Desktop Software Crashes While Syncing... after initial reboot

This not my phone, I only have to make it work here in the office.
Device:  Tour 9630
Carrier:  Sprint
OS:  Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit
Email:  Outlook 2010, 32-bit
I can install the desktop software and get the phone to sync with Outlook Calendar and Address book just fine.
I can then sync and sync and sync all day... until I reboot the PC.
Then when I sync the desktop software will begin crashing at some point during the sync.  Sometimes during the address book sync, sometimes during the calendar sync, and sometimes immeadiately.
Now if I close and restart the desktop manager and try again, it might work, it might not.
I'm not sure why it would sync fine right after setup but after reboot I have problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hey theknight571,
Welcome to the forums.
Try doing a clean uninstall of the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Then reinstall it in an admin account on the PC. http://bbry.lv/rbGsYK Once this is completed configure and try to sync again to see if you have the same issue.

  • Desktop software crashing on Calendar sync

I am starting to get frustrated with the desktop software (4.7) crashing while syncing calendar entries.  I use Outlook 2007, Vista Business 64 and I have an 8310.  I have twice recently experienced this, once with an invitation that apparently had too many people invited, and once apparently with an invitation with an attachment.  Is there something I am missing that can make the desktop software more robust when syncing calendar entries?
I have been able to resolve these issues only after going through the instructions to increase data logging and then digging through the end of the log files.  This is too painful to do on a regular basis.

I too have had similar issues with a few users here. It is never an easy find.
DM 5.0 is coming soon. Maybe it will take care of your issues and mine.

  • SOLVED: BB Desktop software crashes when device is connected

I had been having a problem where my desktop software crashed whenever I plugged in my Bold 9700 and I figured out a solution so I thought I would share it. FYI I'm using Blackberry Desktop Software v6.0.0.43 on Windows XP SP3.
I found there is a logfile at C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Rim.Desktop.Exception.log and the last entry was:

I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop software to no avail. Finally I tried deleting the E:\BlackBerry\system\Media Sync\bbMusicSync.settings file from my Blackberry and still it did not work. The solution was that I had to delete the \Media Sync\ folder itself. I reinstalled BB desktop and plugged in my Blackberry and it all ran fine. You will have to set up all your sync settings and whatnot again. I hope this helps someone out.

Thks for your quick reply.  I cannot open any devices or apps in "my comptr" while playbook is plugged in.  The screen greys and Windows stops responding.  I can open "devices & printers" right click on BB cd drive then click on find new drivers. Windows says I already have most current drivers installed.  I have an older laptop running Win XP. with no problems connecting to PB.   My issue seems simular to those addressed in a later post by prochejr.  This appears to be a Win 7 prob.  Log in "trouble shooting" tells me application (BB desktop software) has incompatability issues with computer OS.

  • Palm Desktop Software Crashing during Export

Everytime I try to export my address data to a vCard file, the Palm Desktop software crashes and closes without exporting any data. Any ideas why this is occurring? I have tried reinstalling the latest Palm Desktop software without any effect. I am using a Mac (OS X 10.4.x).
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Verizon)

I am also crashing when exporting the vcard files, not when exporting tab files (tab text useless anyhow); palmdesktop did not crash with my wife's Vcard file however, so I suspect some files are not compatible with the format for export, maybe for example with files without first names? If I find solution, will post (more than a thousand readers are looking at this problem: IPhone buyers like me?)

  • Desktop Software requiring re-install after each sync

Why do I have to re-install the desktop software after each sync? I have done this over four times and it is getting very frustrating. I have tweeted for support...still waiting...Is anyone else have this problem?

    Hello,
That's a rather odd result...can you provide more details? What exactly tells you that you must reinstall each time?
Have you tried the clean start over? I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
    Good luck!

