Desktop Sharing using CUCM 8.5

I beleive that desktop sharing using Jabber with bfcp is only available using CUCM 8.62a and install the bfcp cop file. Desktop sharing will not work with CUCM 8.5. Correct?
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, this is correct.
Thanks,

  • What port number for Desktop Sharing using in Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online

    Dear All,
          My environment using Lync Server 2013 and Lync online on Office 365. I don't want my user using Desktop Sharing feature. then I need to know what port number for Desktop Sharing using in Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online.
    I will deny this port on personal firewall each client.
          Thank you for your advise.

    Hi,
    I'm not sure you'd be able to do this with ports without impacting other application sharing features such as Q&A, Whiteboard, Poll etc - I'm pretty sure they all come under the same umbrella of ClientAppSharing.
    Ordinarily you would create or modify your conferencing policy to restrict sharing to single programs only using a cmdlet similar to below;
    Set-CsConferencingPolicy -Identity "Global" -EnableAppDesktopSharing SingleApplication
    This would disable desktop sharing but enable users to continue sharing other single programs. If you want to remove that functionality too, then replace the 'SingleApplication' parameter with 'None'. Then users won't be able to share any programs either.
    This is the correct way to do it as the icons will be greyed out for the users. Doing it your way, they would still be able to click them, and it would throw an error - this will lead to a lot more support calls and people assuming a service is broken.
    I hope that helps some.
    Kind regards
    Ben

  • Specific Application filter while desktop sharing

    I need help for the specific application filter while on desktop sharing. i.e i have to share entire Desktop with current running processe except server application window (UI).http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2007/03/23/writing-a-desktop-sharing-application.aspx
    I got the samples for desktop sharing using Windows Desktop Sharing References. In that I need to filter the specific application. But i didn't know How to do that.
    By using following things we can try to filter the specific Application. But I want to know, how to call Viewer side share property to fire the OnApplicationUpdate Event on server side.
    RDPSRAPI_APP_FLAGS & RDPSRAPI_WND_FLAGS enumeration - How to set the flag for specific application to give high level security process.
    IRDPSRAPIApplicationFilter
    _IRDPSessionEvents_OnApplicationUpdateEventHandler
    Please give me some examples to do this....
    Thanks

    Hi Narmadha,
    Your issue seems to be out of the scope of this forum. We only focus on issue about RDS/VDI deployment, management and operations. For development and API issue it is appropriate to ask in our MSDN Forum:

  • Lync 2013 desktop sharing is giving Black screen when using virtual machine

    Hello,
    We have a user who is connecting our network through VPN and connecting to a virtual machine. He is able to login to lync but when he start desktop sharing or some one sharing the desktop to him, he is getting black screen. He is using windows 7 and Lync
    2013 client. Please advice

    Hi,
    Did he receive any error message?
    Please double check the ports for VPN traffic.
    Please also enable logging on Lync client for further troubleshooting.
    What’s more, when users connect to the corporate network using a VPN client, Lync media traffic is sent through the VPN tunnel. This configuration can create additional latency and jitter because media traffic must pass through an additional layer of encryption
    and decryption. The issue is compounded when the VPN concentrator is busy.
    You can configuration like this:
    Lync client connect to the Access Edge Server for all signaling connections when on the corporate VPN. However, Media sessions routed through the A/V Edge Server interface instead of establishing connectivity through the VPN tunnel.

  • Jabber 9.2.5 desktop sharing intermittently working

    Hello All,
    I'm experiencing strange problems with jabber desktop sharing feature.
    I'm using CUCM 9.1 and IMP 9.1 with J4W 9.2.5 in softphone mode.
    I configured the sip profile for jabber devices with: "Allow Presentation Sharing using BFCP"
    Sometimes users can initiate a desktop sharing session sometimes they can't.
    Can you please advise on this? Is it fully supported or I should use webex?
    thanks
    lorenz

    Hi,
    We use the Last jabber 9.6 Build. To avoid the cert question we use dring the Installation the following switches, the cert Switch is here the Import Switch..
    msiexec.exe /i CiscoJabberSetup.msi CLEAR=1 AUTHENTICATOR=CUP CUP_ADDRESS=vCUPPUB1.example.com SERVICES_DOMAIN=example.com CERTIFICATE_VALIDATION=DISABLE

  • CUPC - Desktop Sharing

    I have CUCM 8.6 and Presence 8.6
    Is an external application like MeetingPlace or Webex required for CUPC users to share their desktop or can it be done with just CUPC?

