Desktops on multiple computers

I am a longtime (11+ years) plam user who syncs to multiple pcs from the same handheld.  I just purchased a netbook and am looking to install the Palm Desktop on it.  All of the other machines have 4.2 installed.  Since the netbook does not have an optical drive, nor do I have an external drive handy, I can download 4.1.4e from Palm's site.  My question/concern is this; will I create any conflicts betwen desktops or my handheld (TX) by synchronizing between the two different versions of the desktop?
All of the pcs are running Windows XP.
Thanks.
Post relates to: Palm TX

You can use 4.1.4e and this should not cause any issues.

  • Can I use multiple computers eg. my desktop, laptop and iPad on an individual subscription?

If I buy a individual subscription can I use photoshop on multiple computers eg. my desktop, laptop and iPad?
If so, what is required on each device? If I am on my laptop away form home can I log onto photoshop and still access documents Ive been working on?
Sorry for the stupid questions, I do not fully understand how the 'Cloud' works and what it offers me if I need to use photoshop on several devices.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thank you

You have 2 activations, meaning you can use it on 2 computers. Mobile devices are treated separately and are not tied to the activation limit. Whether or not you will be able to work on your documents across will depend on syncing them or making them otherwise available through some shared (web) storage.

  • I keep getting the box that asks "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple Computers. It asks Save to my Yahoo! ID, or No thanks, just save to this computer. How do I get rid of this one way or the other?

When I log on to Firefox, I get this block that pops up saying, "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple computers? It has 2 buttons asking "Save to my Yahoo! ID or No thanks, just save to this computer" It drops down from the Yahoo toolbar, next to the Y! on the left side of the tool bar. I have tried the Save button and no response, I tried the No thanks button no response. I tried the underlined "Learn more" and it too no response. I tried the close X but that does not get rid of this box. I tried right clicking and no response. It stays there through out while working on the mail, I cannot access the that toolbar so I cannot use the buttons on this tool bar. Please help or I will have to try another browser to see if it go away.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Multiple Computers on the same network

We're currently transitioning to Windows 8.1 MRD after many years running OSX and ARD in our small office.
We have two computers that we need to access independently from the outside. We opened up the recommend port for MRD and have it working as expected on a single computer. However, we can only gain access to a single machine from the outside. With Apple Remote
Desktop, you simply open up additional ports to allow access for multiple machines. Super easy. We decided to do the same with MRD, but failed with everything we attempted.
Does MRD not support using custom ports for multiple computers?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
We can achieve the result as you want with remote desktop connection. We need to allow the port from firewall end and can apply particular rules with advanced option for specific ports. Also if you are using Routers then need to open the port from router end,
and finally when connecting user “servername:portnumber” and provide credentials.
Please checkthis article for more details.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Can I put an aperture library on a network drive and edit from multiple computers?

I have an Imac desktop and a macbook pro.  I want to be able to edit pictures from multiple computers.  If I simply put the aperture library on a network server drive in my home, can I edit the same aperture library from both the Imac and the macbook? Rather than always having to sit in my office making changes to files I would love to also be able to do this with my laptop sitting ont the couch or in the kitchen.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Get yourself a small portable external drive for your Aperture library.
An Aperture library needs to be on directly connected drive formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled). network access is not supported and can lead to data loss and library corruption.
See Apple's support document:  Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library

  • Same iTunes Library on Multiple Computers

I was wondering whether someone could help me out a little here. I have 3 computers at home. A MacBook Pro, a Windows Vista Laptop and a Windows Vista desktop PC. Both my Wife and I have iPods (mine an iPhone and hers an 8Gb 2nd Generation Nano).
What I want to be able to do is access my iTunes music collection (the music files are currently stored on the MacBook) through any computer in the house (I have wireless through Time Capsule). This I am told is easy through iTunes sharing, however this does not allow you to connect your iPod to any machine and update it, as sharing does allow this.
Is there a way of storing the iTunes library and files on one machine, like a central server and then you can play music from any computer (perhaps using iTunes on that machine) and you can also plugin your iPod/iPhone into any machine in order to update it?
Looking forward to hearing peoples suggestions on this one.
    Thanks.

  • Use of multiple computers on one Skype account

I'm trying to find out if we can have just one Skype account on multiple computers?  For instance, having one name and using it on both our travel laptop and our home desktop would be very helpful.  People wouldn't have to have two different contact listings to remember or keep track of to contact us!  Any help of suggestions would be appreciated.

you can use your Skype account in any computer or device, as long as the Skype program or application is installed in it.

  • Using creative cloud on multiple computers

    Hi There,
Basically I have a computer at home that I can use as a backup computer when I need to work from home and also to practice using the software. If I was to accidently leave open photoshop will it lock me out of my work computer even though I am not using it on my home computer?
Would have to go back and exit all the software?
    Thanks

  • Can you use the programs in the creative cloud on multiple computers?

    Hey,
I was wondering if it is possible to use the programs on multiple computers when you have the membership?
    Thanks

    From the doc : http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html
"You can install the desktop applications available in Creative Cloud on your primary computer and one backup computer, as long as they are not running at the same time. You will have access to both the Mac OS and Windows versions, so if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, for instance, you can install your applications on both. See the product license agreements page for more information."

