Desktop Manager v4.7 loads twice on start up

I have just upgraded to Desktop Manager v4.7, having removed the previous version from my PC, running under MS Vista. All appears to work well apart from when I sart up my PC it loads the v4.7 Desktop Manager twice. Can anyone help reduce this to one?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Perhaps there are two shortcuts in your system startup folder.
Click on Start->Programs-> Startup on your Vista
If there are 2 BB Desktop Manager icons - remove one. Select it, right click on mouse button and select "Delete" from popup menu.

  • Desktop Manager Will not Load. Hangs on splash screen when loading, then crashes

My desktop manager is not loading, and hangs whenever it is attempted to load. I have done a clean uninstall, removed rim registry entries, and did a fresh download and install 3 times with full shut downs between each attempt. I am running Windows 7 service pack 1 with an HP Laptop. It is an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Product Number LY080UA. I hope that is enough information, but I will give more if asked and informed how to gather such info.
When I right click on the Desktop Manager Icon, I choose to run as Admin. Once it loads the splash screen shows. After a little bit (4-6 seconds) a small Icon appears in my systems tab at the bottom right of my screen. This stays for a little while and then goes away. After this happens the Splash screen hangs, and get a black border around it. If I click on the Splash screen it grey out and says not responding, prompting windows to ask me if I want to wait for the program or close. If I choose to wait, it will sit there and do nothing. If I close it will prompt windows to "look for an error" but has not yet been able to return an answer.
When I log into safe mode, Desktop Manager loads, but does not work well as only a bare bones set of drivers are enabled. If I turn off all but the non-essential services off using services.msc it will load, but again the services needed for it to run and the services for windows to be fully functional are not on at all.
I have attempted to turn off all but the Desktop manager in the start up, using msconfig, but that does not help either.
I am at my wits end here, and would really like some help with this. It loads up (desktop manager) on my Desktop, but I am unable to log that mammoth box around with me while I travel.
Thank you for your time and efforts, I will be very grateful for any and all help.

I'm having the exact same problem here! I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. Please help! This was posted a month ago.

  • Desktop Manager will not load..help!

Each time I attempt to load the program, it locks up and the new window is shaded in grey.  Cant open any options or click any icons.  I followed the instructions for a clean install (twice) and downloaded the latest version of desktop manager.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  It had been working properly then took a dive out of nowhere...awesome eh?
I am running windows xp-64 bit and I have a bb curve 8310 with ATT.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Since you said you tried a "clean install" (as opposed to clean uninstall), I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • How do I change settings so Blackberry desktop manager doesn't open when I start my computer??

I want the desktop manager to open when I ask it to, or else to open automatically when I connect my phone to the computer by USB.  Currently, it opens when I start my computer.  I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Did you install the software from a CD or download it?
If from the CD, put it back in your drive. When the wizard appears choose the Modify option. Select the BlackBerry Desktop Manager from the 3 choices listed and hit Next. Your going to reselect the same options as you did when you first installed the software, but stop and the last step where you have the 2 checkboxes. You want to uncheck the top one that talks about starting the software when the computer starts
If you just downloaded the software go into Add/Remove Programs, select the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and hit the Change/Remove button. Then just follow the steps above.
    Hope this helps

  • Dreamweaverhelper loads twice when starting Dreamweaver

Should Dreamweaverhelper.exe be loaded twice when launching Dreamweaver CC 2014?   This is happening according to "Windows Task manager".
Is there a fix for this?

What version of SAP-GUI are you using ? SAP-GUI 7.2 (latest version) was heavily rewritten using Visual Studio and SAP has stated that certain features that existed in earlier SAP-GUI versions are no longer available (it's Microsoft's Fault). It is also quite possible that your initial launch macro in Excel is causing the problem.
I would personally recommend that you do NOT launch Bex Analyzer when Excel opens, unless this is  your primary method to interact with Bex workbooks and such. That may resolve your issue.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager won't load applications

    Hi there,
When I connect my Blackberry Curve 9360 to Desktop Manager, it connects fine and everything else works fine too; except when I click on the "Applications" tab, nothing shows up. I'm not able to see any apps or input languages on the screen.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Desktop Manager, syncing my device, backing it up, and I even made sure my Blackberry Appworld account was ok as well as checking if all my apps were running properly.
When I go to Options > Third Party Applications on my Curve, nothing loads there either. I can see my applications on Blackberry App World though.
    Please help.

