[Desperate] Our company will pay if you can solve this memory problem!

We have a java program running in linux. The problem with this program is that it's memory usage keep increasing in size and does not stop. Eventually all the swap space will be used and the system dies. However, here is the key, the heap usage DOES NOT INCREASE. We cannot figure this out. What could the problem here?
Heap Usage shown by profile: cycles between 450-500Mb. VM was set to havea 600Mb limit
Total memory usage 6Gb shown by the unix utility top and growing.

1) We do not use any runtime.exec
2) No native libraries
3) We have no file I/O but plenty of network I/OI doubt if I can really help but if you close the program before running out of swap space is the memory returned?Yes if I close the program, all memory (both resident and in swap) is returned to the OS.So as I initially surmised, you seem to have a native method memory leak. How you find it I don't know.
What version of Java are you using?
Are you using one the the non-Sun Java abominations such as gcj or Openjdk? If so then don't .

  • If you can solve this you're a GENIUS!!!

    Okay so Im burning a warmup cd for my team and I have cut all the songs according to the parts of the song I want.( I learned this from a previous post I had). However when I burn the cd it takes the song that is in the 7th postition and adds silent time to it. It doesnt matter what song it is. For example the one now, I cut it for 2 minutes and the original song is 4:38. Before I burn the cd the song says 2 minutes and then after I burn the cd it says 4:38 and when it plays off the cd it plays for two minutes and then goes silent for 2:38. Ive tried everything please help!!!

    Go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Importing and set the encoder to WAV (automatic settings). Then select the files in question from your iTunes library or playlist and use the Advanced > Convert Selection to WAV menu to convert the files to WAV format. Make sure "Kind" is enabled in your view options (Edit > View Options) so you can easily identify which songs are the WAVs and which are the original MP3s.
    You can now select the WAVs and use the File > New Playlist from Selection menu to create a playlist to burn to CD. First, make sure to go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Burning and set the disc format to audio CD.
    When you're done with all of this, remember to go back and change your importing preferences to whatever you like to use, as WAV probably isn't what you want for general use.

  • Can you help solve this installation problem?

    I have a separate 120GB hard drive and want to store & load my Final Cut Pro software on here to lighten the load on my macbook pro. It won't let me use the separate hard drive as the start up drive to load FC pro. IS there a way I can change this? Is it something to do with partitioning it in Disk Utility?
    Many thanks..

    The applications NEED to be installed onto the drive that contains the operating system. There is no way about this. Many system resources are installed throughout the OS. So you can install the APPS on your main drive, but the EXTRA stuff, like audio content, and Motion content, on the external.
    Need to do a CUSTOM install to do that.

  • If you can solve this problem, then you are a true iPod Classic Genius !

    So I have talked to every level at Apple's iPod support, and to list all the things they made me do would exceed the size limit of this message board. They even made me send back my original iPod Classic, and I had to wait for almost 1 month to receive my replacement. Here is a summary of my problem, that they (Apple support) have not been able to solve :
    - I have a very extensive iTunes collection - over 77,000 songs. All of them were ripped, using iTunes.
    - I use the ID tags extensively - i.e. every field is used, and the comments are filled to the maximum allowed characters.
    - I am not able, to synch more than ~ 23,300 songs to any of my two 160 Gb iPod classics - therefore, including my exchanged iPod, this issue shows up on three different iPods.
    When synching more than 23,300 songs, my iPods are no longer able to play any songs. In the 'About' menu, the iPod shows the wrong number of songs (i.e. 17,300 instead of 24,000) and a huge amount of 'disk space used' is flagged as 'other' (in orange). When clicking on 'Album' or 'Songs', the iPod shows the message 'No songs found'.
    When synching less than 23,300, I am able to resolve this issue by restarting the iPods after synching. However, even when synching less than 23,300 titles, the iPods show the wrong number of songs, right after synching, and the huge amount of 'disk space used' for 'other'. Therefore, I have to restart my iPods every time I synch them.
    The same problem occurs when using my old Power Book G4 (OS X 10.4.10), and on my new 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.1).
    I am using an external HD to hold my music files, which is directly connected to my USB2 port on either Laptop.
    I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes and all the firmware and software is up-to-date.
    I have rebuilt my iTunes Library from scratch several times.
    I have no problem, playing any of the 77,000+ songs in iTunes.
    My assumption is, that there is a size limit for the iTunes library index file on the iPod. Can somebody confirm this theory ?
    It seems funny, that the same problem shows up on three different iPods using two different Mac computers.
    Does anybody have the same problem ?
    Is this an issue that Apple is ignoring ?
    Does anybody know, how this can be resolved ?
    Thank you very much for your help.!

