Desktop software upgrade April 11,2012

I just did desktop software update for my Blackberry Torch and when i sync it delated my music, pictures contacts and calender. Am I doing someting wrong. I have change no setting in my Syncing.

The old version of Blackberry Desktop Manager was 6.1.0.35 B34, before attempting the update to 7.0.0.59 B60. I have downgraded to DM  6.1.0.35 B34 because of the problems posted above with DM 7.0.0.59 B60.  The version of DM  6.1.0.35 B34 is working like it should no problems, no errors and no lock ups.  Hopefully, RIM will fix the new version of DM soon!!

I have a new computer with Windows Vista.  It seems to be having a problem with the desktop software version 4.3.  Should I go ahead and upgrade directly to version 4.7?  Thanks for your help.

Yes, I would recommend you install DM 4.7

  • Bluetooth Headset will not work following upgrade of PC desktop software

Recently I updated my laptop with the latest desktop software in order to allow synchronization between Microsoft Office 2010 and my blackberry tour.
    The sync works!
But now that I have upgraded, I am having a problem with my bluetooth headset.
After syncing my phone to my PC over bluetooth, my bluetooth headset connects to the phone ok but when you try to use it no sound comes through either the headset ear piece or the phone.
So if you try and dial a number, the phone rings where you are calling but you cannot hear the ringing or the person on the other end once they have answered it.
To correct the problem you have to remove the battery from the phone.   Then once you replace the battery and wait 5 - 7 minutes for the phone to re-initialize the headset works just fine.   Until the next time you sync the phone with the laptop of course.   Then the headset stops working again.
I have tried deleting all the bluetooth devices from the phone and re-connecting them.  Does not help.
    Anyone else seeing this problem?
This is my 2nd blackberry.   My 1st was a Perl on T-Mobile. Never had a problem.   But this tour from verizon has be a problem from the start.    Think my next phone is likely to be anything but blackberry!

    Hello ralpha,
I would suggest you back up your BlackBerry data and clear the Bluetooth Options database. Re-Pair your headset and try making calls again.
KB10167 will show you how to clear individual databases.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Device 9700 not detected by recently upgraded desktop software

Recently synced my BBerry for my music. Tried to upgrade the software as prompted on the device. This failed 3 times with a fatal error. Prompted to upgrade the desktop software so I did. All ok. rebooted pc. plugged in the BBerry. Connection ok as photoshop elements downloads thumbnails of the files. Cancel this download. Start BBery DM but it wont recognised the device. Help anyone?

    Hello Jim,
I suggest plugging it in on another system with Desktop Software installed to see if the issue is with the device or specific to your computer.

  • Desktop Software and Core Applications Upgrade

About 2-3 times a week when I link my phone with my Desktop Software, I am told there is an upgrade to the Core Applications software.  I did the upgrade yesterday (Wednesday), and when I connected them again today (Thursday)  it says there is another upgrade available.  Is this normal, or is my software not really installing the upgrade each time?  When I was on the Blackberry site, I had it check my phone and was told there are no updates available.  Is this only checking the OS or does it also check Core Applications software?

Here's how I resolved my issue:
    1. On the DM's Applications page, click the "Import files" button.
    2. Drill down to the folder containing the .alx files of the BB OS. In my case, that would be "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800M_v6.0.0.284_P6.4.0.120"
    3. Select the alx files shown.in the files window..
    4. Click the "Open" button of the dialog box.
    5. Wait for DM to finish processing the selected files.
Voila! Now I see all the apps.
Maybe RIM's software and/or system engineers can explain how the DM software got into the condition where it apparently had not selected the .alx files.

  • Upgraded Desktop Software from 4.1 to 4.3

After upgrading my desktop software from 4.1 to 4.3 I am experiencing issues with synchronizing, in particular with configuring Microsoft Outlook.  Each time I attempt to configure Outlook I receive the following "popup" message; "cannot find system in table file".  What have I overlooked?

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the application.
I recommend installing Desktop Manager v4.2 Service Pack 2. I have had too many issues with v4.3. However, some have got it to work just fine.

