On windows server 2012 R2, under the taskbar properties, the option to display desktop background on start is disabled and I have not found a way to enable the same.
Please suggest, how this can be enabled.
    With regards

You should take a look at this thread. They still haven't figured it out yet though, I don't believe it is possible at the moment on server 2012 even with desktop experience installed.

  • How to disable autostart of Oracle?

    Hi
I've just installed Oracle 10 Enterpirse Server on Windows XP Prof. When I am starting Windows, Oracle starts also. Is it possible to disable autostart of Oracle?

Which services you need really depends on what you are doing with Oracle. OracleService<<SID>> is the actual database instance, so you pretty much need that if anything else is going to work. That is also going to account for 99% of the memory and CPU utilization of the services. If you want to connect to the database from another machine, you will have to start the TNS listener. If you are using MTS (Microsoft's Transaction Server), Enterprise Manager, or dbms_scheduler, iSQL*Plus you may need to start other services as well.

  • Feature Request: Option to Quit via "X" and Disable Autostart Without Logging In

To elaborate on the subject for the DEVs, I would like to request the ability to quit the application quickly or even the option to do so in the settings. Also, I would like to be able to disable autostart without having to log in. I don't use Skype all the time and the accumulation of applications running in the background becomes cumbersome on systems as many other applications each have similar issues of "closing to system tray" or running in the background.

You might be able to get where you want using Chaotic Software's MediaRage. It can automate and batch tag editing, including building a Title tag that combines Artist and Title and, to possibly address you other problem, blanking the Artist tag.
MediaRage is not expensive and it is very powerful, you can even define regexs for how to parse tags.

  • How to disable autostart (application) when managed server restart ?

    Hi Ppl,
How to disable autostart (application) when managed server restart ?
I want some of the applications to remain not started. In WebSPhere, we have an option disable auto start for applications.
    I don't find in weblogic.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I agree with Faisal. When you shutdown your WL server while the application is running, the thing is when you start your server again, it would automatically start the application with it. Now if the application was down when you shutdown the server, it _the application_ won't start with the server.
So it depends on the application last state, when you start your server.

Is it possible to disable some popups from FEP Client on the desktop. But how to disable popups from real time protection. This is so that end users who are non technical are not disturbed and only the I.T is aware of the viruses in teh environment.Shahid Roofi

You could set policies which when a malware detected an action perform automatically without user interaction but there is no GPO which stop the notification, one reason could be that when notification keep appearing, then user will know something is wrong
otherwise why FEP should display any warning.

  • Disabling autostart of ASM

    Hi all,
I am using oracle 11g. when i execute crsctl strat crs . it automatically start ASM instance configured on that node.
it's good actually but i was wondering ,can i disable this so that i can start / stop ASM instance myself and have full control on ASM.
we are having srvctl command "srvctl modify database -y <manual>" . through this we can disable autostart of database through CRS. i am looking for something like this for ASM.
Thanks a lot for your help,

You can disable asm... by srvctl... after stop database you can start it(database).. again
if you stop asm and need start asm again ...you must enable asm before.
    use "srvctl" command
    Usage: srvctl disable asm -n <node_name> [-i <inst_name>]
    Usage: srvctl enable asm -n <node_name> [-i <inst_name>]
    Example:
    *$ srvctl disable asm -n oratest01 -i +ASM1*
    After crs start:
    $ crs_stat -t
    Name Type Target State Host
    ora....SM1.asm application ONLINE OFFLINE
    ora....01.lsnr application ONLINE ONLINE oratest01
    ora....t01.gsd application ONLINE ONLINE oratest01
    ora....t01.ons application ONLINE ONLINE oratest01
    ora....t01.vip application ONLINE ONLINE oratest01
    $ srvctl start asm -n oratest01 -i +ASM1
    PRKP-1020 : Instance +ASM1 already disabled.
    $ srvctl enable asm -n oratest01 -i +ASM1
    $ srvctl start asm -n oratest01 -i +ASM1
    $crs_stat -t

  • Disabling autostart feature for OC4J_Demos instance

    Hi all,
We installed a J2EE and webcache iAS. We use OC4J_home in order to run our servlet application, and we want that OC4J_Demos instance does not start when we reboot the machine. How can I disable autostart feature for OC4J_Demos instance?
    regards,

You can start individual Oracle9iAS processes from the Enterprise Manager or command line (make sure $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin is in the PATH):
    dcmctl start -ct ohs
    dcmctl start -co home
Then only the Oracle HTTP Server and the "home" OC4J instance will be started.
If you want to remove the entire OC4J_Demos instance, you can do it from Oracle Enterprise Manager or using the following:
    dcmctl removeComponent -co OC4J_Demos
    -Chen.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software - Request Option to Disable Software from Loading During Start-Up

After Blackberry Desktop Software automatic updates. Software become part of Start-Up option or menu. I do not want Blackberry Desktop Software to automatically load during Start-Up. The Desktop Software does not have a user friendly option to disable the desktop software from loading during start-up. Am writing you to add this feature to your desktop software. I've just completed loading v5.0.1 and again I need to hunt and peck a way through windows to delete this software from loading during start-up. This software needs to have a user friendly option to disable the desktop software from loading during start-up. When I loaded v4.x.x when I bought my blackberry your set-up wizard had this disable option, but all your subsequent software upgrades change my windows start-up to load blackberry desktop manager software. Please add this feature to your software.