    Hi There,
    I have the exact same problem as you. I'm on my third ipod 160gb. All three have had the freezing and resetting problem. Like you my problems only start once I try to sync more than about 20,000 songs, which is around 90gb.
    I have a 140gb music library. If I sync 70gb of my library it works fine. If I wipe that and sync the other 70gb it works fine so I know my mp3 files are okay. If I try to upload the whole library it freezes when I try to select any music.
    If I'd only wanted to sync half my music library I'd have bought an 80gb ipod.
    I thought firmware 1.1 and itunes 7.6 would solve my problem. No. Exact same problem. I contacted apple support. A genuinely helpful guy advised me to rebuild my music library and change my ipod drive letter. With baited breath I did all this, then restored my ipod to start from a clean slate. I synced my library in 10gb chunks... and it froze up around 90gb just like it always does.
    What upsets me is the hours I've spent glued to my PC re-syncing music, searching through forums for answers. I'm absolutley pig sick of it. I never had a minutes trouble with any of my other ipods.
    Please, please, please apple investigate this problem, it only happens when these ipods are over half full. Please let us have a firmware update that addresses the bugs us folks are complaining about instead of adding new features we'd be grateful for if only our ipods worked in the first place.

  • If You Can Solve This One, Then You Seriously Win

    Here's the deal. I have a 3G 15gig iPod that I refuse to let die. It has a new battery that I recently installed.
    It will not charge through firewire to the wall or to my macbook pro, nor will it charge through usb (which goes without saying on 3G's). There are 2 ways to give it power, my roommates Bose iPod soundsystem, and my G4 tower at home through firewire. No other way to give it power. (Read: firewire seems messed up.)
    Something is corrupted and I've tried every possible way to erase the disk and corrupted files to allow me to Restore the system firmware. The iPod is hasn't worked in some time. A PC will recognize it (but not in iTunes) so I've formatted it on a PC to FAT32 through Windows XP. Then plugged into my macbook, no dice. I thought erasing the corrupted files on the PC would do something, but it didn't.
    On a mac, it will recognize the iPod through USB, not through Firewire. Incidentally, I can run Disk Utility and format the pants off the thing, but to no avail. I've erased and formatted, in Mac Os Extended, and in Extended (Journaled), I've even done the "Zero Out Data" erase, which turns the entire disk into zeros--but that doesn't work either. No matter what I do, the iPod will show me the Folder icon after starting up.
    When the iPod is recognized through USB, it will be formatted through Disk Utility, but not through iTunes, which claims that "iPod must be connected through firewire to restore." The hitch of course, is that the iPod refuses to be recognized on firewire.
    Recently, after doing the Zero-Out-Data erase, iTunes didn't refuse to Restore because of USB, but instead gave me the 1418 error as I tried to Restore through USB.
    So my question, how can I fix this sucker without buying a new harddrive?
    How can I restore an iPod through USB, or how can I get my macbook pro to recognize my ipod through firewire?
    Much, much obliged if you have any input.
    --David.

    I'm thinking of purchasing a new hard drive, as I think that is the problem. Would this likely allow me to charge my ipod again via firewire and restore it, etc.? Or does the fact that I can't connect via firewire mean there is something deeply wrong? (ie a new logic board would be in order)