  • BB Curve 8310 Not sure how to upgrade handheld OS/Which Desktop Software?, questions

I am a new smartphone user, this is my first.
The OS version I have on my phone now is V4.5.0
Should I upgrade to V4.50.306?  (I have AT&T as my carrier and that is the most current upgrade available.)
What happens when I do the upgrade?
Will I loose any programs on my phone, like Documents To Go, Facebook, Email Accounts I've already set up, or information in my address book?
Which Desktop software should I download? (I have AT&T as my carrier and they list these as the available versions) (I have Windows Vista on my laptop.)
    V6.0.1
    V5.0.0 Service Pack 1 (5.0.1)
    V4.7
    V4.5
Also, how do I run Outlook from my BB and sync to my desktop?  Does this use data to do this?  Am I better off to use the calendar already provided on my phone?  Or are their other options?  I want to be able to sync a calendar on my laptop to my BB (sort of like I do now with my Palm Zire and my laptop.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Ok, that is a lot of questions for one post, but let me take a shot at it.
First download/install desktop software 6.0.1, its the newest, its backwards compatable with all devices and its pretty easy to use.
When you plug your device in, desktop software will let you know if an update is available (only through your carrier though). When you update through desktop software it should preserve all your data.
As for syncing to outlook, you can set up desktop software to syncronize between your BlackBerry and a program on your computer (such as outlook) via your USB cable (not data). It can syncronize 4 things: Address book (aka contacts), Calendar, Tasks (aka to-do list), and memo pad.
    I think I answered everything.
    Any other quesitons?

  • Tungsten T3, resurrected: Upgrading OS & Desktop Software

I've resurected my Tungsten T3 from the abyss after over a year of inactivity.  I recently learned that all it needed was a battery replacement, so I sent it off for same.
Thanks to rhaw from Tech Support, on this forum, a show-stopper issue with hotsyncing was solved.  Now I'm up and running once again, and I'm getting a bit overconfident in that I can have an even better experience with my beloved PDA, .  I'm daring enough to want to not only upgrade the Desktop Software, but the OS itself, if possible.  (PDA & PC data provided below)
First off, after such long inactivity, I don't remember how to determine the OS for this Tungsten T3.  So, if I could get some help with that, it would certainly be appreciated.  Secondly, is it wise to upgrade the palmOne Palm Desktop software?  Here are the specifics:
    PDA: Tungsten T3
    Current Desktop software: Version 4.1.4
    Hotsync Manager:            Version 4.01
    Install Tool App:               Version 4.0.1
    PC: Dell XPS710
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    Service Pack 1 Build 6001
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU   6600  @ 2.40GHz, 2394 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Perhaps I should be wondering why all's well on a Vista machine now, or no?
I will be grateful for any input/insight,
    Captain
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

Okay, I'm a bit embarrassed, but my OS is v.5.2.1.  It was quite easy to find, once I started looking for it . . . under apps/information.  I suppose I've been re-newbied by laying dormant with this T3 for more than a year.  In any event, my original questions stand, which, in effect is, "should I be upgrading the OS and the desktop software now that I'm on a Vista 32bit machine, and if so, how should I proceed?
    Thanks,
    Capt

  • Synchronization failure after upgrade to Desktop Software v.7.0

When trying to synchronize with Outlook after upgrade to Desktop Software v.7.0 got a message "CRADSDatabase ERROR (5211): There is an error converting Unicode string to or from code page string". The other options like device backup, synchronization of images and videos, file transfer, work fine. I am on BB Bold9700 (v.6.0, 2949) and Sony Vaio with Windows 7. The direction of synchronization does not matter and the same error pops up when e.g. only Tasks are attempted to synchronize.  There were no problems with Desktop Software v.6.