  • I love firefox 3.08 but when I install any improved versions they will not run on my desktop even when I have disabled all add ons and the firewall, can you help?

my system is Windows XP Media Center 2005 Hp model
I use Avast anti virus but have disabled it when loading firefox
I removed the Mcfee firewall which I thought might have stopped it running
I disabled all the add ons in case that was the problem
The internet explorer which I dont use as a browser has loaded up the inbox which ss very hard to remove
I have tried all the suggestions in the support section without success
please help as the message on the screen reads that the firefox version 3.08 is no longer secure.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Removing Desktop Manager from Windows7 XP Mode Autostart

    Hello,
I installed the Desktop Manager on Windows 7 XP Mode and chose to run it on system start. Now I think this was a bad choice and want to remoce it from Autostart, but I don't know how. Please help!
    hagen

    Hi there!
As I recall, that option (auto start) can only be changed by a complete removal and re-installation of DTM. Here is a procedure:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Mac account on desktop mail program has been disabled

Hello, would appreciate any help. Yesterday I ran my desktop mail program and it would look like it was connecting but would have a box appear to "check the settings as it was having trouble getting mail," but then the new mail was there, so didn't think there was a problem. I ran the disc permission repair as I have to do this periodically and today when I clicked on mail in my dock only my ISP mailbox was there. When I click on Preferences it shows my Mac account as "inactive" and it is grayed out. It will not let me "enable" the account or bring it back online. If I click on "edit" to check the settings it won't let me back out because "there is no user name in place" but it won't let me add one. I must click on cancel in order to get out of that section. Is there a way to get this account back on line without removing it and then re-entering all of the information again? If I have to remove it how do I know what to put where in order to get my mail coming to my desktop again, as I am not sure if the ones on the "disable account" are correct at this point. I checked with my ISP just to make sure everything was working on their end and it is, they said it is an Apple problem and to get help from them but their recommendation was to delete the account and start over. In order for me to check my mail to get an answer, I am going to have to keep going to the Mac.com website so would appreciate a prompt reply. Thanks for any help.

  • How to disable autostart of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (EMC12cr2)

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 2 ( EMC12cr2)
Recently, I have installed EMC12cr2 on Oracle Linux 6.3. I follow one document to install, and It was ok after the installation.
But after I reboot the testing server, I found out that it is very slow as the EMC12cr2 services are auto start at boot such OMS, and agent.
So could you please tell me how to disable the EMC12cr2 or OMS service from auto startup, so that it makes the system reboot faster.
    Thanks in advance,

Take a look at this article on My Oracle Support - 1478617.1
It's a little older, but the same idea applies.  There is a script in /etc/init.d/ called gcstartup, you can comment out the startup lines in there with a hashtag.

  • [Desktop] Spotify app update for windows 10

Hi, Spotify.I recently upgraded to windows 10 and was wondering when your application will stop looking muddy on the latest version of windows? Like:
To have it look ok I'm forced to setup compatibility settings (come on guys. you keep updating your app every week or so!?).
I mean it is not like the next version of windows dropped from the sky? And no, my display is setup correctly with the native resolution, no custom dpi scaling whatever.
Or perhaps you should switch UI frameworks...?

Updated: 2015-08-07Hello and thanks for the feedback!
Any news regarding this request will be announced in the original idea topic here:

  • Disable autostart of middle tier whily patching OAS

    Hi,
I have an OAS installation of 10gR2(10.1.2.0.2) with Bussiness Intelligence Middle Tier and ready to install patch 5983622 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0).
The readme says that only the database, listener and infrastructure should be running.
I make sure the middle tier is down, but after a little time elapses, the middle tier services automatically start up. How can I prevent them from starting up until patching is complete?
I'd very much appreciate if someone could please explain.
    Pat

Oracle instances do not automatically go up or down. Either a user or a process starts or stops them.
Just do the following and the server would stay down unless some cron job or another user would bring it up.
    set and export your ORACLE_HOME to midtier;
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl.bat stop iasconsole
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopall
    thanks,
    AMN
