Desktop redirector

Hi All,
I have 11 users on BES and exchange 2003. Of these 11 users 2 cannot send email from their 8120's because they are part of the DomainAdmins group. They are reluctant to set up another account to sync to as they are unable to remove their DomainAdmin permissions. I have one user who is using Desktop Manager and the redirector on his PC and it is working fine, the other user is using a laptop as his workstation and is not connected to the LAN 24/7. What I would like to do is set up one PC running Desktop Manager and the redirector for these 2 users and have them sync through an accounts set up on the exchange server both running through this one PC.  My question would be is this possible and if so how do I do it.
Thanks

Hi there!
I don't think so...see this KB:

  • Attachments with Desktop Redirector

I am a new Curve user and have a question.  I am using the Desktop Redirector and I cannot view attachments.  From what I have read, it appears I cannot do this.  Can someone confirm?  Are there any alternatives?  We have a very small business with an Exchange 2003 server and one BB user.
    Thanks

You should be able to view whether or not you're using BIS or BES.
On a BES the BlackBerry Attachment Service should already be installed and running.
Using BIS, just make sure the BlackBerry Attachment Service is installed. Check under Options | Advanced Options | Applications. If you don't see it listed, then you just have to install it when loading the device software.

  • Problem with Desktop redirector forwarding messages

In my office 5 of us use the desktop redirector , and it stopped working last Saturday so I fairly sure the problem is with our SPAM filtering or exchange etc the problem is everyone I talk to seems clueless,
In out look I see all the BB messages now have the subject as Spam: Spam: RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2 , from [email protected] , and I can still send messages from blackberry, so any suggestions as to how I track down what is responsible for identifying these messages as spam ?
    Thanks

Hi rosspce and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
The altered subject line is what's causing your problem.  The BlackBerry Desktop Redirector looks for the specific subject line of RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2, so when "Spam" is added to the subject line, it is not recognized and thus not processed.
It is typical of some spam filters to alter the subject line to make for easy filtering of messages.  You would have to consult whoever is administering the spam filter and make sure these messages are not marked as spam.

  • How do I change to BB Desktop REdirector option?

When I first setup my BB, I don't think I chose the BB Desktop Redirector Option.  How can I change to this option now?

Uninstall the desktop software, then re-install and choose Redirector.

  • Installed Desktop Redirector by mistake

I purchased my phone and service from one of the national cell phone services.  I have had a few little problems that they have helped me fix, but I installed the Desktop software that came with my phone and selected the Redirector.  I am now told that I should have installed Internet Services and not the Redirector.  I have removed the desktop software using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and reinstalled.  However I am still getting the redirector emails like this

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Step 1: You have installed Desktop Manager using the 'Desktop Redirector' option.
If you're not using Redirector, you should uninstall Desktop Manager and then reinstall it using the BlackBerry Internet Service option.
Step 2: On your device, go to: Options > Advanced > Service Book, and delete all service books for [Desktop]

  • DroidX version of Blackberry Desktop Redirector

Does the DriodX offer software similar to Blackberry's Desktop redirector.  My employer prohibits direct exchange server connections for gathering Outlook email, but does permit Redirector to act as a fowarding service.

Have you searched the Android Market place? There could be an application that you could download from the Android Application Market. Keep in mind since it's a 3rd party application it's not supported by Verizon Wireless.
    Hope this helps!

  • Desktop Redirector with Outlook to a POP3 Account

I have Outlook pointing to an Internet POP3 account.  Can I use the Desktop Redirector in this configuration?
I currently have my BlackBerry setup with an Internet account.  It works but the Internet account only sends to the device about every 15 minutes, so there are often delays in when the messages appear on the BlackBerry.  Also, Sent messages are not coordinated with my Outlook Client.
    tmiller

Desktop Redirector is only supported using an exchange mail server, POP3 mail sill not work with redirector and you will end up with ETP.DAT messages in your inbox.

  • Desktop Redirector & Forwarding Contacts/Appointments

My posting is a two part question.  First, I am hoping to accomplish being able to do a wireless sync of contacts and appointments in Outlook using Desktop Redirector.  I plan to still use BIS for email on this account.
I'm using a terminal in my office and plan on leaving it logged in to the users account 24-7.
PROBLEM 1: I've uninstalled & reinstalled BB Desktop v. 5.0.1 and set up the Storm 2 to work with the software.  Everything seems fine until I open Desktop Redirector.  It opens Redirector with a status of Running but shows a date of 9/14/2009 of message last delivered.  There is a whole bunch of info in this screen but this phone is brand new and we've never used Redirector on this machine.  I cannot even select Options > Clear Statistics.  PIN is correct for this phone.
PROBLEM 2:  WIll Desktop Redirector even sync Contacts & Appointments wirelessly?
    Help!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To quickly answer, no...Redirector delivers only email.
    Best.