I have a few ideas...including the registry cleansing that you did not do, along with the other things in that thread that you may have skipped over.
In addition, hHere is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
    Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • Upgraded desktop software won't start

In a moment of complete insanity I allowed my desktop software to be updated - last time I did this I couldn't sync for over a month.
Naturally the install didn't do smoothly and now the software won't start.....
The processes start, and I can kill them in windows task manager, but the software crashes - I get the 'program has stopped working' message - before it even finishes starting.
Since all my email and calendar applications are web based I shouldn't need to sync at all, my Android tablet doesn't need to, I just point it at my online calendar and hey presto! it's all synced.

I have the exact same issue.  Have already tried reinstalling (repairing) by downloading from website to no avail. Can someone help please?

  • Cannot install Desktop Software since replacing hard drive / upgrading OS

My hard drive on my laptop recently started to fail and so I decided to replace it.  Since I was still running Vista and had a licence available for Windows 7 Pro 64bit available, I decided to switch up to Windows 7 at the same time.
Prior to this I was able to run the desktop software no problem and was able to sync my Torch with Outlook.
Since installing the OS and MS Office, etc I have tried a few times to install the BB Desktop Software (have tried the most recent version as well as version 6.1).  The install appears to go successfully, but when the software launches it creates a window with just the title bar and frame visible; the inside is "transparent", showing what is behind it on the desktop.  No matter how many times I've tried to close and reload the program, reboot, completely uninstall and reinstall the desktop software (both 6.1 and 7.0), I get the same result.
I'm not sure what to do at this point; I've spent enough time customizing Windows7 that I don't really want to go back to Vista and/or try to reinstall Windows 7.  Any ideas or comments?

    Hi pjreid,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
Can you please verify that you are installing the BlackBerry® Desktop Software in a Windows® user account with administrative priviledges? Have you already tried disabling your anti-virus software during the installation of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software?
    Thanks.

  • HP m8430f stuck on "Starting Windows" after April 10, 2012 Microsoft Updates

HP m8430f stuck on "Starting Windows" after April 10, 2012 Microsoft Updates.  Upgraded to Windows 7 X64 from Vista X64 almost two years ago.  Have never had any problems until morning of April 12th.  I will cut to the final resolution to help anyone else who is going through this or will in the future.  After trying to repair Win7, restoring back to factory recovery (got code purple), installing clean Vista 64 and trying upgrade to Windows 7 again, formatting drive using /p:2 option of writing 0's twice to whole drive and then doing a clean install of Win7 only to get to the same place of being stuck at "Starting Windows", I tried a trick I had read about.  Boot to safe mode, you will get an error that you can complete install from safe mode. Don't close window but hit Shift-F10 and a cmd prompt will open.  Type in compmgmtlauncher and choose Device Manager.  Disable the Visx PureTV-U 48B0 under Sound, Video and Game controllers.  Reboot computer and Win7 complete installation.  Since I was able to get into Safe mode back on April 12th, I should have tried disabling everything then, but since it was working without problems before the updates, I couldn't believe that it was any of the devices.  I have not been able to get around this issue with the tv-tuner, but I don't have a need for it right now for it.  I saw a tip to try moving it to another pci slot and I will try that if I ever have a need to open the computer.  Just wanted to document what to do to save others weeks of searching.  If this is a driver issue, I can't believe HP or Windows hasn't come up with a more current driver.  During all of the installs, I never get a yellow triangle for that device or any indication in Event log or anywhere that there was a problem with this device.

I had a similar issue with mine not working properly running Windows 7 Ultimate.   Mine was working just fine for quite some time and then I moved my system into our TV room and hooked it up to the television, and used it there.   Everything worked fine, I then returned it to the normal location but did not plug the IR sensor back in.
I had issues with it, I then plugged it back in and it seemed to be working fine, then started to freeze while we were working on it, it would do this all the time.  I was thinking I had virus, I tried restoring windows to a previous working state.  Upgrading my Virus software and everything.   This was all back in October 2011.  I finally just thought my system was going out after a number of years.
Then the other day for some reason I moved the IR sensor from one plug to the other.  It is currently plugged into the bottom right USB port next to the RJ45 port.   It seems to be working just fine now and I don't have the device you suggested disabled, though I will keep that in mind.
Thanks for you post, Hope mine helps too.

