Desktop software causes Windows 7 to crash

I have been using Desktop Software for ages now, very successfully on the Windows XP Pro platform.  I have now changed to Windows 7 Pro.  Although I have downloaded and installed the latest Desktop software build, which is supposed to be Windows 7-compatible, it is certainly not on my machine.
What happens is this:  When I first install the Desktop software, and start it, and use it to sync with Outlook, it works fine.  Eventually of course I shut down the computer at the end of the session.
The problem occurs when I next trry to boot up.  Every time I do this I get a blue screen crash long before any welcome screen appears.  The blue screen doesn't last long enough for me to read what it says but the effect is clear - no boot until a repair of some sort is done.  I have found that the only way to achieve a successful boot after this is to take the repair option and then the restore option to a time before installing the Blackberry Desktop software.
This has happened so many times now, with other software and hardware being installed at different times perfectly successfully.  Only Blackberry Desktiop software causes these crashes.  I have gone through this process at least a dozen times now, all with exactly the same effect.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here?

ive recently run into this problem as well with windows 7 on my gf's pc. both got 9700 bold's mine worked out fine with vista, but her comppy wont boot. bout as far as i can get from school is to walk her through booting into safe mode to uninstall the bb app til i can get home lol.. kinda screwwy that i cant really find much useful information about it in the past hour or so
about the only thing that has shown up was a 'problem signature 07' screen saying badpatch.. apparently no decent error code to lookup.. help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First off, you must have installed one of the compatible Desktop Organizer apps:
KB12268Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows for synchronization
Attempting to use anything NOT on that list will, of course, fail.
Secondly, you must have not have Outlook installed as "Click To Run":
KB24040 Support for Microsoft Office 2010 Click-to-Run installation
If you have it installed in that manner, you must correct that.
I have no idea how your prior machine was configured, but I know 100% that you can synchronize to a Win7X64 Laptop with Outlook 2010...I do it all the time.
    Good luck!

  • Desktop software 6.0.1 crashes

I do not get any logs for the desktop software but have this windows event view.
    EventType clr20r3, P1 rim.desktophelper.exe, P2 6.1.0.36, P3 4eb85344, P4 presentationframework, P5 3.0.0.0, P6 4bb2dd31, P7 625d, P8 e1, P9 system.windows.markup.xamlparse, P10 NIL.
I have tried several renames of .dll files that were suggested as fixes. Even tried te reigional language change whch did not fix problem.
Any ideas as to what is causing this?

It sounds like you are having some general PC problems thats causing the desktop manager to crash.  I can't analyze the dmp file, but is there a PC support person available to look at this?  I'd want to uninstall the blackberry desktop manager, manaully check for and delete any folders associated with the desktop software, manually delete all references from the registry that have the words "research in motion" and "blackberry" and do a registry cleaner using ccleaner.  I'd then reboot, run windows update and then reinstall the desktop manager.

  • Desktop Software causing Blue Screen!?

    Hey Peeps,
I hope there's someone out there that can help with this. I have a BlackBerry Curve with BlackBerry Desktop Software version 6.1 installed. Every time I connect my BlackBerry through the Desktop Software, my computer crashes with a blue screen. It doesn't matter whether you restart the computer or not, the same error appears. What I have noticed is that my processor usage goes up to 100%, and the temperatures of both cores exceeds 75 degrees during the connection. After that, the system crashes. Also, it is not because of the heat or processor usage that the system crashes (system is set to auto-sleep on 95 degrees).
I tried connecting to my BB from both of my systems but no luck. I have also tried downgrading the application by uninstalling the latest version and installing the older version (v6.0). For some reason I can get hold of the older version 5.0. Is there anyone that is experiencing the same problem or maybe have a solution to this problem?
    My system configurations:
    Primary System:
    AMD Athlon X2;
    4GB RAM;
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64
    Secondary System:
    Intel Core i5;
    4GB RAM;
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    Solved!

  • IPhone causes Windows to crash immediately when Camera app is on...

