Desktop Software BB Torch wont run

Please help!!! I can download and save the BB desktop software to the destop, but it WILL NOT RUN !! Error message is:"Installation files cannot be validated. Please verify installer package and try again." I have uninstalled and re downloaded severa times, to no avail.

Hi there,
Where exactly did you download the Desktop Software from? What you're describing suggests that you are not downloading the full file for some reason.
Try rebooting your computer, then once it boots back up, try redownloading the file. If you were using FireFox before, try downloading with Internet Explorer, just in case that can be a cause.
Do you still have the same problem after this?

  • Desktop software for Torch 9800

    Hi there
Have downloaded the desktop software for Torch 9800 for use on new PC with Windows 8.1 and each time it synchronises (only doing calendar and contacts one way from device to PC in outlook) the desktop programe  crashes half way through.  Help please.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I've seen multiple posts from folks on Windows 8.1 having various issues. My suspicion is compatibility...refer:
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop/desktop-pc/system-requirements.html
As you can see, it states Windows 8, but not 8.1. Hence, my suspicion is that the current versions of the Desktop Software are not compatible with 8.1, and hence cannot be expected to provide proper functionality.
    Good luck!

  • BLACKBERRY DESKTOP SOFTWARE 7.1 WONT COMPLETE INSTALLATION

I use windows 7 32bit.. the problem i'm having is BlackBerry desktop software 7.1 won't finish installing.. a pop-up keeps coming up wen it's almost finished installing. the pop-up says "Error 1723. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action RepairRimUsbDriverNT.191E20C_5A62_43E3_B035..." .... all this started wen I tried to upgrade from my previously installed 6.0 desktop software from the blackberry.com site... the upgrade failed and I started having issues.. I uninstalled 6.0 but it wouldn't unintal fully.. so I deleted all RIM Folders from registry and all and downloaded d 7.1 desktop software from blackberry.com but it won't finish installing... Pls Pls pls... some one help me sort this out.

Well I did not as I only have this vista on my laptop moreover, it was working fine earlier probably the older version n after the update it stopped working somehow. I have tried number of times to install and uninstall and reinstall with even deactivating my antivirus and user controls and ran as adminisitrator also but to no good.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software shuts down when running Sprint Smart View Internet Service (Air Card)

Just installed Blackberry Desktop Software and it runs ok when I am not running Sprint Smart View (This is my program for my internet service / sprint air card).  As soon as I start Sprint Smart View the desktop software no longer works and just shuts itself down after a minute or two.

I'm not familiar with this particular package, but with similar packages from other carriers there's usually a setting that lets the program control your Network - it may only say Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry drivers include a Dial-Up connection which is probably getting shut down by the software which kills Desktop Manager.
If you turn off that option, the problem should go away (reboot probably a good idea).

  • Minimize Desktop software to System Tray, not to Taskbar?

I'm not usually a technical dunce... but I can't find the option switch for this seemingly obvious request.
I want to have Desktop software (6.0.0) running whenever I have my computer active; but I don't want to have it take up space on my taskbar (Windows Vista Home Premium).  I'd like it instead to minimize to an icon in the System Tray.  But I can't figure out how to make that happen.
When I minimize the software, it continues to appear as a button on the taskbar.
If I click the Close button (red X) as some programs use, the software closes completely.
What obvious place am I missing to be able to make this happen?
    Thanks for your help.
    Barbara

Thanks, Parlabane.  I'm disappointed to know that the feature isn't there; but I guess it's some comfort to know that I'm not quite as much of a dunce as I feared I was.
Will hope for a development team that catches this BGO (Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious) from their users.

  • BB desktop software stopped working

I recently started having issues with my blackberry desktop software. I'm running Windows XP on my machine & using a BB Bold 9900 (non-bes) on T-Mobile (software 7.1.0 bundle 2508). Prior to this error, I was using BB desktop software without any issues since late 2011. Although no longer involved, I've been in the wireless industry for 22 year & have been a longtime user/supporter of BB. I was able to do my daily sync on weds 1/15/2014 no problem. When I tried to do it again on thurs, I had issues. The software opens then freezes up when I plug my device in. I left things be until the weekend then tried removing/reinstalling the desktop software. That didn't resolve my issue as then the software wouldn't even open. I tried doing a few system restores to an earlier date (1/14, 1/13 & 1/12) to no avail. I also found the article Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES) http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-... on your support forum. I followed all the instructions of this article for a clean reinstall with no luck. The only thing can think of is my system did an auto update Weds night of Adobe Reader & Microsoft Windows. Any thoughts for me? I'm stumped. Device still works flawlessly. Thanks!

I guess that you are using the latest software available for BDS.
From what I see there, this could indeed come from a corrupt file on your MB Pro.
I would suggest to uninstall completely the BDS software and to be sure that all related files have been deleted too. This is probably the most "challenging part". If I remember correctly there is an uninstaller provided with the disk image, so use this one and then search for any other BDS file using Spotlight or the shareware "AppZapper" which is used to delete all files related to a specific software at once!
If you say that it is working perfectly on another computer, the phone is not the cause of the problem logically.
A good idea is also to repair the permissions on your Mac starting up from the original DVD and using the disk utility software. This will help your Mac anyway
    Hope this helps.

  • Latest version of Blackberry Desktop software

I am trying to determine if version 4.3.0.15 (Aug. 15, 2007) is the latest version of the Blackberry Desktop software. I am running Vista and Outlook 2007 and cannot synchronize my mail between the Blackberry and Outlook. I am only able to update my calendar and contacts by doing a one-way sync from the destop to the Blackberry. Any suggestions? Thanks!

