to date
Turned OFF USB power management on all my ports in device manager,
    Disabled USB selective suspend setting
Deleted my intellisync folder in appdata/roaming,
    Turned off Windows UAC notifications,
Tried every combination of BB memory compression on and off, or mass storage mode on and off,
There might be more I've tried but don't remember. I've been searching the net for days now.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can try. This is a serious issue for me right now, I need to be able to sync with Outlook 2007.
    Thanks in advance

  • Desktop Manager Will not Load. Hangs on splash screen when loading, then crashes

My desktop manager is not loading, and hangs whenever it is attempted to load. I have done a clean uninstall, removed rim registry entries, and did a fresh download and install 3 times with full shut downs between each attempt. I am running Windows 7 service pack 1 with an HP Laptop. It is an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Product Number LY080UA. I hope that is enough information, but I will give more if asked and informed how to gather such info.
When I right click on the Desktop Manager Icon, I choose to run as Admin. Once it loads the splash screen shows. After a little bit (4-6 seconds) a small Icon appears in my systems tab at the bottom right of my screen. This stays for a little while and then goes away. After this happens the Splash screen hangs, and get a black border around it. If I click on the Splash screen it grey out and says not responding, prompting windows to ask me if I want to wait for the program or close. If I choose to wait, it will sit there and do nothing. If I close it will prompt windows to "look for an error" but has not yet been able to return an answer.
When I log into safe mode, Desktop Manager loads, but does not work well as only a bare bones set of drivers are enabled. If I turn off all but the non-essential services off using services.msc it will load, but again the services needed for it to run and the services for windows to be fully functional are not on at all.
I have attempted to turn off all but the Desktop manager in the start up, using msconfig, but that does not help either.
I am at my wits end here, and would really like some help with this. It loads up (desktop manager) on my Desktop, but I am unable to log that mammoth box around with me while I travel.
Thank you for your time and efforts, I will be very grateful for any and all help.

I'm having the exact same problem here! I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. Please help! This was posted a month ago.

  • Uncaught error java nullpoint exception, email icons disappeared, application loader unable to back up data, desktop manager unable to connect

    Model:  Curve 8900
    Provider: At&t
    Platform: 4.2.0.108
I'm ready to throw this phone in the blender.... if I could only back up my data first. A couple of months ago the What's App application required an update. I updated it and ever since my phone has steadily had more and more issues. First, I kept getting this uncaught error message, shortly thereafter the 2 email accounts (both gmail) that I have linked to the account disappeared. The message icon shows that I have messages, but icons not there (I have tried the show all option). At one point the message icon started exponentially adding the number of messages until it got up to over 86,000. When I reboot the phone it goes back down and then steadily increases again... usually though it's more to 400 - 500 rather then tens of thousands. I have been trying to install updates and do a wipe of the BB so that I can start from scratch, unfortunately the application loader is unable to back up data. The desktop manager is unable to connect to the blackberry and indicates that an upgrade is required. I have tried doing the upgrade both directly from the phone and connected to the desktop manager, but nothing seems to work. If I try to upgrade the software directly from the BB, I get to the start download button and when I click, nothing happens. I have removed all applications except bberry app world and one game that I play, Pixelated Plus. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Do you want to save the messages?
If not (and I think they are the problem) open the Desktop Software > Device > Delete Data and click the "select Data" option. Select the Messages to remove. Complete the prompts and finish.
Then, return to backup the entire device, and see if that is possible to complete this time with no messages.
Now, once the back up is done and you have your data, you can disconnect the device.
Now, use BBSAK to wipe the device and subsequently load the new operating system.
**If you cannot complete the backup again above, you might have to do without it, OR you can use the Desktop Software to sync your Address book, calendar, memos and tasks to Outlook. OR, you can easily install and use BlackBerry Protect to backup your device over the air to RIM servers, then once wiped and the new OS reloaded, you can use Protect to restore the data back to the 8900. << This you should do regardless.
Good luck, post back here as you have questions.

Like most people I have sub folders within Outlook to keep clients and employees separated. I just upgraded to the 8330 from a Dino 7100i. I set up my folders under Email Settings, General, Choose Folders so that I can send email to the device that is important.
The problem is I stop getting email from employees randomly and when I go check the Desktop Manager (DM) the boxes are unchecked. I've never had this problem with the Old BB. The folder structure is only a few deep, meaning: Inbox\Employee\Employee folders that are checked or not checked.

I am also having an issue viewing and editing my Filters.  They are all jammed together.  I have uninstalled the DM completely including all registry entries, recreated my profile in Outlook and reinstalled.  This has done nothing to fix the issue.  I am using DM v4.7, BB 8130 Pearl, Sprint Firmware 4.3.0.203, Outlook 2007 on a Vista Enterprise 32 bit machine.  Anyone have a fix for this issue?