  • Blackberry desktop software non vede profilo outlook 2013

BlackBerry Desktop Software, ver. 7.1.0.37 del 13/12/2012 (pacchetto 39)
BalckBerry Torch 9860, ver. soft. 7.1 pacchetto 2061
Outlook 2013 di Office Home and Business 2013 64 bit (installato da aggiornamento Office 2010 64 bit)
    Windows 8 64 bit
    Grazie
    Saluti
    Roberto Pierini

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Interesting...I actually cannot determine at all why it ever worked for you...the Desktop Software is not compatible with Outlook 2013...refer:
KB12268 Synchronization support for BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
Unless it's Outlook that got upgraded? You were not clear about exactly what was upgraded...but, if it was Outlook, then that would indeed explain it...the upgrade took you to a version of Outlook that is not supported.
Good luck and let us know!

From the Windows Control Panel - Removed the BB Desktop Software and re-booted the PC.  Re-Loaded the full Desktop Software from the BB website.  Still NOTHING - except for the Windows errror.
Dead in the water.  Cannot launch the BB Software to connect and synch BB Storm!  iPhone on Verizon is looking better and better.  Mid-February is NOT coming soon enough.
    Help!

    WaynePharm wrote:
OK  Instead of dueling each other, the issue is my Problem.  If you want to 'duel', please take it off-line.
No one is "dueling" , we are tying to fix your problem.
    Re-stating my Problem:
    1.  I had loaded BB DM6 on a Windows XP PC about 3 months ago with no problems.  In fact, it linked with all aspects of Outlook that I needed  (Calendar, Task and Contacts).  Yeah!!  This did not happen with the 'original' BB DM that I loaded January 2009 when I bought the BB Storm from Verizon, but I lived with this short coming of BB.  Built my calendar and contacts directly into the BB Storm.
So the original installation of the desktop manager software loaded in January 2009 did not correctly function with Outlook.
    2.  OK.  So something happened last week and the BB DM6 will not launch without getting the error message that I put in my 1st Posting of this Problem.
"So something happened". We can only go on your description of the problem. If you have no idea what happened  i couldn't possibly know.  The only "guess" would be an there was an auto update to existing software or you have added software.
    3.  I went to BB and loaded the "Fix" for PC.  Also, this did not Launch BB DM6.
    4.  Unloaded the BB DM6 with the Windows XP Control Panel "Remove Program".  Re-Booted the PC.  Then, went to BB and reloaded the BB DM6.  Same error message and no Launch.
Try using the repair/modify option in the Remove Program function on the DM installation currently loaded on the PC.
    5.  I am far from the "Techie" that the respondants to this Problem are!!  I am a SIMPLE End User of this BB Storm having mucho problems ... all of a sudden ... last week after using BB DM6 without the problems.
    6.  What can a SIMPLE, non-techie End User do?  From the Respondants Postings .. I am reading about Loading Roxio for BB DM from the Roxio website?  Also, reading about that the Unload from the Windows XP Control Panel, Remove Programs, is incomplete for the removal of the BB DM6.  I am being directed to removing 'hidden' files/keys as directed in a BB Problem Solving Posting for the CLEAN Removal of BB DM6--- which is surely not written for the SIMPLE, non-techie End User!!
The error indicates a problem with some Roxio software. If you were using DM with Media manager prior Roxio was a part of that software, or you are running Roxio software. The Roxio information I gave you was to remove Roxio drivers not load Roxio software.
In your description of the January 2009 install  there were problems with the install that were never correctly addressed. What we are suggesting is to remove all traces of the Various installation of desktop manager which includes editing the registry. That is why using Windows remove programs is not sufficient.
Once complete you will be installing a fresh copy of DM on your system, this will ensure that the DM software can correctly integrate wit both Windows and MS Outlook
The install procedure is SUGGESTED as the best resolution to your problem. Whether you run it or not is your decision.
    7.  In simple non-Techie language for this SIMPLE, non-techie End User ... what can I do to fix the problem and be able to launch BB DM6 from my Windows XP PC??
This is as plain "non-techie" as I can write it.
    Thanks,