I sync my iPhone with two computers: an iMac for music, videos & photos, and my Dell Inspiron D860 running Windows XP for my work e-mail, contacts, and calendar.
If I have taken a photo with the iPhone and either leave my iPhone in Camera mode, or have even left any photos in the "Camera Roll" album in the Photos app, then my Windows PC crashes immediately when I hook the camera up for a sync. As soon as the USB cable makes a connection, I get an instant blue screen: informing me of a BIOS memory error and a message saying that Windows is shutting down to prevent further damage. So, I disconnect the iPhone and reboot the computer.
However, if I delete any images in the Camera Roll album of Photos and make sure that the iPhone is not running Camera when I plug it in, I can sync between the iPhone and iTunes on Windows XP flawlessly.
The irony here is that I have left the sync Photos box unchecked in iTunes on the Dell running XP. So, technically, nothing in the Camera or Photos apps on my iPhone should even be communicating with software on the XP system.
Have other folks experienced this problem? If not, perhaps I'm doing something wrong and would appreciate any insights!!
    Thanks

    I finally nailed it.
i have a Acer Aspire notebook with orbicam and i had the latest driver from ACER but still had some problems on XP but deleted everything (Orbicam drivers and camera utility from Control Panel) also i verified that everything was gone in MY PC / Properties / Hardware / Device Manager / Imaging Devices (if not, uninstall the Orbicam from there.
then i restarted my computer and installed Logitech Quickcam utility version 10.5 from logitech site (from the Quickcam 4000) that i previously downloaded, everything went ok.. i restarted again my computer and my camera worked perfecty and also i was able to connect my iphone with photos in camera roll and XP detected it normally without any trouble. The only thing that came out after doing this is that my Orbicam appears in the SAFE DEVICE REMOVAL UTILITY right next to the other utility icons and the clock. i will try to solve this and post any coments.
I hope this info is useful for others like me with this issue.

  • Desktop software and windows 8

When I launch desktop software (6.0 bundle 2647), it does not find my Torch 9800.  I am using Windows 8, 64 bit.  How can I sync my Outlook with my Bberry??

HI and Welcome to the Community!
Please refer to this to be sure you've properly done what is required:
KB32926 Support for BlackBerry Desktop Software on Microsoft Windows 8
    Also, this might be helpful:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Otherwise, I would suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over (though I've no idea how to modify the instructions for Windows 8), and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, but those likely won't work for you given Windows 8. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

  • Desktop software and Windows xp

Hi, can anyone help me I am trying to download the drivers for the desktop software but it is not working. I am running windows xp sp3 32 bit. and a BB Torch 9800. I have uninstalled my previous BB desktop software and was hoping by installing a newer/different version that I might finally be able to sync my BB with my desktop.
    Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Sadly, from merely "it is not working", there is little to deduce...you'd need to tell us exactly the steps you attempt and exactly the results of each step, including the exact and complete content of any error messages presented to you. But, from "it is not working", there really is no way to make any sort of guess that would help you.
Nevertheless, perhaps some of the things in this thread will be of use to you:

  • BB Desktop Software on Windows 7 beta

I got a new Blackberry Storm and am having a difficult time tryig to install the drivers AND the desktop software ( Media Manager) that comes with it on my HP comp using Windows 7 beta. It DID install easily on my Gateway Laptop with the same Windows 7 beta  ? ?     Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I am not at all familiar with Windows 7 beta.
If it comes with a Windows update function you can try the following
that works on XP and Vista machines.
    Thanks,
    Bifocals
    1) Power the PC off and then on so it boots cleanly
    2) Plug the USB cable into the BB and into the PC
    3) Run Windows Update on the PC
    4) Windows should find the correct driver for the BB and install it.
    5) Disconnect the BB and reboot.
    6) Connect the BB, open My Computer and the media card should
be reflected as a removable drive.
    7) If you can see the device correctly, then unplug the BB start DM and
reconnect the BB and Configure synch.

Was it working before or it's never worked?

  • 6.2 palm desktop software for windows 8

I just purchased a new tungsten e2 brand new not knowing that the software wouldn't load on windows 8! Is there some way around this so I can use my new palm and all it's devices I can't load 6.2 desktop software on the computer so it's useless hopefully somebody can help please!!

Hello Mech7010, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The E2 was discontinued many years ago - I'm surprised you found a "brand new" one...
Palm Desktop 6.2 does run on Win8.  Please view the sticky post at the top of this section titled, "64bit Windows USB drivers for Palm Desktop".   You will need to download and install new drivers.  Follow the directions in the post.
