Desktop size no longer fits screen size after restart

Since restarting my iMac today, I cannot get to a full image of everything on the desktop anymore at the resolution setting I used before (second highest, 1344x840); and when I choose full resolution (1680x1050) the desktop only covers 2/3 of the screen. In the closest setting to filling the 20" screen (1344x840) the desktop is slightly larger than the screen (bottom or top cutoff)
The letter and picture image also seems slightly more blurry in 1388x840 than before, probably because everything is blown up a bit beyond what it should be.
Regardless of what resolution I choose, every time I move the mouse in one direction, the desktop moves slightly in the opposite direction, stopping only when it reaches the border of the screen (like when you use really magnified settings.)
I did not change a thing since shutdown last night, nor have I ever experienced anything like this before.
Any remedies? (I did disk utilities/repair but nothing changed)

Hi PP: Try this: System Preferences > Universal Access, and turn Zoom off. Or, hold the Control key and scroll downwards.

Trying to fit screen for Samsung tv. The current view is too large. Tried the system preference display options. It remain to large 42" screen with 1080p 60Hz

Do you see a Scaled option next to Resolution: ...?
If so, select Scaled and try choosing the highest Resolution in the list.

Desktop Icons no longer fit in Tiger

I have about 50 items on my desktop and when I shifted to Tiger they no longer fit without overlapping at the beginning. I changed the view options to put the labels on the right and that helped for a while, but only allowed three columns. Now this doesn't work. Now I have the icon size minimized and the files are tightly grouped in two columns widely separated. What can I do to better and more clearly use the space and fit everything?

Hey! I just unexpectedly found the solution for this problem after I played around with the icons on my desktop.
I simply change the text size to anything other than 10, 13 or 16pt and the spacing between columns just close up to one another!
I do not know why but I found this as a bug. Someone better tell Apple about this.

Adobe Air - input one size, output multiple device screen size?

Hello, my first post here, I am new to Adobe Air, the advertising litrature says it can distribute to multiple formats/devices, I have a question on how it does this.
I have html javascript applications made to 480x320 in screen size, I would like to distribute them on many devices, Adobe Air says it can do that, but the different devices it can output to have different screen sizes.
How can an app that is at one size, be made for devices with other screen sizes, for example tablets, does the program re size it, stretch it, crop parts if its not a straight enlargement, or do you have to 're make' the app again set to the size of the screen of the device you want to output to?
Just how does Adobe Air handle outputting to different devices that have different screen size?

If autologin is configured desktop background picture is always galaxy picture after restart.

If auto login is configured, the desktop background picture is always the standard picture galaxy after restart. If i do an normal login the background is the right one. The which i have configured.

I seem to have a slightly different variant of this problem. My desktop picture is supposed to select a random photo from a large folder, and change every hour. When I start up my MacBook Pro by itself, it works fine--I get a random picture. When I connect my external Samsung display and have mirroring turned on, it also works--I get one random picture on both screens.
The problem shows up only when mirroring is turned off. I should presumably get two different random pictures. But instead I get the same two pictures every time--two different pictures, but always the same ones. After the first hour, I do get two random pictures--but at startup, I always see the same two. Removing the .plist file didn't help. I tried removing the original two recurring photos, and everything seemed fine for a couple of startups, but then it just got stuck on a different pair. A pretty inconsequential problem, all in all, but frustrating.

Word Processing document to fit screen size.

I have opened Appleworks and then opened a new WP document to start work on. The problem is it is only filling a third of the available screen. It appears to be a real waste. I want to work on the document while it is displayed using every available inch of the screen. So it is in what I call 'real-time size' on a 12 inch notebook. I am fairly used to using Microsoft Office, but as you can tell from this post have had very little time with Appleworks or Mac's. I'm sure there is a very simple solution, and if somebody could help me using very simple language I would most grateful.

