Desktop Manager Wont Work !!!

Desktop manager is installed and when you open the program it appears to launch but then I get an error box saying its stopped working and to close the program.....can anyone help with this...or point me in the direction of a fix for this....its really frustrating as I want to load some pictures onto my phone and cant.....

First, you need administrator privileges on the machine. Then when you install you need to right click on the .exe file and select "Run as Administrator."
I would do a clean uninstall using this:
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
Then reinstall using the "run as administrator" method.

  • Desktop Manager not working with Windows 7 - Error message received Not Responding

    Hello
The issue of not connecting with desktop manager started in May 2012. When I plug phone into computer I can see files. USB works fine as I am also able to use all ports with other usb items. I downloaded the latest download manager again today January 14, 2013 and again the desktop manager says non responsive and program will not start. I have windows 7 and the desktop manager did work in April 2012 with this computer (windows 7). Help with a solution would be great.

Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

  • Desktop Manager Not Working After Security Wipe

I had to do a security wipe on my Tour to fix a problem I was having with the Bluetooth on my phone (which surpisingly worked!).  However, now when I try to sync my phone with my computer, Desktop Manager has a problem.  When the program gets to synching my calendar, Desktop Manager stops working.  The screen goes white, and I get a message saying that it has stopped working.  I tried clicking the Debug button, but it didn't do or tell me anything.  It seems to fail when it gets to item 26 of 191 in my calendar (from the status bar that appears when synching), but I have no idea what that item is.  Any ideas as to why this is now happening or how I get figure out what calendar item might be causing the problem?  Thanks.

    Interesting!
May have to hop on the mobile network if possible.. I'm not sure if you can register over WiFi with you being in a different country, but we can try a few steps.

    1. From the device go to Options
    2. Select Advanced Options
    3. Select Host Routing Table

  • Spaces headaches - anyone get virtue or desktop manager to work in Leopard?

I'd been using "desktop manager" in Tiger and while it had its annoyances (minimize then maximize required to move windows between desktops), it didn't interfere with my work the way Spaces does. The app partitioning concept doesn't work for me -- I want task partitioning and some of my different tasks require the same app.
I tried to get Virtue Desktop and Desktop Manager to work today but no luck. They both behave very oddly with Spaces on or off. Interestingly, Desktop Manager behaves better with Spaces "on" in that with Spaces "off", I can't even create new windows in other desktops if the application is opened elsewhere.
Anyway, I know there's a non-free desktop manager out there -- has anyone tried it with Leopard? Or are there other solutions people are using to effectuate task partitioning?

I tried the wrong "You Control Desktops" in my first post about it. The one to try with Leopard is here:
    http://www.yousoftware.com/beta/
Chose the 1.3 b5 application -- the "You Control 1.6" is some kind of menu system -- not a multiple desktop application.
Anyway, the 1.3 beta has some issues too.
    With Spaces ON:
I ssh'd into another machine with an X11 terminal, then launched a second terminal from my SSH session, and then launched two application from each of the terminals. For the most part, interaction was as one would expect. A couple times, my terminal's became hard to touch -- clicking on the title bar of the window sometimes helped, and clicking back and forth between windows also sometimes did the trick. Sometimes it takes some combination of zooming back for all the spaces and/or using expose to be able to interact with an application. Moving the child X11 windows to other desktops was problematic -- clicking a window would shoot me off to other Desktops -- but it may be possible to figure out what is going on with a little trial and error.
    With Spaces OFF:
No problem switching between X11 child windows (after SSH'ing into another machine, launching a second terminal window and then launching apps from both windows). However, it isn't possible to move X11 or any of it's children windows to other desktops. Mac apps will switch windows by dragging them to the side of the screen, but none of the X11 windows would do this -- not even the original terminal window. Plus, you can't use the old workaround of minimizing on one Desktop and maximizing on another -- the X11 windows stay on the desktop from which they were first launched. Period. Starting a second X11 terminal in another desktop and then starting a second concurrent SSH session, made it impossible to reliably interact with any windows launched from the first X11 terminal.
Anyway, for $30 to buy You Control Desktops -- I'm inclined to just get VMware, assign it to a desktop, and run Ubuntu in it. That would give me a usable interface with multiple desktops (on the one "Space"), but it adds another login to wade through -- which is also less than ideal.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager wont start

    I am SOOOO frustrated.
I have installed the BB Desktop Manager software (never installed or used it before) and it has downloaded fine but it just wont open!! No errors, just nothing. Am getting really frustrated.
    Any ideas?

I am not sure I understand - are these instructions you have seen/been given?
What is the context for your post? I have an issue with DM 6.02 and Windows 7 which is that DM just won't start, the only workaround I have found is to downgrade to 5.0.1 which is not ideal but does seem to work. It worked fine on XP but when I switched to Windows 7 it installed fine but then would not start up.