  • Syncing devices to multiple iTunes accounts on multiple computers.

I have 3 computers in my house, 2 belong to my sister, 1 is mine. Mine is very old and failing so I am probably going to get a new one. Before I do that I would like to preform a complete system restore, I hear that sometimes helps fix the bugs computers accumulate as they age. The problem is I've never done this before and I worry that I might loose valuable information. I keep everything I own on a 500GB external harddrive, so the only things that are really at risk are my Google Chrome bookmarks and my iTunes Library. Everything else I can just recover from the E-HD, but those two... I am still not sure how I can back them up. For this thread I will focus specifically on my iTunes Library though, and leave the Chrome dilema for another day (and another discussion forum).
I figured that if my old comp does go belly up I could always sync my stuff to one of my sister's computers. She mainly uses her laptop and she has told me I could use her tower to sync my iPod Touch and my iPad if I need to. I would be able to use her tower at least until I get myself a new one.
I've found several guides on how to backup the iTunes Library and metadata, and I have tried to do so. I transfer my songs and the backed up library onto a flash drive and then plug them into the new computer (my sister's comp). I drag and drop it onto the desktop, and then plug in the Touch. Oh yea, I feel I should mention something here, I'm going to try and preform a transfer of the iTouche's data first, then continue with my iPad depending on how that goes. My iPad has become my agenda, I use it for everything. And accidentally loosing all my contact/agenda info because of a botched attempt at backing up it's library is NOT an option.
So yea... I try first with the touch.
All the files are there, but when I logged into iTunes he still asked me "You need to reset this device to it's factory parameters before you can sync into this computer." Basically he needs to nuke everything on it so I can't be synced on two computers at once...
I declined the sync and tried to load up the Library I had brought over from my old comp. Problem is... he doesn't offer any option of importing a Library, in the usual spot there's only an option for exporting. Which is idiotic because this iTunes has nothing in it, it's a blank slate.
Then I tried something else, not sure what prompted it, I went on the iTunes store and downloaded a free App. And he was able to put it on the Touch... he asked me for my iTunes account info and password, and then he seemed to indicate my Touch was synced on both computers (and that I had a total of 5 computers I could sync to). The Library still hadn't transfered, since the iTunes on this comp still had no songs, but my Touch still had all 250 songs. So it didn't get wiped...
Basically my question is this. Can my devices (a 2G iPod Touch and a WiFi only 64GB iPad) be synced up to multiple computers, with my main library placed on each of these computers.
And if so, can these Libraries be continually updated with regards to one another through the internet (or at least through my home network). By this I mean, if I make a purchase on one of them, will the other Libraries be updated and get this purchase.

What if that 500Gb drive fails? You need at least two copies on different drives of anything that matters, one just isn't enough.
I use SyncToy 2.1 (free) to keep my backup copies of my iTunes library and other important folders up-to-date. If there's room for the library on the internal then a single external backup is fine, but if your external holds the only copy then you should look to getting a second external drive as backup.

  • Synching/manual add to multiple iDevices with multiple computers.

    Okay, Here's the issue.
I own an Iphone, and multiple versions of iPods (3 different Nano versions and an old Ipod Photo).
I also own three PC's. One desktop, one laptop and one netbook. All run windows 7.
Why is it that it is so bloody impossible to share the three different libraries with the different equipment?
I have a laptop at my girlfriends, my desktop at home and my netbook for when i travel. Ideally I should be able to plug any of the devices that i own and have registered to my apple ID into any PC that is an authorised PC on my account and just drag and drop whatever i want.
Unfortunately this is not the case.
I always enable manually manage music upon first registering a device, as i dont particularly like the whole synch option. I'd just ratherdrag and drop albums as i fancy them, so why can this option not just be tied to each device ID within my apple account, thus when i use one of my authorised machines the setting will be valid and hey presto i can take media and put it on to any of my devices. Is this so difficult?
I also have a WP7 phone, and it seems microsoft can manage this without any problems!
What happened to "Apple, it just works"?
    Obviously not in this case.
After quite a bit of googling this is also not an isolated incident as people have been complaining about this since iTunes 7! (this was the earliest mention i could find)
Apologies if this sounds like a rant, its something that has irritated me since i got my iPod photo in 2003!
I am also aware of the editing the itunes music library xml file and replacing the persistent ID workaround, but this is a real pain to play about with.

Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two or more) computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box.

  • Is it possible for me to sync to multiple computers using an external HDD?

I just bought a 1TB external HDD and have all my music on it, as well as the installed and latest version of iTunes, as well I think I have the iTunes media file on there as well.
So using all of those things is it possible to sync my iPhone 5 to multiple computers? Like can I start syncing on my Laptop and unplug and cancel the sync and continue it on my Desktop
If there is I would imagine that it has to be either really easy or really complex. Either or I would like to know if it is possible!
If you need any more info just ask and I could provide anything that isn't personal.

Yes, if you have the entire library organized properly on the external drive then you can connect it to any computer running the same build of iTunes. See make a split library portable for details. You should also keep a backup on another drive.
