Desktop Theater 5.1, DT2200 - no sound

I have a Dell Dimension 8400, the sound card is on the motherboard. I wanted to use my Cambridge Desktop Theater 5.1, DT2200 speakers with it, but I get no sound from them. They work fine on my other computers, and the speakers that came with the Dell work fine. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem? Thanx, Chris

HI
It has SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Yes is does support 5.1. It has 3, one for the subwoofer, one for "most speakers w/ integrated amplifiers and black one to attach multichannel-capable speakers.
Everything is plugged in where it should be. Still no sound. Any ideas?
Chris

  • No sound from external speakers Desktop Theater 5.1 SB 5.1 Platinum

System had been working but lost sound from speakers. All wiring and cables are correct. Can only hear sound from headphones plugged into jack in front of the computer. I noticed on the Decoder\Amplifier that the only light that will come on is the power light. None of the other buttons or lights appear to be working.
Any help or ideas will be appreciated!
    Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me! The speaker system is a Cambridge Sound Works Desktop Theater 5.1. I do unplug the headphones when trying to use the speakers. I've checked for updated drivers and everything checks out through the device manager.
I guess I'm still concerned about the fact that I can't get anything on the box to respond or to light up other then the power indicator. How possible is it that the unit has failed internally? I'm running this on a Dell 4600 and it has worked in the past but stopped several weeks ago. I didn't install any new hardware or do anything that would have changed any settings.
I've run out of ideas, short of removing and reinstalling all of the Creative software and drivers so any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Todd

  • Dolby Digital AC-3 missing: Realtek ALC892 / Creative Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1

    Hi there,
recently I purchased a new mainboard (ASUS Sabertooth X58, http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...th_X58.pdfwith an internal soundchip ALC892 from Realtek. This mainbard has an internal S/PDIF-Connector which I connected to a coax cable for fitting the Dolby Digital AC-3 S/PDIF input of the Creative Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1 (model CSW3000, 998, http://download.cambridgesoundworks....nuals/DTT5.pdf
As the SoundWorks has an internal Dolby decoder working it seems to be somewhat difficult to get the noise going. Simply connecting the cable does not work, neither tuning the Realtek sound driver. It seems that the Realtek driver is missing an option to stream directly to the DTT5.1.
Is there any possibility to get the combination working?
    Best regards, Ingo Wolfmller

I installed my old Audigy 2 and connected the Speakers. The digital output of that soundcard works. So the speakers are alright. But the AC-3 stream e.g. coming from an DVD delivers a steady crunching/crashing sound. Maybe a configuration problem although I fixed the output to Dolby Digital an 48 kHz.
The internal Realtek still delivers nothing.

  • Mac extended desktop mirroring needing to 'split' the sound

The setup is that I am using my iMac in one room (the study), and I am using airplay to extend the desktop so that my apple TV in the living room is used to play a movie for my parents to watch.
The sound and video transfers just fine to the apple TV on 'desktop 2', but I was wanting to be able to play a seperate video on my imac, in the study. I can't seperate the sound. Even though the video is on 'desktop 1' on my iMac any video's sound on either screen will be played through the TV speakers as my System preferences only allow me to select 'iMac' or 'apple TV'
Is there any way to 'split' the sound?

""Extended Desktop" and "Dual Display" mean the
    same thing..."
Actually, they don't. "Dual Display" simply means
that the computer can support two displays. "Extended
Desktop" and "Desktop Mirroring" refer to the
different modes in which the two displays can be
used. "Extended Desktop" uses both screens as one
large continuous desktop while "Mirroring" displays
the same desktop image on both screens.
    O.K. I'm confused.
Can the Macbook display extended desktop (one giant desktop with half on the laptop and half on an external monitor) or is it limited to just mirroring the same desktop on both displays?
    Thanks,

  • Desktop theater 5.1 dtt2500 digital

I would like to know whether you sell the right speaker of the "" as single item, because my mother broke it.

The P7800 does not have independent channel controls. I am not familiar with the DTT2500, but I would guess they probably fall between the two judging by some quick googling. The P7800's are respectable, and definately good for the price, but they're nothing like the S750. I actually just upgraded from the 7800's I bought several years ago on sale to the S750 and I am glad I did. Speakers last quite a while and are worth the investment (like how long yours lasted).

  • Recording a surround sound cd/dvd for home theater

I am trying to burn a 5.1 surround sound cd/dvd with different audio in each channel.  I have created the file without any problems and it will play on my computer in surround sound.  When I burn the cd/dvd (I have tried both) all of the audio plays in all channels. How do I burn the file onto a disc so that it will play correctly as surround sound in my home theater?

