Desktop Software version 5 phase out

As last week i still can download the Blackberry Desktop Software version 5 at  'download' page of blackberry http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/. But now i needed to go to 'service provider page' http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp to download. As i still needed to use version 5 to sync. the blackberry data to Outlook 2000 which not support at version 6.
so just wonder if blackberry will soon phase out this version? Thank

That's what it looks like!

  • Connector specific error - blackberry bold 9790 - desktop software version 6.1 and outlook 2010

    Hi there
I've recently upgraded my business partners' outlook from 2007 to 2010.  In doing so we've had a corrupt profile which we have had to delete and then replace with a new one.  In doing so his outlook started working again but now his blackberry isn't synching the calendar entries.
    Here's the basics:
    - Bberry model - Bold 9790
    - Bberry operating system - Blackberry's latest (7.1 I think)
    - Blackberry desktop software 6.1 - this is intentional as we have found in the newer version of hte desktop software that we cannot map our teamsite calendar from outlook and sync the entries
    - Outlook version 2010
    - Calendars we are trying to sync are a personal one from a pst folder and a teamsite one from sharepoint linked to our microsoft exchange set up.
The error we are getting is a 'connector specific error'
I have worked with him to create the PTtrace.log and tif.log files.  I've gotten reams of pages; but the errors on todays date (when the problem began) have come up with error 4238, 113, and 12.  We have tried un-installing and re-installing 6.1 as well and no luck.  We have re-set the configuration setup and re-mapped folders; chosen the new outlook profile, etc and still keep getting same error.
I'm now starting to think that there is a problem with the mapi profile as a start and wonder if outlook needs to repair itself or whether we are getting the error because of a duplicate entry somewhere (though if you asked me to tell you where from the logs I couldn't identify it).
I'm litterally tearing my hair out because my poor business partner lives and dies by his blackberry.  Really want to try to get this resolved; but need some help and suggestions as I've tried most of the main causes and fixes.
Any assistance would really be appreciated so I can put him and myself out of our misery.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cel

Hi and Welcome to the Community...apologies for the delayed reply...hopefully you already have this resolved, but just in case!
Thank you for the thorough report...that helps tremendously. Sadly, though, none of the errors you listed reveal anything useful when I search the public KBs...perhaps you will be more lucky
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
Even though it sounds like you may have done all or part of this, I encourage you to research the process in this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Your suspicion about the MAPI Profile may well be warranted, in which case this KB might be useful.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Curve 8900 not connecting to Desktop Software version 6.0.0.40

I am not able to connect my Curve 8900 to the BlackBerry Desktop Software Version 6.0.0.40.  When I connect via USB it asks for the password  and then it says connecting in the bottom right corner - it never connects.  I also have the Blackberry Device Manager version 6.0.0.11 running at startup but it does say that the device is connected.  There are no errors in the device manager.  I am running Windows XP SP3.

No one else replied, but I seem to have solved the problem, more or less, so I thought I'd report back.  See previous message for the setup.
    1) First attack - make a concerted effort to truly undelete the 2 old versions of Desktop Manager.  The typical list of "how to cleanly uninstall" (link above) is incomplete.  This document is much better: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206 .
The part that matters is near the bottom, under Additional Information.  Basically, take a shovel to the Registry and start digging out absolutely every reference to "Research In Motion" using the Edit/Find.  I added to that recommendation a search on "BlackBerry" and even, for good measure, all the Roxio software (and removed the Roxio folders just like the Research In Motion folders).  I can't say which part did the trick, but I could see some of the Install and Uninstall list items go by.
This finally killed the zombie entries in the Add/Remove Programs list, and prevented the Windows Installer attempts on unfindable .msi files.
    2) Problems: In killing Roxio, I may have accidentally munged a Sonic registry entry.  When I installed the Desktop Manager fresh from the CD, it complained about a registry-style confusion with Sonic software.  It allowed me to continue past that point anyway.
I can't fix that, but I will be swapping in new PCs in a couple of months and can live with whatever reduced functionality might be involved.
When I started the Desktop Manager for the first time, I could see Windows Installer popups fly by in the background, but none of them stayed open, and perhaps that will be a one-time problem.  Otherwise, if related to the Sonic issue, at least it's not a functional problem that prevents me from using the Desktop Manager.
    3) I can now connect to the Desktop Manager via USB, but am unable to successfully update the device software.  It goes through the backup process apparently successfully, but issues an error message about "Fatal error" before installing much (any?) of the new software.  Seems to be a benigh error - phone still works.  Because this will be reinstalled on a clean PC in a couple of months, I can pass on upgrading the device software until then.
    4) All I care about is the ability to synch the contact and calendar data and, by god, that seems to be working!!!  And it's much faster than my older BB.
If you're reading this, it's because you have an ongoing nightmare...  You have my sympathy.

  • Synchronize my Address Book using desktop Software Version 6.0 with the BlackBerry 8900

    Hiya!
Please be a little more specific.
What do you mean by crashes? Does your entire system shut down? do you get any error codes?
    Thanks!

  • Can't install Desktop Software properly with out Error 1406

    Hello All,
I am running Win 7. Just can't seem to get the desktop software installed witout the Error 1406 coming up. I have tried doing a clean uninstall a few times but still can't get done.
I have no trouble with getting it done in XP on my other compters!
    Here's the full Error messege;
Could not write value discription to key \Software\MozillaPlugins\@Rim.com/webSLLauncher,

    Solved!

    Hi there!
I agree...a full start over is in order. And, for your easier reference, here is the procedure that I give out.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software version 7 Synchronization Error

I get the following error while synchronizing my Outlook calendar
"CRRecurringl:: SetRecurringDates: Start date is invalid".
I did not have any problems synchronizing prior to upgrading Blackberry Desktop to version 7.

