Desperate to recover old text messages

Hey,
I am trying to locate some old text messages (from a few months back). I never deleted them but apparently they just disappeared over time. I regularly back up my phone but I am not sure if I can view them from the blackberry back-up assistant on my laptop.
does anyone know what I can do to retrieve these old messages?
Thanks so much!

You could try to restore the messages back onto your Blackberry from your laptop using the Blackberry Desktop Software.

If that doesn't work for you, I recommend that you Google for a program called ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter. It will allow you to read those backup files you have on your laptop and hopefully access those text messages.  I believe there is a 30 day free trial before purchase.

  • Is there any way to recover old text messages after update

When i updated my new iPhone OS to the new system, i had to end up doing a restore. This wiped out all my info and while i have a backup on the computer. I can seem to find a way to recover old text messages via the iMessage platform. Is there any way to recover some of those old conversations? Some have sentimental value to them.

I just need the last month of texts and I had not backed up for several months.

  • How can you recover old text message on the iPhone 4S?

I'm not sure what happened, but recently I lost all of my old text messages. I use these for historical documentation and need to know if there is a way to recover them. Any suggestions/advice you have is appreciated!

  • How can I recover old text messages? I didnt have a back up.

Someone erased my Iphone and I lost everything. It was fairly new so I didnt have a back up.
Those messages urgently needed. Can anyone help me get them back?
    Thank you

FYI, iOS 7 has a feature that you can enable that will prevent this from happening again.  Before you can erase all content & settings, you'd have to enter in your Apple ID password
Also, a passcode lock will prevent unauthorized access as well.
And, as KiltedTIme said, backups are a good thing.  iCloud can back up your data automatically for you.
Learn from this painful life lesson so that it doesn't happen again.

  • How can I get my old text messages back?

Wanted to get old text messages back or at least see them! ... But how?

The only way to recover deleted SMS/iMessages is to restore the device to a backup created after the message was sent but before it was deleted.

  • After updating iOS 6 on 3GS, All my old text messages went unusable.

    Hi,
I have iphone 3gs. i've updated iOS 6 on saturday. App Store crashed couple of times when i search for any apps. i've opened my old text messages which has an important phone number. There was lot of conversation happenened in that messages but nothing got displayed. Just a blank screen. When i select messages button to go back, the message got deleted. i was shocked and tried with some other old messages dated before OS upgrade ann those messages are alos deleted when it is opened.
Whats the solution? Can i recove those lost messages? Is this the same case with the mails (I haven't tried it in mails yet).!!!!How to recove thos messages? do i have to roll back to iOS - 5?
    Regards,
    Geerthi

It is strange people experience this problem only with Contacts because normally contacts are backed up with Notes and Photos and that stuff. If you are willing to do a do-over, you can try to backup, restore, and put your data back on again and see if anything new appears. You never know if some file clould have had some kind of conflict because iOS 6 was being installed while data was being restored at the same time.

  • How can i view old text messages?

I was trying to look back at old text messages and I was able to view ones back to february 2014 but it appears the more texts messages I exchange with that person, I'm not allowed to scroll back as far.  If I delete some messages will I be able to scroll back further in that message thread?
If i turn on apple backup to the cloud, will I be able to view the messages going back that far/
My settings are set to keep messages forever.
Please advise and thank you in advance.

If they are deleted and not in your backup file, then you cannot recover them.

  • How can I read my old text messages after transfer...

OK, I've got a couple of problems. First of all, I've been unable to send text messages from my 6620. As detailed in this older thread,
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=14597
...somebody on Yahoo answers suggested a possible fix, but it requires deleting all the text messages in m "In," "Out," and "Drafts" folders first.
I've therefore been dragging my heels about implementing this fix, as I have numerous text messages on my phone which I'd really like to be able to keep and refer back to in the future. The problem is, the last time I checked, there was no way to read any old text messages that you'd removed from your Nokia smartphone and stored on your computer.
Is this still the case? It seems ridiculous to be that there wouldn't be a way to do something as simple as reading an old text file on your computer, but as I said, the last time I checked, nobody could point to any app or utility that would make this possible.
I do recall being able to open certain "Mail" files on the Mac, using TextEdit, but the Nokia had buried the messages inside an incomprehensible structure of layers upon layers of folders and sub-folders, and when you opened the messages, you'd often have to wade through tons and tons of duplicates, all of which had tons of bizarre, random ascii characters showing up in the bodies of the text messages.
So using TextEdit's not a great solution.
Please, can somebody tell me if there's a program that will enable me to easily find and read my backed-up text messages? Ideally this would be something that works under OS X, but I can use VMWare Fusion or Virtual PC if there's only a Windows solution available. Thank you!

As I said previously, "Of course this will not include any messages you had prior to first using Verizon Messages on your old phone."
Verizon Messages will only sync messages which have been sent/received SINCE you first enrolled in it. It will NOT do so for messages from BEFORE.
You could restore older messages to your phone with an app such as SMS Backup & Restore, but they won't be on Verizon's servers to access from other locations such as desktop/laptop/tablet.

  • How do I get my old text messages from my iPhone to my new Galaxy?

