Despite English selected, I get "There was a problem installing Lightroom..." while installing 5.3

Found the announcement and KB-article [1] + other posts on the topic, but my problem is slithgly off;
I see in the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 5.3 12-30-2013.log that the MSI issue happens:
Install MSI payload failed with error: 1624 - Error applying transforms.
Third party payload installer Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi failed with exit code: 1624
My Adobe Creative Cloud app has "English (International)" set as the app language, though.
Any hope for me to complete the upgrade?

Got excellent help from Dilip on Adobe chat!
Trick was roughtly;
Sign out of and close CC
Empty temp folder (run -> %temp%)
Sign back in to CC
Restart LR-install, it will fail again. Don't touch
In temp-folder, search for sub-folder called Lightroom_5_CCM_LS1_win6, with the file Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi in it.
Execute install from mentioned file - that works (should work, and did for me) OK
Sign out and close CC
Sign back in -> now Lightroom 5.3 is listed as installed and up to date!
Thanks a lot, Dilip!

  • New Win7 install. Can't open html files. Get "there was a problem sending command to the program".

When I try to open an html file on my hard drive, I get a "There was a problem sending the command to the program" error. There is no way I can open a local html file with firefox, even though Win7 sees it these files as Firefox documents. This is a brand-new Gateway tower running Windows7-64, Athlon phenom 4x processor, 6G RAM, and the latest version of Firefox (a week old).

    Try:

  • Why do I keep getting "There was a problem connecting to the server"?

I get the following message dialog intermittenly:
There was a problem connecting to the server.

but there's no context so I don't know how to solve it.
    Any suggestions?

  • I get "There was a problem connecting to the server" every time I reboot

This has been going on for over a year I think, and it's driving me nuts.  Every time I reboot my Mac Pro I get this message:
"MacBook Pro 2.6" is the name of my MacBook Pro, and as long as it's turned on and accessible via the network I won't get that message on the Mac Pro at boot.  I have no idea why my Mac Pro is looking for my MacBook at launch.  I've checked all of my User/Account Startup Items stuff, and there's nothing unusual there.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can track down what is wanting to connect to my other machine ever time I reboot my Mac Pro?
    Thanks,
    -Brian

  • Why do I keep getting "there was a problem connecting to the server ..." when I am not trying to connect to any server?

I just got a new MacBook Pro. After copying some files from my old MacBook, I restarted the new one. Now, I constantly get this message.
    Any ideas?

Another user has suggested following the instructions here:
    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/A4.html
But I don't have access to my TM backup at the moment so I'm not able to try it.

  • I cannot download software 4.3.3 on my 3GS, I get "There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone, the network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active".

The network connection is fine, it is working but this always happens - any ideas ?

I just had the same problem updating my iPhone 4. I found out by turning my Kaspersky virus protection OFF, then everything worked out, and I was able to update my phone.
Virus protection programs can cause alot of problems sometime, so it's worth a try if you haven't already tried.

  • Keep getting "There was a problem reading the document (14)" when opening pdf's attached to an email

Windows 7 Pro SP1 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X

    Hi Brain ,
Is it happening with all the Attachments or some specific one'?
Which email client are you using ?
You can try changing the default PDF viewer to Reader and check .
Are you trying to preview the attachment or double clicking on it to view?

  • HT4628 my time capsule has stopped working - have a green light but get an error message saying "there was a problem connecting to the server..."

I noticed this week an exclamation mark on the time machine icon on the menu bar.
My Macbook, iPad and iPhone all connect to the network but i get "there was a problem connecting to the server..."
When I open the preferences the time capsule is off but turnign it back on sends me in a loop of selecting the Time Capsule device (which has a nice green light etc) and then getting the error messgae about being unable to connect. I've pulled the plug a couple of times (this has worked in the past) but no change.
Any advice would be welcome before I try a factory reset or have to return to Apple for repair (the one thing they are offering as the thing is only 5 months old)

I also noticed that when I go to finder I see two MacBook Air's that are in my name but have the number (2) and (3) next to the name.
That is a well known bug in Yosemite.
Try open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Sharing
Edit back to the correct name for your Mac
This may...or may not help.  But, it won't hurt.
The Mac's name may stay stable....or you may see (2), (3), etc again soon.
Be sure to restart both your Mac and the Time Capsule after you do this.

  • HT1338 I can;t open my iCloud account, the message I get is: there was a problem loading the application

. nice one.. it only because my date was wrong.. thank you so much for the links.

  • There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type "file:" are not supported. OK

I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Leopard, but now I keep getting this message when I open some web-pages and every time I wake the Mac up after going to sleep. For some odd reason I get it in Swedish sometimes (installed language) and some times in English...
There was a problem connecting to the server.
URLs with the type "file:" are not supported.
    OK
What is this and how can I get rid of it. I use Firefox and have updated to latest version.

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

  • Ical on multiple computers - There was a problem with an alarm

I set up my iCal to sync between my home computer and a Mac at work on my desk. Whenever I schedule an important appointment I schedule a reminder that runs a script that says "15 minutes to your appointment" or something similar.
The scripts are stored on the hard drive of my laptop at work and it works pretty well there. But on my home machine every day I get "There was a problem with an alarm" dialog boxes because it cannot find the script.
I tried working around this by storing the scripts on my iDisk drive, but then the proper functioning of the calendar and the reminder depends on whether or not the Internet connection is up and the iDisk is online.
Any recommendations for how I can eliminate the issue? I think the solution probably lies in storing the scripts in a similarly labeled folder on both machines, e.g. /Users/mpender/Documents/Speech, but that doesn't quite work for me. Also, it would be highly desirable to have the speech folder sync so that changes like the introduction of new reminder messages would appear in both places.
I'm open to suggestions, but there has to be some way to address this using relative path name addressing.
    Thanks, Mike

I found that this works reasonably well if I store the speech scripts in the iDisk and turn on iDisk syncing to keep a local synchronized copy of the speech scripts.

  • Waht is the meaning of code 15 in "There was a problem reading this document (15)"

I write out a PDF based on the format described in "PDF Reference" published by Adobe.  Works fine for one page, but for two pages gets "There was a problem reading this document (15)" when I open it in Acrobat.  No question it is my problem, but is there any reference to the various error codes so that I can look up the meaning of 15?

Hold the shift or ctrl key during pressing the OK button of the message.

  • "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone"

I'm in iTunes 8.2 with my iPhone 3G connected. I click "update" and I get a message saying that "iTunes will update your iPhone..." I click update and I get "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Steve's iPhone 3G". The network connection could not be made."
I'm not seeing anyone else posting this error. I assume it means Apple's servers are busy, but everyone else seems to be getting the update fine.
My internet connection is strong (22M down / 5M up) and I can access everything else out there, including the iTunes Store. Any ideas?

Agreed, I had the same problem but after reading your post I decided to keep trying and it eventually worked. Thankfully for me at least it worked on about the 10th attempt!
    Thanks!
