DESPARATE NEED OF HELP - Changing Angles via "Invisible" Buttons over Video

I'm new to this forum, and glad to be here.
I'm going nuts. I'm trying to author a DVD with 3 angles in DSP4.
My first test of the DVD worked just fine before I added the buttons over video. I was able to switch angles successfully by hitting the angle button.
But because so many users are using universal remotes, and some dvd players do not have angle buttons, , my client is requiring angles to change on the fly by either pressing the enter button to cycle through them, or the directional button. Up being main angle, left, alternate A, and right alternate B. I went with the latter.
When I test the dvd in simulator, my buttons over video work fine. Also success when testing with Apple DVD player.
But here's the rub. . .
On set top players I am only able to make one change of angle per marker, and also I am unable to pause,fast forward, or review.
It seems that when the button highlight is ticked, all playback functions are disabled. (Only on set tops, the apple software DVD player will sill pause, and ff, etc)
Now when I test burn again with out button highlight, I am able to use playback functions.
Is there another way I can accomplish this with out buttons over video?
I know of DVDs that change angle with the enter button, but I hoping like h_ll that it's not something that's only available to Scenarist users. Of course, I'm a mac head.

Not so! Several titles use the enter button to change
angles, but I know that these were authored with
Scenarist.
Not so! If you can use the "Enter/Play" button on the remote to change angles, you are activating a button onscreen (or an invisible one) to perform that action -- you aren't changing angles directly with that remote button. The DVD spec is the DVD spec, regardless of which authoring app was used.
Through my research I found out that the BBC wrote a custom
program to insert new invisible buttons every two
seconds, but a least I have a solution, albeit a time
consuming one, and that's make a highlight marker
every two seconds and paste my auto-action buttons in
there....every two seconds....
but at least it works.
You should know that every other marker actually DEactivates buttons over video, and even replacing them every two seconds doesn't rescue you from the FF problem, it just means they'll re-appear within two seconds after the FF operation stops. Also, the BBC didn't "write a custom program" -- they did the same thing you're doing. If you fast-forward through a program and subtitles reappear immediately after you stop, it just means there was a new subtitle marker right after you resumed play. When you do that, you'll always get the next subtitle when play starts again. If you still see buttons during the FF operation, they are burned onto the video, not part of a subtitle stream.
Please dispense with the idea that there are "programs" on a DVD that might do things DVD Studio Pro won't let you do. The only thing on a DVD other than video is the occasional rudimentary script, but even scripts can't be executed while video is being played.
Contrary to the operation of HD-DVD and Blu-ray, standard DVD players have no real RAM (just on/off registers for variables) and no operating system to speak of. It's always playing video, whether it looks like an actual interactive app or not. DVD players don't run programs, they are simply able to show still images and accept input, there is no actual software being run.

I have a Macbook Pro and had a game for windows I wanted to play with a friend while I was visiting. I installed Windows using bootcamp's beta and installed the game. When I went to boot it up, my Mac got ebombed and spam filled my screen. I shut down the computer and tried to reboot...
It goes white screen then black, like it's going to boot windows, but nothing happens. Not even the bios menu appears. It's got warranty left, but I don't know that Mac will cover it because I was using their bootcamp "try at your own risk" beta and even if they could help, the chances them recovering my mac data is likely zero.
Does anyone know a way I can get my Mac back up and running. I don't care if windows stays dead, I just need my Mac!! I don't have the cash to fork out for someone else to ruin my warranty and I can't get to its hard-drive because the Pro edition has the HDD inside the machine itself, not easy access like the regular Macbook.
Any advice helps! I've tried booting into Windows using the Ultimate Windows Boot Disk, but it won't boot from the CD drive. I tried the OS X software and the Windows XP software, no good. Maybe there is some way to boot it from my PC and change the settings to boot in Mac OS X? I could fix it from there...Okay, normally I don't panic over things like this. Normally I'm a PC guy who understands it's easy to screw something up and that most problems are human error. However, when it came to my $3000 Macbook Pro, I panicked.

Need some help changing the Home icon name in Lion
OK, I want to change the home icon name in Lion, I've been following these instructions to enable root user, BUT
How to enable the root user
OS X Lion
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.
After I get to step 6, the director utility opens... the lock is already unlocked, I click it and it locks, click it again, enter my admin password... but there is no option to "Enable Root User" I only see a list of services "Active Directory", "LDAPv3" & "NIS". I'm lost, and I don't want to screw anything up here! Thanks for the help!