  • Desktop manager will not start

    Hi all
I am experiencing problems trying to launch desktop manager. Whenever I try to start it I just get the blank start up screen which does nothing until I haver the cursor over it. At this point I am greeted with a "(Not Responding)" message.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times, tried maany different fixes on the forums to no avail.
Does anyone have any new suggestions please.
    Paddy

So if you check under Start | Programs | BlackBerry you don't see Desktop Manager listed? Does it show as being installed under Add/Remove Programs? Also navigate to C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry. See if you have an executable called DesktopMgr.exe. If you double click that does the program open?
Try going into the Task Manager and end any of the the following processes: BbDevMgr.exe, DesktopMgr.exe, RIMDeviceManager.exe. Try to start the program afterwards

  • LaCie desktop manager wont run in lion

    Hi
I have just purchased a new 1TB LaCie D2 Quadra External hard drive and connected it  by Firewire 800 to my 27" iMac.
I am aware of some compatibility issues, and the setup assistant would'nt run on Lion and you have to reformat manually, which I have done.
I then had to download v.1.4.3 of LaCies Desktop manager which has loaded and installed successfully, however when I launch the desktop manager, it says "No LaCie desktop manager compatible device found".
I am in dialogue with LaCie Support but the turnaround is about 1 response a day, and I am keen to sort this out....
Thoughts are that this forum will be far quicker ! !
    Many Thanks

  • Desktop Manager v4.3 - Unable to Hide When Minimized...

On the older versions I've had, I  used to be able to just have it sit on the Task Tray when minimized.  Now it is always open on my Task Bar.  Any ideas if this option is still available?
Unable to find it hiding anywhere...

not having the blackberry desktop hide when minimized feature means lots of support calls for us as users are unable to sync their internet edition blackberries with outlook calendar and address book.  why, becuse the applicaiton is usually closed instead of minimized and left running.  when we configure desktops we have the blackberry desktop software start minimized with the hide when minimized option turned on... the user would have to go out of their way to open the desktop manager and close it - now it start with windows taking up a big chunk of the screen and the users immidately click on the x to make it go away and then find they can't sync their blackberry when they try later.  i get that this is not an issue to enterprise/exchange server users so perhaps blackberry just dosen't care, but as someone that supports lots of small business i have to say that this is a serious annoyance and creates a negitive experiance around the product that ultimately results in people looking for alternatives (like the iphone that everyone wants these days anyway).  this is strike two for blackberry recent 'improvements'.  the other is the autoreply of read receipts requests that can not be turned off and reveals my users actualy blackberry email address in the header when we have the address masked to appear to have been sent from the company email address.  there seems to be either deliberate sabatoge against small business customers of blackberry internet devices or a growing carelessness of their design team.  either way this will certainly hurt them.  becuase of the read receipt problem i already have one client that is going to switch away from bb when their vendor contracts are up... not they have another reason to jump ship.

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 searches for device upgrades

Hi...yesterday, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to upgrade the Desktop Manager from 4.5. I started by upgrading to 4.7and I let it "check for upgrades." When it finished, it found 5.0,so, I upgraded again to 5.0--again, letting it check for upgrades. It found some upgrades that weren't real--and RIM tech support walked me through reinstalling the OS, which also deleted all data on my BB but not the 3rd party apps that were installed. So, I re-entered data and today, I've got things up and running just fine. Also, the Desktop Manager works just fine, synchronizing with Outlook and making backups.
I've begun to find this "checking for updates" behavior annoying, so, I read here and found that I can modify the installation from Add/Remove Programs (I'm using XP, SP3). I made the change (set "check for updates" to "not installed on this computer" and removed the check from the box on the final screen), and then I rebooted the computer.
The "check for updates" link no longer appears in the BB Desktop Manager, BUT, each time I plug in my device, it checks for Device updates. Is there some way to stop this truly annoying behavior? I'm guessing that my actions stopped Desktop Manager from checking for updates to itself but not to the device and I can't find any options to turn off this behavior.
     Thanks!!

