Destop Manager 5.0

I ran into a problem a couple of days ago with the Roxio Media Manager.
When I would launch RMM, it would hang an not get past the splash screen.
I had to kill the process with Windows Task Manager.
So, I tried to unistall and re-install DSM. I went through the custom install and unchecked Media Mannager
Then Windows Installed kept popping up trying to install MM and was requesting the source for MediaManager.msi.
The file could not be found either on the DSM CD, or the Roxio Creator CD.
If I hit Cancel, it would just start up again and come back.
Now, on a fresh install of DSM 5.0, when I go to the Media page, on the left panel for Media Manager, the button that usually says Launch, now says Install, but it is greyed out.
Through all of the iterations and frustrations, I cannot document the exact sequence of events and what started happening when ;-(
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
In addition, you will want to remove any traces of MM as well...registry, folders, etc.
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
7) See if things now work.
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Can't get BB 8830 synching set up with Destop Manager 5.0.1

Bought a new LG laptop with Windows 7 and am trying to set up my BB Desktop Manager to be able to synch my BB with my laptop.  I keep getting to the stage where it asks me to set up the synchronizations configurations & go through it with each of the device applications (Calendar, Memo Pad, Address Book, Tasks)....after I set each one up, I get a message saying 'No available message stores'??   & nothing synchs!!
I know at some other time there was some issue with the 'Intellisynch' file??? Could this be a problem??

Read the information in the KB database here:

Although it states for lower DM verions, it is the same.

  • MULTIPLE PROBLEMS STILL WITH DESKTOP MANAGER 1.0.1

Could you please let me know if you are having the same problems with the new desktop manager for Mac 1.0.1.  (simply state the number on the list below - no need to write anything else)
I doubt very much anyone has a fix for the problems since RIM doesn't, but could you just post a quick reply identifying which of the following issues you're also having in the list below.  I Would like to prove to RIM how many people are having the same issues - I'm not so sure they realize how pervasive these issues are. Thanks
    (1) Several fields in each contact in my Mac Address Book are not transferred to my Blackberry, for instance: the phone number category "Work 2", the phone number category "Other", the email category "home" - if there is two of them only one is transferred;
    (2) It cuts off the end of the "Note" section in the Address Book contacts;
    (3) The software crashes when syncing Entourage calendar;
    (4)  The software severely retards the functioning of my other programs while syncing the Entourage calendar and it is necessary to restart my computer for normal function to resume;
    (5) Calendar event alarms are removed from my blackberry even though they are active on my desktop; and
    (6) Some recurring Calendar events are not transferred over to my Blackberry.
    Lance

My problems are also different.  It was working for a while (a few weeks and maybe 4 syncs).  Now, it always gives an non-descript "Sync Error" message when trying to sync Contacts with Address Book on my MacBook running Mac OSX 10.5.8, and DTM 1.0.1.   I've UNinstalled it, REinstalled it, and can get it to sync with iCal, but not Address Book.
I've tried all sorts of possible solutions, like eliminating all the Groups in my address book and only having 1.  I've tried clearing the Blackberry data before syncing.  I've tried syncing both directions, and I've tried syncing with overwriting everying in the Blackberry.  None of those solutons works.   I also had problems with iCal, but got that to sync by clearing the calendar on the BB first, then syncing calendar alone (not with contacts).
I cant even express how disappointed I am with the Blackberry Destop Manager after waiting for more than year for it after PocketMac failed as a useless piece of code.   The limited setup features, and now its lack of any useful functionality has me ready to dump my Blackberry for an iPhone.   If that happens RIM, I won't be back, and I won't be advising any associates to stick with Blackberry.  I'm at the end of my consumer satisfaction, so you don't need to spend millions with J.D. Power to figure this one out.  Just make the **bleep** thing work with a MAC!  (Just in case anyone from RIM is lurking...you'd think at least one of those software guys would use a Mac?)!!

