Desktop Software 7.1 Install Error
I'm getting the following error when installing the latest Desktop Software onto a new Windows 7 (64 Bit) laptop:
"Some of the installation files from the previous versions of the software could not be removed. Make sure that no other application is using these files."

Go to Solution.Hi there!
I agree...a full start over is in order. And, for your easier reference, here is the procedure that I give out.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

Please helpI have a problem with my Palm IIIxe syncronization via Keyspan's serial adapter to USB. Prior to installation of 10.4.7 the whole kludge worked (ah, the beauty of Mac hardware & software) and the my old PowerMac G4 connected fine. Now, it fails. The hardware connection is good, as pushing the 'Hotsync' button on my Palm's cradle actives the HotSync Manager 3.1 & a screen pops up informing me of the start. Unfortunately, it does not progress from there & the Palm times out saying there was a failure to communicate.

Blackberry desktop software cannot update my error 507 9800touch phone
my blackberry desktop software cannot update and load an os to the phone. i have error 507 which means there is no os on my phone as i read somewhere. but the problem is.... i have tried all the intruction on the solution on error507 but to no avail. the device software alwas says " "There is no BlackBerry® Software available." with Cancel, Update and Retry option. If I choose to Update the software it will say that no software is available... i even tried downloading the os6 for my fone and used the loader but it gets stuck at the last process with the same message "There is no BlackBerry® Software available.
i have read around but no solutions. please help as am desperateHello,
Please check carefully these instructions, most importantly the part about deleting VENDOR.XML file(s).
1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Now, use this process:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
freexrythem wrote:
"There is no BlackBerry® Software available."
Most often, that message is the result of one (or more) of the following:
There is no BB OS package installed to the PC, and there is nothing available from the carrier (as represented by the VendorID hardcoded into the device)
There is a BB OS package installed to the PC, but it is from a different (per VendorID) carrier, and the VENDOR.XML file(s) have not been deleted (which causes the installed package to be ignored)
There is more than one BB OS package installed to the PC...which can confuse the Loader tool
Good luck!

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a lenovo thinkpad. Anyone know how to fix this? Some suggestions: go to the list of downloads for the T500/W500 series and look at the list of problem fixes for the most recent and prior BIOS updates for your machine (look for the "Summary of Changes" section 2/3rds into the document). If you are still using an older BIOS version and a fix is listed for something like your problem--the descriptions are really minimalistic, so it's not easy to judge--then you might want to consider a BIOS upgrade.
Since a BIOS update affects a truly critical part of your notebook, and a mistake can lead to a totally disabled machine, reading the NOTES section of that document is essential before updating the BIOS: there may be prerequisites to doing it correctly.
Usually just using the ThinkVantage System Update application is the most simple way of doing the update. BIOS updates, if they are available for your particular machine, are listed on the "Optional" tab in the application. It is wise to temporarily disable any active anti-virus or malware scanning software before doing any Lenovo Updates, and especially so before a critical update like the BIOS.
If you use the Intel AMT features, then probably you should also update the firmware/software for that as well, since it ties into the rest of the BIOS. (Again, thoroughly examining the updates' Notes document is essential before proceeding.)
I hope this helps. -
Creative Cloud Desktop app won't install error 207; Adobe server?
Is there a problem with some of Adobe.com servers? My employer just purchased a CC subscription for my work Mac, and the CC Desktop App won't install. I've restarted my Mac, quit all Adobe products, redownloaded the DMG file (creativecloudinstaller.dmg), and checked to make sure my firewall is off. But I still get an error message #207. My DNS servers are set to the same ones that other Macs in my group are set to, and they have CC on their Macs.
I don't know if it's related, but I can't load "adobe.com" in my browser, either. All other webpages are fine, including (obviously) this forum.
I am using OS 10.8.5, connected via Ethernet, and my browser is Chrome.Thank you for your help, Ned. I also called Adobe help via phone, and he confirmed that my company's server needed to whitelist several Adobe sites. The company had revised their servers not long ago, and evidently did not transfer their old whitelists (which is why my coworkers had previously been able to access Creative Cloud). The phone support person emailed me a helpful list that I could forward to our company's tech support center—but the link you supplied in your response was also perfectly relevant.

Cannot Download Desktop Software for PC - 404 Error!
Hi All - I have tried to use the Feedback option for the Web Admin but my emails keep bouncing because the RIM system seems to think my feedback does not fit via email. So, here is the message I was trying to send in to RIM to help get to the bottom of this. Anyone feel free to pipe up and let me know what is going on or offer some suggestions... I'm totally open to anyone's help at this point. Thanks!

I get the “HTTP 404 Not Found” when I click on the <Download> button on the page. The Browser I am using is IE 8. When I used Chrome to try this download, the 404 error came up and displayed the following HTTP path with the error:

Can you please let me know if this is a BB RIM website issue?
FYI – I can get the downloader to start downloading the MAC .dmg file without a problem. Thanks for your help!
Cheers!Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Interesting...well, I am downloading it right now with no 404, which would I think rule out a problem at the RIM webisite end. So, the only thing I can think of is that there is something in your internet routing that is somehow blocking it. Maybe you should start over from this point:
http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
I was also going to comment that RIM does not yet support Desktop Software 7.x, but that seems to have changed sometime today!
Good luck!

Blackberry Desktop Software version 7 Synchronization Error
I get the following error while synchronizing my Outlook calendar
"CRRecurringl:: SetRecurringDates: Start date is invalid".
I did not have any problems synchronizing prior to upgrading Blackberry Desktop to version 7.I had the same problem. This is what I found out and how to fix it. Tech Support at RIM walked me through it though it took awhile.
From browsing online, it seems this problem occurs when you change from two way sync in the Desktop Software to one way, then change back to two way. To fix it, you need to first make sure you have all of your information current in Outlook. Then, go into the Desktop Software and under Device choose Delete Data. You can then Select Data and choose only Calendar. After that is done, do another sync, and everything should be okay. -

You seem perhaps to already have tried at least some of what is discussed in this thread, but I cannot tell if you've truly tried it all...therefore, I suggest this thread:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Otherwise, it really sounds like you have some major conflict or issues with your Windows OS itself. While quite rare, it's not unheard of needing to completely reinstall Windows so as to get things working well. But, before you resort to that, you should do all of the normal Windows stuff -- Windows updates, check all of your apps for updates, run registry cleansers, run full virus scans, run malware detectors, etc. etc. etc. This very much sounds like a PC/Windows problem more than a Desktop Software problem.
Good luck!