Issues are resolved when software is doing something that is not inherent to its purpose.  This is a prime purpose of DTM.
That you don't want it to check for device updates does not constitute it being a software bug/issue.

  • Do I Have To Remove 4.5 Desktop Manager, Too?

Hello. I have been having a common problem. I got an upgrade to Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 and then I started to get Roxio Media Manager continually popping up demanding that I find a file (which I didn't hav) called "Roxio Media Manager.msi" I researched how to get rid of that annoying popup from Roxio and find that I had to deinstall my Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 in order to make the Roxio demands go away.
However, I have a copy of Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.5 which seemed to work well, still on my computer. I did deinstall 5.0 Desktop Manager, so far I have not had any intrusions from Roxio.
If I were to go through the routine that is written in the DOC ID KB02206 (How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software) I would have to follow up with a painful and scary routine involving my registry, not something I relish. However, that would get rid of all the Desktop Managers and the software associated with Blackberry and Roxio in my computer.
    So, my questions are:
Do I have to deinstally 4.5 version of Desktop Manager?
Can I still run my Blackberry on 4.5 Desktop Manager if I have the OS version 4.5.0.124 on my Blackberry?
If I have to deinstall 5.0 and 4.5, what shall I install by way of a Desktop Manager for my Blackberry and where shall I look for this?
Has the problem associated with the Roxio Media Manager been solved? If I reinstall 5.0 (or higher) will I get the same problems?
I am using the OS version 4.5.0.124 on my Blackberry, I have Windows XP Pro installed on my computer.
Thanks for your help in this.

Maybe...if things are acting funky, it is a good idea to do the clean uninstall and then a clean install.
Fabienne wrote:Can I still run my Blackberry on 4.5 Desktop Manager if I have the OS version 4.5.0.124 on my Blackberry?
Probably...I normally recommend that one have a version of DTM that is at least as new as the device OS version. So, in your case, DTM 4.5 = OS 4.5.0.124. But, you'd be missing out on all of the fixes that have come since DTM 4.5.
Fabienne wrote:If I have to deinstall 5.0 and 4.5, what shall I install by way of a Desktop Manager for my Blackberry and where shall I look for this?
The biggest dependency on DTM version comes from if you are synching via USB tether (or BT). Different versions of DTM are compatible with different versions of PIM's...see this matrix:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
Once you've chosen your appropriate DTM version, you can obtain it from here:

Fabienne wrote:Has the problem associated with the Roxio Media Manager been solved? If I reinstall 5.0 (or higher) will I get the same problems?
Media Manager remains problematic (slows the system, sometimes causes strange things to happen). But I use it quite infrequently, so can't speak to specifics. I do know that the update to DTM 5.0.1 that I received yesterday included a replacement for MM, so perhaps some things have been fixed (though time will tell). You can, from the above link, select a version of DTM that excludes MM if you don't need it at all...that's usually the best way to go if one does not need MM.

  • Proper Procedure for Remote Desktop Manager

We are a small company with our BB Enterprise running on our servers in Kansas where our IT guy lives. We operate in our remote locations using Citrix app servers. No employees work out of Kansas. Therefore we send our BB units to Kansas by FedEx anytime we need to update software, synch, or to initiate a new model BB. The Desktop Manager software is loaded on our server, etc.
Here is my question: Operationally, we need to have Desktop Manager loaded on our remote computers in order to charge the BB handhelds and transfer files or load applications. I realize we cannot synch to our Outlook program or Exchange as Citrix doesn't seem to have an answer for this. What is the best way to do this? Is there a Web located Desktop Manager that all employees can use or is it best to have each employee load the Desktop Software on their own PC or laptop.
Any advice would be highly appreciated...thanks