  • How to install desktop redirector

Ok I'm lost here, I've tried it on several PCs, same results - I never get prompted to install the Desktop Redirector for Outlook.
    I followed these instructions -
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB16236&slic...
Step 9 never comes up. I selected 'work' - selected 'Outlook' then it bypasses step 9 and goes right to the final step. What am I doing wrong here?

Nevermind....apparently even thought the step never came up it was installed in the background.

  • Receiving network@etp messages using Desktop Redirector

A user of mine is receiving numerious network@etp messages in her Outlook Inbox. She uses the Desktop Redirector NOT the Blackberry Internet Service. This worked flawlessly for several months until now. Besides the BB messages in Outlook she is also receiving duplicate messages on her BB. Please advise!

  • Desktop Redirector Not Contacting Phone

Hi all, first I want to apologize if this has been covered before.  New to the boards, and I wasn't able to find anything similar that had a solution.
With that out of the way: My boss's Desktop Redirector isn't working properly anymore with his 8330 phone.  It used to work, from what i've been told, until recently.  Oddly, *some* emails from his Exchange account are still getting to his phone, but not all of them.  There doesn't seem to be a pattern to what gets sent and what doesn't, either.  For instance, some things marked as spam by our filter get through, while some spam doesn't.  Same with emails not marked as spam, and emails that come from our domain.  I also tried to send emails from his phone (something I don't think he does)  using his Exchange account, and it did not go through.
Also, the Redirector says the last time it made contact with the phone was almost 18 days ago, and all emails are added to the "pending" number and stay there, whether or not they are one of the ones that gets through.
All the settings appear to be correct in Desktop Manager.  I uninstalled the older (4.-something) version of Desktop Manager and Redirector and installed the latest version on Blackberry's website.  Same problems.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.  I'm sorry if I left something important out.  This has just kind of been relegated to me because I maintain our Windows-based systems, so I must know everything electronic.  Please let me know if there's anything else you need to know.

Its the exact same BB, same PIN.  I have spent the last 20 minutes on the phone with tmobile - tried changing the fowarding address in regedit to my email (@tmo.blackberry.net), tried new service books, tried couple of other items - now being transferred to RIM as they are stumped.

  • Where is the desktop redirector with Desktop Manager 6?

A client of ours had upgraded his version of Desktop manager to 6 from 5.something.
There is no more link for the Redirector under START - PROGRAMS - BLACKBERRY
The icon for the redirector still shows up in his start menu, however, it says that it's not started.
Where can I find the software with the new desktop manager?  I've tried reinstalling the desktop manager already but still cannot find it, nor were there any options during the installation to include it.

I've looked for this and cannot find it either.  I want to be able to hide the Blackberry bar at the bottom of the screen when I minimized the software.

  • Desktop Redirector Stuck in "Verifying forwarding address"

We have a number of BlackBerrys using the Redirector and Desktop 4.7, and with our first Tour using the Redirector and Desktop 5.0 software, the Redirector stays in a non-operational "Verifying forwarding address" mode.  This has not happened with the Curves and one Bold which installed fine and are operating using the Redirector without problems.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    Solved!

Problem solved.  A weak 1x signal and no wi-fi capability made forwarding address verification impossible.  We placed the 9630 inside a car a block away - where the 1x signal was 4 bars - and the Redirector verified the forwarding address.  I sure hope Telus is able to upgrade their network here -- slow, weak, and full of dead spots!

  • Desktop Redirector Problem

I have a Blackberry 700 and am running desktop software version 4.3.  We have an Exchange server 2003 email system.  My problem is that the email forwarding is extremely intermittant - Outlook shows messages coming in fairly frequently, but the Blackberry might only forward a few to the device every 12 to 24 hours.  The redirector will show that a lot of messages are pending (20 to 50).  The OS is windows XP pro with Outlook 2003.

    Hey Mogart,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Just a question about your BlackBerry, is there a different model number for your BlackBerry, since I could not find anything about the 700.
Now is this computer always left on to have delivery sent down to the BlackBerry?
Also have you thought of upgrading your BlackBerry Desktop Manager to the latest 5.0.1?

  • I'm getting constant data messages in my email and I'm not even running desktop redirector. Very annoying.

I constantly receive [email protected] emails on both my handheld and in my inbox. I'm not running the redirector and instead am using my works internet exchange mail. I had no problem for about a year, then all of the sudden I started receiving the network messages constantly, even at night when I'm not sending any email. I did notice that on my handheld under email setup it says (2) as if to indicate there are two email addresses set up. But when I acess the setup menu there is only one email. Any ideas? It is very frustrating to have to keep deleting all these network emails.

I may have fixed it with this article. http://bit.l y/mK79yg I deleted CMIME and CICAL service books. I'll post back if this fix works. Funny though, I never had this problem previously. It just started randomly one day.