  • Desktop Software crashes when clicking on "Configure Settings"

    Hi,
I am a Blackberry newbie having bought my first one yesterday: a Bold 9780.
I installed the Desktop Software that came with the CD on my notebook running Windows 7 Professional. When Desktop Software started up after installation, I immediately got an error message that said "Rim.Desktop.Autoupdate has stopped working" and it then tries to search for a solution which didn't work.
However, Desktop Software managed to open up nicely despite that problem. In the main window, I went through the setup procedure as prompted. But when I got to "Organizer" and click on "Configure Settings...", it will attempt to do so but will crash with a message saying "Black Berry Desktop Software has stopped working". I have tried it several times and had the same response.
I have spent close to 8 hours through the night reading through all the message and forums here and on other websites and have tried countless ideas: clean uninstall and reinstall, register DLL files, etc. but nothing works. I have even tried installing the previous version 5.0.1 which also has some issues with being unable to open device database or something like that.
Getting this desktop software working is very important as I need to import all my work contacts from Outlook 2007 to my new 9780.
I am really at my wits end and would appreciate any help.
    Thanks so much.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried the steps mentioned at the sites you linked but none of them helped at all. Upon further searching, I found a KB article mentioning that the crashing issue has been escalated with no solution as yet. It recommended that DM 5.0.1 be used instead.
So I did a clean uninstall of Desktop Software 6, downloaded DM 5.0.1 and went through the setup as documented. Did a sync and encountered a new problem. I check through and found some articles that recommended I try to narrow down the problem. I managed to sync my "task" and "notes" list on Outlook 7 with the BB Bold 9780 with no issues. But when I tried to sync the "Calendar" and "Address Book", it failed. Opening the log file, I discovered this error:

Again I googled it and came up with nothing that worked. Stuff I tried:
    1) Cleared the database using the "Advanced" function in "Backup and Restore" but that didn't help either.
    2) Deleted the "IntelliSync" folder and re-configured the sync and tried it again. Nada.
    3) Created a new empty profile on Outlook 2007 with no calendar or address book entries just in case there are some corrupted entries there, reconfigured DM 5.0.1 to sync from that and overwrite all data on my Bold 9780 and that didn't work either.
    4) To be sure, I even tried to sync from Yahoo. And those DM did successfully log in, the same error as above pop up.
I would hazard a guess that DM 5.0.1 is not able to open the Bold 9870's database. Not sure why.
I think I should mention at this point that I am using Windows 7 Pro Edition and Outlook 2007. I am not using any enterprise nor any wireless sync. All I am trying to do is to get my address book and calendar entries onto that DARN Bold 9780 with the supplied cable.
I am thinking that maybe DM 5.0.1 may not be able to access the database on my Bold because it's running OS6.
    Any ideas?

  • Palm Desktop Software Crashed

I recently got a new laptop running Windows 7 and installed the 6.6.2 Palm desktop software so the palm could sync using bluetooth. It worked fine for a month and then it crashed in the middle of a hotsync and the program will not open. I did a clean uninstall, including the registry and reinstalled Desktop and it will not open. During the install, it asked me to do a hotsync and it appeared to work. I tried running as administrator and running in compatibility mode, still no good. Someone on this forum suggested that it was a windows update and that we should reset computer back to initial settings and turning off windows update. I am not going to do that. My wife is attached to her Palm and I need to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you set the HotSync conduit to use "USB" in Palm Desktop?
When you plug in the Palm E2, does your computer recognize it and make a noise?
Make sure you are not plugging it into a "hub", but directly into the PC.
Aceeca only offers a patch - I'm not sure why you uninstalled Palm Desktop!
Be sure when you open the Device Manager on your computer that the Palm E2 is still active, and not "gone to sleep".
When all else fails, a Clean Uninstall and Reinstall can usually fix most issues (as long as your USB ports are working correctly on the PC).

  • Windows 7 and Desktop software not auto-syncing

I have a BB Bold 9700, Windows 7 Ultimate, and latest desktop software from BB site.  The issue is that the sync doesn't start when device connected.  I have to manually initiate the sync and it works fine.   When I was using Windows XP and I connected my device, the hardware was detected and the sync process started automatically...as it should.  I have ensured that the "synchronize the selected items when your device is connected to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager" is selected.  I even disabled that, shut it down, restarted it and reenabled it to see if that would work and it didn't.  As I said, the phone syncs fine when initiated manually, but it won't start on its own.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Desktop Software 6 Not Syncing Properly