I had the same problem.  This is what I found out and how to fix it.  Tech Support at RIM walked me through it though it took awhile.
From browsing online, it seems this problem occurs when you change from two way sync in the Desktop Software to one way, then change back to two way.  To fix it, you need to first make sure you have all of your information current in Outlook.  Then, go into the Desktop Software and under Device choose Delete Data.  You can then Select Data and choose only Calendar.  After that is done, do another sync, and everything should be okay.

  • Desktop Software version 6 wont start??

Never had a prolem with the Blackberry software until I downloaded V6. Now when I try to open it i get
"BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Uninstalled and tried 3 times now but keep getting the same message.
Blackberry device manager can see the phone is there????

  • Desktop software version compatible with my Pam T|X

    Hello,
I just upgraded from a Palm T5 to a T|X and upgraded my Desktop software from 4.1.4 to 6.2.2 and was horribly disapointed by the lack of features of 6.2.2..  We lost all color categories!
The question is:  Is the Palm T|X compatible with the version 4.1.4 of the Destop ?  If yes, can I revert to 41.4 without losing my data wchich is the actual 6.2.2 format ?
    Thanks,
    Roger

  • Bold 9700 won't let me sync with Windows 7 computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software version 6

I just got a new computer with Windows 7.  I installed version 6 of BlackBerry Desktop Software.  It installed just fine.  When I connect my Bold 9700 to it the software recognizes the phone and has the list of model, PIN, and phone number.  It allows me to backup the device - but not sync it.
I went to configure my sync settings.  It goes to the screen for me to set the sync options for calendar, memo pad, etc.  I selected calendar.  It asks me which application I'm using and I select Microsoft Outlook (I'm using Outlook 2010).  I choose 2 way sync.  So, up to this point it's working correctly.  But, then when I hit "next" on this screen it gives me an error message - the operation terminated unexpectedly.  I have no clue what's going on.

I have the same problem and have tried one way sync's, deleting and re-entering the calendar entries made around the time the problem started. If it is a corrupted entry, I can't find it.

  • Uninstall BB Desktop Software Version 5.0.1.37

    BB friends,
I have tried all suggested means to uninstall BB desktop software 5.0.1.37 from my computer. The files do not exist anymore, but the program remains in the control panel program overview.
I am intending to reinstall the version 5.0.1.37 to then uninstall it properly. Could anyone advice on where I can find that very version of the program?
    Thanks and best,

  • Desktop software version matching device OS version???

    Hello and good day,
I am very new to blackberry.  I just got an 8830.  I'm getting ready to download the desktop manager, and was wondering if (since my device's OS is v4.2.2.123), if I have to only download the desktop manager v4.2.... or can I get 4.5, or 4.6?  Also, I downloaded the upgrade to take my device OS to v4.2.2.196 so I can use a full 8gb card.  Any tips on how to install this onto my device (it's just currently on my desktop PC from where I downloaded it)?  Thanks for your time and patience, and have a great day!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There is no relation with device software and desktop manager version. You can download and use the update 4.6 version with your Blackberry.
Check steps below for OS upgrade -
    Step #1
Before starting make sure that BlackBerry Desktop Software is installed on the computer.
    Step#2
Make sure that you have installed updated device software installed in your PC. Check this link to get update device software from carrier OS download site.
    Step#3
Users can perform a full or selective backup of the data using the Backup and Restore tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager by completing the following steps:
Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Double-click Backup and Restore.
Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases.
Choose a location to save the backup file, then click Save.
    Step#4
To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Double-click the Application Loader icon.
Click Next to start the installation process.
Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
Click the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load, and then click Next.
Click Advanced, and then click the check box beside Erase all currently installed applications.
    Click Next.
Click the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process.
Clear the box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly.
    Click Next > Finish.
When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

  • Can't download Blackberry Desktop Software Version 6.0.1?

    Hi,
I've just got a Blackberry Bold 9900, but only have Windows XP SP2 so cannot download 6.1.  When I select the download earlier versions section and go to download 6.0.1 it still brings up the page to download 6.1!
How do I get around this?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Older versions of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software are not available for download.  BlackBerry® Desktop Software 6.1 requires Windows® XP Service Pack 3.  You can obtain Service Pack 3 by installing the latest Windows® updates.
    Thanks

  • Problems synchronization Blackberry desktop software version 6.0.0.40

Today I installed the latest version of the Blackberry desktop software, 6.0.0.40 on my desktop, latest MS Vista version. After I connected my Blackberry bold 9000 via USB, the system automatically made a backup. That's fine ofcourse. But when I want to verify the synchronization parameters, the system gives an "unknown error" and don't allow me to change the parameters because of that error. I can't click one of the four given synchronization aps, the system doesn't allow it and comes with the error mentioned before. I checked for a newer version of the desktop software, but I have the latest version.
Who can give me a good advice to solve this?
    Bernard, Holland, Europe.

I have the same problem and am still waiting on a solution from RIM , and may end up switching form Blackberry because of it. I use win 7, latest DM6, BBerry Tour with latest Verizon updates, and Outlook 2010. I have un-installed and reinstalled DM6 multiple times, using every clean un-install protocol here. I STILL get "Intellysinc error" when I try to change the sync parameters as you've said, crashing DM6. I haven't been able to sync since at least May- it is ABSURD THAT RIM DOESTN CARE ABOUT BUSINESS USERS anymore, leaving us with outlook 2010 high and dry all these months. I will be switching to Droid in a week if RIM doesn't solve this !
