Desktops are not reporting, patches cause WSUS to fail to operate properly (and still desktops don't report)
I'm running WSUS 3.0 SP2 (3.2.7600.226) on Windows 2008R2 with SQL Server 2008R2 Standard (Max db size 524,272 terabytes)
I am not using SSL for updates, nor to contact my upstream server.
I have rebuilt this server four times since Feb 5. This may be related to the problem
When I look at the computers, it indicates none of them are responding (one was, but it has since stopped). In the last rebuild, I created a test OU in my AD and applied group policy to only computers in that OU. so right now i'm managing one
computer, it is not responding.
Using information gleaned from this article (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/372404-wsus-some-clients-fail-to-report-status-please-help) I
tried the following:
clientdiag.exe reported no errors
group policy is being enforced
I can browse to 8530 on my WSUS server from the client machine
I removed the susclientid and susclientidvalid registry keys and ran wuauclt /resetauthorization. The keys repopulated a couple times, but the most recent time, they did not.
I show that the selfupdate url works (in windowsupdate.log)

I found several articles telling me to install KB272011 and/or 2734608, but when i install them, WSUS has a stroke (i can't synchronize, i cant view synchronization history, i can't run any reports, i can't remove the updates and while i can find
workarounds for 272011, they don't work for 2734608). So right now i do not have them installed. I am fresh from the first synchronization with one computer being managed.
I've additionally tested the urls for SimpleAuthWebService and ReportingWebService that are logged in the WindowsUpdate log and SimpleAuthWebService loads in the browser, ReportingWebService claims it is set to remote only so it throws an error, but it responds.
Are there perhaps other, newer patches for wsus that would solve my signature validation problem? Do I have to jump up and down on one leg while holding my nose and applying the patches to keep them from giving my WSUS server a stroke? (I followed
the directions here most recently (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734608) and the result was as described. Synchronization history crashes wsus, running a report crashes wsus)
Is the failure to validate the signature related to the failure to re-create the susclientid and susclientidvalid keys?

I have applied this patch. The desktop is not reporting but it is reporting a new error (see below)
I now have two computers being managed, the wsus server itself which is reporting, and the
I added the wsus server to the computers list using gpo and that server is reporting. As mentioned, the desktop is still not reporting but is reporting a new error.

Thanks, RichIn order to be cross platform you must be using the Open Type version of all fonts to cause the least disruption. Macs can read and process the Windows .ttf type format but PCs can't process Mac formatted type. Most recent versions also cannot use the older PS Type 1 fonts.

I have created a PDF and password protected it for view. However, when reading the PDF in Adobe Reader app on the iPad the commenting and annotation options are not available. Is there a way to allow commenting and annotation in the app while password protecting the document?
Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features? I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option

All of my apps on my new ipad2 are not working. I had this iPad about 4 months and nothing bad has happened before this. I need help on how to make my apps stop crashing. Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

I'm running LR 4.4. Just picked up a Sony RX100 M3 cam. It's RAW files are not supported within my version. Is there a free update still available for my version or do I need to purchase an upgrade to LR 5?

There will be no updates for older versions.
So your choices:
Upgrade to Lightroom 5, or
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all Raw files from the RX100 III to DNG format then edit the DNGs in Lightroom 4.4

I'm being shown an error pop-up message periodically saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file:' are not supported." I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server, but this message continues to pop-up several times a day at random intervals. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is my computer just having a glitch? Other than that, and a mildly sticking caps lock button, it's working perfectly.

I have a problem with the aspect ratio of photos as they appear on iPhoto. They are not correct. On the original photo people were fat and squat. I tried rotating and they became long and narrow. Neither correct. Any suggestions?
Sounds more like a problem with your Display Resolution than iPhoto.

What do you mean it isn't' compatible? What isn't compatible?
There is no limit to the number of iPods you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or iTunes account. Simply connect each separate iPod/iPhone to your computer and configure each to sync whatever content you wish to.

my wireless mouse is not working at all. I have changed the batteries and still nothing, not even a flashing green light. I am using someone else's computer to ask these questions as I now can't use mine. Help!!!
I just had the same problem. And I found the solution, on Youtube.
The problem is that these ******** at apple designed the battery compartement, the distance between metal contacts too big.
That means the batteries plus or minus poles are not touching the corresponding contacts in the mouses battery compartement.
Most likely the battery doesn't get pushed up to touch the plus contacts.
I used a fingernail to push the battery up and tadaa, the green LED came on.
The guy in the Youtube video just put some folded aluminium foil under the minus poles for bridging the gap.

After installing any version of itunes. Told failed to install properly and could not burn or import music from Cd's. Also will not allow eithre one of my 2 ipods to sync with it as well.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.) -
all my applications are in trial mode. I paid for my student plan and still cant install, keeps saying that my trial has expired and then asks me for serial number which i never recieved. i dont know what to do

This is going to affect a large number of disabled UK students as patches and upgrades for the specialist software are not due for release until late 2011/early 2012.
Only options they have is to revert to Snow leopard, defficult as Apple have even recall resellers stock and upgraded it to Lion.
I am contacting the UK educational funding bodies with a view to suspending purchasing of all Apple equipment until such time as the situation has resolved itself.Ikrups says "Speaking of getting one's professional act together I would take a look in the mirror if I were you. I seem to have ruffled a couple of feathers. I do not remember saying I was responsible for computer systems/networks/school systems. Or accusing Apple of incompetence.
All I did was state that Apple seems to have forgotten or is not aware about the potential impact of Lion on disabled students in the UK and both apple and the assistive software suppliers failed to act together over this omission.
During our research prior to the launch of Lion we as a specialist group had identified 22 of the 40 applications used in assistive software that had 'Problems' this was communicated to all interested parties. Still waiting for the 'FIX'
FYI ALL parties have had similar notices on their BB's NOT just Apple.

Reader icons for PDF saved on Desktop are not displayed
Hello,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed on my computer. Whereas Adobe Reader typical icons are correctly displayed in every PDF documents saved on my hard disk, they are not displayed on those saved on Desktop. A blank icon is displayed instead. I have tried to repair Adobe Reader from Control Panel and to uninstall it and remove its leftovers on the registry by using an uninstaller program but the problem still persists. If I create a New Folder on the Desktop and cut and paste the PDF documents saved on Desktop on such folder, they are displayed but if I then move them back to the Desktop the blank icons are again displayed. Any idea what can be the cause and how to fix the problem?

I accidentally installed Genieo and now my folders on my desktop are not showing my files
I accidentally downloaded some version of install.mac. I have used the uninstall application and this has reset my browser setting on chrome which is good! However, I can no longer see my files from opening any folder on my desktop. I have restarted my computer many times and I still see the same thing when I open my folders. Please help! Macbook AirI went through all of these steps. I also downloaded AVG antivirus. It detected nine files that may have been malware and I deleted them. I have restarted my computer several times after this and the folders on my desktop are still not displaying properly. Also my folders are unable to be dragged around the desktop. The whole desktop is messed up.
