Desktop Messenger 5.0.1 Application Loader a wreck
I love my new Storm2, but the DM 5.0.1 Application Loader seems to be in a useless state of wreckage. I am being asked to update the 5.0 Core apps, which I have already done. It is trying to remove Blackberry Messenger 4.7, which was long ago replaced by BM 5.0. Now it insists on downgrading or removing my purchased version of Documents To Go 2.0. Yes, I have the newest version (before someone even brings it up). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix the App Loader!!!
Solved!
Go to Solution.
It really isn't an issue of the app loader as much as it is a problem of it seeing the applications on your desktop as newer, for the OS you have installed. Yes, it doesn't make much sense, I agree.
For you DocsToGo, search across your entire c: hard drive for documentstogo.alx and delete any instance of it.
For the BBMessenger, my experience is that app loader will indicate it is about to delete the BBMessenger , but it won't. It is saying that the BBMessenger it sees will not be loaded, due to the BBM v5 on the device, and since it is a part of the core apps, it wants to.
Just ignore it. It will all work out in the wash as soon as RIM updates the core apps to include BBM v5

Application Loader error after upgrading to DT 6.1
I upgraded Desktop from 6.0.1.18 to 6.1.0.35 (Windows XP SP3), and now I'm getting
a popup with the following message when I connect the phone (Torch 9800, 6.0 Bundle 695)
and type in the password.
Handheld Application Loader Wizard has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Clicking on the detail link in the popup produces another popup with this info:
AppName: loader.exe AppVer: 6.0.1.33 ModName: loader.exe ModVer: 6.0.1.33 Offset: 0015a360
Desktop runs after dismissing the popups, but Applications cannot be viewed, and Music
sync no longer works. There were no such problems with DT 6.0.1.18.
Any idea how to fix this?I like you to check out the other 'Handheld error' link:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Handheld-Application-Loader-Wizard-ha...
I spent some time of trying different loader versions and found out that loader version 6.0.1.15 seemed to overcome the error problem. The idea is to replace your current loader.exe version 6.0.1.33 with an older version 6.0.1.15 which I found on the Bell Device Software download page for the Torch 9800. We need to install this device software temporarily and then uninstall it again so it does not conflict with your AT&T device software in case you need it.
Note that we copy this device software temporarily to get version 6.0.1.15 installed in the ‘AppLoader’ folder of the DTM (Desk Top Manager). This works only if one first deletes the loader.exe file in this folder before one installs Bell's Torch 9800 Device Software.
I recommend to store a copy of this older folder version, say on your desktop afterwards in case future DTM upgrades still cause this 'Handheld error' till RIM has time to look at this issue and fix it. If we install a DTM it will always put its new loader version into the 'AppLoader' folder and overwrites whatever is present. This is what happened to you. If you have copy of this previous loader version then re-install it and skip my solution 6.0.1.15.
Check out page 2 of the above link for the rest of the info and tell me which USB host controller resides in your PC with the ‘Handheld error’. I am collecting ‘lemon’ USB controllers for the record. Who knows what other problems
are related to these trolls?

I'm ready to throw this phone in the blender.... if I could only back up my data first. A couple of months ago the What's App application required an update. I updated it and ever since my phone has steadily had more and more issues. First, I kept getting this uncaught error message, shortly thereafter the 2 email accounts (both gmail) that I have linked to the account disappeared. The message icon shows that I have messages, but icons not there (I have tried the show all option). At one point the message icon started exponentially adding the number of messages until it got up to over 86,000. When I reboot the phone it goes back down and then steadily increases again... usually though it's more to 400 - 500 rather then tens of thousands. I have been trying to install updates and do a wipe of the BB so that I can start from scratch, unfortunately the application loader is unable to back up data. The desktop manager is unable to connect to the blackberry and indicates that an upgrade is required. I have tried doing the upgrade both directly from the phone and connected to the desktop manager, but nothing seems to work. If I try to upgrade the software directly from the BB, I get to the start download button and when I click, nothing happens. I have removed all applications except bberry app world and one game that I play, Pixelated Plus. Still nothing. Any ideas?Do you want to save the messages?
If not (and I think they are the problem) open the Desktop Software > Device > Delete Data and click the "select Data" option. Select the Messages to remove. Complete the prompts and finish.
Then, return to backup the entire device, and see if that is possible to complete this time with no messages.
Now, once the back up is done and you have your data, you can disconnect the device.
Now, use BBSAK to wipe the device and subsequently load the new operating system.
**If you cannot complete the backup again above, you might have to do without it, OR you can use the Desktop Software to sync your Address book, calendar, memos and tasks to Outlook. OR, you can easily install and use BlackBerry Protect to backup your device over the air to RIM servers, then once wiped and the new OS reloaded, you can use Protect to restore the data back to the 8900. << This you should do regardless.
Good luck, post back here as you have questions.