  • Blackberry desktop manager wont detect blackberry

i have looked everywhere for a solution to my problem and i simply cannot find a fix. my blackberry curve 8520 wont connect to my desktop manager. i have tried everything i could think of however nothing has proven successful.
here is what i have so far done:
    -reinstalled desktop manager
-installed latest update for desktop manager
    -installed drivers for blackberry
    -checked usb cable and ports
-made sure desktop manager was set to usb
-pulled the battery on the blackberry (power cycled)
    -restarted my computer
i believe this is everythign i have currently tried, i am running 64x ultimate windows 7 and my computer does recognise that a blackberry is put in as everytime i do so a ballon at the bottom om my screen says a blackberry has been detected and gives it a drive name and such. it is also charging which ensures enough power is being delievered to the blackberry. i do not have another computer to try the desktop manager on. if anyone has a fix to this issue please respond asap as help would be very much appreciated.

  • Desktop manager wont find Phone thru blue tooth

    I need help.
When I try to connect my phone using blue tooth to the desktop manager (4.6.0.1.2), it doesnt recognize it. In the options menu the blue tooth boxes are not accessable to check. I paired up my phone with my computer and that worked using the pass key where you type in the code in your phone then your computer. It then says connecting to local service then installing modem and the blue tooth icon illuminates next to the computer time briefly then goes out. I bypass the advanced modem settings screen and it wants me to add a dial up number, name and password. As I do not wish to use my phone as the internet connection I click finish. My 8700 now shows in the window along with my mouse and headset. When I try to connect my phone it attempts to connect by saying opening port then it trys to dial by using the *99 and non existant name and password. I then get the error message. With all this said, is there any way to just connec my phone without it trying to dial up first?
Note: it does connect thru the usb cable just fine.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You won't be able to transfer pictures and media through the desktop manager. It's main functions are backing up and syncing to Outlook yahoo, for contacts calendar etc. You can however sync through Bluetooth. (native drivers only)
    here is the link:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/dynamickc.do?externalId=KB04132&sliceId=SAL_Public&command=show&forwa...
As far as media is concerned the quickest, most efficient, and easiest way is to plug the USB into the PC and BB
(IF you have a MEDIA CARD in the BB), it will come up as a flash drive under windows explorer.
Then you simply drag and drop your media to the card. In Bluetooth transfer, the BB takes only one file
at a time, which is why I suggest the USB able.
There is a media Sync program that is very stable, and is a stand alone system here is the link:

  • Desktop Manager Not Working

My desktop manager (DM) version 4.2 on my PC Vista is not working right.  I can open it and connect to my Sprint
8703e, but that is very little that I can do with my DM such as opening help.  The backup and restore option along with other options are no longer available in my DM.  What happened to these options?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks, John!  I updated my DM 4.2 to 4.3, but unfortunately when I did that, my OS 4.2.1.110 was automatically uninstalled so I had to install OS: 4.2.1.119.  Wow! there is a big difference between DM 4.2 and 4.3.  DM 4.3 showed updates so I clicked on that and found that there are other DM 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7.  I assume that they are for other Blackberry devices.  John, can you explain what are the other versions for?  I am sure that others would like to know.  While I am happy with DM 4.3, but I am curious to what will happen if I download the later versions for my Sprint 8703e?
Yes, you answered my question in the other forum, but I am asking again in this forum to give you credit and users of this forum may not use the other forum.

  • LaCie desktop manager wont run in lion

    Hi
I have just purchased a new 1TB LaCie D2 Quadra External hard drive and connected it  by Firewire 800 to my 27" iMac.
I am aware of some compatibility issues, and the setup assistant would'nt run on Lion and you have to reformat manually, which I have done.
I then had to download v.1.4.3 of LaCies Desktop manager which has loaded and installed successfully, however when I launch the desktop manager, it says "No LaCie desktop manager compatible device found".
I am in dialogue with LaCie Support but the turnaround is about 1 response a day, and I am keen to sort this out....
Thoughts are that this forum will be far quicker ! !
    Many Thanks

  • Desktop Manager Wont Backup Word Substitution

I'm using Desktop Manager 6 with OS6, and my Desktop Manager won't backup my Word Substitution list (formerly called autotext in OS5).  I have about 200 of the word substitution entires in my phone, but when i try to back them up, the desktop manager only shows that I have 3 entries.  There's no error message or anything, it just shows 3 entries, when I know i have at least 200.  Anyone know how to fix this? I really dont want to have to re-enter 200 entries manually if I ever need to restore my phone.  Thanks

It seems a little silly that it cant be backed up since it's clearly in the list of applications you can choose when you click on customized backup.  If it can't be done, why even put it there in the first place?? I dont have any blackberries with OS5 still on it, but the method you described is exactly how i got my old autotext list onto OS6, I restored my last OS5 backup and then added all the updates manually.  I'm trying to figure out a way to save the word substitution list as a memo (which can be backed up) but I dont want to copy and paste each entry individually, so it loks like i'm out of luck on this one...
Thanks for your input tho )