  • Desktop Manager Application loader hangs

    Desktop Manger v. 5.0.0.11
    Vista 64 bit v 6.0
    BB 8350i  v4.6.1.204
when running the App installer from Destop manager.  It gets to the install stage where it says that it may take up to 30 minutes to complete and the warning do not disconnect until complete, and then hangs.  The first few times I thought I may have been impatient so this time I let it sit all night and no progress.  vista said that the app was not responding.  i searched and did not find this issue in the forum so my appologies if this has already been solved.
PS.  I have previously used Desktop manager with success on a different machine running XP.  DM does do a successful backup and restore in Vista, but the app loader continues to hang.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Have you installed, to your PC (atop DTM), the device OS package for your specific model, carrier, and OS level? That may help if not...you can find your carriers download page via this portal:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
If doing that alone does not help, then I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). 5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Retry the things you are needing
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.1 stops works when I connect by bold 9780

    Hi
I've downloaded Desktop Manager 6.1 but when I attach my Bold 9780 and it starts to initialise the connection I get a dialogue box up saying "The destop manager has stopped working". Windows looks for a solution but can't find one. Following some suggestions on this forum, I saved the software and unzipped it manually but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions.

  • Desktop Manager Crashes During Sync Phase with Notes Calendar

    Hello All,
My Destop Software continually crashes at the point of Syncing with Lotus Notes Calendar. Every other part of Syncing with Notes works fine and sometimes I get a partial Sync with the Calendar, but consistently every time it crashes during this part of the process and then I get the Windows error window saying the software has encountered a problem and needs to close. Here are some other facts to help.
I am running V4.7 of the Destop Manager, latest downloaded from this web site.
PC is Win XP Proffesional, 2002 SP2. 3Gb RAM Duo Core 2GH
I have uninstalled/re-installed the Desktop Manager twice
I get other C Runtime errors with Device Manager on a random basis.
    I have a BB Storm.
    Anything else?
I have emailed the BlackBerry Support but seems to be a Black Hole with no response despite prompting them several times since putting in the email. I am a relatively educated PC user, My laptop is near new, I have many simple and sohpisticated applications installed with a (other than the BB Desptop application) very clean, well maintained and error free operating environment. This is a very disappointing BB first time experience.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
What version of Lotus notes would that be?
Is this is this server based, an island, or standalone Lotus notes?
Are you setup as BES or BIS?
    Thanks,

  • Desktop Manager 4.7 - cannot uninstall

Can you Pleeze help... I have attempted to uninstall the DTM 4.7 and I get the following error message:
Error Code 1402.Could not open key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes|PDXlator.Connect
orManager\CLSID.  Verify that you have sufficient access to
that key, or contact your support personnel.
Is there anyway to do a "manual" uninstall, etc...
I am trying to do a clean install of the Desktop Manager in order to get the Media Manger to  work after reading
fixes for this problem in other posts..
    Thank you for any help!

Thank you for your quick response!! - I do have full administrator priveleges on this computer (just for a note)
After your post, I had to enable the administrator account, I logged in, proceeded to uninstall - it says now... This action can only be performed on installed applications..
not sure about this... the Destop Manager 4.7 IS in the "installed" program lists..
Can you tell me if there is any other way to uninstall this... say "manually" - (deleting stuff - registry, folders... etc)
    Thanks Again..

  • Desktop Manager software

Hello, I have a BB Tour that I use through Verizon.   I also have a BB bold 9000 that I use for work with another carrier.   Can I use the original destop manager software for both or do I /can I run the software for both on the same computer?

Yes, you can. Desktop Manager will know, when connected, which device it is you have connected.

  • 8820 Desktop Manager will not start

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled BB8820 Destop manager V4.2.2 rel338 twice. I cannot get the program to start.from RIMDevicemanager.exe  When I went through the setup procedure both times it neither set up a shortcut NOR could I view the program from the  WindowsXP Start window

So if you check under Start | Programs | BlackBerry you don't see Desktop Manager listed? Does it show as being installed under Add/Remove Programs? Also navigate to C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry. See if you have an executable called DesktopMgr.exe. If you double click that does the program open?
Try going into the Task Manager and end any of the the following processes: BbDevMgr.exe, DesktopMgr.exe, RIMDeviceManager.exe. Try to start the program afterwards
If someone has been helpful please consider giving them kudos by clicking the star to the left of their post.
