Desperate of ultranav keyboard with touchpad & num pad.

I am in desperate need of a USB ultranav keyboard with touchpad and numeric pad.
I've checked with lenovo hong kong, but i've been told this accessories was fade out..
the part number is 31p8950
Where can i get 1 of these on earth, please? or is there any other lenovo service center has one of this in stock?
i really wish to buy one of it.

I see your point. Maybe try apple's feedback portal and point this out. I don't use a numeric pad on the 17" but perhaps they should introduce this on 17" or even 19" machines for users like you. Carrying a keyboard around would suck, if you just wanted to move from one room to another.
However, I've heard there's an ipod touch/iphone app called NumberKey that gives you a numeric pad - any use?

  • HT5636 I am using an Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.

    I have a new Mac OSX 10.9.2. I am using Bootcamp to run WIndows 8.1.
    I have just connected a new USB Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.
    All works fine in OSX. But in windows the numeric numbers on the keypad wont work.
    Numlock appears to work, but nothing happens when the number keys are pressed.
    The keys / * - +and entre all work ok. Just not the numbers.
    MIcrosoft SUPPORT REFUSED to help me because i am using a mac, they claim it is a hardware problem.

    I would look for a program which would display the ascii value of typed letters
    if i had the letter the key send one can assign that value to any other function one wish
    https://www.google.dk/search?q=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters& oq=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters&aqs=chrome..69i57.11855j0j4& sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=program+which+display+the+ascii+of+typed+let ters&spell=1
    if the program would get no ascii value from the num keyboard then I suppose ms were correct
    if not then there are tons of free programs to reassign keys as one see fit
    and even if they were not to work one can do it manually in regedit in windows

  • Wireless Keyboard with touchpad?

    I have been looking for some time for a wireless keyboard with built in mouse control - a touchpad seems the obvious choice - to use with a mac mini in a plasma TV/Hi Fi home theatre set up. There seems to be a gap in the market for this type of device.
    I have so far come across 2-3 third party devices that only work with PC but not wirelessly (two USB, one PS2). Sony make a nice looking white cylindrical media PC that has a wireless keyboard with a touchpad. I also see them in some department stores at the point of sale tills.
    I know I could get a wireless Mac (mighty) mouse, but when you are sat in a chair or sofa, there are very few surfaces where you can comfortably use a wireless mouse. It just feels odd!
    Many people are comfortable using a laptop on their lap and controlling the mouse pointer with a touchpad so it is just like detaching the screen, moving it away 6-8 feet and making it bigger of course! The user interface and experience stays the same.
    If Apple got wise and marketed the mini as a media centre, I'm sure they would make the connection and produce another wireless keyboard with built in touchpad. Until then, has anyone come across a suitable solution?

    Hi Bob,
    I'll be in the same boat as you soon, aiming to migrate my G4 Mac Mini to the living room soon, and doing the homework now.
    Here are the wireless keyboards that I've found appealing for this purpose:
    Logitech Playstation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Keyboard, US$47
    Some people have said it works well on Mac and PC too, so this seems good. Note: the PRO model is much more expensive!
    http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-Cordless-MediaBoard-Keyboard/dp/B000MFLBBK
    Logitech DiNovo Edge, US$157
    Very smart looking, pure Bluetooth tech and nice trackpad/media cursor.

    Logitech DiNovo Mini, US$149
    Miniturized version of above, yuo'll be using thumbs to type. Only recently released.

    Adessa WKB-4000US, US$80
    Matches your description of a laptop keyboard and trackpad perfectly!

    I've tried some of the relatively cheaper mini keyboards that have a trackball on the right and left+right mouse keys on the left. The build quality was abit poor and either the trackball easily lost traction (within afew days!) or the keys started falling off, but I do recall I tried it and it wasn't very good, and I returned it. I'm also abit weary of RF wireless, because I have had some RF mice where the battery died very quickly and the wireless connection was not smooth unless you had the mouse right next to the USB dongle. I tried afew cheap brands, going upto the Kensington wireless mouse, but just gave up on RF stuff since.
    If you do go for one of the above, please do let us know how it is with them!

  • Wireless Keyboards with Touchpads?

    My wife has a new external monitor for her macbook pro. She loves the touchpad on the laptop, so we're wondering if anyone can recommend a good wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad. Thanks.

    Oh dear, that is annoying! I tried searching on Amazon, but the best they have is English keyboards with Thai characters on them =/
    If I find anything, I'll be sure to tell you

  • Why is it so hard to get a iPad keyboard with a numeral pad?

    I would like to get a wired keyboard for my iPad via the camera connector kit, I've read with the newer iOS's it's not possible. What other options are there for people that need to do a lot of numerical data entry? The iPad woul work perfectly for me except for the numeral pad!

    That's what I'm looking for, I'm leaning toward the apple wireless keyboard and I believe they made a blue tooth numerical pad that matched the profile of the keyboard, I have a wifi iPad so I would have to be Bluetooth connected to a iPhone, keyboard and numerical pad, was wondering if anyone had done this and what the functionality was like with that many devices running?

