Desktop Manager version for Storm 9530

Hi Everyone. Just got my BB Storm. Just curious which version of Desktop Manager should I download. I saw Desktop Manager 5.0 and 4.7. My Storm shows version 4.7.0.148. Does mean I have to download and install DM v4.7 or should I go with DM v5.0? Sorry if this has been answered before but can't find the topic for it.
Thanks,
coolzero

Excellent...you found the answer. The version of DTM and the version of the device OS are not linked. Good find!

  • Desktop Manager program for Blackberry 7290 to sync to MacBook Pro

I just bought a new MacBook Pro computer.  I am trying to sync my trusty old Blackberry 7290 but can not find a Desktop Manager program that works.  Can anyone help me find the correct program to load so I can sync my Blackberry with my Mac?
    Thank you very much

The device doesn't meet the minimum requirements then. Your Mac OS version can be found by clicking the Apple symbol in the top left corner then choosing About This Mac. The BlackBerry OS version can be found under Options | About. I either of those is less that what's listed in the KB article then you won't be able to use DM for the Mac.
Before Desktop Manager was available for the Mac people used PocketMac.

  • Can I use Bluetooth to sync Blackberrry Bold diary and contacts with Desktop Manager (versions 6 or 7)?

I have successfully set up a Bluetooth connection with my PC.  Can anyone tell me it is possible with either (or both) versions of the Desktop Manager software?  (i.e. update all info without need for a cable connection using a Blackberry Bold 9900)
    Many thanks!
    Clive

    Manual device OS upgrade instructions:
    1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    2. Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion and unplug BlackBerry. Get DM here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    3. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    5. This step is not needed unless there is an issue on next steps. Use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to step 6
    6. remove internet connection to PC and reboot PC.
    7. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file was in.
    8. if you did Step 5, restore from back up. Follow this KB if needed http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10339
    Enjoy the new OS.

  • Problem with Desktop Manager version 6

use a BlackBerry Curve 9300. I am having great difficulty downloading and running the version 6 Desktop Software. The software itself seems to downlaod quite successfully in about 30 minutes and a Desktop icon appears on my computer desktop. Each time I double click to open - run the programme an error message comes up as Follows"Desktop manager has encounterted a problem and needs to Close"sorry for the inconvenience etc.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the programme more than once to no avail and I just cannot get the programme to run.
I have seen a post/ posts where it was suggested that the way round this was to go into programe manager- locate and delete the folder" Research in  motion" I have tried doing this- the folder is deleted it goes into the recycle bin and there is therefore no program to be opened- so something is not right here- maybe I am not reading the advice correctly.
Would appreciate adny help , advice and support from my experienced users in this community as it is very frustrating not to be able to run the the Desktop software.

    Hey Oscarfabricant,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What version of Windows are you using?  Is it 64-bit?
Also for the uninstall I would suggest performing all the steps in this article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Then download Desktop Software from www.blackberry.com/desktop and install it.  Restart and then to run the application.

  • Desktop Manager version 6 - TOTAL CRASH

I have just bought a new laptop (Sony Vaio running Windows 7 and Microsoft Outlook 2010).
I am using the Blackberry 8900 Curve with  Vodafone.
Like everyone else, I could not synchronise my blackberry with Outlook 2010 and was told to wait until August for version 6 of Desktop Manager.
I just installed it!     But when I tried to launch Desktop Manager is simply says "Blackberry desktop software has stopped working.  Windows is checking for  a solution to the problem" and then I get  "  Blackberry desktop software has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
I un-installed and reinstalled.  No change.
Prior to downloading version 6 I had  downloaded and installed version 5 with Service Pack  - the file name was 501_b049_multilanguage.  That  one installed and launched but there was NO WAY to synchronise Blackberry Curve 8900 with Outlook 2010!
My PC is brand new and "TOTALLY CLEAN" of any special install.  The only application running on this laptop other than Microsoft Windows 7 (32 bit)  and Microsoft Office 2010 (including Outlook 2010) are McAfee (which I disabled to ensure this was not the reason desktop  manager  would not work!) and an HP all in one printer!
IT HAS BEEN A WHOLE MONTH since Microsoft launched Outlook 2010, not sure what the issue is but both Desktop Manager 5 and Desktop Manager 6 have VERY SERIOUS ISSUES which should have been screened through QA.   HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED ALL THESE ISSUES???

Hi and welcome to the forums!
In previous versions of desktop manager the unexpected close conditions were usually associated with the lack of administration rights (Vista) or the User Account Control  settings in Windows 7.
The third leading cause especially with laptops were either using a docking bay or the power management settings  interfering with the USB control.
As you are using the supported 32 bit Outlook 2010, I suggest that the problem may be due a connectivity issue. We can document this with Kb05143 listed below.
I would also verify that the version of NET Framework installed on your PC.
When you removed and re-installed the desktop manager did you use the clean reload procedure?
I would suggest it if we cannot find the problem through logging.
    Thanks,

  • Desktop Manager Version 5

Does anyone know why I would lose the Media Manager feature on my Desktop Manager when it upgraded from Version 4.7 to Version 5.0.  I had the other functions, but not the Media Manager. Thank you for your help.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Media Manager is a function of a completely different installation package. If you want MM, then you shoud DL the version with MM and install that:

  • New BlackBerry Desktop Manager software for Mac

Let me know if there is a better "BlackBerry" forum to ask these questions -- but just wondering if this software will backup Address Book on my Mac to my BlackBerry without erasing everything I've already entered into the Blackberry by hand the past 2 years...
...also we have the Enterprise (corporate account) BlackBerry license (BB 8820) - if I use the newly released BlackBerry Desktop Manager software will that make a real mess of things or is it compatible.
Thanks for any comments or references to other forums or such. I come here because everything I've done with computers since 1989 is MAC - and this is a great discussion site-- and yet my latest job is using BB's... (and most others are on PC's...)

As far as screwing things up, mine went fine. There were some comments about problems. If you go to crackberry. com, there is a Mac users area, under Forums/Blackberry Operating Systems and Desktop Managent.

  • Desktop Manager asks for "insert BB device software updater disk"

When open DM (v 5.0) a message "insert BB device software updater disk" for a file named "ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade[1].msi". I cant find it....help needed....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK. Can you uninstall 5.0 first. Next download and save the DM 5.0 exe file somewhere on your computer. Instead of double-clicking the file to install it, first extract the contents of the file to a folder on your computer. You can use any zipping program (i.e.. Winzip, Winrar, 7-zip) to right click the EXE file and choose Extract To. On my computer I created a folder called "Desktop Manager" and extracted all of the contents into that. Now you can go into the folder that contains the extracted contents and run the "BlackBerrySetup.exe" file to install the software.
If you just double click on the EXE file then the software extracts all required files to a temporary folder on your computer. After the installation is complete then the temporary files get deleted. So the main benefit to doing it above is that all of the installation files will always be located in a folder on your computer. So if you ever have to reinstall, repair, or find an MSI file that the program needs you don't have to download the software again.
Let me know if that works out.

  • Setting BB Pearl Flip clock to network? Desktop Manager asks for an update to languages.

The Flip looks appears to require manual time adjustment rather than pulling the date and time information from the local network, either by setting it through options on the clock function, or through the Options - Date & Time menu.
My Desktop Manager keeps asking, when launched, an update to the same Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish languages.  How do I turn it off?

I'll try to answer to some of your questions.
