Destination Drive - Limit visibility of certain drives?

Hello!
Final Cut Server uses about 10 Fiber drives on our system, however - I only want users to see 2 of them when uploading Clips. They will still need to have the ability to search for clips on all drives though. I'm only referring to the uploading process.
Thanks!

First question, you have to first save the Permission Set then reopen it from the Advanced Admin - Java Gui, you will then to 3 Tabs:
Metadata
Trait Permissions
Device Permissions
Note: I'd suggest creating the Permission Set by duplicating an existing one vs. creating it from scratch. I've found that creating one from scratch will give me a mixture of results. Don't know why.
Second question to assign the set to specific users. Do the following.
Add of the those users to an Open Directory (OD) group.
Create a Group Permission via the Basic or Advanced Administration Pane
Assign that group to the custom Permission Set that you create.

My external Lacie Hard drive that contains the IPhoto library is a "locked volume."  Wow, now it is suddenly letting me copy it. I dragged the library's icon to the new destination (a 3T hard drive) and it is working so far.
I have also had problems copying my IMovie events from this drive, whose data I'm trying to save.  It reaches a certain video and stops.  I will delete that video and try again.

    Hi there @Teka,
I understand that you are having trouble with a System Recovery to a factory image using recovery disks. I am happy to help you with this.
Are those five disks a set that you created using the recovery manager, or is it a set you ordered from HP?
Is there any sign of damage, scratches or smudges on the disk it fails on?
Have you tried cleaning the DVD drive?

  • How will Apple Backup 3 behave when destination drive is full?

I have one external drive I use with time machine and a second that I schedule some backups using Apple Backup 3.1.2(v374). My destination drive is almost full and I'm wondering what will happen once it fills up? Will the backups start erroring out? I'm just trying to figure out if there is any way to have it function as time machine does...deleting the oldest copies, etc. Thanks.

    Hi whmcqueary;
Never having used Backup I am not sure of the answer but my money would be on erroring out instead of deleting old backups.

  • IMovie 5.x - Changing destination drive

.. How does one choose a destination DVD drive to burn the movie to?
.. hold on for a second: what do you mean by 'burn movie to'?
iMovie needs read/write-able disks to work with.. e.g. you can not 'open' an iM project directly from some CD/DVD..
and 'burning a movie' in our lingo usually means NOT a bakup of an iM project, but creating a videoDVD .. with iDVD. which supports since vers5 ext. drives, but not o my knowledge two dvd-burners simultanously..
so, where do you wanna go™ ?
a backup of project to some disk?
or a videoDVD or playback onto any DVDplayer...?

  • Change of destination drive for download

I am short of space on my c drive; deleted all of adobe from it, then tried to download to my d drive, but it never gave me to option to select a destination drive .... what am I doing wrong?

The download of the installer goes to your browser's default download folder.
The install destination can be specified (on Windows, at least) on the first panel of the offline installer ('Change Destination Folder'), which you can download from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Choosing a destination drive for captured files

Does anyone know if there's a way to change the destination drive when capturing using OLCS3? I have a mambo-big external Western Digital drive I'd like to use for long captures (meetings), but OLCS3 seems to default to drive C: and not provide any options to change that.
    Any ideas would be helpful!

To quote Emily Litella: "Never mind!"
I just read the whole help section about "Managing projects and clips" and realized I could control this process much better than I thought.
If anyone got excited about finding the answer, it lies in the help system (duh, I should have looked there before posting).
Thanks for visiting this topic anyway :)

  • Flashing folder/question mark icon & no destination drive

I attempted to wake me PowerBook up from sleep today and only got a flashing question mark in a folder icon. I followed instructions on the Apple site as to what to do when this happens and had no success. I tried repairing the hard drive. I tried fixing the PRAM also; no good. I then decided to try to reinstall OSX and could not find a destination drive. Please help!!

If you don't need anything off the drive, try using disk utility to erase or partition the drive (and format it for Mac OS)
My install CD would not recognize my blank hard drive until I did this.

