Desktop with USB551L modem how to connect to laptop

I have a USB551L modem connected to my Vista system Desktop. Now we also have a wifi ready laptop. What is the most economical way to connect the two. We don't leave the house with the lap top but very often want to use BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. Lap top computer is windows7.

We won't be using tv, cell phone etc etc.I have the USB551L connected to my desktop. Now my husband want to also do email and surf the web on his laptop at the same time. What is an economical way to both be on the internet at the same time? Of course everything has to be compatible with verizon. Thank you.

Have you not got a backup of your content on external drives and/or CDs/DVD ? If so then you can copy that onto the computer and load them into iTunes. Have you tried doing File > Transfer Purchases in iTunes with the phone connected to see if any of you purchases transfer over ? No Modem - How to connect Via Dial UP?

as there is no modem in the mac book pro computers, how can i configure it to use while on holiday where the only connection is a dial-up?
is there any way i can use an old airport base station i have as a modem to go through a dial up?
any information will be helpful.

Methinks the Airport base station is not going to work as a solution when you want dialup.
What you need is a modem. Apple do a USB modem which is $49 (or whatever the equivalent is wherever you may be), but you ought to find this fast and check the settings before you leave. Trying to do anything on the fly like this always has its own set of problems.
Other modems may work, but you need to think about compatibility between modem, computer and OS.

Help...problem with my Modem - Dial Up connection

Hi...I having the following problem with my Powerbook G4 1Ghz Titatium. Hope you can give a hand.
I am trying to conect to the internet with dail-up but the System Profiler utility says that "Modem Driver Not Found". I went into Network Preferences, and into Network Port configurations and the option of "Internal Modem" simply does not appear. What can I do?. I have been trying to find any installer for the modem but no lucky so far (I have the OS 10.3.9). I can imagine that the drivers were deleted.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Greetings from Mexico.

Device Manager: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> System --> Hardware(tab) --> Device Manager.
The error i'm getting is:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
anyone know how to resolve this? it searches the cd for the drivers and cannot find them. What kind of files are drivers?

Problem with Lightroom 5: how to connect the app with my original pictures which are on a external hard disk and, once this resolved, how to create virtual pictures

A friend has installed Lightroom 5 on my MacBook air. he transferred all my picture that were on my IPhone an on Iphoto on Lightroom but without making virtual copies systematically. He put the original (real?) pictures on a external hard disk under Data_photos folder to allow more memory space on my Mac book Air. My problem now that when I connect the external hard disk with my computer the connexion does not happen automatically. it is like if Lightromm does not recognize the path to get connected to the original/real picture and therefore I cannot see pictures with all their potential and I cannot work on these. I am stuck! What should I do to 1) create this link? 2) create then virtual copies in order to be able to work on my computer without been obliged to connect my external hard disk to be able to use the application Lightroom. The friend who helped me disappeared! He is not in Japan and unable to help me.I hope you can help me. I have been looking for support to apple stores, photo shops, computer specialists but I have not found the expert capable to help me. I am leaving in Geneva. And believe that I should have some one with me physically to resolve a problem which I believe is not a serious one if one knows lghtroom an dinformatic basics... thank in advance to come back to me asap !!!!

Hi, I have xserve with Lacie s2s, how to connect them

in initial state to Xserve(fan heigh sound), the Lacie lamb don't work but when I run Xserve in standalone state(slow fan), the lamps work. I forget how to install the lacie,
I log to Xserve system, setup the drivers for pci-x card and lacie driver and lacie manager, but the server don't show any thing that connected,
the lacie manager don't show any hard, as well as the Disk Utility.

However, I still don't quite get it.
The links you stated say that I would have to contact my carrier to enable a certain "Tethering"-option, whatever that is. This would cost me another 5€ extra per MONTH for an option that I probably don't need at all - I don't need tethering or anything, just internet-dialup.
I guess they can't charge a monthly fee for a phone feature
To make it clear:
I don't need extra data volume (I got a flat already), so there is no need upgrade my tariff. I only want to connect my phone to my macbook and to dialup to the internet, just like I did with my former phones.
No "Tethering" or whatever needed, just Internet dial-up. How do I do that?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-213TU notebook computer which has an HDMI port. I bought an "HDMI to 3RCA+VGA" cable from ebay. I was able to connect my laptop to the extenal display with VGA, but when i tried to connect my laptop to my non HD tv it did not connect.

You can use both cables to connect your notebook to TV. Its depending on the interfaces on notebook and TV but in both cases its the same:
Connect the cable to notebook and TV, power on your TV and select the right channel and then power on your notebook. After boot procedure you can switch with FN+F5 between monitors.
If you use S-Video cable make sure that you are using the right television encoding system, e. g. PAL or NTSC.

Can someone tell me how to connect a laptop computer to a desktop computer via a firewire connection, so that it shows on the desktop computer like a mounted server (i.e., not in target-disk mode but as a connected server)?
I want to be able to plug a laptop into a desktop, via the firewire cable, and then synchronize various folders. But I can't seem to figure out how to "mount" the firewire computer, as a server, so I can navigate to the folders.

If you try to set up the new AirPort Extreme with AirPort Utility 5.6.1, you will receive a notice that you need a more up to date version of AirPort Utility.
Nevertheless, AP 5.6.1 will allow you to set up the basics....wireless network name, password, etc.
It will appear that you can change other settings that are not found in more recent versions of AirPort Utility, but if you go in and check using a newer version of AirPort Utility, you will find that the settings that you thought you had made have not "stuck".
For example, you want to change the Radio Mode on the new Extreme and not use the Automatic setting. AP 5.6.1 will appear to let you do this. But, if you check the setting using a more recent version of AirPort Utility you will see that the setting is still set at "Automatic".
So, the bottom line here is that unless the newer version of AirPort Utility has the specific setting that you want to change, you will not be able to make that change.