After reading though this thread again, it seems I misunderstood part of it, my apologies. I dont think it is a corrupt calendar as you can sync from pc to the bb with no issues. Perhaps simply deleting the intellisync folder would help. Try this KB and see how it works:
How to delete the Intellisync folder if synchronization is unsuccessful
It could also be an issue with your mail profile. You could create a new profile that points to your pst and set the desktop manager to sync with that. If deleting the intellisync folder doesn't do it for you, i can give you more detailed instructions on how to do this so please post the version of outlook you have and your version of windows.
    Cheers!

  • Desktop Software won't run - so I can't transfer from my current Bold to my new Torch 9800

I currently have desktop software operating on Microsoft XP SP2 with a Blackberry Bold. The desktop software was loaded approx 18 months ago.
I have upgraded to a Torch 9800 and wish to transfer my existing info from my Bold onto it via the desktop software. I have attempted to download the latest desktop software but ultimately it ends in a message stating that the application requires XP SP3 to run.
Are there any solutions other than upgrading my OS? An earlier version of desktop software that will work with both XP SP2 and a Torch 9800 perhaps?
    Cheers

Correct, the current Desktop Software does require WindowsXP, service pack 3.

  • BB Desktop Software 6.1 will not run on Windows 7 64-Bit

I wrote to the forum of my problem, and a nice person here told me that I may be having the same problem as others and to repost my question to this link
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/BB-Desktop-Software-6-1-will-not-run-...
I went there and cannot find a button to tick to post to that page, so I went one back and posted my problem in hopes of finding help. BB4matt even told me what my laptop is.  A Genuine Windows 7 home Premium 64 bit Operating System, and that Desktop 6.1 will not run on this system, to copy my problen to the above link, (which I couldn't figure out how to do) or start a new one under the heading I used, that I MIGHT attract a guru of sorts, BB Tech Advisor, ViciousFerret. MR FERRET, please help!
Thank you all so much in advance once again! (Below is my original plea for help.)

    Hi.
I have read in these forums and am still lost.  I know my answer should be in hre somewhere, but if it is I am unable to understand it, so be patient as I may be reasking an already answered question.
I try to be a good lil girl and follow forum rules, but am lost here.
I bought a new laptop, a Dell 17R  It runs Win 7 I think. Lots of ROM/RAM.  I dowloaded the desktop program from bb dot com and cannot get it to work.  First it asked me to trouble shoot, and reconfigured the DT prog for Win XP.
It then acknowledged my Torch and dld my photos.  Then it decided I didn't have space and undid whatever it did.
NOW I cannot get the program, once it opens to recognise my phone at all! ACK!!
I need someone who understands this gobbltygook to explain to me what to do.  I need to unload my photos, as I use my phone to take pix more than I would have thought.
I am a photog, and it's better than my first digital this Torch 9800 is, and video quality, OMG, but the vids are too big to upload from the phone..........(IDK why cuz it did at Christmas?)
Anyway, please help me here, as I can use a computer, e-mail, Facebook, Picassa, other than that, IDK too much about them.  (It took my YEARS to spring for this laptop)
Thank you in advance for your patience.

I have the same issue.  It gets to a desktop manager picture and just freezes.

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software error when trying to run from my computer desktop

Hi: I have installed the BlackBerry Desltop Software ver 6.0 on my Dell Dimension 4700 PC @3.4 GHz which runs Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and has 1GB of RAM.
Each time I have tried to start the software from the desktop icon, I receive an error message saying that BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and need to close.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, how did you resolve it? Any assistacne would be most appreciated as I wish to synch my Torch with Outlook 2003 for contacts and appointments!!
    Thanks

    Hello,
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Desktop Software Can't See My Torch

I can connect to my laptop from my Torch 9800 via Bluetooth. I can connect my Torch to the Blackberry Desktop software via a cable. However, I cannot get my Blackberry Desktop Software (Version 6.1) to see my Torch via Bluetooth therefore cannot connect via Bluetooth. Running Windows 7 64 bit. My Torch is connected to our business server via Blackberry Enterprise Server (not sure if this is relevant). Very frustrating, can someone please help?

As far as I know the country information affects only on language of license text that is shown on installation dialog.
To use this software you can install it even if another country is selected. For example: United States.

  • Torch 9800 Bluetooth pairs to everything except Blackberry desktop software

I've got the 6.0 bundle 2475 desktop software.
My Blackberry Torch is paired to my new HP G72 laptop, running Windows 7 64, via bluetooth. To test that it is actually functional I've backed up my BB from Windows, and seen the file transferred via bluetooth.
When I try to set the Desktop software option to use bluetooth to synch I get a message that: "Your computer does not have the necessary support for bluetooth functionality".
So, whilst I can connect my BB to any and every other device and software I try (so far) I cannot connect it to the BB Desktop software.
    Can anyone help please?

  • Blackberry Desktop Software wont download

I have tried several times with the desktop software for pc and the media sync but it just wont get past 4
    Any ideas?

Hmmm...OK...so you are trying to download, from the official download portal, the RIM Desktop Software, and it is only getting through to 4% in the download process, and is not completing and proceeding into the install process. Do I have that right?
If so, the reasons could be quite wide ranging. Your computer could be locking up. Your local network could be locking up. Your internet connection could be clogged. The internet itself could be sluggish. The RIM site could be bogged down. Determining which of these is a network diagnostic challenge...
Basically, if other downloads from other sources work fine for you, then I'd say keep trying. If no downloads are working for you, then you'd need to look at all of the non-RIM related possible causes.
    Good luck!