I need help changing the sequence settings to my video
I shot on a JVC Everio in 720x480 29.97fps. I normally shoot in 1080x420 so I know the picture quality isn't going to be AS good. Normally, when I drag my clips into the timeline Premiere changes the sequence settings for me and everything looks fine. However when I drag this footage (the 720p) in, it becomes elongated and fuzzy.
I've messed around with the sequence settings by using DV-NTSC widescreen 48kHz and DVCPRO50 480i NTCS widescreen. When I drag my clips in they're cropped really close and they still look a bit off when I change the image to fit the screen (DVCPRO 50 looks a little bit better).
When I shot the video it looked crisp and clear on the monitor. I'm wondering if it looks strange because of the sequence settings and if so, what would be the best settings for this video.
The final video is going on youtube and I would like to make it look as good as possible!

What 720p? You gave us two frame sizes. Neither of them are 720p.
1080X420 is a very strange frame size. And you say it is normal? A 720p video is 1280X720 non-interlaced.
Chances are very good that it is 480i video you shot with a frame size of 720X480 and it is interlaced.
That video should be interpreted with a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 0.9091 (rectangular pixels that are taller than they are wide) - and what that means is that it isn't 16:9 it is 4:3 and should be edited in a 4:3 sequence. If, however, Premiere Pro is seeing the footage as having a PAR of 1.0 (square pixels) then you may have to right click on the clip in the Project Panel and select Modify|Interpret Footage and set it to D1/DV NTSC (0.9091) -
Need Programming Help - Changing Algorithm for PhotoShop's Oil Paint Plug-In Filter
The existing PhotoShop Oil Paint filter only works well when applied to relatively small image sizes of around 500kb. I need to apply these effects to relatively large image sizes of around 100mb.
I do not have a background in programming, but to my way of thinking it seems reasonable to assume the algorithm parameters in the existing code can be altered so that the Oil Paint filter will work well when applied to large images.
I am seeking a programmer capable of doing this.
The Oil Paint filter is derived from Pixel Bender, for which there is an SDK. Adobe no longer supports Pixel Bender and will not be supporting the Oil Paint filter with the next release of PhotoShop CC. I will need to run the updated filter in PS 6 (on OSX) for which Adobe has promised continued support.
If for some reason it is not possible to enhance the existing Oil Paint filter, creating a G'MIC filter capable of achieving the same goal may be a feasible option. In GIMP there is a G'MIC filter under Artistic called Dream Smoothing that produces results somewhat similar to the Oil Paint filter. Unfortunately, with just one control parameter, it is severely limited. It also does not function well when applied to large images.
The most desirable solution is to have a PhotoShop plug-in filter that functions exactly like the existing Oil Paint filter, with the one enhanced characteristic of working as well when applied to 100mb to 200mb images as it currently does when applied to 500kb images.
Suggestions, advice, guidance or other wisdom on how to accomplish this is very much appreciated.

NOTE: I did not "sign in" at the time, to the Adobe site with my Adobe account ID /pwd; but then - I did not think I HAVE to sign in download a freely available plug-in.

I am just learning to use labView 5.0 with the Imaq product. I am learning
autmoation and would like to learn how to use labview. The automation system
I am playing with is assembling a flashlight completely automated. The robot
will move the final assembly to the video camera but I do not know how to
start with the labview. I want to develop a program that will simply perform
two tests:
1) take a snapshot of the flashlight and test the length (22 cm) and whether
the colour of the top part will match the colour of the bottom part (either
a black flash,ight or red). Does any one know how this can be done. If
someone can develop the code so that I can test it and learn from the example
that will be great.Yes I could do this- how much would you be willing to pay?

Need some help getting add/remove field buttons working
Someone here on the forums had previously assisted me with getting a button set up on a form that would add an additional text field to a form. I now need a separate button created that will delete a text field in case too many were added. I am hoping that someone can assist me with this since my XML knowledge is pretty much nil. It doesn't look like I can upload files to the forum here, so I am going to attempt to paste my code. I just need to get the "-" button to subtract a row. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

The (1) is incorrect for the removeInstance.
In the addInstance script the (1) is for "true" - merge the new instance with the data model.
In the removeInstance you need to specify which instance you want to remove.
So in your button the script would look think this:
var vCount = _Objective.count - 1;
_Objective.removeInstance(vCount);
This counts the number of instances and then subtracts 1, because the instances are zero based.
I have also added a button within the repeating instance, which allows the user to select the instance they want to remove.
_Objective.removeInstance(this.parent.index);
The this.parent.index is telling Acrobat that the instance to delete is the one that the button is in.