  • Could i use a older USB keyboard with caps, num, and scroll lock LEDs to...

    controll a motor? use the power from the LEDs (snipping the LEDs off so they dont draw power) and hook them up to a motor? im thinking about making a DIY cd/dvd duplicator out of a USB scanner. Mabey i should use the existing controller board in the scanner to control motors?....but that would require proramming. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Not really my area of expertise but....
    I'd say you coukd use the LED outputs to trigger relays as the voltage and current would be too low for any useful motor. A typical LED is supplied ~ 2.1 VDC @ ~20 mA. ( could be as low as 2 mA ).

  • Apple Keyboard with number pad doesn't work with Mac Pro?

    I have a Mac Pro, and have used an Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth) with it for quite a while, with no problems. But then my keyboard broke and I ordered a replacement Apple Keyboard with a number pad (not bluetooth). This keyboard doesn't work with my Mac Pro. I have it plugged in, but I can't get the Mac Pro to consistently recognize that there is a USB keyboard connected to it. What magical stuff do I have to do to get the keyboard to be fit for purpose?

    It would not hurt to try an SMC Reset. (But if it does not help, it adds credence to lllaass assertion that the keyboard is not working.)

  • Apple's new wireless keyboard - why no numeric pad?????

    I wanted to go buy one of those new sleek keyboards a while ago and I wanted it to be wireless. But then I found out that the wireless keyboard doesn't have a numeric pad! Why? Really, I don't see the purpose of this! I hope someone at Apple reads this and that they will start producing wireless keyboards with a numeric pad again because until then they won't see my money going to them. Anyone else who shares my opinion about this?
    Stef

    I agree, the numerical keypad is not useful for me. However, I miss the delete, home, end and page up/down keys. It is annoying with the wireless keyboard to have to use backspace to delete.
    Apple should either expand the current wireless model to include these keys or offer the current wired keyboard in wireless version.

  • Availability of USB UltraNav Keyboard?

    Hi,
    I've checked Lenovo's site several times for the past couple of weeks the Thinkpad USB UltraNav keyboard with trackpoint and the extra USB connects at the keyboard.  I currently have one of these (SK-8845, PN 41A5161).   However all I can find on the Lenovo site lately is the USB TrackPoint Keyboard with no UltraNav and no integrated USB ports.  What Gives?
    Is this keyboard not avaialble on backorder or just no longer made?   I really need it to replace a worn out USB UltraNav/Trackpoint Keyboard on a docking station.
    Thanks,
    GC Mobley

    I found my answer...withdrawn from marketing fall of 2009, replaced by cheaper non-ultranav keyboard with NO integrated UltraNAV and NO integrated USB ports.
    So there is no NO WAY to hook up a docking station to a Lenovo Thinkpad and have an external USB keyboard which has UltraNav and Trackpoint - birlliant, just brilliant.

  • USB Ultranav keyboard does not work with Windows 7

    Hi, I recently installed Windows 7 to my Dell Latitude XT tablet and was disappointed to learn that my USB Ultranav Keyboard only works as a keyboard and not a 'mouse'; that is, the ultranav devices (touchpad, buttons, and trackpoint) do not work.  I have not had problems with the keyboard functioning in XP or Vista, so it was surprising to find that it will not work with W7.
    I thought all was going well when W7 recognized the Ultranav keyboard when I plugged-in the device, but all did not go as planned.  I let W7 find the drivers through Windows update, but then once they didn't prove to work, I followed W7's directions of reinstalling the drivers in its version of 'Compatability Mode', but that still didn't prove to work.  I would really appreciate any insights into this problem as it is one of my only (current) hesitancies about using W7.
    Thank you for your time and attention to my inquiry.
    Cheers,
    Tsugazi

    Hi, strangely enough, I got it to work.  Here's the what I did differently (for those with a similar problem):
    After installing W7, I plugged in my keyboard and let Windows find the drivers.  When this didn't provide functionality of the ultranav devices, I tried installing the Ultranav drivers, and when Windows said there was a compatability problem, I then opted to let Windows re-install the Ultranav driver.  Unfortunately, this didn't provide functionality either.
    Jump ahead 12 hrs and re-install of W7 (for other reasons).  This time out, I installed the Ultranav driver, THEN plugged in my keyboard.  Everything works now!  I don't know that this sequence will work for everyone, but it did for me.
    Thanks for your comments.
    Cheers,