Recently, I just upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy 4.  I upgraded my account from Sprint and got my new phone at Best Buy.  I'm trying to get into my iTunes because I know I recently synched my iPhone on my iTunes a little over a week ago.  What I'm trying to do is get into my iTunes because I know my iCloud is backed up on iTunes.  I got all of my contacts and pictures already transferred from my iPhone to my Galaxy.  Now, that last thing I'm really worried about is my old text messages. There is this old text message that I'm needing to save, but I can't seem to figure out how to get my old text messages to my new phone.
Is there some way I can get those back or what I need to go to Geek Squad to help me with this?

Apple has not designed the iPhone for loading up old messages across phone platforms.
Screenshot the important stuff on the Android or use a tool to archive the old SMS on your computer.

  • How can i print out old text messages?

how can i print out old text messages?

As Ann said, it does depend on your phone.  One third party app that works on many phones (especially older models, but not all phones) is BitPim ( http://www.bitpim.org/ ) but it can potentially harm/brick your phone if you don't know what you are doing - use it with caution.  I have used it successfully to get texts and photos off an old flip phone that was deactivated and had no sd card.
Newer smartphones can download apps that will give you the ability to print out texts.

  • How can I upload my old text messages to Integrated Messaging?

I recently started using Verizon Integrated Messaging around a month ago and am now upgrading my phone (that has text messages for the last two years).  Normally I could just take all my texts and send them, Android to Android via Verizon Cloud or a 3rd party program.  However, I'm going to iOS from Android so those options aren't available (for reasons that still elude me...).  In any case, I plan on using Verizon Integrated Messaging on the new iPhone since it seems to be a better option than iMessage.  So, it would be awesome if I could upload all my old text messages to Verizon (which I saved via the Verizon Messaging app via the 'Backup' option), either to the website directly or my iOS device, or even directly from the old phone.  But, that doesn't seem to be possible and I don't understand why - if I can restore old messages in my phone, why can't I restore them to the Verizon server?  Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

  • I bought my Iphone 4 from Sprint. I have little or no internet service. When I go into extended network areas, my phone sends old text messages to my friends, repeatedly. Is this a Sprint issue?

I bought my I-Phone 4s from Sprint. The salesman raved about how much faster my internet would be with Sprint, also told me 4g was being added my area, and it would be even faster. Well now 4g is here. All of my friends on AT&T enjoy 4g, while I am only getting 3g, my internet is so slow, I rarely use it!
Last week I visited the Sprint store where I purchased my phone, to find out what the problem was. They told me NONE of the I-Phones were capable of getting 4g??????  Wow, Has anyone else been blatantly lied to by Sprint.
The other issue I am having is: every time I leave my home area, and go into the extended area network, and then return into my home area, my phone starts resending old text messages to my friends, that they had recieved days ago!. Of course the Sprint Personnel argued with me and said those were just messages that never went through the first time. I have screenshots of the duplicate messages from my friends, phones.
My I-Phone was great for the first 2 months. this month my I-Phone has completely quit 3 times, Sprint says a tower is down every time I call in to report it.
Is anyone else having these problems with the I-phone 4s?

You are not alone on issues related to weak signals.  It happens to us all regardless of the carrier in the US.
I have an iPhone4, legally unlocked with replaceable SIM that I use here In Australia, the US and Europe.  I simply replace the SIM to phone accounts in other countries.  Do have issues at home here in Australia from time to time, but many more problems in the US than any other country.
When the signal is weak, ususally 1 bar the phone does not have enough power to stay connected.  It will attempt to receive and send, but is trying to process so much that the signal cannot cope.
If any employee from Sprint, ATT or any other carrier attempts to tell you it is you and not their system they are out right lying.  Just as they lied when they told you that the iPhone was 4G.  Some try to get around the issue by saying 3GLite, but that really does not apply either because of the mobiles frequency range.
In fact the Australian government fined Apple AUD$2.25 million + $330,000 in costs for advertising that the new iPad was 4G and LTE, which it is not.  There is currently another legal challenge over the iPhone4S.
If you have anything in writing from Sprint that says 4G then you need to contact your states attorney general.  At least file a complaint with both Sprint and the FCC.  If they tell you it is 4G then they either are lying or they do not have a clue to the mobile.
When the signal is weak the phone keeps attempting to send anything that you have sent.  Sometimes that means multiple sends if the signal keeps dropping to low and it has to try all over again.
One way around the problem is by using an internet or data based app like Viber or WhatsApp.  Both are voice, text and data Apps that will use Wi-Fi first then 3G if Wi-Fi is not available.  Because they use the data side of your mobiles plan it does not take as much power or size to receive or send.  Plus, because they are primarily Wi-Fi then data bases they do not use as much time or text units.  You can find them online or through the Apple App Store.
Iv used Viber for years because I can use it overseas or talk, video, text or msg internationally without use of any mobile plan time.
Rember to that in the states you have I think 72 days to return a mobile to the carrier without any charges.
I use ATT in the states and when I am at home here I get almost no signal ... I depend 99% on Viber or WhatsApp to even talk.

  • HT4137 Will doing this erase old text messages?  If so, is there any way to avoid losing them?

I just looked read iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device.  I've been having a few bugs, but do not want to lose my old text messages.  Will setting up as a new device and then syncing erase old text messages?  If so, is there any way to avoid losing them?

You will not lose text message, if you back up your phone correctly and then restore from that backup.  If your going to restore your phone as new and not from backup, then your text will not be there until you decide to restore from that backup.
If you don't want to lose the message, take a look in the app store to see if you can transfer to your computer.

The messages should transfer, and the emails are attached to the email server so your inboxes will come back as well.