    I actually don't recall specifically checking with CUPC but I was under the impression that CUPC leveraged an external service (like webex). Used to be MeetingPlace. Not sure if it ever supported both at the same time.
    Lately I have been looking at JFW. As Barry noted (+5 B.). JFW provides a native desktop sharing capability that leverages Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP). Which means an active call is required. That is key. For other desktop sharing scenarios, you still need an external solution (i.e. webex).
    I am not sure how JFW w/BFCP would interoperate with a multipoint call. I suppose if you had a MCU that support SIP and BFCP (h323 content sharing doesn't use BFCP) it would work as it does with other CUCM-registered video endpoints. Not that you asked about multipoint, but it is one of the next logical quesitons for discussions around content sharing.

  • Jabber Desktop Sharing

    Hello,
    I have CUPS 8.6.4 (on-prem) and jabber client 9.1.3. I am trying to share my desktop with multiple people without escalating to WebEx.
    It seems like i can only share with one other person and only if both clients are set to "use my computer"
    Can I share to multiple people in desktop mode?
    If not is this on the roadmap? Also not to have to be in "use my computer" mode.
    thnaks,
    Randall

    Cisco Jabber for Windows will only be able to do desktop sharing with BFCP enabled CSFs (configuration may vary based on your CUCM version), at this moment you will be able to do it only with one contact at a time.
    I think you might find that out in the release notes
    Regards,
    Josh.

  • Disbale Desktop Sharing in Jabber for Windows for single users

    Hi,
    is there possibility to administrative disabling the desktop sharing feature for selected users?
    CUP and CUCM is 8.6. Jabber is 10.5. Use DesktopSharing via Chat without any phone or deskphone only.
    Regards

    I am referring to the new Screen Sharing way in Jabber 10.5 for screen sharing without having a video call running:
    "In addition to the video screen share (BFCP) feature that is available to video-enabled clients when on a call, users can now screen share directly from an IM conversation when video share is not provisioned or available."

  • CUCiMOC and CUCiLync desktop sharing and conferencing

    Hi Guys,
    Can someone please advise when we install CUCiMOC or CUCiLync does it also disable the "desktop sharing" feature of MOC/Lync client? I have read few blogs on this and getting conflicting answers
    Also, my understanding is CUCiMOC or CUCiLync can still use CUCM (DSP's in ISR) for adhoc audio conferencing, however for Web, Video and scheduled audio conferencing we need to implement Meeting Place and Webex...is that correct?
    Thanks
    Aamir

    Hi Aamir,
    desktop sharing should still be available, It has nothing to do with it. You should disable any audio or video conferencing solution on Lync in order to have the better experience with CUCILync. This does not mean it will disable desktop sharing

  • Latency issue in Desktop Sharing

    We are planning to develop a conferencing solution using LCCS. I am trying to evaluate the screen/desktop-sharing application. I am experiencing 5-10 seconds latency during the transfer of the screen data to the other end.
    I am using the demo application(ScreenShareSubscriber and ScreenSharePublisher), provided in the SDK.
    Some more details:
    - Current OS is Windows 7 (32 bit).
    - I am behind a proxy.
    - I am running the applications in India.
    - Using Flex builder 4.6 with Flash player 11.1.
    - Using the developer account to test the application.
    Questions:
    - Can the delay be reduced programatically? If yes, then how?
    - The final solution may be used by people distributed across the globe. Is there a possibility that, the latency is affected by your location?
    - If the above is true, does Adobe provide cloud services (for commercial applications) that are distributed in different location, to reduce the latency?
    - Can proxy server be an issue? We have port 443 open on the proxy server for TSL connections.
    - If the above is true, then how can we avoid the issue? The final application may be used in a corporate network and we cannot ask everyone to change their network settings to connect LCCS services.
    I have checked some posts on the forum, which say that, the performance is faster on Macs. We are currently not targetting the Mac platform.
    Thanks,
    Subrat