I know this question was asked ages ago, but I'm sure others are probably looking for an answer too (as I was over a year ago, when I started working with Audition 3).
In my experience, there is no way to directly export a functional 5.1 file from Audition.  You can surround mix a file using the surround panner, but you can't export in the file format used by most home theater systems (.ac3 - Dolby Surround Sound).  My solution was to track down a standalone encoder, although there may be pugins available to allow Audition to do this.  After surround mixing, I export to 5 mono wav files and then drop them into this absolutely ancient program called Soft Encode, which creates a single, interleaved .ac3 file out of my source files.  Then, I take the .ac3 file, create a blank video the same length, and use my video editor to burn them to a DVD.
From what my research turned up, the reason Audition does not have the capability to export in .ac3 is because of the expense of licensing with Dolby.  I would love to see a more sophisticated surround panner in AA4, as well as the ability to natively export .ac3 files, but by the same token, I don't want to see a skyrocketing price, so I'm waiting to see what happens!

  • Disable recording desktop sounds

I'm running Windows 8.1. In calls people tell me they can hear everything thats going on in my desktop. I've checked Windows sound settings and the microphone does not pic up any desktop audio however in skype settings the microphone area pics up all of my dekstop sounds. How to disable?

The easiest solution is offcourse to turn system sounds off in windows ( controlpanel > sound > Sounds > no sounds ).
However seting up a mic treshold using something like this:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/noisegator/
Custom mic input treshold should really be a Skype feature, it can be tricky though, by experience from Teamspeak, to get it right, without cutting of speech.

  • DTT2500 Digital started "popping" and fading sound in/out

    Greetings,
I have a Desktop Theater 5.1 DTT2500 hooked to a Creative Live! card. About a month ago, after working fine for a year, the speakers start making a popping sound. The pop/click happens every 5 seconds, and the sound (eg music) fades in/out. The speaker test does not work; it hangs on one of the 5 speakers as its cycling through the test. Powering on/off does not help.
There does not seem to be anything wrong with the speakers; it seems to be the control unit - is this a common problem with the control unit's
    Thanks, Geoff.

I have a DTT3500, and have had almost the same experience. It was working fine for a year or two, connected to our DVD player for input and serving as a sound system for our TV. Then it started making popping/clicking noises, and occasionally playing the input sound. Now it doesn't even play the input sound. However, the "test" works great, and we get the white-noise sound test on all 5. speakers.
I called Creative Tech Support, but we were not able to resolve the problem. I am wondering whether this can be fixed, or should I just dump the whole system in the trash can. Or can I just replace the control unit's
Would be grateful for any help or suggestions.
    Thanks,

  • Sound Blaster Live x-Gamer 5.1 speakers not work

I have the subject sound card with the matching Cambridge Soundworks DeskTop Theater 5. Dtt2200 Multimedia Speaker System. The system is about 5 years old. 2 weeks ago both front speakers stopped working. Saturday the 2 rearspeakers stopped working. Now the only speakers working are the center speaker and the subwoofer.
I have checked the connections. They all seem secure.
I suspect the Card. How can I trouble shoot this problem?

    Marc4ucb,
Test your speakers with a different audio source such as a portable CD player. Replace the cable connected to your sound card, and connect it to the test source such as a portable CD player or portable MP3 player.

  • No front sound live

hello i have no sound on speaker :left center and right front.
i chek all my connections but everything is ok..my speaker work all because i test them all on my rear output ( only rear is working)
i have a soundblaster li've LS and an desktop theater dtt2200....
    please help...........................

    Cheers guys,
the leads are all ok, I've even swapped the leads incase the front one was broken but to no avail, the control panel is also setup ok, I ran the "Creative Speaker Settings" software and when it goes from channel to channel all the speakers work apart from the front!
I've just plugged in my Audigy Sound card and that gives me all speakers so definetly not a prob with the speakers. But I think the Live 24 is better than the audigy so I'd rather use that!
    any ideas?

  • No sound from sattelites behind me

    hello, first post here...
I've got a problem with my sound.
i hear everything in front of me, but nothing that happens behind me
especially when playing ego-shooters its quite annoying
    My soundcard: Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS
My Soundsystem: Desktop Theater 5. DTT2200 of Cambridge
    My driver: SBA2_PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002
excuse my english, its not my first language
i tried to explain it as good as i can

Run a diagnostic check on your Audigy 2ZS. Goto your Speaker Settings (Creative Software) then click "Channel" to know if your rear speakers are working. If the volume of the voice coming from your rear is too low to be heard, you have to make proper adjustments on your volume settings for the rear speakers. Which can be either be found on the Surround Mixer then Advanced or through your speaker system control panel (buttons, knobs, etc.)
If all is okay, then access the options of the particular game you are playing and go to its audio options. The game must support multi-channel audio which varies from game to game. Options you should look-out for are: 5. channel, multi-channel, surround, etc.
If you found it, it should be ok and ready to go. By the way, you should also enable EAX if the game supports it provided you have enough CPU speed to handle this option.
To test the adjustments that you made, go find a bad guy in the game and while he/she/it is shooting at you, turn your back around him. You should be able to hear the gun fire hitting your back.
    Happy gaming!