  • Disabling Touchpad in UltraNav-Keyboard

    Hello,
    I'm using an IBM Thinkpad UltraNav-Keyboard (this one) and i'd like to disable the touchpad.
    I've googled around, and all I've found is that I should make some changes to xorg.conf and/or the hal-policies.
    I did so, but nothing happend. Even removing both, the xorg.conf and all the hal-policies didnt change anything.
    Another option i've found is to change the behaviour using the Gsynaptics-Config-Tool.
    I added  'Option "SHMConfig" "true"' in the section "InputDevice" in the xorg.conf and created an shmconfig.fdi with the following content:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
    <device>
    <match key="input.x11_driver" string="synaptics">
    <merge key="input.x11_options.SHMConfig" type="string">True</merge>
    </match>
    </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    But when I try to run gsynaptics it still says:
    GSynaptics couldn't initialize.
    You have to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg.conf or XF86Config to use GSynaptics
    And yes, I've restartet HAL and X, I even rebooted. Still no change.
    lshal ouptut for input.device:
    input.product = 'Macintosh mouse button emulation' (string)
    input.product = 'Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint' (string)
    input.product = 'Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint' (string)
    input.product = 'Lite-On Tech IBM USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav' (string)
    input.product = 'Lite-On Tech IBM USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav' (string)
    cat /dev/input/mouse1 responds to movements on my touchpad,
    cat /dev/input/mouse2 responds to the trackpoint.
    So, what do I have to change to disable the touchpad?
    Thanks in advance,
    tOmAtE

    Ok, i read that but found nothing about governing and governed modules.
    But I found out a couple of other things:
    First of all I could  get the trackpoint scrolling using this fdi:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- -*- SGML -*- -->
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
    <device>
    <match key="info.capabilities" contains="input">
    <match key="info.product" contains="Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint">
    <merge key="input.x11_options.EmulateWheel" type="string">true</merge>
    <merge key="input.x11_options.EmulateWheelButton" type="string">2</merge>
    </match>
    </match>
    </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    I'm able to disable the touchpad using "xinput set-prop 8 121 0" , see xinput list- and xinput list props-output.
    Notice the device "Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint" is listed two times, i don't think that should be like that?
    Using hal-device I found out that the pointing devices are driven by evdev.
    When I created an hal-policy to load the Synaptics-Driver,  neither trackpoint nor touchpad worked.
    Xorg.log provides information why:
    (II) config/hal: Adding input device Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint
    (II) LoadModule: "synaptics"
    (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so
    (II) Module synaptics: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 1.7.3, module version = 1.2.1
        Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
        ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 7.0
    (II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 1.2.1
    (**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event6"
    (--) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint: no supported touchpad found
    (EE) Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
    (EE) PreInit failed for input device "Synaptics Inc. Composite TouchPad / TrackPoint"
    (II) UnloadModule: "synaptics"
    Apparently the xf86-input-synaptics-driver does not (or no longer?) support the Ultranav-Keyboard?
    I wonder, because I read a lot about this the past few days, i'm almost sure i found some people who were using this keyboard with that driver.
    Unfortunately i'm not able to find anything about that again.
    Is there anything I could still try?
    Otherwise i'll try this synaptics-usb-driver, that is reported to work.

  • IBM USB Keyboard with Ultranav - D20 problems

    I purchased an IBM keyboard, model #SK-8835 to use with my D20 WorkStation. They discontinued this keyboard in 2009, a mistake I think because they replaced it with a Lenovo keyboard #SK-8855, which does not have the extra number keys on the right side.
    My Lenovo ThinkPad W700DS has a great keyboard with trackpoint, touchpad, and number pad.
    So anyway, I plug in the IBM keyboard and neither the trackpoint nor touchpad are working.  I tried to load the software which came with the keyboard and recieved an error that the software is not recognized by my current operating system.
    I suppose I could purchase a seperate number pad, but I REALLY do not want to do that. I prefer having the number pad built into the keyboard.
    I tried downloading software from Lenovo website with no luck.
    Does anyone know how to get the IBM keyboard #SK-8835 working fully on a D20 WorkStation??
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    no arguments there.   i definitely miss having an integrated number pad.   the canon calculator can switch from numpad to calc functions though, making it a rather useful alternative.
    anyway, the keyboards are made by lite-on and use a combination of lite-on, synaptics, and IBM/lenovo hotkey drivers.   if you don't have luck with the package linked above then i'm not sure what else to suggest.    this particular piece of hardware is rather complicated for being so simple.   (that's an oxymoron, i know, but it makes sense in my head)

  • USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav

    Hi,
    I've a Lenovo USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav (31P9496) to my X301. The keyboard works fine but I can't get the TrackPoint or the TouchPad to work. I've tried the keyboard on other computers and there the TrackoPoint/TouchPad works fine. The only thing that differ is that I use Vista x64 and the other computers uses Vista x32.
    I love the keyboard and want my trackpoint to work - Please help me!

    I ended up opening my keyboard and resoldering the ribbon cable on the TrackPoint PCB, and improving the connection of the ribbon cable to the main board and now it works!  I believe the problem was in the ribbon cable connection to the main board--those ribbon cables and headers are very flimsy.  TrackPoint, TouchPad and keyboard are all functioning well with the default Windows drivers.
    I'm not going to bother with the Synaptic drivers, because they made my Mouse options in the Control Panel crash, and I have all of the functionality I want out of this keyboard without them.
    Thanks anyway,
    --Dan
