Desktop Skype Phones for Windows 8

Hi All, I've downloaded Skype on my desktop for Windows 8 (I wasn't too happy with the app). I use a Skype number through my laptop (used as a server) which is shared between me and another individual in my office. I wondered if anyone knew if there was a way to get a USB Phone that we could use for this skype account so that either of us can answer the call or dial out from it? Any help would be great thanks.

If you want to resort to using a USB-based Skype phone or adapter, I would suggest getting one that works in conjunction with SkypeMate. That 3rd party application tends to get updated enough to be compatible with some Skype 6.x releases whereas other USB phones I've seen tend to discontinue support and only work up to the release when they were discontinued.

2014-08-04. Yesterday i was in great need of Skype WIFI on Heathrow. But no! Microsoft/Skype still don't have Skype wifi for Windows Phone but has it for all competing mobile platforms! How does that make sense? If MS won't support Windows Phone, who will??

Fixed header working fine for desktop but not for windows phone

I have my website in asp.net with master page. I have used below css for header div of my website to make it fixed.

This is working fine for desktop. But on mobile, I can only see my 50% of width of the header. On the right side of 50%, nothing is cmg. As in just white background is cmg. On the right side, I have a button which when I click is working. To say, controls are
not visible but they are working if u manage to click at the exact place. Any fix for this?
I want to add that this problem is coming only in windows phone. So need fix for that.

My guess here is that your site may be running into a compatibility mode or different versions of IE on desktop and on Windows Phone, but you don't provide enough information about which versions of IE you are using. Windows Phone 8 uses IE 10 (similar to
Windows 8).
The folks in the
Windows Phone IT Pro forums are likely to know more about the Windows Phone IE specifics, and the folks in the IE or ASP.Net forums will know more about how to target your HTML for different versions.

Desktop skype client on windows 8.1 microphone not working suddenly

Please help me! Until yesterday my desktop client worked perfectly on windows 8.1, use it all the time for work. However yesterday afternoon the microphone suddenly stopped working and no one can hear me. I haven't done any updates to anything etc. Microphone works perfectly in other apps, including sound recorderrunning latest versionwindows 8.1Microphone is enabled and skype is allowed to use ittest call doesn't record any sounds and the bar which shows when there is sound just stays right at the bottom. I am having the same problem. I can hear everyone but no one can hear me. Sometimes the people on the other side might be able to hear me very very very softly. I tried changing the microphone settings in my phone but no luck. One thing that did solve the proplem temporarlily is going to control panel, shut off the microphone and turning it back one. Restarting skype and rejoining the call. However this is not a perminant solution. The next call gave me the same issue. What is the deal with this? Please help. Might be a windows issue?

Desktop up grade for Windows 7

HP parent of Palm should provide the funding to update the palm desktop so that it runs correctly on windows 7 and future OS's.
1) Palm Desktop has a huge following and is by far more secure than the "Web Based" solutions that the phones are using.
2) Palm used to update the palm desk top with the evolutions of the various windows OS's.
3) HP has lately taken the approach to not update device software with the application of new OS's (IE My 1 year old all in one machine by HP works at a marginal level with basic windows 7 drivers). HP has not provided a SW update or plans to. I have bought a Brother to replace my HP office jet 6110.
4) Even if the software had a fee, I think the handhold community would pay for an upgrade, I know I would.
5) HP needs to wake up and support the Palm Community, as new OS's come on line, or their customer base will dwindle to other companies who do.

Skype problems for Windows 8

Does anyone know why every time I go to load up Skype it crashes and says that it can not load and has to close down the program?

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Migrating from palm desktop 4.2 for windows to ical

I am attempting to migrate my calendar and task information from my palm desktop 4.2 software on a windows xp machine to my brand-spankin' new iMac. The calendar file export type doesn't import into ical. I'm not even sure which application the task(to-do list) and memo(notes) data from palm desktop would be most appropriate to import into on the iMac, but I would like to migrate that data, too.
I did successfully migrate my contacts info from Palm Desktop into the Address Book on my IMac. Hooray!

Exporting Palm Calendar (Date Book): you should have in the Export dialog box the option of changing the export format from "Palm Desktop" to "vCal".
vCal (.vcs) files will import into iCal. You can also bring them into Entourage (not through the Import dialog box, but by dragging the .vcs file onto the Entourage icon in the dock).
You will almost certainly lose category information, if you were using any.
Exporting Palm Addresses: choose the vCard format, which Apple's Address Book will recognise (ditto Entourage if you take that option). But I see you've succeeded with that part.
Exporting Tasks: this gets tricky as Apple doesn't have a stand alone tasks or to do app and the to do function in iCal is a bit underwhelming. You'll be able to export Palm Tasks in "Tab & Return" format, which means you could open them in a word processing or spreadsheet program. I doubt you'd be able to get them into iCal with any ease. You may have better luck importing tasks into Entourage, which does have a proper Tasks function, but that's not something I've tried to do.
Exporting Notes/Memo: as with Tasks, your option is using the "Tab & Return" format. You may need a 3rd-party notes program if you don't want to use Entourage Notes.

New skype download for windows

Hi,Everytime I open skype I am told that there is a new skype version available to download. I already have downloaded this version but to open skype, I must download it again. When I sign in I cannot skype anyone unless I redownload the same new version! I am at my wits end!