Just started today-immediate need is to take external swf, add invisible button overlay,click to URL
Hello Everyone,
Let me provide a little background information to the need that I am trying to close on as I am attempting to get this incorporated into my website. It came with the recommendation to try the CS5 today to see if this will meet the requirement at the moment.
Here is what I am trying to do:
There is a desire to take custom SWF files (I think there is something called Swish files too?) from various sponsors for advertisement purposes and place them on my website. The implementation was straight-forward to make them work through the webserver.
I tried a custom example of making a button that upon mouse click would open up a new webpage in CS5 which did work for me.
My problem is since the SWF files are finalized, there is no way to put URL information into those files. After doing a lot of searching around today, it appears that the best way to redirect a user upon click of a video is to:
1) Open up a new Flash
2) Import the SWF video file into the project
3) Create a Invisible Button over top the SWF video so when the user clicks, they are redirected to a specific URL.
But for some reason, when I tried to overlay it with a sample SWF file I imported, there was all this flickering going on to where both were made transparent to one another on the screen - not to mention the video wasn't even visible at all. My hope was that the SWF video could be seen clearly while the button remained invisbile to handle the click on the video.
Is there someone on the forum that is able to guide me fairly quickly with a fast-path procedure so that I can try this? If this will work for me, then I want to get the full product and begin doing a deep dive into what seems to be a very awsome tool.

Thank you for your tremendous insight and solutioning into what I need. Forgive me for being ignorant as I am so new to this tool and ActionScrpt. If I open up a AS3 project with a blank stage, what must I click or do to insert the code into the appropriate section to see the demonstration of your solution? Do I need to create a class file to use this or is there existing section of code that I can use to cut and paste this into ? Once I know how to implement this in the tool, then I should be good to go.
In my attempt to find some reference information, would I do the following?:
1) Open new AS3 Project
2) With a blank stage opened.
3) Create a new layer called "Action"
4) Click on Frame 1 of the "Action" Layer
5) Hit F9
6) Copy and Insert Code
7) Goto last Fame of the "Action" Layer
8) Hit F5
Would these be the correct steps to implement the code above?

HELP! random playback freezing of Flash videos! [on youtube & such]
Hello, my friends!
i need Serious Help here...
while viewing flash videos over the web [in sites such as youtube\vimeo\etc.] , i get these random short Freeze of the video.
its kinda like a hiccup of some sort, while viewing flash.
i am using a Desktop PC, with windows 7, intel i7 64bit, 6GB ram, GTX260 video card.
i must say this:
1.if i somehow download the same video that freezes on my browser-to my hard drive-then it plays fine on my hard drive...!
2.this happend to me on my older PC as well! [i happen to have some quicktime problems while viewing them online as well].
3.i have one codec pack installed, so there shouldnt be any conflicts.
this is all the info i could come up with.

While watching an iTunes movie from my Apple TV, why does my movie stop playing at the 1 hour mark? I'm assuming I have a setting causing this to happen, but I have no idea what setting needs to be changed. Can someone help me?
It's right at an hour (consistently), but the computer goes to sleep prior to that. It's as if iTunes goes to sleep. Also, it wasn't always this way. Originally, the movies played through without interruption. At some point, I guess a setting was changed, and now I only get an hour. Also. My energy settings are set to go to sleep at 10 minutes.

I know how to transfer dvd's, Need help Changing Catagories
I need some help. I have sucessfully transfered my dvd's and tv shows. However, the files are all dumped into the 'movies' catagory on my 5g IPod. Is there a way to change the files from one catagory to another? The guide doesn't see to cover this. You can respond here or email me at [email protected]
ThanksI'm thinking the same thing. At the moment, I only seem to be able to assign one of the two standard categories: Movies or Music Videos.
You can change between these two categories by right-clicking your video in iTunes and selecting 'Get Info'. The option to change category is then listed under the 'Options' tab (If I remember correctly). These currently does not appear to be any way of adding any additional categories.
My current workaround is to assign a Genre to each clip: TV Show, Sport etc to each clip, they can then be organised using a Smart Playlist. -
I need your help regarding Macbook Pro with FCS3 via USB
Sorry for the double posting, I need your help...
I am producing an independent TV movie. We are shooting in HDV with a Sony Z5.
Currently I am using a 2007 iMac (1gb) for the FCS3. I am considering buying a Macbook Pro 15' i7, because I need the portability as well as a WD 1TB portable external drive.
Just when I am about to buy the machine I started to read all about the USB vs. the Firewire. What should I do? The MBP only have one firewire port...if I use an USB portable external drive means that I won't be able to use FCS3 properly and that buying a MBP will mean spending money in something that I won't be able to make it work properly??

As Patrick said its Firewire hubs you should avoid along with directly connecting your media drive via USB. USB hubs are fine for connecting peripherals (keyboards, tablets, mice etc). directly connecting USB media drives is not for streaming video due to their method of sending data in packets rather than as the continuous stream that firewire provides. Firewire hubs just seem to cause all sorts of headaches to those that have used them, I cant give you a specific reason other than splitting the available FW bandwidth (someone with more knowledge on this will have to chime in), its more just inherited practice.

Plug the iphone in and go to the music tab in the iphone,not your itunes library.There will be a button in the borrom right that says autofill. Click that and it should thransfer all your music. It worked for me,and i had the same problem.
