Desperate need of a back-up solution for 3GS

I went to sync tonight and my computer was no longer authorized and it removed my apps. I talked to tech support and they helped me de-authorize every computer and authorize my main computer and I re-sync’d the phone, but it reset all of my apps and it wiped all of my settings, favorites and high scores in the apps! I went to restore and it restored to the point when it the computer was not authorized.
Is there a back-up solution that will save the data from the apps so when iTunes needs to wipe my phone again, I can do a proper restore and not lose anything?

All the old backups are kept.
You need to Restore the iPhone again but when asked if you want to set up as new phone or restore a backup, select backup anf then choose the actual backup that has the correct information from the drop down list.
*iTunes only keeps one backup* created during the sync process for each device. If you restore the iPhone or iPod touch and choose to set up as a new device from the Set Up your iPhone / iPod touch screen, iTunes will automatically sync and create a new, empty backup that will *replace your previous backup*. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to retrieve your previous device backup from Time Machine (on your Mac), or other backup solution you regularly use. If you have Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, you may use Time Machine to find a previous backup.

I can find only one current backup for each device I have in itunes/settings/devices . The only way I found to force itunes to create a new set is mentioned here by tokatta: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1950351 This modified set will be visible in the drop down list from that point on, beside the regular one.

  • Back up solutions for Sony HAP S1

Currently using a WD 3T 3.5" red drive in a NexStar 3 USB enclosure for my external drive. Not using the 500mb internal drive. Since The HAP has to format the drive, for back up I would need to plug that drive in a laptop and format another drive on the HAP and then transfer files which is not ideal. Was wondering about using a WD My Book Duo 6TB dual-drive, high-speed premium RAID storage. Will the HAP format the raid set-up?? That would be a more ideal setup for the external drive.  Thank you for any advice, comments etc

  • What is the best back up solution for me?

I have a Macbook Pro I use for music and photos only.
What would be the best way to back up my media and
    free up space?
    Thanks.

    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
         drive being backed up.
    3. Time Machine requires a backup drive that is at least double the
capacity of the drive(s) it backs up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
      1. Cool Drives
      2. OWC
      3. WiebeTech
      4. Firewire Direct
      5. California Drives
      6. NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • V10.5 Leopard is it worth the up grade? need a simple back up solution

Hi I have been using OSX 10.4.11 for a year at least, but just managed to delete all my photos, I have them backed up on external drives, its more of a pain, so I started to thinking about time machine and wondered was it worth buying Leopard and up grading my operation system just for this, or just stay going manual back ups and on my i disc?
    Any advise?

I'm new to mac (only 2 months) but I love time machine! Read this link to see how easy it is to do a complete restore from time machine should the need arise.

My iphone is no longer working I have black screen with a picture of the itunes logo and a USB cable.  When I try to connect my iphone to itunes the device is not detected, can anyone help me? I desperatley need my phone back

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years.  After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems.  In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that!  I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience.  I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!

  • Define back ground job for Maintenance Order Settlement through KO8G

    Hi Experts,
I need to define back ground job for Maintenance Order Settlement through KO8G transaction code.
    Here are the requirements
    1. The job should run on weekly basis automatically.
    2. The settlement period and posting period should be taken care by the job dynamically. i.e. if the job runs in July, the job should pick up Settlement period and posting period as 7 automatically.
Kindly let me know the steps to define the back ground job as per above requirement.
    Sanjeev

To run the KO8G  each week, the a RECURRING job has to be created.  At my job, Basis/Ops department would create and schedule the job.
To have the posting periods, dates etc dynamically determined at the time the job runs:
    Create the variant and save.
In 5.0, KO8G does not save a variant, therefore, go to SE38 and create a variant for program: RKO7KO8G
When you go to the ATTRIBUTES screen, to add a name and description, you will see a list of all the fields that are part of the selection criteria.
For an example, I frequently use the Posting Date. To the right of the screen is a field called Selection Variable, click on the drop box and select D - Dynamic Date Calculation.
Go to field NAme of variable, click on drop box and select the variable you want.
Each field has its own list of selection variable and name of variable depending on how it works in the progra.
If you look at Posting period you will see:
         T: Table Variable from TVARVC
         B: User-defined variables
I do not know about User defined variables, but for TVARC there is thread that leads to a "how to" blog
[How create a variable in the TVARVC that calculate the last week]
do some more searching and you should find more answers
    Good luck

  • DR solution for EBS

    hello
we need to create a DR solution for EBS 12
we know that we can create a DR site for the database using data guard,
but how to protect the application itself ?
cause data guard will protect against database failure
i mean can we replicate the application layer to the Dr site using some oracle tools ?
or shall we use third party tools

  • My Back-up solution: Good or Bad?

    Hey all,
Here's my back-up solution for my network, consisting of two desktops, two laptops and a server:
    Part A: (Full bootable clones)
2x 1TB LaCie attached via FW 400 to the Server (Mac Mini)
These disks are partitioned into separate disks of matching size for my 5 Macs.
The client mac will mount it's respective drive partition and make a full bootable clone of it's start-up disk to this backup drive partition. This will be done using SuperDuper!. (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html)
This will probably be done on either an every-other-day basis, or end of the week basis.
Part B: (Hourly Time Machine backups)
    2x 1TB Time Capsules
Each mac will make hourly backups to these two Time Capsules using Time Machine.
My entire network is Gigabit Ethernet, with JumboFrame enabled.
    _My Queries:_
    1) If I have to replace any Mac with an entirely new Mac, would I be right in thinking I could restore the backed-up clone onto this new Mac, and then use Time Machine's Restore feature to restore files right backup to the hour.
(I remember reading somewhere that for some reason Time Machine wouldn't restore to a Mac that was completely different, i.e new, than it's previous Mac)
    2) Does this generally sound like a good idea? Do you think the near top of the range Mac Mini Leopard Server will be able to handle all the data transmissions from 5 Macs all going to two drives via FireWire?
    3) Any alternatives or ideas?
    Thanks for any feedback,
    Cheers,

You can only do this if both macs are intel-based (check by clicking >About This Mac...), otherwise, it'll work well.

That sounds like it'll work fine, however, I haven't tried it myself so I can't tell you for sure.
    Good luck!

  • Best Solution For Automatic Cache Refresh

    Hello SDN,
I need to know the best solution for automatic cahe update so that we donot get a runtime cache error in SXI_CACHE.We scheduled SAI_CACHE_REFRESH After every 1 minute, But is it the best solution???
We need to know if there are better solution than this?
We have had a look at the "how to Guide on Cache" also. But if we want an automatic refresh after every object is activated whats the best solution.
It works with this but we want to know if there is a better solution or maybe even an implication on using this, as we did not find any documentation on SAI_REFRESH_CACHE.

  • Just bought a new MacBook Pro Retina 15" and am wondering what my best solution for managing Word files would be?

Having been used to my PC Laptop and needing to generate and read Word documents - and the occasional Excel and Powerpoint files - I need to get a better solution for dealing with these on my new MacBook Pro Retina 15".
Should I buy Office for Mac? if so, which version?
Or is there a better way?

Why not try Open Office? It's free and file compatible with MS Office.