Appleworks does not have an automatic zoom feature that will enlarge the text so that it spans the width of the window. However, you can manually increase the zoom level so that the text appears larger in order to fill up more of your screen. Changing the zoom level only changes how large things appear on screen, not how large the text is on the page (like in Word).
To increase the zoom level, you use the buttons found at the bottom left corner of the window. You'll see a small rectangle that displays the zoom level. At first, it will read '100'. If you click on this, it will give you a pop up menu with percentages ranging from 25% ro 800% and a choice for other. When you first click you may only see numbers smaller than 100%, but if you point the mouse at the triangle at the end of the list, it will scroll down the list so you can see the rest of the choices.
Directly to the right of this '100' you will see two small buttons with what looks like a filled line chart. The first has small "peaks" and the second shows higher "peaks". As you might expect, the first is to decrease zoom level, the other to increase zoom level.
You can use these controls to change the zoom level so that you fill the whole screen to your liking.
BTW, the next button after the zoom controls is the on which hides and shows the tools (same as "Show Tools" under the Window menu). You can also double click on the 'Page 1' to bring up a dialog that lets you enter a number to jump to another page.

Fit screen size on Photoshop CS4

I know there is a similar post related to this but my laptop resolution is 1366 x 768 (highest possible) and my OS is window 7 home premium. When I use the liquify function on CS4, the liquify screen will not fit to my laptop screen. I cannot access to the scrollbar at the bottom when I zoom in to the image. Is there a way to fix this thing?

1. Set your taskbar to Autohide.
or
2. Use the Fullscreen mode in photoshop.
(press the F key once to get fullscreen)

Browser auto fit screen size

Do you mean you want your design to fill the browser window, or are you wanting to force the browser window to take up the whole screen? If the latter, please don't - most people absolutely hate having control of their browser window taken away, even if their browser will allow it.

Screen Resolution blurred. Desktop disply doesn't fit screen

I have a Mac Book pro intel running 10.4.11.
Without making any changes to my resolution pref's, it opened up displaying the desktop (and subsequently opened app's) as blurred and not fitting the monitor (too large all round)
by holding down and moving the mouse, I can move the WHOLE screen to access an icon or tool bar.
Tried to change resolution, but it makes no difference.
Any solution other than throwing it at the repair shop for a new driver?

That sounds like "zoom mode." Press the 'control' key while moving the
scroll ball on the mouse to "zoom out" to normal size. If you like, you can
disable zoom mode from:
*System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse*

I am only seeing an Apple logo on the screen even after restarting.

So, my son usually is watching netflix on his AppleTV and comes to tell me from time to time that Netflix isn't playing the videos since the beginning. We unplug or reset and everything is fine. Also if my TV goes to standby from inactivity after the AppleTV turns off, turing the AppleTV on wake up the TV. Well lately when the TV wakes up, it doesn't see anything from the AppleTV. Tonight my son comes out to tell me all he sees is the apple logo on the screen. I think it is updateing, nope. I do everything from unplugging and reset. Nothing helps. I unplugged for a while to cool it off, no help. I am kind of mad that I hadn't looked up the warranty earlier cause it expired 8 days ago. The reason I didn't really think there was too much of a problem when it wasn't showing picture a few times, is because I have had kind of problems with it before due to software issures. So, is this the "apple of death" sign?

Are you near an Apple store? If so make a Genus appointment and take it in.
If you have a micro USB to USB cable you could connect it to your computer to see if iTunes sees it.

Windows Does Not Remember Screen Resolution after restart

My screen resolution resets to 800 x 600 everytime i restart my PC, and I will have to set my resolution again everytime I start my PC.

Hi Nelson,
Please check the display adapters on Device Manager.
It may be caused by your graphics driver.
I suggest you reinstall the latest graphics driver to check the result.

Windows lock screen lost after restart

I have a PC that's running Windows 8.1.
The lock screen picture applies ok for when the PC is locked, however if the PC is restarted the lock screen changes back to another image.
Any ideas out there?

The new group policy is named “Force
a specific default lock screen image” and can be found in this path in the group policy editor: “Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative
Templates\Control Panel\Personalization”
Is this configured?