Application Loader Via Desktop Software
Hi All
Ive just got my 1st Blackberry (8120), after using Nokia's for many years, and so far so good
I downloaded the latest version of the desktop software, and im trying to upload things by the application loader such as themes.
however i have already got the theme, and the Opera mini browser but the appliction wants to remove what ive already installed on my phone even if i take out the tick box on the applications it wants to remove and I have deslected "erase all currently installed applications" in the options menu.
Why does the application installer insist on removing any prev installed files, does anyone know a way around this - many thanks
SteTry this to put the software on device..
Open DTM - then application loader. on the first screen, connect the blackberry WITH THE BATTERY OUT.
Leave it for up to 3 mins till you see the pin number flash under connections.
Then press next and then replacement the battery.
The follow the steps found Here.
This of course will only work if you actually have the Device software installed to the computer as well.
To check if you do, open up desktop Manager - Help - About Desktop Manager - Click Device Software Tab.
In here you should see the software installed to the pc listed.
If not, go to http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/do ... _sites.jsp to download the software specific for your carrier/device.
Failing all this, your carrier should have escalated the call to RIM to do a javaload over the phone with you before they authorised a replacement device. Oh well not to worry.
RIM do a javaload when the application loader won't recognise the device, with or without the battery in it.
Also make sure there is no other power going to usb devices and if a laptop, have it plugged into ac power.
Good luck and let us know how you go!
If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.

Application loader client without desktop manager?
hi,
in short the initial situation: business policy forbids to install the desktop management software, but i need the application loader to install software. furthermore, this software has no over the air access, so again, i need the application loader.
i already tried the web application loader plus web server, but did not succeed.
is there a stand alone application loader?
thanks
hannes

Desktop Mgr: Music services failed to load.
Hello, I've tried to reinstall the desktop manager, formatted the 16GB Media Card, in the Memory section of the Options (Compression - Disabled, Media Card Support - On, Media Transfer Protocol - On, Mass Storage Mode - On, Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connnected - Yes).
I can sync Pictures, Videos, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks. However, when I select Music from Media Sync I get "Music Services Failed to Load "An unexpected error occurred."

Application loader not working on blackberry curve 8310
Hi all,
I have some problem with my 8310. I want to install a asian langague, but application loader not working. I have a error message :
"The blackberry desktop software does not have
Blackberry device software for the device that
you have connected to the computer. Contact
your wireless service provider or system administrator"
blackberry desktop manager version 4.2.2.14
blackberry device manager version 4.2.2.10
application loader version 4.2.2.16
What is the good package to install ?
Thanks in advance.hello, you have a 8310. You must use an OS for the exact model. Using one for 8300 or 8330 will not work.

Application Loader Is Now Empty. What Happened?
Hello I finally grew up from windows mobile and went to Verizon and upgraded to a Blackberry Storm 9530. The software in the box was version 4.7 which seems to be the most up to date. I installed it and hooked up my Storm a couple of times and the Application Loader would show everything installed on my Storm. I installed a couple of other apps on the side today without the software and they worked fine. Also, they showed up in the Application Loader with the default loaded software. Tonight I decided to hook the Storm back up to the PC and I went to search for updates for my software. When it tried to download the updates it gave a fatal error and the BB Desktop Manager crashed. My Storm then went to a white screen with a clock and would not response. I had to pull the battery and put it back in to boot my Storm back up. Ever since then when I go to the application loader it only shows the 2 apps I installed today and not any of the other apps so that I can remove or update them. They appear to be on my Storm and function, but not in that list. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled after a reboot and still only those 2 files show.
What can I do to fix my first BB that I now seem to have broken?
Thanks in advance,
A new and worried user.

I keep getting this message when i connect my new Bold 9900 and started getting it on my curve 8330 a couple months ago. I have the newest version of desktop manager 6.0 installed on both my laptop and my PC. The strange thing is it works flawlessly on my laptop, no error messages from either phone. Just got the new Bold last week, plugged it in to PC, same error. I have done alot of reading through the forums and have tried to uninstall and re-install the desktop software 3 or 4 times. Even tried upgrading the OS on the Curve and Bold on the Laptop. Plugged it back into the PC and same problem. I cannot force the Loader.exe to start on PC when I click on it on the C:\program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Apploader, crashes right away. Even tired a method that outlines how delete registry entries, etc and tried that. Does anyone have any further ideas or more detailed way to resolve this. Seems to be desktop manager issue as no problems with same devices on laptop.