So i tried upgrading my hard drive to a new hitachi HD and when i tried using the mac osx dvd it doesn't find the hard drive in the destination page. i formatted it to mac os extended journaled with 1 partition and nothing i'm stuck.... here is a picture of the disk utility page i took a screenshot of.... please help

"i tried upgrading my hard drive to a new hitachi HD"
Your havnt said what your trying to do so your posts are very confusing
with this new drive do you want to:
install the operating system on the new drive
format the drive to use it as storage
    create a standby bootable drive
    something else entirely
Your screen shots show you have an internel drive and three other drives
The drive you have erased is an external USB connected drive - youv erased and partitioned the drive and it shows it is working OK
what do you want to do now?
if the idea is to replace your original systen drive with this new drive youv bought the wrong kind of drive it should have been an internal drive
but you need to explain wahat as the drive shows it functioning correctly

  • Changing destination drive for burning music to USB (drive F) instead of cd (drive E)

    Hi,
Which software are you using to BURN ? Many software when we say burn they will find a valid optical drive to burn to an optical disc. If you wish to use USB, no need to burn, just copy like normal copy files from one drive to other drive.
    Regards.

  • How do i change destination drive when intalling fp?

When installing FP 2.0, default destination path is C:temp...  I changed the environment variable to E:temp,  where theres space to run,  however, running the FP is still showing the destination as c:temp...
    Help?

    Thanks for the reply...
I did set both,  temp and tmp to the bigger drive.
    This is weird...
    I have FP 1.5 and SP 2.0
FP15 actually starts to extract to the bigger drive, however, SP20 still points to small C drive.  Visually,  the FP15 has the correct winrar file "look" however, the SP20 doesn't.  File sizes are correct.
I'm having Winrar downloaded...  easy thing would be to have c: opened, however,  we shoulod be able to use a non standard drive...
    Thanks for the input/feedback...

  • Setting up a new destination drive, doubling of files.

I recently moved. My computer reassigned the drive letter of my music disk drive. There is a new, third disk drive that I don't recognize, as I only have two - a CD-RW and DVD-RAM. Therefore, all of the music on my G: drive moved to an H: drive. This means that when I opened iTunes, it couldn't find most of the music on my computer and displayed the small "exclamation point", round, icon next to each song that was missing. So I added a new folder under the "File" menu of iTunes. This made each file playable, but now there are two of every file and I don't want to spend days on end removing duplicates. Anyhow, please help I appreciate it.

If it recognizes the Leopard install disc, try to go to First Aid>Disk Utility and select your drive and then Partition it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). What follows is a more comprehensive instruction from Indiana University's Knowledge Base.
+If your install disc is for Mac OS X, follow these steps:+
+1. From the Installer menu, select Open Disk Utility... . In the window that opens, on the left, click the icon for the drive you would like to initialize or partition.+
+2. To the right, click the Partition tab.+
+3. In the pop-up menu under "Volume Scheme:", choose the number of partitions to be created during the initializing process. By partitioning your drive, you divide it into multiple volumes that can hold different file and operating systems. For a basic installation of Mac OS X, just one partition is necessary.+
+4. After you've chosen the number of partitions you want, you can adjust their sizes by dragging the graphical handles that represent the partition borders.+
+5. Click each of the partitions to adjust its properties. Under "Volume Information", you may choose the format you would like to use. The default choice will be Mac OS Extended or Mac OS Extended (Journaled), depending on the version of the operating system you have, and typically it should be the one you use.+
+6. Once you've chosen your volume scheme, click the Partition button.+
+After your drive is formatted and partitioned, you may continue with other installations from your install disc. Of course, such an installation will be necessary before you can boot (start up) from your newly partitioned hard drive.+
    Hope this helps,

  • Backup Destination Drive full after updating

I have an external Disk Drive that is 150GB in size. I'm trying to setup a daily backup for a single folder that contains all my media which is 116GB in size.
I've tried several times to back this up and it works correctly for first Backup but then after a few days it tells me that their is insufficient disk space. I've checked the external drive and it now contains several incremental Backups taking up 142GB in size.
I thought Backup worked by doing a full backup of the data selected then only doing incremental backups for any data that is changed or been added ? Why is it taking up an additional 26GB or have I got the settings wrong?
    Thanks