  • Big Problem in Logic, If you can solve this problem ur truly a Mac Genius

    Hello folks, as the title suggests, I have an enourmous problem. I am an 18 year old aspiring producer/engineer who cashed out his entire savings to buy a sick mobile recording setup to take to Germany for a year as a foriegn exchange student. The bare bones of my setup are as follows:
    1.83 gHz Macbook pro with 1.5 gb Ram
    Logic Pro 7 universal
    Presonus Firepod
    Glyph 80 gb 7200 rpm drive
    Here is the problem. When I try to record a track in Logic Pro, the bar ruler lights up red like it is supposed to, as does the record and play buttons in the transport window, but no window comes up saying recording to blah blah blah HD, and then instead of recording the Song Position line just moves forward like normal but leaves behind no audio region.
    Here is where it gets tricky. Logic will record with the built in Microphone, but not the Firepod. Garageband works absolutely perfect with the Firepod and as far as I can tell the Firepod works perfectly. I have tried all of the obvious solutions so far such as repairing permissions, deleting preferences, blah blah blah, the support staff at sweetwater (who I bought the system from) can't say why it isn't working because everything is compatible, apple couldn't fix it and then said it was because I didn't have a 7200 rpm drive, then I bought one and it still didn't work. What the **** am I supposed to do!
    As far as I can tell there is some sort of OSX incompatibility with this system that should have been fixed long ago. By the same token there are other people sucessfully using the exact same setup as I. Please god, or anyone else out there with a solution, what should I do to get this system working! I am so anxious about this!

    Ok, In my hardware/audio drivers pane, logic recognizes the firepod by name. I have it selected there although this device does in fact use core audio drivers to run not 3rd party ones... In addition it doesn't matter one bit what input I have selected because it doesn't even leave behind a blank audio region. It leaves absolutely nothing behind. I have also tried refreshing my record paths many times. I have no clue then why my buttons and bar ruler light up, does this indicate anything to you guys as to the nature of the problem? Applecare is pretty stumped. I recently did a complete reinstall of everything, including OSX, then did all the software updates and that still didn't work. As for the aggregate workaround, I have not yet tried that. This is such a wierd deal because sometimes it will record one track just fine, and then I will try it seconds later with the exact same setup, and it won't work. So basically it has recorded quite a number of times with my setup, it just refuses to do it the majority of the time. ***!

  • You're miraculous if you can solve this

    It involves the mini and the inMotion speakers I connected to. Because my AC to DC adapter broke that connected the inMotion to my iPod mini, I went out and got a replacement AC power adapter... well... I read directions, and set the adapter to 9V output and connected it to the speakers. the mini lit up... (I saw the glorious apple) and then it cut off... then it lit up and showed the "low battery" picture, and then it cut off. This happened at about 5 second intervals before i cut the whole thing off.
    ...Then i tried to hook my mini into a normal power outlet w/ itsown connectors, and it did the same on/off thing! So... it won't light up, it'll just show me an apple or a low battery, etc. What do i do? is it something w/ the adapter? could that have possibly affected the mini on the inside? was it too much voltage? plz help! -MC

    A simple reset might solve it all. Look for the instructions in your Owner's manual, but as I recall, pressing on play+menu is the right combo, hold for a few seconds and voila. CAUTION: it will also erase everything you have on your mini!

  • You are an iPod expert if you can solve this one

    Here's what's happening:
    ~I plugged my iPod into the wall, and it worked perfectly fine...UNTIL I hit the play button. Then it starts to make a clicking noise approximately every five seconds
    ~I wiped out all of the songs by manually restoring it, but when I went to plug it back into the wall again, all of the songs magically reappeared (I'm stumped as to how that happened)
    ~The battery icon says it's charging but will show that it's entirely dead.
    ~Both the software folder symbol AND the sad iPod icon have appeared but switch off and on.
    ~My computer recognizes that it's plugged in as a 'Removable Disk' but iTunes doesn't recognize it.
    What i've done:
    ~Reset it more times than I can remember
    ~Restarted my computer a LOT
    ~Reinstalled iTunes with all of the software updates.
    ~Plugged and unplugged it from the wall charger to give it back the little life it appears to have left.
    My warranty is long expired so this is my last attempt to fix it. I'd rather not have to go and spend another 250 bucks on another 20 or 30 gb so any help is appreciated. Thanks for reading!

    There is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon or the folder and ! icon.

    Others have run into similar things. See if one of these links offers any help and if not try to google for FacesServlet.java:209:

    My guess is that something may have gotten corrupted (second link) unless someone changed something from the time it was working to the time it stopped working.

  • Nobody can solve this DBMS_LOB problem:

    I want to upload text file to ftp server but when i open file mcx.txt which is in e:\middle-east\ssm dmbs_lob.fileopen() function give error. edit e:\middle-east\ssm\mcx.txt; command also open this text file properly.