Handheld application loader encountered a problem and needs to close
This problem has been occurring for months for me now, and still, I have not found a solution. There used to be no problem. The solutions I found online including in this forum do not work for me. I have uinstalled and reinstalled all bb softwares on my computer, I have deleted the apploader files, i have restored my XP computer to its factory settings and updated everything from scratch, from SP1 to SP3, and still, no solution is in sight.
I copied the error log which is found below: I hope somebody can decipher this and offer a solution;
Thanks.

HELP PLEASE!!! 4.5 application loader!
i have downloaded the 4.5 update for my brand new curve. i began to install it and it stopped working, deleting everything off my phone. i know have a hand set with an tiny application window on it with a cross through it. when i go to re-try the application loader for the 4.5 update it doesn't recognise my handset!! neither does my desktop software. please please help i don't know how to get anything back on the phone or update it to the new software without my computer recognising it!"
I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, however, I was not trying to use the app loader. I contacted my cellular provider and they told me that my OS had crashed and that there was nothing I could do about it. They sent me a replacement phone right away and I haven't had a problem with it since.

Application loader error?
My computer keeps saying "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please reconnect your device, enter the password, if required, and click retry." when i try to update the phone. The issue before was that the phone kept shutting off and would get stuck on the display loading bar everytime. I went to the AT&T store in town and they told me I needed to update it. I tried that and now it won't even turn on. The red light flashes a few times and then it stops and gives me the above message. What should I do?
Hope the USB cable is okayyy & Desktop Software is also updated to the latest one..!!
Please restart the process using quite different way..
Go to C drice of your PC then Programme files > Common files > Research In Motion > App Loader > Loader.exe
Double click on loader.exe, it will prompt a Window, steps are very user friendly, follow instrcution carefully and update the OS.
Good luck -
Hit the application loader button and I accidentally removed everything from my phone.
When I turned my computer on, the Blackberry Desktop Manager popped up. I hit the application loader button and it completely deleted everything that was in my phone. Is there anyway to get my information back. I assume it is somewhere in my computer now and I am hoping I can reverse the process. I noticed now that it says disconnected. Obviously I am new to the process. Please help! Thanks!!
Have you done at least one backup action before with Blackberry Desktop Manager ?
If yes - check your "My Documents" folder. There is a file with extension ipd
And into this file there is the saved data from your device. -
BlackBerry Application Loader run automatically
Hello all,
When I start the “BlackBerry® Desktop Manager” the “BlackBerry® Application Loader” is run automatically. It’s a problem if my PC is not connected to INTERNET, since I can’t stop it clicking on “Cancel” and the “BlackBerry® Desktop Manager” become hanged. Therefore, I can’t use my device as an External Modem.
It is happening since I updated the “BlackBerry® Desktop Manager” to Version 5.0.1.37.
I want to configure the “BlackBerry® Desktop Manager” to ask me if I want to run the “BlackBerry® Application Loader”, in a manual way. But I have not found how to do it.
I would appreciate if one of you can help me, please.
Thanks,
L.M.R.R.On your PC > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, find Desktop Manager and click on it to CHANGE the setup. Run that. At the end of the run, you will see a couple of settings, one is Check automatiically for updates. Turn that off.

Hi guys
I'm new to this forum and looking for a help please..
My curve 8900 got the "Reload Software:552" message on the screen. I was trying to uninstall an application and after it asked me to reboot, it showed me that message. I already try to reinstall the OS like most of you guys said. But when I already in the process of that, it showed me "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry"
I was trying this steps..
1. use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
2. connect the BlackBerry to the computer using a USB cable
3. click application loader, then start
4. then i choose the OS and apps i want to install it also
5. after i click finish and the process start, i stuck on the task 2 of 5 "wait for device initialization" and then the message "Application loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect yout device, enter password, if requiered, and retry" showed.
I try and try again but there is no use. it keeps show that message.
help me please, this really frustrates me
Thanks in advance guys..1. Make certain your USB cable is connected to a main REAR USB port on the rear of the PC, not a front USB port, not a USB hub.
2. Try loading the OS with these instructions (make sure that Desktop Manager is not running):
1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
