Desktop outsizes monitor constraints in 10.4.4

This is an urgent one.. The desktop just became "bigger" and now outsizes the monitor, so when I move the mouse, the ENTIRE desktop and everything on it scrolls the opposite way the mouse is moving.. This is creating a vertigo type sensation when using.. Never seen this phenomenon before, all text and graphics seem slightly "blurry" as if they've been enlarged just a hair..
I've already tried connecting a new monitor to no avail. Just to be clear, I've been using OS X for years and this is obviously a bug or conflict of some kind.. I've restarted to no avail.. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's my work computer and as is, the mac is unusable as of now due to this conflict..
Thanks

Hi Verks, glad you were able to figure out your issue. But I was wondering how you changed it back since a friend of mine is having the same issue and I don't have any suggestions. Please help....

  • Surface Pro 3, Remote Desktop, multiple monitors, Windows 8.1 DPI scaling issues

I have been evaluating Surface Pro 3 and once of the attributes is the display. Here is the description of the environment and the remote desktop display issue.
Surface Pro 3 (Windows 8.1 with latest firmware and Windows updates) has 12 inch built-in screen with native resolution 2160x1440. The Surface is docked and an external monitor (native resolution 1920x1080) is connected to the docking stations. The
display configuration doesn't allow for different scaling for each monitor, single scaling value is used for multiple monitors. This is an issue as the recommended scaling of 150% is optimal for small built-in screen of Surface but it is not optimal for
large screens of external monitors. Also this scaling is "inherited" by a remote desktop session which results in objects being too large on the remote desktop sessions or sometimes even blurry/fuzzy.
Can the blurriness/fuzziness of the remote desktop session be resolved?

    Hi Colin,
Thanks for the response. I installed the latest firmware and patches about a week ago and the scaling issue improved. It is not optimal yet as some graphical elements are still out of proportions but I do not want to spent more resources on this subject
    anymore.
    Best regards,

  • T43 extended desktop (2nd monitor) maxes at 1280x768

I use an HD Flat panel TV with computer monitor capability as a 2nd monitor for extending my desktop.  This 2nd monitor has a very high resolution capability (the manual recommends a setting of 1920x1080 for computer connections).  The T43 display settings dialogue limits this second monitor to 1280x768 pixels, even though it allows much higher resolutions for the T43's built-in screen (I currently run at 1400x1050).
I see no Lenovo driver updates that address resolution issues for a 2nd monitor, but would really like to take advantage of a higher 2nd monitor resolution in my work.  Am I limited by my video hardware, video driver, BIOS, or what?  Is there a solution to my problem?

  • Extend desktop primaty monitor

I just got my new PBG4 12" aluminum and connected an external display to it, unchecked mirror, and got the desktop extended on the LCD and the external CRT.
Is it possible to arrange the monitors so that the primary monitor, the one with the top menu bar on it, is not on the PB's LCD but on the external CRT?
I tried different arrangments but the monitor with the menu bar on top always is on the PB's LCD.
I can drag windows to the external monitor but then I have to move back to the primary (LCD) to access application menus, application windows open on the LCD, and even when the application main window is on the CRT (secondary), auto fill in forms or URLs appear on the LCD.
Is this the way it is supposed to be or am I doing something wrong

In the display preference pane, where you tried to arrange the monitors, you can drag the white menu-bar onto the other monitor.

  • Extended Desktop (Dual Monitors) on 13'' Macbook?

I am thinking of hooking up my Macbook to my TV using the following adapter:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6934002/wo/Gs5Ps WUtnG7T3zQT50TQtAqEzED/5.0.0.23.1.0.8.11.33.0.0.1.1.0.9.1.3.0.1.11.7.7.0.2.0#rev
I was wondering if I would be able to use the TV as a 2nd monitor, or if the Macbook's screen would turn off and only allow me to use one monitor at a time.
The TV itself is an LCD TV, and not a TV/monitor.
    Thanks a bunch,
    Jonny

You will be able to run in any one of three different modes, whichever is to your liking:
    - Extended Desktop mode where both screens are active and the TV will be an extension of the screen on the MB.
    - Mirror mode where both screens are active but run at the same resolution and have the same image on both.
    - TV only mode where only the TVs screen is used and the lid on the MB is closed. For this mode you need to have the MB plugged into its AC adapter and you need to wake it using a mouse or some other USB or Bluetooth peripheral.

    Hi
I've done lots of deployments of this on UCCX, and still haven't found a NIC that doesn't work. I'm sure there are some, but they appear to be very rare.
If you can sniff the UDP when a call is in progress, it can work. If you can't, then it's usually down to configuration - e.g. non-phone-connected PCs, span-to-PC-port, PC vvvlan access, etc etc.

Firefox will not boot and run successfully in any extended screen/desktop mode--only when using the local laptop screen itself.
I wiped an older version, but even the installation sequence ran like cold molasses in... Had to drag windows to cause them to refresh, so I could see what options to click. Windows did not appear responsive to mouse clicks. They were, but took minutes to respond.
Finally, I tried a Windows key-P and chose Disconnect Projector--and there was Firefox. But back at extended display, Firefox refuses to run.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • My desktop 27in monitor w/ built in tower displays a flashing folder w/ "?"

I dont know what to do about this glashing "?"

There are four general causes of this issue:
    1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
    2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
    3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
    4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from the hard drive's location.

  • Managing dual monitor with multiple desktops

After updating to Lion, I set my macbook up with a few different desktops so I could easily swipe between them instead of searching for the windows I needed.  I just set up a second monitor to my mac and noticed that anytime I swipe to a different desktop, both monitors change.  Is there a way to "freeze" one while the other moves?  Or better yet, can I set up my second monitor to only have one desktop while my mac still has 2 or more?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • How to split one monitor into two, differently configured desktops

    Hello,
I have a 27" iMac. I would like to split the screen into two differently configured desktops or monitors. Apps like TwoUp or Divy don't exactly do this. I'll explain it with an example:
Suppose I'm working on a document and I need to open many folders to retrieve files. One common problem is that opened folders overlap each other and sometimes they overlap with the document I'm working on, or they go underneath the document. I would like to split the screen vertically in, say, two virtual, independent desktops/monitors, like this:
    - one window/space on one side (say, on the left) of the screen would contain the document  from top to bottom, with no dock bar on the bottom
    - the other window/space (right) would behave as a regular, full desktop, with the entire dock on the bottom
In this way, if I need to navigate to find a file to use in the document, I would move the cursor to the right. The Finder would work only in this window/space, thus windows or other applications would never overlap or clutter the left side of the screen. Drag-and-drop from right to left should be possible.
One way to imagine it is as if the 16x9 monitor were comprised by two vertical, 8x9 independent monitors side by side, each with its own configuration.
Is this possible? Can anyone recommend an application or type of setup?
    Thank you,
    -celso

    Looking for something like this?
You can tell Display Maid to save the positions of your open windows across many apps and later restore those positions when things become a mess. With Display Maid you don’t have to restore windows one at a time, or even one app at a time. Display Maid restores all saved window positions across all apps with one command. It will also restore window positions automatically when it detects a workspace change.