    FUNCTION get_local_ascii_data (p_dir IN VARCHAR2,
    p_file IN VARCHAR2)
    RETURN CLOB IS

    l_data CLOB;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_LOB.createtemporary (lob_loc => l_data,
    cache => TRUE,
    dur => DBMS_LOB.call);
    l_bfile := BFILENAME(p_dir, p_file);
    DBMS_LOB.fileopen(l_bfile, DBMS_LOB.file_readonly);
    DBMS_LOB.loadfromfile(l_data, l_bfile, DBMS_LOB.getlength(l_bfile));
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose(l_bfile);
    RETURN l_data;
    END;

    Just for the sake of clarification ... What value are you specifying for p_dir variable?
    It should be a directory object created in the database.
    It can be created with a command like
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY BFILE_DIR AS 'e:\middle-east\ssm';
    and the user who is going to call the function should have read access on this directory object which can be granted with a command like
    grant read on directory BFILE_DIR to FUNCTIONCALLINGUSER;
    I hope this helps with what you are trying
    Best Regards

  • Who can solve this difficult problem?

    I have written a java program:
    import java.util.*;
    class Test0 {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    LinkedList[] Cate= new LinkedList[4];
    (Cate[0]).add(0,"cat");
    (Cate[0]).add("kate");
    System.out.println(Cate[0]);
    Cate[2].add("dog");
    Cate[2].add("girl");
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++){
    Cate.add("boy");
    System.out.println(Cate[i]);
    } // end of main class
    // end of class
    But i can not run it correctly,why?

    No, I can not compile it correctly:
    import java.util.*;
    class Test0 {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    class Point{
    public int x=2;
    public int y=5;
    LinkedList[] Cate= new LinkedList[4];
    // according your advice:
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++){
    Cate = new LinkedList();
    Point x1 = new Point();
    Point x2 = new Point();
    Cate[0].add(x1);
    Cate[0].add(x2);
    Cate[2].add("dog");
    Cate[2].add("girl");
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(0)) ).x );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(0)) ).y );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(1)) ).x );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(1)) ).y );
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++){
    //Cate.add("boy");
    System.out.println(Cate[i]+" "+Cate[i].size() );
    I got this:
    [xwl@zhyj_12 Test.old]$ javac Test0.java
    Test0.java:13: incompatible types
    found : java.util.LinkedList
    required: java.util.LinkedList[]
    Cate = new LinkedList();
    ^
    1 error
    But Ragnvald told me another method yestoday,it works perfectly, And I appreciate him. His code like this:
    import java.util.*;
    class Test0 {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    class Point{
    public int x=2;
    public int y=5;
    LinkedList[] Cate= new LinkedList[4];
    // The difference is Cate or Cate[i] !!!!
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++){
    Cate[i] = new LinkedList();
    Point x1 = new Point();
    Point x2 = new Point();
    Cate[0].add(x1);
    Cate[0].add(x2);
    Cate[2].add("dog");
    Cate[2].add("girl");
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(0)) ).x );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(0)) ).y );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(1)) ).x );
    System.out.println( ((Point)(Cate[0].get(1)) ).y );
    for(int i=0;i<4;i++){
    //Cate[i].add("boy");
    System.out.println(Cate[i]+" "+Cate[i].size() );

  • If you can solve my problem i will mail you $10

    I am at my wits end. I have checked this board, read the iTunes suport manual and have also emailed Apple Support. I have an iMac, and use 2 log-in accounts so that i can have 2 separate libraries. Here is my problem:
    I purchased a bunch of music a few days back, and the music all came into my library fine. However, i can neither sync the new songs to my iPod, nor can i play them on my computer! I get a message that the computer is not i am not authorized to play these songs (and now all of a sudden, I am not authorized to purchased ANY music i purchased in the past). So, I punch in my password, and then a message pops up and says authorization is successful (2 of 5 computers). But, the song doesn't play and when i click on it again, the authorization box pops up again! Well you get the picture, it is an endless loop.
    So, then i've tried to "de-authorize" my machine (with the idea that i will "re-authorize" it), but i get error message -420332? SO i can neither authorize nor de-authorize my computer. Ridiculous.
    Has anyone else had this issue? I feel like i have tried everything possible. I'm thinking my next step is to un-install iTunes, and then re-install it. Would this imapct any of the music that I imported, or purchased?
    Apple suppor is not too helpful, they told me to just authorize the machine, which i told them i tried that.
    If you can solve, i will mail you a $10 check!