    Hi,
    Please double check the following firewall port between two subnets.
    Front End Servers-Lync Server Application Sharing service 5065 TCP used for incoming SIP listening requests for application sharing.
    Front End Servers-Lync Server Application Sharing service 49152-65535 TCP Media port range used for application sharing.
    Clients 1024-65535* TCP Application sharing.
    If the issue persists, you can use the Lync server logging tool on FE server to test the process of desktop sharing.
    Here is the link of using the Lync logging tool:

  • Lync Application and Desktop Sharing - Restrict remote access/Telnet

    I have a customer and they are paranoid about using Lync application/desktop sharing which could potentially enable remote users from getting into their internal IT systems.  They are asking if we could restrict application/desktop sharing specifically
    for appls with remote access capabilities (e.g. Telnet, etc.)? Anyone could share any information relating to this? Thanks!

    We can’t do this with Lync Server natively. Maybe you want to vote idea at

  • Remote Desktop Sharing

    I am making a project on desktop sharing which will show servers desktop to all the client connected to server. Exactly how will I proceed can any one tell me or can give me the code for simple operation ?

    1.) Use java.awt.Robot which can simulate user mouse and keyboard events
    2.) Call the java.awtRobot methods from the server class in the client
    Here is an example of an interface to use:
    import java.rmi.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public interface RemoteDesktopInterface extends Remote {
         public ImageIcon captureScreen(Rectangle screenRect) throws    RemoteException;
         public void keyPress(int keycode) throws RemoteException;
         public void keyRelease(int keycode) throws RemoteException;
         public void mouseMove(int x, int y) throws RemoteException;
         public void mousePress(int buttons) throws RemoteException;
         public void mouseRelease(int buttons) throws RemoteException;
         public void mouseWheel(int wheelAmt) throws RemoteException;
         public Dimension getScreenSize() throws RemoteException;
    }

  • Control Lync desktop sharing between different subnets

    Hi all..I want to control desktop sharing between differnet network.You consider this as we have multiple process.So desktop sharing should not work between other federated partners.
    I have federation with xxxx.com for one xxxsubnet
    another federation with yyyy.com for different yyysubnet
    if i allow ports for desktop sharing with federated partner from both the network between theses partners all users can do desktop share.
    But i neeed a solution like xxx subnet can share desktop only with xxx.com and yyy can share desktop with yyyy.com

    Hi,
    The feature is not available at present. But you can try to use lync Server SDK to customize this feature.

    Many thanks for any advice.
    David

    You don't need conversion programs, iTunes can copy most of your content over to the iPad via the file sharing section, and some apps also support Dropbox, email attachments, transfer via your wifi network. There are a number of apps that you can get that support Microsoft office file (microsoft don't make an app versions of their software) e.g. from Apple there are Pages (word support), Numbers (excel) and Keynote (powerpoint), and from third-parties there are apps such as Documents To Go and QuickOffice HD

  • How Lync desktop sharing works for internal users

    Hi,
    How Lync desktop sharing,  Aplication sharing & A/v conferencing works Internally ?
    is it uses Webconfrencing Edge server & A/V Conf Edge server for internal users also...
    I have confusion on this please help me and guide me how to deploy internally.
    does it works with edge server internally if yes how ?
    Thanks !!!

    No internal to internal conferencing, A\V and desktop share does not use the Edge Server. This is all handled by the Front End Server\s.
    For assistance on deploying please refer to http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Lync-Server-2012-9d6fe954
