Desktop update Froze during install

I just got my new Torch and was updating it to the newest softwear, and it has frozen during the install step. It has been stuck on this section for the past 4 hours. It says not to disconnect the device or interupt the process as it could make the device unusasble. What can I do ?!

Hi, strangely I am also experiencing the same issue but with the Blackberry curve when tried to update to OS 6. It froze at the install stage. I am at wits end too to undo or wait .. Any advice is deeply appreciated ..

You are right. There are a lot more self-support tools available in Windows
than in MacOS. All you ever get on a Mac is "That didn't work: -304998173".
    Thanks for your insights.

The upgrade is not the 11.0.06, but that is an update. The upgrade is what
you can purchase if you had a previous version of Acrobat (at least AA 9).
The upgrade is substantially less in price than the full product. With the
upgrade you also have to have the SN of the previous product available for
the install. That is why I asked about the upgrade. Once you install AA XI,
then going to 11.0.06 is a free update (updates are changes in the
sub-version and are done quarterly or when there is a critical security
issue).  You can often fix installations by running a repair. In Windows
that is done either from Help>Repair or from the Control Panel. I do not
know the equivalent of the Control panel in the MAC. In any case I am glad
    you got it fixed.

  • Applying all update\patches during 'install software update' step

    Hi,
I have created software update group (around 10 updates\patches) and deploy it to 'unknown computers' collection. Ts 'Install software update' step scans through and only installs 2 updates out of 10. I have kept deploy property as 'required' while publishing
on 'unknown computers' and 'install software update' has 'All Software update' selected (other option is mandatory update'). I want to have all the 10 required update to be installed . any idea what should be the settings on 'deploy' prperty for software group
that install all the updates in the group during 'install software update' step? Any pointers will be appreciated
    Regards,

    Hi,
Yes , they need a reboot and reboot is happening automatically. I believe, once reboot is done, other patches should take over with installation. I don't see any information for another updates that are part of same software group. For these 2 succefully
installed updates log has below that indicates they reboot and finish.
    WUHandler has log:

  • IOS Update stalled during install...should I reboot?

Doing a required update to the software on my mac mini (so I could then update the ios on my iphone4s)  seems that the update stalled during the 'installing files' step.  Should I power off and try again?  Help...

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • CC desktop update won't install

I keep getting a message that an update is available for Creative Cloud, but when I try to run it, it aborts about halfway through and I get the message "CC Desktop did not install". Any idea what causes this? I'm on Windows 7. Thanks,
    Gail

I decided to try removing all CC applications but that operation also.failed due to the lack of application manager. I couldn't get that to install either so I finally found the cc cleaner tool and had it remove everything.
CC Cleaner and a pass through regedit getting rid of superfluous stuff got the system in a position where it would actually install the desktop app.
Bottom line of all this is that CC is basically a pretty unstable system. This is evident from many forum posts. In addition, the live chat function doesn't provide any support as nobody is there to answer the bell.

  • Desktop Update Will not install

    Hello everyone.
I received a notification that I needed to update the Desktop software to v5.0.1 2010-03-25 and so downloaded the 250MB file. When I clicked on install, after a few seconds I received the message "There was an error installing updates. Click here to see the updates that have not been installed".
This download process has happened a couple of times. I have tried and tried to run the installation, but keep getting the same message.
I then checked the version of my BB Desktop software and found that it was 5.0.1.18 [Aug 21 2009]. The update notification is therefore for a newer version, or so it seems.
Can anyone help with reasons why it wont install, or give me some pointers how to get round whatever is preventing the installation. I don't want to have to keep downloading 250 mb files every night if I can help it.
    Many thanks for your time.

  • 10.4.7 update freezes during install

I'm trying to update a G4 iMac. It had previously crashed hard during the install, so I had to archive and reinstall the OS from the original disks. I ran the disk verify and repair. Now, it downloads the combo update, but it never gets past "Preparing for Installation." No other programs are running during the install. Is there more that I can and should do?
    Thanks for any help.

Probably a bad download. Dump it and download another. If that doesn't work, then you should run the Apple Hardware Test program to rule out any hardware problems.

  • Desktop Software "Interrupted" during Install

    Hello,
I received a BB Curve 8310 a few days ago and it did not come with any software [a friend gave me his old on]. I have Windows Vista Home Premium x64 and NONE of the desktop managers have installed correctly. Here's how it has gone, and here is what I have tried:
It downloads fine, I right click on the icon, Run as Administrator, it begins to install then suddenly stops saying the installation has been interrupted.
I have tried running my computer in safe mode, turning off all security/firewall, renaming the old InstallSheild folder, everything.
Please, please, please help me. All I want to do is update my BB OS.

    Hello mrmabry,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums
There are a few options to look at in this situation.
If you are only concerned with updating your software you should be able to so through the following link using your USB cable tethered to your PC:
    BlackBerry Upgrades
Alternatively there is a knowledge base article regarding the issue you are running into that may help you install the Desktop Manager Software:
Wizard was interrupted before software could be completely installed
    Good luck!

  • Keyboard Software Update Freezing During Install

    Hi,
I'm, rather belatedly, trying to install KeyboardSoftwareUpdate 1.2 on my PPC G5 running 10.4.11. The keyboard is wired and the problem, which I've read is curable with this update, is that none of the function keys like for volume or brightnesss, etc. work. Every time I try to install this update, the installation freezes after Select Drive and before letting me move on to choosing Installation Type. At this point, I then have to force quit the application. The drive I've been choosing (and which is also the only option for installation) has plenty of space on it. I've had no other issues with any other installations that I can recall. Suggestions? Thanks

    Hello,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    Try the install again.
I think Spark cured this FN key thing for another person and the same problem...

I am in the process of installing arch and have gotten to the point where I need to install the video drivers. I decided to use the proprietary ATI catalyst drivers. • MacBook Pro froze during software update, now it's stuck at gray screen

My MacBook Pro was running a little slow today so I did a Disk Utility repair and that went fine then I did a software update (OS X, Java and remote desktop) but it froze during the last ten percent of the update install and now when I boot up it won't get past the gray apple screen. I tried to restore Lion but since I bought this used my Apple ID wasn't used to purchase Lion so I can't do a restore.
I've tried to safe boot and boot from a CD but no go.
I also tried the short and long Apple hardware tests and those found no problems

In case anyone else needs an answer to this, I called in to Apple. Tech support said to power it off and let it reboot itself. I had to go back into updates and tell it to finish the install (restart computer, was the only step remaining) and it worked fine. It took longer because it had gotten hung up during the previous restart. ( Just to clarify, I was stuck on the grey screen after the restart step of the install.)