    Hello -
    Desktop Software 6.0.0.43
    Microsoft Office Outlook  2007
    Blackberry Curve 8520 v5.0.0.822
    Carrier T-Mobile
I successfully installed the newest version of the desktop software. The initial sync went fine, and all my calendar entries, contacts, and notes synced. However, since the initial sync,  the desktop software never detects any changes in the Outlook information.  I don't get any error messages, and the sync appears  to run completely - it's just the information does not change on my device. I have tried changing the direction in which the sync goes, with no luck.
I should point out that this only occurs when I change the information in Outlook. When I make changes on my device and sync, the desktop software does detect the change and sync the information correctly. I have my settings now at 2 way sync, and to ask me about any conflicts but still get the same results when I make changes in Outlook.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • BB 9700 - Desktop Manager Crashing when Sync'ing Address Book

    Hi all,
At work, we use Novell Groupwise. Calendar syncs fine, but BB Desktop Manager crashes when I sync addresses. I can load one-way from the computer to the BB, but not the other way. I may have a corrupt address, but haven't been able to get it all to work. What do I do to stop this?
    thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
First, make sure that the version of GroupWise you are using is compatible with the version of the RIM DTM software that you are using:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
Assuming it is so, then the next steps will depend on the error messages when it "crashes". If you have any text of that, you can try searching for it in the public KBs:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
You also can activate advanced synchronization logging to see if the log provides you with any better information:
KB01451 How to turn on advanced synchronization logging if a wired synchronization fails
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software will not Sync with Outlook

    Hello,
I recently installed Blackberry Desktop Manager 7.1 for Windows on a PC and it will not allow me to sync with outlook calendar, memos and contacts.  It will however sync windows Contacts, if I try to select the option to sync with calendar or memos it gives me an error that now compatible software can be found and to visit blackberry.com/desktop/docs.  I am running Outlook 2010 32bit in Windows 7 with the latest Blackberry desktop software.  I am not to familiar with Blackberry so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well I believe I have figured out the answer to my own question, I ended up having to do a repair installation for Office 2010 and I was able to sync from outlook to the Blackberry.

  • Palm Desktop Software crashes immediately upon opening

    Hi All,
My Palm Desktop software won't open.  When I try to open it (either w/ the icon or the start menu), I see the Palm Desktop logo, then the program seems to open but all I see is a whitescreen, and an almost immediately error message from windows that reads "Microsoft OS Desktop Application has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  Then the only option I have is to click "close," and the program closes out.  So its impossible to open the softare.
Interestingly, the hotsync operation still works.  The desktop application just won't open.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still the problem persists.  I have read a few places to remove the US Robotic registry keys, but after looking them up using REGEDIT off the Run menu, I can't find them....maybe I am not doing a complete uninstall, and am not completely removing these keys?  Does anyone have a comprehensive list of registry key locations?  Or maybe its a problem with windows?  I am using Vista.  I tried a system restore back to a point in time when the Palm Desktop was working, but even after that I had no luck.
Does anyone have a suggestion of what I should do?
    Thank you!

If this is your first Palm device, you will not see registry keys for either USRobotics or PalmOne. These entries are relevant to users who have upgraded devices and installed newer versions of Palm Desktop over older installs for the old devices.
There are a number of threads posting complete uninstallation directions; use the search function (up top when you exit this thread) on Registry and you should be able to find one or more of them.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software crashes on startup

I am running Windows XP on an Intel-based Mac through Boot Camp.  I have only recently had this issue and cannot resolve it.  I have Blackberry Desktop Software installed on my Mac as well and it runs fine, but I also need it for the Windows side because my company runs Lotus Notes and they subscribe to Blackberry Enterprise Server, so I need to routinely sync my phone with my Lotus Notes Contacts and calendar.
    Here is what I receive:
"Blackberry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close."
    Error signature
    Event type: clr20r3
    P1: rim.desktop.exe
    P2: 6.0.1.18

    P4: microsoft.practices.composite

The actually "error report contents" are very long.  The strange thin g is that under "error report contants" it shows the "system info" as Windows NT build 5.1, very strange

Same situation, same problem. ?? I only tried to use my Parallels windows instal becaue my mac version desktop software refused to delete applications or update. What is up with Blackberry and macs?