    Your setup is a bit confusing. Maybe it's a temporary glitch with the authorizing servers. Have you always used the same account to purchase music with the same library? You "use 2 log-in accounts" Maybe you're using the wrong account with the wrong library or worse you've purchased music with two separate accounts in the same library (don't know if that's possible). Try the other way around.
    btw here in the UK we use $10 notes to light our cigars at current exchange rates!

  • I will Paypal you $100 if you can resolve this Port Forward problem

    Believe me when I tell you, If you are the person who fixes this problem, I will GLADLY Paypal you $100.
    This is so unbelievable. Short story is, after 12 hours of paid support through Support RIX, 6 hours with TWC support, and 4  different modems there isn't a single person in these groups that can get ports forwarded on my Linksys E4200 router.
    I am running a fresh copy of windows 7 with all updates and no anti virus installed. I purchased a Motorola ARRIS SURFboard modem 200 series DOCSIS 3.0 so I have no double router issues. Before I was using the TWC moden/routers in bridge mode.
    I have no problem setting a static IP or configuring port forwarding. It doesn't matter if I have windows firewall on or off. I can't get an outside port checking website that can verify an open port.
    I am trying to play Battlefield 4 using the port forwarding request they provide.
    If I run a local port check program on my computer it will confirm the ports open. Ok, Fair enough. They tell me the outside port checking utilities will say the port is closed unless I am running the program that uses these open ports.
    SO I run the game and check and it always says port closed. One of the ports I want to open is 80. It has to be open to get internet anyway but it still shows closed using the online port checking websites.
    I connected the computer to the modem. No router. I keep getting ports closed or filtered when I check through 6 different port checking sites. Leads me to think their is some kind of block in the ethernet card software.
    Its a Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller with a driver date of 8/26/2014. Latest one I could find.
    I think its an ethernet card filter. Just my thoughts. Here is the current adapter card settings.
    Advanced settings on Ethernet card
    Auto Disable Gigabit/ Disabled
    Flow Control/ RX & TX Enabled
    Green Ethernet/ Enabled
    Interrupt Moderation/ Enabled
    IPv4 Checksum Offload/ RX & TX Enabled
    Jumbo Frame/ Disabled
    Large send Offload v2 (IPv4)/ Enabled
    Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)/ Enabled
    Network address/ You can check the box for Value and add one. Currently its checked to Not present
    Priority & VLAN/ Enabled
    Receive buffers/ 512
    Receive Side Scaling/ Enabled
    Shutdown Wake-on-Lan Enabled
    Speed and duplex/ Auto Negotiation
    TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4)/ RX & TX Enabled
    ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''(IPv6)/ RX & TX Enabled
    Transmit buffers/ 128
    UDP Checksum Offload (IPv4) RX & TX Enabled
    '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''(IPv6) RX & TX Enabled
    Wake on Magic Packet/ Enabled
    Wake on Pattern match/ Enabled
    WOL & Shutdown Link Speed/ 10 Mbps First
    I used a port tester downloaded from PCWinTech.com v3.0.0. It says the ports are open. When I close port 80 it says port 80 is closed. My problem is nothing outside my network can confirm an open port. It always states port closed.
    The game I am playing is Battlefield-4. I have played all of the campigns without any problem but once online it crashes. The BF-4 community says I need to open 5 single ports and 5 port ranges. This is what I am trying to do.
    We have tried an ARRIS router modem, a Ubee router modem (both in bridge mode) and are now using a motorola modem. All with the same problem. We checked the ports during game play and they all say closed.
    I will post pictures of my current router settings.

    What model router do you have?
    What Firmware version is currently loaded?
    What region are you located?
    What is your current model ISP modem your using now?
    What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
    Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6 is recommended.
    Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.
    http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=88e63d78588142e6bb68e22d7faf2046_Configuring_the_M...
    Router and Wired Configurations
    Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
    Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
    If http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only.
    If you set up port forwarding, disable uPnP and test.
    When you check for port status, you have to be actively using the port before you scan check as you may get a false negative if your not using the port. If your using the port then check the status, you should get an accurate result.
    I would try using Port Range Triggering instead of PF and set up the port as follows for your PC that your gaming with:
    0 thru 65535. A bit less hassle to set up then all those different port rules.
    PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
    Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
    Turn off all devices accept for one wired LAN PC while testing.
    Disable any downloading client software managers, i.e. Torrents or similar.
